Probably the most beautiful Compass location in DC. Really nice vibes in there, extensive seating available, and a good array of drinks and food to choose from. The nitro almond chai was consistently stellar and is honestly one of the best chais I've ever had. Their vegan blueberry muffin is also very very good! Ambiance for studying is good, with even a little greenery and a fireplace. I wish there were more outlets, but otherwise they are a great place to be and in a centrally located part of Georgetown. read more

Cool and trendy coffee spot to stop by while shopping around the Georgetown area. The basic drip coffee was very smooth and while the line was long the service was great. Lots of tables to sit down and just hang out. The Nutella latte looked really good! read more

Nice employees, good coffee and snacks, super large space with tons of nice seating. This place is excellent, which is why it's often full of customers. read more

One time I left a half-full drink on the table I was sitting at while I went to the bathroom. I was gone for probably three minutes tops. The manager and some staff decided to commandeer and through my drink away. So that's pretty cool. It's the best coffee in Georgetown. The nitro cold brew is perfection. But, moments like this require introspection. Do I want to give my business to a place that treats customers like that? read more

Used to love coming here, but for whatever reason they've kept COVID reduced hours. Not sure what the reasoning is, but rarely do I find it worth going when they close at 3PM most days. read more

Compass Coffee is the best coffee shop in Georgetown if not in all of DC! They have amazing lattes and the best cold brew! Staff is also very welcoming! read more

I finally got the chance to check out the new Compass Coffee in Georgetown and I'm in love. Such a beautiful space, and of course great coffee. This is a great space for studying or meeting with a friend. Tons of seating and close to shopping but not on the main M street road. read more

the cashier was totally disrespectful, and races towards me. I was very uncomfortable with the experience that I left the establishment immediately. Georgetown Compass Coffee area has the worst customer service I've seen since I moved to this area and I don't plan on revisiting them ever again. read more

The coffee is awesome! They frequently run out of toilet paper in the men's bathroom and need to tend to keeping it cleaner and stocked with toilet paper read more

Coffee is excellent! Staff is kind and responsive. The cafe and restrooms are filthy. I've visited 3 mornings in a row and it's the same. Compass, if you put as much passion into keeping your facility clean as you do serving top notch coffee, you would be a 10/10. read more

Located under the vintage Georgetown sign on Wisconsin Ave, this Compass Coffee seems bigger than most of the other DC locations. The space is open and airy with lots of tables and outlets. Depending on how loud it'll get in here, this can be a great place to get some work done with a cup of joe. Speaking of coffee, you will not go wrong with the nitro cold brew. It's creamy and frothy and delicious. read more

This is the coziest coffee shop in the area! Not to mention that they have really good coffee as well :) it's a good spot for you to do work, chill with friends or enjoy a book while drinking coffee. I love Compass Coffee and this location is definitely my favorite. They have a good amount of seating area and places for you to chill! What more can you ask for? read more

