Easiest service possible and makes me feel as if I am make a bit of a difference for our environment. Just the other day, i forgot to put out my bin and the collector came up to where we keep it and emptied it. The county trash collectors don't do that! They also have great customer service when you have a question. read more

This service used to be good. But they have missed three pick ups and screwed up two others in the past couple of months. Not sure what happened but they are no longer reliable and refuse to return calls. Composting service is a utility. If it is not reliable, it is not worth using. I am taking my business back to Compost Cab. read more

I promised to update when work on the lawn was finished. The owner came out, and filled in and repaired the lawn himself. 2 extra bags of dirt were left, for when the patch settles. He apologized again, and has absolutely followed through with what was offered. He is a nice guy who had a bad day. All is resolved, and we're giving the company another chance. read more

I'm so grateful for the existence of Compost Crew! They provide great and personal service. (Quick replies to queries, helpful suggestions...) I feel better about my impact on the planet knowing that my watermelon rinds, banana peels, and coffee grounds are being transformed into compost instead of rotting in plastic in a landfill. I think municipalities should absorb this service so it's as normal as trash pick up, but until then, paying to support this process is very worth it to me. read more

We started using compost crew a few months ago. They are a wonderful company. Their communication is clear and timely and the pickups are consistent and it makes the whole process very easy. We love being able to compost so many items, especially our leftovers and fruit and vegetables! Thank you so much, Meg, Hampden. read more

I live in the burbs' and I tried to compost in my backyard. I could not get through a quarter of the compost my family made. I signed up at the Catonsville farmers market and haven't looked back since. I compost ALL of my food scrapes and they even take things I couldn't compost in the backyard bin. My regular trash has gone down considerably, three-four bags, down to 1-2. I get regular communication and when I have had questions , they were responded to quickly. I like that my trash is going to make compost and I am doing my part to get down on greenhouse gases. I haven't had a chance to cash in the compost, but am excited to try that as well. read more

I signed up for their service via their website. Was told that a bin would be delivered on a Friday. Received an automated response that due to unforeseen circumstances my bin couldn't be delivered on that Friday, but would be scheduled for delivery the following day (Saturday). Received another automated email about unforeseen circumstances that was preventing the delivery for Saturday. I responded and asked if this was how they handled new customers. Received a nice response that it would be delivered the following Monday. At 4:30 on Monday I responded asking if they were still planning to deliver the bin. Received another nice response saying there was a "glitch" while rescheduling, and that the bin would be delivered the following day (Tuesday). I responded telling them not to bother, I'll find a competitor. It's too bad really. I was really interested in trying their service, as I'm tired of maintaining my own compost bin. read more

I love working with Compost Crew and their greatly support their mission to build a circular economy and divert food waste from the DMV landfills. They provide valuable service to our community and are quick to respond to my needs as a customer. Their continued growth as a company is a good thing because that means more people are responding to the needs of our world (ending food waste and slowing GHG emissions) and patience is needed as they build their infrastructure to support the new demand. Times are hard and organizations that are doing the right thing require the benefit of our doubt and our continued support. read more

I tried to compost on my own but found myself not being as committed as I should. I learned about Compost Crew from a neighbor and signed up. Love the service! They make it incredibly easy for me to minimize what goes to the landfill. Just put the scraps into the bucket they provide, put it out once a week, and they pick it up and provide a new liner. And I just signed up for my free compost! read more

Happy with the service. I'm 2 months in now. They've communicated very well when there has been schedule changes due to the holidays. I received 2 bags of compost -- great! The worksheet that they gave me has helped from the start in terms of what/what not to compost. I had that taped up in my kitchen for weeks but now it's been shoved in a drawer. I get the system now. I'm more than happy with what I've discovered with my trash which is I do not have as much. The large trash bin that I have from the govt is basically empty every week. My recycling bin and my yard waste bin for the govt is now what is packed and full. With composting, I've cut my trash nearly in 1/2. Using the compost bin in the kitchen has been easy -- it sits in my large sink next to the cutting board and very close to my main trash can. I don't dump the compost every day so on day 2 or 3, it can smell but ONLY when I open the container. So if smell is a concern, don't worry. Stinky trash bothers me but as I type, there's a load of compost in my sink and I cannot smell it. It only smells when I open it. In other words, it can sit there until I do dinner this eve and I'll take it out after I clean up tonight. So when I prep/cleanup, there'll be a bit of smell when I open the bin. But that's it. It is truly not a problem. read more

I started using Compost Crew back in 2019 and didn't have any issues. In the last year or so they've become completely unreliable. I'm the last two weeks alone they've missed picking up my compost. Both times they say I'll be a priority next week but I can no longer trust them. read more

This has been a compost lifesaver! I tried to compost on my own...I bought the spinners and everything. However I failed miserably! I'm SO grateful for The Compost Crew! I fill the bin up weekly and they make it magically disappear every Thursday! If you're interested in helping the environment by reducing methane from food/yard waste, Compost Crew is a great option. Customer service has been great when I've had questions, and the pickup service has been completely reliable. Highly recommend. read more

Yesterday was the 2nd missed pick up in 2 months. Felix will not come back this week to correct their mistake. Only offers a credit. This leaves us with a full bin for a week with no place to add waste. There is no customer service at Compost Crew. Suggest looking at alternatives as we are now doing. read more

Great service, affordable, great communication, and helped us finally figure out a way to compost! Highly recommended.

