Went during their soft opening. Cute aesthetics and has nearby parking lot which is a plus! The drinks however need a lot of work. It's way overpriced for what it is. The matcha is very milky and bland. The color should have been a sign for me to not get it. The orange cold brew was ok. Not worth the price. read more

Before I get to the actual review- this new yelp recognitions thing is weird. Why does it showcase one of my lower recognitions vs. the 50+ DAMN reviews I have for the coffee & tea category lmao. I wonder if this is too new of a place, so it's category is still in flux? No idea, anyway- Great space, pretty spacious. Nothing too pretentious, not a try hard, no furniture that looks like it's obviously Temu, all tasteful. I had two drinks- cold brew was great, nothing crazy flavorful or funky but still sensible and balanced. The matcha I had was small (and I was told that beforehand, so it was fine), and it was made well, contrary to some earlier reviews here. Good consistency and I got the bold flavor that I was looking for in that type of matcha; but if you don't want matcha, they have a few espresso soda drinks and other coffee options too. Service was also polite, brought my drinks to me, gave me a complimentary cookie! If we were to compare to other recent cafes that have opened in the past year or two, this is a very, very welcome addition and I'd absolutely drive out to get a drink and chill here. read more

Newest coffee/matcha shop in town! I am not sure how people found out about this place already but this place was packed & had a line when I went. The price difference (6/10 or 16/20) is for the grade of matcha & not for the size of drinks. Inside is nice & minimal. Good vibes. Even espresso machine looks extra fancy. They do take their time to make drinks so gotta be patient. I noticed a small price discrepancy on the menu on the table compared to the menu posted outside & in front of the register. Not sure if the matcha is strong enough for latte because all I could taste was milk. I would come for ambience but not sure if I would come for just their drinks. read more

Stopped by Comet Over Delphi to check out their reserve matcha latte. Compared to their regular matcha latte, this one uses one of their private selection matcha powders. I enjoyed the strong matcha flavors with an earthy, nutty profile. It was very well mixed with the milk. The pairing with the orange-y chocolate biscuit was helpful to balance out the earthiness and bitterness of the matcha. While this was a delicious drink, I've had similar quality matcha lattes that are cheaper in both LA and NYC. Their cheddar and chive scone was pretty standard. I wish it was heated up a little bit more to really soften the inside and crisp up the outer layers. Either way, the cheese and chive flavors came through. The minimalistic coffee shop is aesthetically pleasing and has a calm, serene feel. I love the different seating options from table, high top, couch, to windows ledge/sill. Lots of natural lighting and neutral, earthy colored decor. Perfect place for studying, work, or meeting up with others! read more

Food - 3.75/5 Matcha latte - 3.5/5 They call this A grade matcha and it was just ok. They do mention when ordering that it was just regular low grade matcha and that the S and SOM matcha (not latte) are more "rare" with SOM being the rarest. The person who took our order was right that the matcha latte was ok and nothing really note worthy. SOM Matcha - 4/5 taste - 2/5 price The SOM matcha is basically a shot of matcha with a earthy taste and smooth texture and finish. It was delicious, but definitely not worth the steep $10 cost. Latte - 3.75/5 The latte was good but not something I would say is note worthy that I'd go back specifically for. Service - 3.75/5 The staff is super friendly and what I assume was one (if not the owner) of this coffee shop were super helpful and passionate about coffee and matcha. I understand that at the time of this visit it was during their soft opening so I'm sure they are figuring out flow, staffing and logistics of the sort but it felt slow. They do have only 1 coffee machine, but it seemed like some patrons who ordered before us had been waiting a while for drinks. Ambiance - 4.5/5 I can appreciate the attention to detail of the space. The mix of industrial and mid century modern is pretty well done with a fair amount of seating. I did find it odd they had multiple copies of coffee table books but not sure if they were actually for sale or if it was just for decor. It definitely is a vibe spot to get photos for social or just wanna have cute cafe photos. Overall it's a vibe space, but feels more of a spot because of the vibe vs the coffee is anything super amazing. The menu feels a bit complex (they don't really have descriptions for items (unless you ask, you'd never really know the differences in matcha, what a magic latte is etc) but if you want a spot that's a vibe and a chill place to chat this would be a good spot for that. Maybe, I'll go back after the soft opening to see if things are different, but for now it's a pass for me. Also parking is tough like everything in highland park read more

