I can't believe a cup of coffee now costs me nearly $8 but alas, such is life now if I want coffee close to the office that I didn't brew myself. I'm not a frequent customer here, but sometimes I'll pop in for one of their seasonal menu items. Two "memorable" ones were their strawberry matcha latte (around mid-2024) and pumpkin spice latte with oat milk (fall 2025). Both were just fine; the matcha flavor didn't come out strongly enough for my liking, and the PSL was way too sweet. LaColumbe makes some delicious coffee. Coursica is my favorite. It's dark, rich and full of flavor. They also have a monthly guest coffee which is always worth a try. Just remember, the guest coffees are usually unique. Don't be afraid to try them, but they are unique, special and different. Inside, the seating is limited, but you get to watch what is going on inside of REI. If you sit outside, you can check the action at the Red Bear brewery. The baristas here are cool and hip but welcoming and friendly. Pastries are available as well as some twk away coffee in cans and boxes. read more

On 9/21 I ordered a draft latte from two guys working. Walked down the block to jump on the bus and then realized it was all foam/froth. I was so bummed because I spent $6 on a small for nothing. My biggest pet peeve is they NEVER put out their tables and chairs. So then if you wanna sit outside you have to sit on the curb or attempt to sit at Red Bears tables which most times you are told you cannot from the Red Bear staff. Love their ham and cheese croissant. Also like their draft coffee options and it's very straightforward taste when it's coming to coffee itself. Service is great as they provided some reasonable accommodation tools to communicate! Drawing board to make our orders was a plus and makes our interactions friendly and easy. I'm not a daily coffee drinker, so I'm not as strongly opinionated on quality and such as others are, but I really enjoy this La Colombe location. Service has always been quick and helpful when I've gone. They dont have a super extensive menu, but I like everything I've had from them, and I'm currently hyperfixated on their cereal milk oat milk draft latte (and I say that as someone who had never tried oat milk before). I saw some other reviewers indicate that their draft lattes were not very full after the foam settled and, while I don't doubt that they are telling the truth, that hasn't been my experience with them. The cup has been filled to the very top when I get the draft ones, so I'm guessing that could depend on who is getting your drink and how busy they are (I dont go first-thing in the morning, so it hasn't been very busy when I've gone). Recently walked into this Coffee shop that is connected to what looks like a big bike shop. I ordered an Iced Mocha Latte with Oat Milk. The gentleman that took my order was friendly, knowledgeable and processed my order quickly. The Iced Mocha Latte was absolutely delicious. I did add a small amount of liquid sweetener because I have a sweet tooth. This drink tasted like eating a dark chocolate bar, that probably doesn't sound appetizing, but it really was. Texture was smooth, drink wasn't diluted and had just the right amount of sweetness with adequate caffeine - enough to power me through my Friday afternoon. Drinks are great, and the staff are friendly, but it's not a very comfortable place to hang out and relax. In theory they close at 5, but the staff routinely start shutting down 15 minutes or even a half hour before then. They seem like they'd much rather be a grab and go place despite the plentiful seating. read more

La Colombe has been my favorite coffee spot in the city. It is a little pricy but when I want to treat myself to a nice cup of coffee this is my to-go place. I am so fortunate to have a location near my workplace but also indulge from their canned lattes sold at the supermarket. Great vibes! This location is attached to the REI right outside of the NOMA metro stop. Even though REI doesn't open until 10, rest assured that you can get your caffeine fix as early as 7am at La Colombe. I shoes up on a snowy morning and had the place practically to myself. The space is modern and well put together. My latte was delicious and beautifully poured. There are a few quick grab and go options as well as drinks made to order. Small cafe inside REI to the left of entrance. This was my first time trying La Colombe coffee at an actual shop. Prior to this, I had maybe 2 cans of their draft lattes. I tried the draft latte. Honestly, when I got it, I felt like I was holding a cup full of air. There is so much air in the draft it felt like I was drinking the foam from the top of the cup when you pour soda or beer. There is oatmilk in it which is a first for me. It was an interesting experience for me. There was simple syrup, sugar, and other sweeteners there to adjust the taste. I also tried their regular latte decaf and I could taste bitterness and somewhat staleness. Not sure if less people drink decaf, but it didn't taste the best. I like how they had regular water and sparkling water on tap. The sparkling water was a pretty cool idea. The service was pretty good here. read more

