I don't know what impressed me more - the ease of finally getting rid of some old heavy furniture, and odds and ends, or the guys doing the heavy lifting. Paul and Nathan took great care not to hit walls or scratch my floor when moving a large, heavy stainless steel commercial kitchen cart, in which the wheels had pretty much come off. Super nice guys - with super strength! I love that they try to recycle things that are usable. In my case, the commercial cart would be usable to a start up restaurant and I had several antique (Mission style) chairs that just needed re-gluing and new seats. We used 123JUNK's services back in December 2019 and were so pleased with how responsive, professional, and smooth everything was. I spoke to two individuals prior to the actual furniture pick-up date and they were both very helpful at explaining the pricing structure, what to expect the day of, and scheduling us in. They basically charge by volume using a sofa as the unit of measure, which I believe they said 12-13 sofas fitting in one truck (but don't quote me on that lol). I scheduled a pick-up for my boyfriend's mom but wanted to take care of the costs, so they kept my credit card on file for me. The day of arrival, they still called to double check that they could charge my card which was very thoughtful of them. The boyfriend said the furniture removal was seamless and they had sofas, chairs, and tables from both the first and second floors. EDIT: Just to clarify, this move was well before June 2019 when the new policy referenced in the owner's response kicked in. I just wasn't yelping much then. But their response with the policy simply demonstrates my point that they take your furniture and pocket the tax break from donating it. ---- They did a good job getting furniture out of my apartment quickly (although I had to call and email several times to get them to schedule a time to do it), BUT, they were fairly dishonest about the process. This was back when you had them take your furniture, and then they would provide it to a charity and give you a receipt for an itemized donation for your taxes. I donated a lot of perfectly good, fairly new furniture but never heard from them again, even though I followed up. I was told the charities hadn't come yet to look at the furniture and then never heard anything again. I'm sure they pocketed that donation for their own taxes and I understand now they don't even provide the donors with receipts unless you donate directly to the charity, so rest assured this company is probably benefitting from your donations. read more