I visited Compass coffee today on 5/14/23 around 2pm with my husband and multiple of his coworkers. All were wearing law enforcement memorial shirts for a coworker killed in the line of duty being honored during National Police Week. Walking in we really enjoyed the environment and menu selection, but our experience quickly took a turn for the worst. As my husband and his coworkers ordered their drinks the woman working the register (in a plaid shirt ) stared at their memorial shirts, identified them as police officers, and immediately became hostile, curt, and avoided eye contact. She denied his form of payment (total was $14.19 and he handed her $15 cash) impolitely noting she "couldn't make change" - still not making eye contact. No apology. No remedy offered. Just stood there, staring at her register, expecting him to pull out a credit card and swipe without any verbal cue. Abruptly following their exchange she turned around and mumbled something to her coworker (short curly brown hair) making our drinks, who in turn stared them up and down and scoffed as she grabbed the cups. As each of us picked up our drinks we said "thank you." No eye contact or response from the barista, even though she was quite friendly to the rest of her customers during our short visit. We left, walked down the road, and dumped our coffees in the trash. After hopping on their website to see how to make a more formal, private complaint to the company outside of Yelp I noticed this coffee company was founded by two Marines. This is pretty ironic considering the staff that represent them daily obviously do not have any respect for the men and women who serve our country and put their lives on the line daily. We were in dire need of a quick pick me up after a very emotional week here in DC, and this encounter just brought our spirits down even further. We could've chosen to re-enter the establishment, speak to a manager, and make a fuss about it in front of their customers. But this wasn't about the $14.19 we just wasted. This wasn't about the personal disrespect we felt as a group. This complaint needed to go online to inform any future police officers or supporters looking for a quick cup of coffee in Georgetown. Heed our warning: skip Compass coffee and head to another place nearby. Compass coffee founders, managers and staff: we do not want to silence your opinions. Everyone has different beliefs. Some appreciate cops and the job they do, and some do not. We understand that. But you're in the business of serving coffee- a customer service industry job. You signed up to serve all walks of life, not just the ones you agree with. Leave your attitude at the door and serve all your customers with equal respect. We aren't asking you to do a tap dance for us, but a civil exchange would suffice. To the two girls who served us, you know exactly who you are: if you do not have the human decency to behave in a civil manner I'd suggest you find new employment where you don't interact with anyone. (Tip: that wouldn't be law enforcement since these guys help & protect EVERYONE they're called to serve- even if it were you two cold and disrespectful young women.) read more

I have had Yelp for years and have never left a review. I was visiting for a law enforcement memorial and my friend and I were wearing a law enforcement memorial shirt for our friend / partner that was killed in the line of duty last year. The person taking our order looked at our shirts and immediately received a negative attitude from the cashier. When I tried to pay cash, I was told she could not make change. The cashier became smug and short with her answers while continuously looking at our shirts. I noticed she was mumbling under her breath to her coworker. After taking a drink of coffee we decided to throw them away not knowing what was done to our coffee. read more

They don't have change; honestly, c'mon! There is no reason not to go to the bank in the morning to pick up enough cash for the till before opening your doors! It's certainly an inconvenience for the customer and is unprofessional. read more

I'm always looking for cafes close to work in Georgetown. Compass did it right! They have the largest cafe I've ever been in, hustling and bustling but still peaceful. Set right in the middle of Wisconsin blvd close to M Street, perfect location for a Nutella mocha or a specialty vanilla cream cold brew. read more

My favorite coffee shop in Georgetown. The cortado and oat milk latte are great as well as their seasonal drinks (I'm a big fan of the gingerbread latte, peppermint mocha, and maple latte). Great setting for doing work, but it can be hard to get a table, because I am definitely not alone in liking their coffee. read more

A great place, in fact a huge place, impressive for a coffee place with ample seating. I ordered their cafe and liked it if not loved it. They don't roast their own coffee. Staff is helpful and cheerful. read more

Coffee and food was ok but the music was so loud! Which is strange because so many people come to study and work here. Extremely loud hip-hop music (which I love but not for working) read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. On 5/14/23, a group of us went in and ordered from a female wearing a plaid shirt. Two of us in the group were wearing law enforcement memorial shirts for our Partner who was killed in the line of duty last year. Immediately after she looked at our shirts, she became short and began mean mugging us. Throughout the rest of our contact with her she continued to look at our shirts and even mumbled to a nearby employee. After receiving our drinks and taking a sip, I did not trust what she might have done so I threw it away. We don't sacrifice our well being to be treated like garbage while trying to order a cup of coffee. read more

I owe a lot of my success in turning in a 20 page paper this week to Compass Coffee. I'm originally from New England so I lovvve iced coffee, and their cold brew is the most delicious I've had in recent memory. And, the space is gorgeous, very easy to study in, and the prices are comparable to a lot of nearby places. The only possible downside is I wish they had a rewards program to make spending my $$ here on coffee a little more worthwhile. read more