A super relaxing and convenient spot with matcha, espresso, and non-caffeinated options. I recently tried the butterfly pea ginger iced tea, so tasty. Bonus points for the daily New York Times, the dog friendly interior, and being right next to the Metro A line. However their Wifi doesn't work and they have a suspicious collection of vinyl that appears to have been purchased at Target. read more

It's like the Apple Store of craft coffee. I got a matcha americano for $9 which to my surprise was super potent and very caffeinated compared to any other matcha I've tried. The pastries looked minimal so I wasn't really inclined to try any of them this time. This place attracts very cool people, so when you come here you should stay a while. read more

Hip and nicely decorated. The employee was nice and welcoming, did not just give you the "hey what do you want" attitude . Spacious, good vibes, great matcha. Stopped by yesterday and had one of the most delightful cafe experiences I've had in a while. From the thoughtfully designed space to the genuinely welcoming service, everything felt intentional and cohesive. What stood out most, though, was how every drink offered something familiar yet excitingly different. Each espresso-based drink showcased the cafe's bold, earthy coffee and highlighted unique flavor combinations, making the entire experience memorable! Detailed Review: I first ordered the Kalamansi Espresso Soda and the Summer Einspanner. (a) Kalamansi Espresso Soda This reminded me of an espresso tonic but with a touch of added sweetness. Their espresso leans toward a bolder profile with earthy undertones, which paired beautifully with the tart kalamansi and the tonic's naturally bittersweet notes. The combination of the earthy espresso and the tart syrup created a refreshing finish! (b) Summer Einspänner This had such a unique flavor profile. The lemon cream top made the drink incredibly refreshing and surprisingly complemented the espresso. It almost felt like a light dessert in drink form without being heavy. I really enjoyed how they took familiar espresso drinks and gave them fresh, creative twists. (c) Cortado I became curious about how they prepared their classic coffee drinks, so I ordered a cortado, and I was very impressed. Visually, the milk was steamed perfectly, and the texture was velvety. The temperature and consistency were spot on, allowing the milk's natural sweetness to emerge while still letting the espresso's bold character come through. +highly recommend pairing the cortado with their basque cheesecake. The velvety texture of the cortado complements the cheesecake's rich, thick, and gooey consistency incredibly well. Together, they make for a comforting and well-balanced pairing. Lastly, the service was outstanding. I really appreciated how the barista took the time to explain each drink and offer thoughtful recommendations. It was clear they were knowledgeable and passionate about coffee. I also loved how detail-oriented everyone was (from the presentation of each drink to the overall customer experience). I found that these small details and considerations made the visit feel even more special. I also wanted to take a moment to thank the staff for their efforts, service, and patience :) read more

Was able to check out Comet Over Delphi last weekened and the interior is beautiful. Staff are super friendly and efficient. The drinks are very expensive, I imagine you're paying for their rent or the cost of the interior. This is the type of place you'll go and your drink could end up being $10 pre tip so be warned. That being said, there is plenty of comfortable seating and you can catch up with a friend or people watch and let the day pass away comfortably. Not sure if I'll be coming back anytime soon because of the pricing because there are so many cafes in Los Angeles with great drinks that are priced lower. read more

When trying a new spot, most have that doubt if the place will be a hit or a miss... Well, this place is a big hit and glad I tried it.... Honestly, at first I wasnt impressed with the name (can anyone tell me where the name comes from)... GOOD was the word I thought of after my first sip.... lol Coffee is great, good enough for me to have this place 2 times in 1 week.... This place is pretty cool, minimal decor, music playing in the background with an open layout (windows open to feel that breeze or sit down looking toward the street) I thought this was cool.... and not seen in Highland Park 1 thing i dont agree but I understand you pay for quality... is the size of the cup vs the price.. 5 dollars for a drip and cup is not that big... but its worth it... Pastries didnt catch my eye, yes they look good, a good variety also, but none stood out for me to get one... But the drip coffee was great The shaken was well balanced, definitely can taste the coffee Friendly staff, no issues Street parking available, or a parking lot steps away... Surprised with this place, even the name Surprised me when I first heard about it... Definitely will go back... So when you go.... Enjoy!!..... read more

