Super impressed! My furnace started acting funny this morning. My husband went to check it out, and came back to tell me he smelled gas when the furnace shut off! We knew we had to get someone out immediately. Unfortunately, the worst snow storm in 50 years is schedule to hit tonight! My husband called 6 or 7 companies who were all booked up. Complete Mechanical came as a recommendation on my local neighborhood group. When my husband called Tim, he was on his way to a non-emergency appointment (empty house on the market) and offered to immediately turn around and come to our house! He looked at our furnace and confirmed what my husband suspected the issue was. He was up-front about pricing and our options. The repair took about 3.5 hours including going to get the parts he needed. The furnace works better than before, and if he hadn't fixed it we would have been stuck in a snowstorm either without a furnace or a dangerous gas leak. Tim was friendly, professional, and accommodating. The repair was expensive, but furnace repairs often are and I don't feel that we were overcharged. In no way did we feel pressured or upsold. I can't speak to the poor reviews here, as our experience with Complete Mechanical was exactly the opposite, and I would totally reccommend them. read more

WOW! I have never been treated so poorly over the phone. After reading reviews and checking them out with the BBB, I thought I would give them a try. I had a small job and called to see if they would do it. I was told "I don't see who would. We need to feed our families and plus we are busy." Worst Crook ever!!! We asked for an estimate and Tim took a part to see how much it would be. Tim took 3 weeks to get us an estimate. To get us to get the work do Tim let us know if we turned on our heat our house could burn down or fill with carbon monoxide. When I asked him for the part since he told me that it would cost me $142 to get the part back. I asked him where I signed that a bid would cost me $142. No other HVAC company charges $142 for a bid. Wow, I have never dealt with a more unprofessional person in my entire life! I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. They do not have your best interest at heart and I have been sitting in a house with no heat for almost 24 hours now with a 3 month old baby. I called to check the status and the guy got super pissed at me for calling and told me he has a million other things to do. After fiddling with nest and thermostat terminals on the circuit board for few days, I managed to get into a state where my gas furnace will not turn on. After spending my entire afternoon troubleshooting and fearing the worse for the Saturday night, I called the first number that showed up for HVAC repair near me. Someone (John?) picked up the phone, walked me through the troubleshooting, went through the steps I had performed, made sure I was using my meter correctly and the automotive fuse was not blown. Yes - on the phone. That was it. It was the door switch all along. Saved me money and time and a cold night. Thank you! read more

Complete Mechcanical did a fantastic job for us. Our furnace was kaput. They arrived within and hour and diagnosed not only a bad control board but a crack in the heat box that meant carbon monoxide would get into the house if the damn thing did run. Easy decision - the old furnace must go. They proposed a high efficiency replacement that was extremely well priced. Then we got to talkjing about the old heat pump that we could only use for AC. Tim said new technology thermostats could make use of the heat pump for heat along with our new furnace. Long story short - both the furnace and thermostat are installed and the entire system works great. We now tithe much less to the gas company. I love these guys!!! Oh yeah, one last thing, we decided to really clean out the basement to get them access. New heating system plus a now usable basement...YAHOO!!!!! read more

Wow! I'm a stickler for excellent customer service and these folks are the best! Our heater went out on a Saturday just as the weather had become too cold to go without it. . . good ol' Murphy's Law. Knowing that we could survive until Monday, we called first thing Monday morning and Tim immediately arranged to have a repairman come to our home. Due to my own scheduling conflicts, we ended up having to push the appointment until the following day. . . today. This morning Chris called, provided his estimated arrival time and drove all the way from Lynwood to Sammamish, where we live. He arrived promptly, assessed the situation, knew exactly what the problem was and took the required time to make the needed repairs. He explained everything in a courteous and professional manner with a smile on his face the entire time. Not only was he concerned about my having to get up to let him in and out of the house (our furnace is in the outside cellar and I was recovering from a medical procedure) but he even loved on my big, old Chocolate Lab who, of course, thought he was here to see her! Chris was awesome! Wonderful! What a kind, knowledgeable guy! If I ever need their services again, I will personally request Chris and I would even be willing to leave a key and allow him to enter my home if I couldn't be there. . .yes, I would trust him that much! Hmmm.....the previous review has left me stumped as I have had the complete OPPOSITE experience. I own my home in North Seattle and, of course, the moment it got cold, my 1980 heater crapped out. I called one company and was told it would be almost a week before they could even come have a look!! When I phoned Complete Mechanical, I spoke directly to the owner who told me he would indeed be able to have a look TODAY but later in the afternoon. Cool. That's what fireplaces are for!! When he arrived, he looked at me sadly and sort of gently let me know that my 20+ year-old furnace was on its last legs. He was more than happy to replace the fan (which was the main problem) but he also let me know that the furnace itself was going to need further attention at some point. It was I who asked how much a new fan was as opposed to killing six birds with one stone and just replacing the whole thing! The price difference did not justify going piece by piece so I asked him to replace the whole furnace. It was HE who told ME that the furnace MIGHT get through the season but why wait for more heartache? 5 Days later, new furnace installed, problem fixed and all with only 2 phone calls. In the interim, I had two friends (both with HVAC experience) give 2nd and 3rd opinions and BOTH of them assured me that I was doing the right thing and getting a good deal in the process. So, while I'm sorry for the previous reviewer (Jana), my experience was amazing. I've owned my home for almost 20 years and have a decent understanding of how things work. So....what can I say? Amazing work by an amazing team with plenty of communication and professionalism. Thanks! read more

Tim Detchman, the owner of Complete Mechanical, set one of his employees to my home for a routine annual service of my HVAC system. The guy noticed that the hot water heater's TPR valve outlet was installed so it vents to the floor which has no drain, and he said that's not up to code, and also said the air filtration system was obsolete and needed to be replaced because replacement filters were not obtainable. I went online to the filtration system's manufacturer's web site and found that the filters are available from them overnight. I called Mark Muld, Inspection Supervisor for the City of Bellevue and asked him if the TPR installation was out of code. He said no, that for new construction it would be but for an existing house the age of mine it's within code. My conclusion is that the Complete Mechanical guy was using pressure upsell tactics on my wife, trying to freak her out about the code violation on the water heater and to prep her to pay through the nose for replacement air filters. I called Tim to talk to him about it and he got defensive so I just cancelled the follow up visit. This was all brand new equipment installed last year, and Complete Mechanical could have had an easy $150/year fee for the house call plus the filter every year going forward, but they just couldn't resist the upsell. read more