Compost Crew are such a wonderful company! I have been using them for a few months now and they have been easy to work with, friendly and always pick up my food scraps on they day they says they are coming. I have enjoyed teaching my son about composting through this services and how it can help the environment. Since we don't have much outdoor space, this is a great way to dispose of food scraps in a eco-friendly way. I high recommend using this service! As a bonus, I loved getting a bag of good soil to add to my small garden in the spring! read more

Prices are reasonable. I appreciate the weekly reminder emails the day before pickup that includes a link to skip service for a week. It is really easy to skip a week if I'm away or if I just don't have much compost. I love that this reduces the amount of trash I throw away and it's such a convenient way to do a small part to reduce greenhouse gases. read more

This is a great group doing wonderful work to help save our planet. My husband tends to buy WAY more than we need, and I always felt terrible about the waste. Now, at least I feel better knowing that we are making good compost and not just throwing away food. The pick ups are very regular and they always let you know if there is going to be a change to the schedule. I take mine to work because they don't have enough people in our neighborhood yet. It's not hard to leave at work, but would be happy to have a pick up at home. If you are considering it, I would HIGHLY recommend you join up and start making a difference TODAY!!! read more

They are incredibly unreliable. They regularly miss picking up our compost, which is the whole point of the business. We have reached out to them several times and the service has not improved. Just the opposite, it seems to be getting worse and worse. We 100% recommend composting. Just not with this company. read more

I have had a very bad experience with this company. I signed up for a monthly service at the end of February with my first pick up scheduled on March 8. The delivery of my bin was late. the kitchen caddy that I purchased not delivered. No information was provided. When I inquired the staff told me that it will be delivered on the first pick up. The first pick up was pushed back. Kitchen caddy was not delivered. When I inquired again I was told that it will be delivered on the next pickup. I had the next pickup and it was not delivered. The money for this product was collected when I initially signed up for the service. There is no communication about delays or any apologies provided by the staff. I will be shopping for another composting service! read more

So thankful to have the Compost Crew Service now as part of the pilot in the City of Manassas. Such a terrific service to help each of us make an impact on the environment. Pickup service is reliable, quick and efficient. Like others, when I forgot to bring my compost bin out from behind my fence on a pickup day, the team member made the effort to locate my bin and provide pickup. I highly recommend Compost Crew -- every little bit helps the environment! read more

A little expensive, unless you take advantage of getting compost back for your garden, but helping save the planet. The service is reliable and responsive, and they are careful to wear masks and avoid contact during the pandemic. read more

So happy we finally signed up with Compost Crew. It had been nagging at me for years just how little of our garbage was actually garbage. It is so simple to separate our compostables and let CC do the rest...indeed, we now create one small bag of trash per week including kitchen waste, bathroom trash, everything. CC is super responsive for any questions I've had and my pickups are as scheduled. Highly recommend, if you want to do your part to fight climate change! read more

Compost Crew has excellent customer service, reasonable pricing, responsive staff and is doing great work to reduce my trash. Since starting with them, I only put my trash out every other week. Now if only Arlington County would incentivize reducing trash, more people could sign up! read more

Biggest gripe: here we are 2 1/2 years into the pandemic, and neighbors and I were left to fetch soggy pizza boxes because Compost Crew didn't pick them up. I emailed, why not? "Due to the pandemic, we have decided to stop picking up pizza boxes." WHAHAHAHATTT? This is NOVEMBER 2022!!! Pizza boxes that have been sitting outside, in many cases overnight, are going to give you COVID when you toss them in the back of the pickup? REALLY? There's guaranteed less of a threat of getting COVID tossing a pizza box into the back of a truck than going to the grocery store. Or getting gas. Or doing basically anything. I completely understand legitimate excuses from the pandemic, but I'm getting peeved at companies such as them who don't want to do basic things they are paid to do so try to get out of it using the pandemic. Also, sometimes they're out of liners. Do you really want to dump my bucket and all that nastiness that should be in a bag? My suggestion in fact is to leave each customer with two bags, thus reducing the need to use water, paper towels, etc... to clean the bucket. I'm sure their employees would much appreciate it as well. read more

Compost Crew is a great service for anyone wanting to lessen their food waste. We are starting to do our own composting now but I would recommend them to anyone thinking about starting --always on time, friendly staff (who wave but stay socially distanced and masked) and when i had a question they were prompt at replying. read more

We have been customers for a few weeks now. They have missed about half of the pickups. When we email them about the missed pickups it takes about 7 days to get a response, if we get one at all. When they respond they are always very apologetic, but the missed pickups are getting worse. I honestly do not understand how they are so bad at the core function of their service. read more

The Compost Crew has been such a great addition to our lives. Our whole family has become obsessed with composting rather than throwing food scraps and paper towels away. And the Crew makes it so easy. We bought an adorable counter top compost bucket that looks like a cookie jar - and keep the 5 gallon bucket right outside the back door. Any questions I have had were answered immediately and the customer service could not be better! read more

We love the idea of the Compost Crew. When moving to a city, in a brand new state, I wasn't sure how I was going to navigate composting. I grew up in rural northern New York, so composting was as simple as having a pit in the yard, dumping the accumulated food scraps, and mulching. I didn't want to be contributing more to the climate and ecological crisis, and letting nutrient-dense scraps to enter a landfill. Initially, i brought my scraps to the local farmers market, but they only used them as hog Food, which limited what i could bring. Compost crew takes pretty much all of my food scraps (I'm pescatarian, so no meat scraps to worry about). They have been an affordable, reliable alternative, and far more convenient-- they pick it up at the curb outside my building, and provided me with bucket and liner that keep my apartment from smelling. Additionally, they communicate effectively via email, so if something goes awry in pick-up, we can problem solve together, or if I need to make alternate plans for a week. Highly recommend to anyone in the Baltimore area. read more