If you're looking for the address, you'll be surprised to see an REI where this coffee shop should be. That's because this location of La Colombe is inside the REI in NoMa. I am not sure the connection between outdoor gear and hipster coffee, but I'll take it. This location is similar to the rest: Tables for sitting, no wifi, and great coffee. Crazy good coffee. Very good service. These guys know what they are doing! I think the medium roast is awesome. You need to make sure you try the Oat milk. The morning glory muffin seems to be best. La Colombe Coffee is conveniently located inside the REI in the NE Region of DC. I've never actually been to a La Colombe until I stumbled upon the REI to look for gear. Basically, it's delicious. I love the draft latte- super airy, frothy, and rich. The only thing that I can critique is the fact that it's so airy that it takes about two seconds to drink and finish. I would love it if La Colombe would have bigger sizes for the draft latte because I feel like I'm eating a bag of doritos that only has 3 chips in a big airy bag. This is such a good coffee that I'd like to have it more often but can't justify the price with the amount that I feel like I'm getting! Anyways, the black and tan is also really good if you're into a stronger, less "sweet" coffee. I'd highly recommend it if you stop by REI and want to shop for a while :) read more

I've been on the La Colombe train since 2012 and I haven't looked back. It's so exciting to see so many La Colombes popping up in D.C., with one of the latest having a prime spot in the new REI flagship store. Although this space is smaller than many of the other D.C. La Colombe locations, patrons do have the benefit of getting Wi-Fi from REI! I love all La Colombe drinks, whether it's one of their popular roasts like the Ethiopia YirgZ or Fishtown, their draft lattes (MUST TRY), or lattes. They even have a line of teas. All in all, I can never say no to a cup of La Colombe. And with REI right there, it's a two-in-one trip for my caffeine intake and all my sporting and outdoor needs. Stopped in here yesterday after a coworker raved about their coffee, and it did not disappoint! The menu can be a bit overwhelming a first, because there are so many different coffees to choose from. The upside of this is that there's a lot to explore here if you're a coffee lover! (And if you're not don't worry, just ask for a coffee and the staff will get it done sans high-brow hassles.) The prices are average for a place like this, except for the pour-overs, which are $5-7. I love trying new coffees, but $7?! If you love cold brew they have some literally on tap like beer, and you can get a sample of you ask. Another cool on tap feature was the free filtered and sparkling water you can pour yourself! They also had some nice looking pastries, but otherwise no real food options, and nothing if you have allergies or are vegan. The service is where I found things fell short. It took like 5 minutes to get our two lattés, which I was only told at the end was because of a problem with the machine. Still, 1 of the 3 staff people didn't seem to be working hard at all, while the other two were doing nearly all the work. I also found the order pickup system confusing; there are no names, you have to remember who you ordered after and who came after you so that no one takes someone else's drink. There were quite a few lattés coming out, so we had to be on our toes! For seating, they have more than you'd expect for a small space. There's a few bistro tables outside (which are shady late in the day), and inside they have two hightop tables and a bar wrapping around the perimeter facing the REI store. Still, they're new here, and I'm so glad to have them and will be back! Check it out and enjoy! read more

This fantastic coffee shop not only surprised me in the entrance of the new REI DC Flagship store, but it offers some needed necessities for the neighborhood. 1) Giant concrete basement is not conducive to cell phone service. So a small coffee shop with WiFi is much appreciated. 2) A hi-quality coffee shop that specializes in espresso might have a lot of competition in Shaw, but not over here. Yes, there's good coffee at Union Market, Ebeneezers, and down on H Street but right by the Metro we don't have something that offers that. So stoked to have this on the corner and currently enjoying a double in the courtyard. read more

Bottom line: The best coffee. I started working close to this location, and I kept hearing rumblings of "amazing coffeeshop" in the REI. I went and tried it, and yeah. It's the best coffee. I pretty much only get the draft coffee (draft cold brew: 3.25)/latte, and it's just amazing. The draft latte is super light (3.75), so I'm actually not a huge fan of it - instead, I prefer the black and tan (3.75). There's very little acidity in this coffee, so I am able to drink it without added cream or sugar. Pro tip: They sell La Colombe cans of draft latte and coffee at Target and some grocery stores, which are a smidge cheaper than going to the storefront. read more
