I've been getting my rent jacked up next door at Public Storage and stopped in here. Outside is a little dated but it's a storage facility. What I found is awesome! Manager and wife live in premise. Willing to lock in my price for two years! Offered that I can call if I need special access at times. There are workers maintaining the property daily. Get out of Public Storage! Just on principle. I'm was paying $590 a month on a space I rented 3 years ago for $199. Worse they are offering $199 to new customers today! When I asked for a price reduction they said "No!" So I left. DO NOT RENT FROM UHAUL!!! They DO NOT abide by their contract regarding date and location. They told me that this is only a "preference"!! After having a reservation booked for 2 months, and all arrangements made, we were told that a truck may not be available. The experience was good. I booked the reservation for a moving truck online and from my phone. When I called to verify the reservation they had my truck set aside and ready to go. Juan the manager even stayed open 10 min past closing for me to get there. The return process was a breeze - I just dropped the keys in the mailbox and that was it. I will be back! read more

I called the 800 number and wanted to rent a small trailer for under 20 and the dublin location was full so I was directed here. Small joint but friendly service for just one dude here. Their system was slow, but I didn't mind as everything went smoothly, paperwork was fast to fill out, and we were out of there with our rented trailer in under 20 minutes. Find somewhere else to go. Booked a reservation for a truck online & received a confirmation email that it would be ready at 9:30 on Sunday morning. Verified the times since our move was going to take most of the day & we wanted to make sure we got it all done. So far so good. Sunday morning, we arrive at the facility at 9:20 to make sure we were on-time and waiting out front until 9:30. No movement, no stirring, nothing at 9:30. The sign confirmed the "new" times and after knocking politely still nothing. Tried calling and only got a pre-recorded message. Knocking louder, banging and hollering resulted in the blinds in the apartment upstairs moving but no one came down, acknowledged us or anything. Other people started to show up as well and received no response. We finally cut our losses and left at 10:15, 45 minutes after our scheduled, confirmed pickup time with nothing. I needed a van to move some stuff from storage, i did measurement and turned out i needed something bigger.. I booked a 10' foot Uhaul from this location. Reservation online and pick up was easy and though it was a huge line the representative was very efficient and quick enough to rent out the trucks and move the line very fast given a Summer day and Weekend it is usually rush in the morning hours. I thought this would be another worry free and efficient rental from Uhaul as I did so many time earlier, but the issue came to me as a surprise when i got my bill where in I was charged wrongly for fuel and penalty for returning the truck with less fuel. While renting the truck, the fuel level was lesser than that was mentioned in the contract, but I did not care and thought it would not matter as I was going to drive only 20-25 miles and will surely return the truck with re-fueling. I have put in more fuel than I consumed make sure to check the mark of the fuel gauge to make sure I am not returning short and returned the truck and dropped off the keys. To my surprise after two days I got a bill where in I was charged way lot than what was on the contract. When I reviewed it, they have charged me for penalty for returning with less fuel. I tried to call in to check and verify this but even after calling in 3-4 four time and talking to different people every time they did not take care of my request nor they did verify this return my call. Every time they will say that they will return my call but they never did. This is the worst experience with Uhaul that I ever had in my last 15 years of using their service now and often. I would strongly recommend not to use this Uhaul center and check out any other center in San Ramon and Tri valley area. There are plenty of options. read more

The worst customer service ever. The guy who was renting the equipment with the "Break Stop" workshop logo on his shirt was very rude, unprofessional, and ready to fight for no reason. I had two storage units here . . . twice, the roof leaked and caused major damage to my belongings -- included a custom made burlewood dining table (irreplaceable) and a treasured armoire. Four boxes of memorabilia from my children's school years -- completely ruined. Mold is on all of the wood furniture. Additionally, mouse droppings were EVERYWHERE -- all over my furniture and in boxes. They ate through the matting of my chair cushions and the smell and discoloration have rendered these pieces useless. I called the next day after my move-out to report (as it was after hours) and still no resolution -- the manager, Juan, NEVER returns calls. And their insurance provider has dodged me, as well. And they had the nerve to charge me for the next month's rental -- unbelievable. When renting storage space, there is an expectation that the facility will be protected from roof leaks and rodents. Again, not once, but twice in two units the roof leaked and leaked severely. And no action taken when the mice were reported, as well. Taking legal action now -- and my homeowners insurance company is going after them, as well. What a disappointment after being with them for 3 years. read more

We rented a truck and when returning made sure we had put over the proper amount of gas back in. When receiving a statement for almost $50.00 dollars. I called and they claimed we did not have the right amount of gas in, so my husband went down to check for himself. The rude woman working there was not competent enough to read the gas gauge properly and we were refunded our money!! This after my husband had to explain where the three quarter tank was. Just curious how many others have been charged the same fraudulent fee!!!!! read more

I've been a storage unit customer a few years now and have also used their trucks and vans many a time -- Juan is excellent to work with and will steer you right (no pun intended). I've moved things from other local storage places here just because I appreciate the customer service. read more