When I tell you I'm obsessed.... Great space. Great coffee. Great staff. Outlets at every seat? Hell yeah! All gender bathrooms? Amazing. Did I mention the coffee was great? AirPods dead, so you're stuck listening to the shops music? Not a problem - tunes from Mitski, Third Eye Blind, and Kero Kero Bonito will do just fine read more

I love Compass Coffee! The coffee is always good, the staff at this location are wonderful, and non-dairy milks don't cost extra! I highly recommend the mocha, the vanilla latte, the nitro cold brew in the summer, or the pumpkin chai in the fall! read more

A new favorite! My daughter is a budding coffee connaisseuse and she said this was the best cold brew ever. My cappuccino was robust with the perfect crema - and a lovely fern design that added an artistic touch. Friendly staff and a cool physical location. We were there yesterday and there was no inside seating permitted during this phase of the pandemic, but they have a large space with lots of comfortable seating. Looking forward to coming back when restrictions are lifted, but well worth stopping in for a hand-crafted, excellent caffeinated beverage. read more

I came here in desperate need of coffee after traveling here from Houston. I got the nitro cold brew with oat milk and loved it. The coffee was so smooth and creamy. The oat milk was something different, but pretty good. I think I'll stick to my soymilk or almond milk though. The service was spectacular and the place was so cute. They have a lot of area to sit. You can sit and chat more in the front or back. The back has a lot of room to study too. read more

An absolutely stunning coffee shop inside the old Georgetown Theatre. The space is large but intimate. The coffee is quality and low price. I had a vegan blueberry muffin and it was extraordinary. read more

The staff is amazing at compass; I go everyday and they are always so friendly, and they have memorized my order already! The drinks are amazing; I especially like the Matcha because they have it unsweetened, which most places don't have. read more

The coffee was decent for the expensive price. I tried the pumpkin latte and it wasn't that impressive. A tiny $7 drink later... I wasn't really happy. The service also took forever and I was the only one in the store. Probably will try it again but hopefully it was an off day. read more

Awesome spot. Have always liked going to Compass when I can, and was very happy to see this place open in Georgetown. Really beautiful and nicely designed inside, similar to the location in Spring Valley, and the employee I ordered with/from was very cool, friendly & helpful. Almond butter lattes are amazing and is full of flavor. I definitely recommend Compass Coffee

This place makes really good coffee. I highly recommend but..... the straws are so bad. If you slightly bend the straw it snaps. I give this place 4/5 just because of the straws. Other then that this place is really good! read more

Welcoming, great seating, relaxed vibe. Points for wood stirrers & NO automatic plastic top. Nice coffee taste In latte, but too hot. You should never burn your tongue. Foam nice but a bit thin. Explanatory chart nice touch to walk customers through the options (though still fairly incomprehensible as to what, exactly, is in what). Do we need to be told we are drinking "REAL GOOD COFFEE" on our cup? I don't think so. That seems something I should be allowed to determine. read more

Great service and wonderful environment for a cafe. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

I love compass coffee and am glad it's so close to my house now.The space is open, full of sunshine and tons of seating options for everyone. The coffee is always really great.I typically order a chai latte or a cherry blossom tea with a vegan blueberry muffin! The staff are extremely nice and are also what makes this place so great. read more

Such an awesome spot in Georgetown! The coffee is amazing and the storefront is even better!! I will be stopping in daily!

Good coffee, convenient, friendly staff. Not my favorite but still consistent and reliable.

Wonderful location and great coffee and baked goods. I got a coconut macaron and an iced latte for $7, very reasonably priced. The macaron was delicious and the latte was also tasty. The environment was great for studying, there was a wide variety of seating options, and many people were there working. There was background music, but it was not distracting at all. The space itself is very deep, so you can sit close to the street or far away. I will definitely be back in the future read more
