I have been a composting fanatic for a long time, and have done worm bins, backyard bins, and burying. I have been known to save my apple cores and peach pits all day to make sure they get composted instead of trashed. Last year, my travel schedule became too hectic to take good care of my worms and they died. I felt super guilty, and the outdoor composting methods were attracting rats to our yard, which was dangerous to our dog. We started using Compost Crew almost a year ago, and while I was initially averse to paying for a service nature will do for free, it has been worth every penny. You can compost so much more stuff when you send your materials to an industrial grade compost -- meat, dairy, oils, and paper plates. And tossing the stuff in a bucket to send away is so easy compared to my precious newspaper shredding, food scrap microwaving, pile turning tasks. Now, I don't just save my own apple cores and peach pits from during the day... I collect food scraps from my office mates and add them to my bin. Knowing I don't have to process them, and I can just send them away, makes that possible. Pickups have been reliable and customer service has been very responsive. The one thing I wish for is delivery of compost at key gardening moments instead of the schedule of 6 months after you start. I highly recommend this service! read more

Thanks to Compost Crew, I've been composting for seven years and can't imagine going back to the old way -- can't imagine simply wasting the vegetable peels, the apple cores, the eggshells, the loose tea leaves after I've brewed my morning, afternoon, and evening cups. Compost Crew's customer service has always been excellent, both the drivers (whom I never see, they come so early) and the office staff, who respond promptly and courteously when I have a question or a problem. Be virtuous, begin composting. You can't have a better partner than Compost Crew. read more

I've been with Compost Crew since their beginning, and what a great service! I have much less trash now every week, and I love sending less to the landfill. Everyone at compost crew works hard to make the customer experience smooth; their website also makes it easy to reschedule a pick-up when you travel or just have less to compost one week, and the company is so responsive. Composting at home is not an option for me - so Compost Crew's reasonably priced service allows me to do my part for the environment AND get compost made from my food scraps! read more

I had a call with Kristie Blumer to get information to bring composting into my local community. Kristie was extremely helpful and gave us multiple options for small and large scale processing. She was able to answer every question we had about starting this kind of operation and where we should start. Kristie was very informative and professional, as well as passionate about the subject. The Compost Crew has been extremely helpful in this process and are excited to hear about it. I will not hesitate to reach out to them again with any questions. read more

We have had compost service for several years now and it's great. I initially signed up for a 3-month trial and quite frankly thought I would not continue. I was totally surprised how much I liked the idea that I wasn't throwing away food scraps and spoiled food. It was an extension of our recycling - one more thing that didn't have to go to the landfill and could be used for something else. We pretty much fill our bucket every week and love that we can compost dairy, meat and fats as well as paper plates and napkins. read more

We are very pleased with Compost Crew. We had been throwing our kitchen waste into a bin in the back yard, but that never seemed to compost (rather it was a smelly, yukky mess). So when CC came into the neighborhood, we signed up. It is very gratifying to both reduce the amount of garbage that gets thrown into the dump pit as well as contributing to the creation of good healthy soil. A win-win. The bins are solid, clean, and animal-proof. And I love that CC sends me a reminder message to put the bin out. read more

I am so pleased with The Compost Crew! I've been with them since they started service in Arlington, maybe 2 years? More? (Time flies, I've lost count) When I read they also compost bones and meat/chicken/fish, I jumped for it! Nothing edible ever gets wasted any more. And twice a year I get two bags of luscious rich compost. I wish all my Arlington friends would get on board. This is so much more efficient than any box or tumbler I've ever tried. read more

Really impressed with how smoothly this process works. Compost crew has never missed a pick up. They communicate about holiday related schedule changes. And the equipment and service they provide makes the process of composting clean and convenient. Highly recommend them and won't go back to the backyard bin - this is well worth the cost of knowing that food scraps are being diverted from landfills. Easy being green! read more

Compost Crew is fantastic! They make it so easy to compost, so you no longer have to feel guilty about tossing food scraps and aging produce into the trash. They are incredibly responsive to customers and extremely flexible in adjusting to your schedule, so pausing service when you're away and resuming when you return could not be easier. If I could give them ten stars, I would. it's a great company and great value. read more

Excellent service. Had absolutely no problem from day one. Definitely orth the monthly cost. We greatly reduced the amount of waste. The provided outdoor bin with the animal lock worked fine -- no animals got in. I also purchased the counter top bin -- it's not beautiful but very practical and works well. I signed up for this service because people in my community recommended it and they were correct. read more

I've been wanting to compost for years but it was impractical. I work long hours, I'm not a gardener, I didn't have the right place or equipment. The Compost Crew is a terrific group. Responsive, informed, reliable, and committed to helping people like me keep compostable stuff out of the trash. I can't recommend them highly enough. Sign up! They will make it easy for you to do the right thing. read more

Compost Crew is a great! They make it so easy to compost and reduce what is going into the landfill. We were so glad our neighborhood decided to do a group setup with Compost Crew and help us finally figure out a way to compost without doing it in our backyard. They have excellent customer service, reasonable pricing, and the pickup service has been completely reliable. Highly recommend! read more

This is a great service. They do the job of picking up the compost efficiently, whatever the weather. Last winter was really awful at times, but they came anyway (thought they were later in the day when the weather was at its worst). And I feel so much better about not always eating every scrap of food, knowing that it isn't going in the garbage, but will go back to being part of the earth. read more

What a fantastic service. We need more people composting and this company is leading the charge. They provide a wonderful pick up service, with great communication and updates. I grew up composting and it always hurt to throw biodegradable material into the garbage knowing it could have been stopped. No more! Thanks Compost Crew, I hope you get the whole DMV to compost. Keep it up! read more

I LOVE The Compost Crew! I have been composting in my backyard for more than 10 years, but when this service was offered in DC, I was ecstatic. No more separating out dairy, fats, and meat...it all goes in the bucket! No worrying about attracting mice or bugs in the compost heap! We don't have to take the trash out as frequently and we get finished compost several times a year! read more

I love compost crew! They make composting so easy and their pickups are extremely convenient especially now. Saves you the time of searching for open compost drop offs. Their timely weekly pickups allow for you to compost without worry of having it sit in your house for a long time. Our family composted over 120 lbs in less than 6 months! Never not composting again! read more

We have been using Compost Crew for over a year, and we LOVE it! Happy that our food waste is turning into compost rather than ending up in the trash or down the drain. The folks at Compost Crew are very responsible and responsive. Added bonus: we have gotten free compost back already on several occasions which our garden loves. Highly recommend! read more

Compost Crew does a great job -- collects, wipes out and relines my compost bin every week. I've composted all my life, but carrying smelly bags to Mom's every 4 or 5 days was a chore. When I found out about Compost Crew's 2 bin system (small indoor/large outdoor) I made the switch. Very happy with their service and prices are reasonable. read more

We have loved having compost crew. We don't have the time to do keep up our own composting, and using Compost Crew has been great for helping the environment because it's amazing how much food scraps we had been throwing out. Compost Crew does a great job and the weekly reminders they give. We also enjoy the stats on amount composted. read more