We rented a U-haul truck for the day to move belongings 1/4 mile between 2 houses. Service was slow and shockingly unprofessional. I had ordered moving boxes on-line and assumed I'd pick them up at the location. Nope. They were shipped to me...and arrived 3 days after my truck rental date in a very large unmanageable box. I not have the boxes I needed on my moving day and now I have to figure out how to return this huge box to the store or arrange for shipment back to U-haul. How ridiculous is that? I won't be using U-Haul ever again. read more

We have rented Uhauls twice and had great experiences both times. We first used a 14' truck to move my son to UC Davis and just last weekend we used a 10' to move my daughter to UC Santa Cruz. The trucks were clean and in excellent shape. Great customer service. Everything went like clock work. I will definitely rent again. And the person who says they rented a 17' and picked up a 10' has got to be kidding. No way do you mistake a 10' for a 17' truck. And if they are that spatially challenged you should not be driving a 17' truck! read more

It seems to be a very common thread with these guys of not being there when they've given an email confirmation of your reservation. I booked a truck to transport my bike to the track for a track day. Set pickup the evening before at 4.45pm. I got a very clear confirmation email with pickup time and date. I got there at 4.10pm and it was closed. Started calling and got voice mail. Called the 1-800 number and they couldn't do anything other than transfer my reservation to Dublin. So with a disgruntled wife giving me a lift we went to Dublin. Ironically they told us that the SR Blvd site is very poor and they get a lot of people who got the same service. When I was at the site one other person turned up for pick up and another for return. What really rubbed salt into the wound, other than I had to pay for a second day as the extra distance meant I couldn't get truck back within 24 hrs, was when I went to see them the Manager he tried to tell me my reservation wasn't with his site. After showing him my confirmation he still didn't believe me and he called UHaul himself to prove me wrong as he had it on speaker phone. He was proven wrong! Then the idiot told me I made the reservation for the wrong day. Once again I showed him my email reservation and he backed down and just said "nothing we can do other than $50 check for failing to meet contract". I really would advise against this place there's no such thing as customer service and when you make a reservation you make it because you NEED it. So to be let down because they went home is appalling in my mind. BEWARE. read more

Went in here on a Wednesday to rent a small truck for Sunday. The woman at the desk took my name and email address and assured me that a confirmation would be sent about my rental. Unfortunately it didn't. I went in to inquire about the rental and that woman didn't remember me coming in at all. Moreover, she lost my name and email. I would have been out of luck if it hadn't been for another customer that was scheduled to return a small truck an hour before my scheduled (or at least it should have been) rental. read more

My rating is soley due to my HORRIBLE experience with the owner of the Storage Building and his lack of response to my pleas for help with my LEAKING storage unit, his refusal to compensate me in any way for my damaged belongings and ruined boxes, and the fact that he left all communications up to the manager Lori, who truly tried her best to help. I made several attempts to speak with him and finally received an email from him stating that I could take him to court to receive any compensation. He was not even willing to help me move my unit into another one of their units. My entire 3 bedroom home was stored in this unit, so it was not going to be an easy move. I moved my belongings out as soon as I was able to, and will never rent from them again. I chose the space for the cost, but in the end, I lost out. Beware. read more

We currently have two storage units here and are very happy with the service. The guy working behind the counter both times we went was very helpful.. They changed their hours rcently, the office closes at 5pm and when we got there at 5:30 to get our second unit ( we did a very quick move ), he set us up with our second unit anyway! We especially like how all of the units are ground-level. No elevators needed, which is great; we have lots of large furniture. They also pro-rate the first month, as well as the last month if before the 10th, also great for moving on short notice. A+ read more

