I've moved 10 times & never had such a HORRIBLE experience!
During my estimate I prefaced I would need the entire kitchen packed, all fragile items be wrapped, that the wall mounted items (TVs, curtains, etc.) would need to be taken down/moved, & I would need boxes.
They move was for a 2 Bedroom apartment & storage unit. They quoted 3-4 hours (seemed short, but I was moving within the same building, so I didn't question it.) They said my Payment would not exceed the 4 hour rate.
When the 4 movers showed up, only 1 didn't have a cranky attitude. They kept complaining the job would take longer than the time quote. (But their representative did the estimate, so this was unfair to blame me for.)
The next red flag was the foreman/lead named Az was the most unprofessional of all! About 30min in, he asked if he could have a soda, when I said yes, he replied, "Well good cus I already started drinking it!" (Are you kidding?! I don't care about a soda, but it's the common courtesy & professionalism of the matter! You don't take items that aren't yours without asking FIRST.)
After 2 hours I see him roll in a box box with my printer, computer parts & glass picture frames loose with other items, jostling around with no protection or wrapping. When I confronted him about ut, he told me "it doesn't matter because nothing broke!" I've never seen movers be so careless.
I insisted no other items be brought down like this. Which turned into him arguing with me saying that takes too long. (Well I asked for this during the estimate! so they should just do the job right.)
When my boyfriend showed up, Az pretended to play nice. I say "pretend" because he came up & said "sorry about the misunderstanding...BUT (insert excuses)" That's not a real apology when you keep trying to justify your actions!
I responded "I'm not going to argue, please just do it the correctly from now on."
At this point it's been 5 hours & They were almost done with the apartment. But still had the storage unit to do. So kindly, my boyfriend told them that he'd move it himself & once they finished the apartment they could leave. Cus to be honest we just wanted them gone.
This cut an hour off their job. So you'd think they'd be grateful, but no! The foreman asked me to do a walkthrough of the empty apartment & there was a bunch of stuff left! I told him that the rest needed to be moved. His response was "It's past 4 hours. Get your f***ing boyfriend to do it."
How dare he speak to a customer this way! So I told him I wouldn't pay until it was finished.
He said I had to pay because I signed a contract and "this wasn't his f***ing job" because none of this was on it. I asked to see the contact (knowing I had never signed anything) & was shown a piece of paper with no signature.
At this point he was yelling at me & aggressively grabbing the shelving units. So I told him "Actually it IS your job! You can finish the job or I won't pay." And I went back to the new apartment crying.
He finally came back down with only some of the items & Then tried to get my boyfriend to make me pay. We reminded him that I was already letting them go early because we didn't make them move the storage unit. So just finish the job & they'd get paid
He claimed he would be back shortly with the rest. But 30 minutes went by & nothing. So we went back to the old apartment & found he'd left a towel rod outside on the ground & the front door wide open and had left! We had to move the rest of the furnishings from the unit ourselves.
They had the audacity to send me an invoice requesting payment. And made a point to note on the bill "Work Hours Lost: -$200" (as if they were doing me a favor, but again, their rep did the estimate, so they're being petty.)
But I was going to pay full price for a job that wasn't even completed after the horrendous treatment I was given. So I left a message on their voicemail stating I would like a call back from the owner of the company.
I instead received a call from the office manager Erin who was also so rude. I wanted to speak to the owner & her response was "Well too bad, he's on vacation." She then Claimed she wanted to hear my side of the story but as I spoke, butted in and refuted everything I said with claims of what the workers said! Which included the false claim that they'd went "above & beyond to put my curtains up for me." (Which is complete BS! Cus those were two of the items they'd left behind!)
She told me I had to pay "cus I signed a contract." I said no, I never signed anything. She scoffed & told me to call Vlad, the guy who did my estimate. Cus he wanted to talk to me & she was "done with this". (So why did she even waste my time?!)
I called Vlad who finally took responsibility for the estimate, & agreed to my offer to pay half the cost, as the job had not been finished & I'd been treated horribly.
I can't imagine how they are still in business!