I reserved a 17' Truck and Appliance Hand Cart for 8/25 @ 10am. After 3 confirmation emails, 2 phone conversations (one the night before), and 1 text message confirmation, the following is what happened: - Truck was reserved for 10am (17' with Appliance Hand Cart). When my husband went to pick up the truck and hand cart, he was told that there would be no truck until 12pm. There was no apology, and nothing was done to try and get us a truck at our originally scheduled time. At 11am when I called back to complain, I was told that there was a truck now, but nobody ever called my husband to let him know as they said they would. When I mentioned this to the employee, she said, "Well, I am talking to you... isn't that good enough? Can't you tell him?" This is completely unprofessional. - There was no hand cart available. Nothing was done to get us one until I suggested that they call another location and get us one ASAP. They did nothing to have the hand cart brought to the San Ramon U-Haul. We had to send one of our friends to pick it up. Not only was the Dublin location hesitant, but explained that this is completely out of the process. Again, no apologies anywhere. The Dublin location did mention that this happens a lot with the San Ramon location. When he went to pick up the hand cart in Dublin, there was a festival with streets blocked off, and then he was questioned by the Dublin employees about the process. - Lori (Manager). Lori did not act like a Manager, and shouldn't be paid to be one. Her Customer Service Skills, or lack thereof, are just blatant and horrible. Not only was she unwilling to help resolve the issues that were created in her store, but she was argumentative, and very unprofessional. She began questioning my integrity and honesty about the confirmation call and who I talked to. I became VERY upset at this point. Then, she hung up on a customer - me. After that, the San Ramon U-Haul phone was placed on busy signal. - Busy Signal. About the busy signal. Three days before (8/22), I attempted calling several times and at different times of the day to confirm my reservation. The phone was set to busy. I called the Dublin location to see if they were aware of any issues at the San Ramon location. They indicated that this happens a lot with the San Ramon location, and told me to call them back if I didn't get the San Ramon location. I still have trouble rationalizing that all of the above happened to us with a U-Haul Company! This IS your service. Horrible customer service! The owner never smiled, told me he was open until 5. I tried to drop off at 12:30 and he had closed even though he said he was open until 5. I didn't want to drop off the key because I had a question and I expected him to be there. So I spoke with him at 4:15 again and now he said he was closing at 4:30. Again...he had said his hours are until 5 but he apparently changes his hours whenever he wants. All the while the truck had been parked there since 12:30 when I had originally gone to return it, just two hours after I rented it ..I just hadn't turned in the key because I had a question but he had decided to take an unofficial lunch break with no one to watch the shop and provide customer service. So two times I tried to drop off and he had decided to close. Move forward to the next day (because he closed earlier the previous day) it was now 10:30.. I was 30 minutes late in returning the key and he charges me for a full extra day ...even though it was he who did not have his doors open like he had said the day before. Totally unacceptable. Totally unreliable, especially for his business where time can actually mean lots of money if you have hired movers etc. He is the owner and feels he can do whatever he wants. If I were the corporate office at uhaul, that doesnt make uhaul look good at al. If he needs to leave for lunch, or leave early for Friday night plans then he should have someone else working there...not shut down the office. I used the car for 2 hours and 4 miles and ended up paying for 48 hours. read more

Hey, if you don't want my money just say so. Second time they promised to call me back (took my phone number) because they clearly had a lot going on and I never heard from them. WOW! The customer service here is beyond anything I could have ever hoped for. I was in a bind and needed immediate help in getting a storage unit and also moving the items I needed to store. Juan (the owner) was amazing! He worked with me to setup fair pricing, facilitate the move, and got everything completed in 24 hours!! Not only did he help with setting up my unit but when the movers were not on time he showed up and moved every item from my home into storage by himself. He is attentive, kind, and an excellent business person. I trust that all of my items will be safe there and that Juan will help me with whatever I need along the way. Pricing is phenomenal and he took all my info over the phone (besides payment) to speed up the move in paperwork process due to my crazy schedule. Rented a truck for a school play to pick up around 1pm. Couldn't get a ride until 3pm to pick up props. They had already rented my truck to someone else. Kids and parents can fit props in cars and were left stranded. I do not recommend. Unapologetic and customer very, very disappointed. Will the show go on? I rented a pickup truck online in advance. went in to get it and it was not available. the woman working at the desk was incredibly rude. this was 4th time i have had a problem with uhaul in last 2 months. I reserve online, think my reservation is all good and go in to get my rental only to find it is not available. I have been sent 20 miles out of my way to get a pickup truck only to find there wasn't one there either. It has been a huge waste of time and effort. I will NEVER rent uhaul again. They either have a policy of overbooking or a big logistics problem. In fact, when i went in a man had come down from Sacramento to rent a trailer at this location only to be sent to San Leandro to pick it up!!!! This is so wrong. My daughter was with me and she had all the info to tell him how to complain to uhaul, get a certificate to comp him $50. That's pretty bad to have customers telling other customers how to talk to customer service and what options are available when you're rental isn't where you rented it. read more

the guy here was fair but not uhaul..... so nothing against the service received here but uhaul and their corporate office and customer service sucks !!!! i spoke to customer service and even spoke to the same lady that had cleared up overcharge matters that took place last month ( belinda the only fair person there).being told all kinds of lies and beating around the bush like i fell of the turnip truck when picking up truck . this company cheats their customer every chance they get. even when you tell them you are filing a complaint if they refuse to be fair. last month rented truck to move same distance and it cost $65.56 and was overcharged and was refunded the extra charges ( total charged before disputing charges.... $95.00). this time going exactly the other direction and they charged me $ 113.11. when a company is dishonest i make sure everyone knows. this is the last time i ever use uhaul. i just received five different answers and all different. please be aware that uhaul is a dishonest company that takes advantage of whats fair and cheats people on a fixed income and disabled. last month got per mile rate at .40 cents ... this month at 1.19 cents a mile. one way or two way ....no matter what they try to rip you off.... called their corporate from customer services suggestion and as they chose to be unfair i told them it would be all over the internet by tomorrow warning everybody about their crooked business practices. u haul sucks !!!! read more