I've been here a few times now and cannot overstate how kind the workers are. I honestly don't usually care all that much about service as long as it hits a very low baseline, but literally every interaction I've had with them has been remarkable. I've had two coffee drinks (latte and Magic), and two matcha's (latte and iced). They don't sweeten much by default here, but they're happy to if you ask. Honestly, they pretty much accommodate everything. Just ask them about the drink you're considering and tell them how you usually like it. They'll hook you up without making you feel like you're asking for too much. It's also a great place to meet some friends or get some work done as long as you can find a table or counter. read more

With seventeen new coffee spots popping up every nine minutes all over the Eastside, and almost every single person who lives in Irvine heading up for an Instagrammable Matcha Latte to shoot on a Sony A7 camera on a daily basis, making for crowds and lines, I find myself seeking that one place that maybe isn't quite so trendy but that still has a vibe. I mean, I waited in line in the rain for 45 minutes in K-town the other day for a matcha with a friend. This is not a good use of time. But I digress: this review is about Comet Over Delphi, and if you're running short on time, let me save you some: this place is perfect, unique, and a true addition to the cultural and social landscape of the area. I mean, even the name. Is that a Sun Ra LP title? A rare celestial occurrence? Code for the optimal coffee buzz? Whatever it is, they get it right. It's located a little off the beaten path. The wood-lined front window is also a seat. There are very beautiful textures of marble, brick, cement, and wood intersecting in intriguing ways. A stunning Aremde espresso machine sits on the counter, a metallic counter-point to all of the texture, something that could pass for an interplanetary portal. High ceilings, leather sofas, plenty of spaced out places to seat, and kind employees are also present. Maybe this is another hint about the name. Space is the Place. And the menu -- we caught matcha lattes and pastries from the OG Café Tropical. A guava cream cheese from said establishment was one of the first things I connected with after moving to 90026 a long-ass time ago, so it was nice to have another. There are some very creative drinks on the menu, too. I loved how the drinks came out with two small cookies on a metal platter that echo'd the elliptical shape of the espresso machines. All very intentional and calming in a Le Cime kind of way. I think it's also noteworthy that my friend and I were able to have an impassioned extended conversation without any disruption from the employees -- in fact, one came by just to grab our dishes and give the table a wipe-down 'so we could continue enjoying each other's company' -- and that's a vibe. And Comet is full of vibes but in a very relaxing way. And in a city that is in challenge and flux, sometimes vibes matter most. read more

I'm a sucker for cafe with cute names!! The cafe has a lovely ambiance and the large, open windows really adds to its laidback vibe. My friend had the matcha yuzu and it was refreshing! I tried their matcha latte with oat milk (I didn't add sweetener) and had a darker, almost bitter taste. The drink was also more watery than milky in taste. I prefer my matcha on the sweeter end so I should've ordered it with sweetener, but I recommend it without for those who prefer their matcha non-sweet! It is a nice place to work and study but the cafe can get full so seating might be tricky! Parking wasn't difficult as there was a parking lot nearby and street parking is available. (+) great ambiance, big open windows (+) high quality matcha selection available but is pricier (+) friendly service (+) good for work/study and hang outs (+) parking lot nearby, space for street parking ( ) costs extra to have sweetener with your matcha read more

The space is thoughtfully designed. There's plenty of seating, but it doesn't feel cramped or stuffy at all. I really liked how they incorporated the beams in the middle to create a natural standing area without disrupting the flow. Even though the line was pretty long when we arrived, it moved quickly and efficiently, which I appreciated. When we got to ordering the owner thanked us for being patient and even took a little time to explain how his wife designed the space. We ordered the Spanish latte and the matcha. The Spanish latte was excellent! Perfectly balanced, smooth, and not overly sweet. The matcha, however, leaned a little too bitter for my taste and could have used a touch more creaminess or sweetness to round it out. They're in their soft opening era so I'm sure it'll be tweaked more. Overall I definitely would come back if the line dies down but it's not something I would line up for read more

the ambience of the cafe and the baristas themselves are very nice, i definitely could see how this would be a nice place to meet up with friends or lock in for a study sesh. however, all of that niceness was undercut by the quality of their drinks. their matcha lacked depth and truly just tasted like almond milk. their iced latte was slightly better, but was also very acidic, which personally does not align with my taste in espresso. we were so disappointed by how awful our drinks tasted, especially with how beautiful the place was. maybe it was just the drinks we got, but we don't see ourselves going back, especially with all the other great cafes in hp! read more

Happened upon Comet on a walk in our neighborhood. We are locals so I'm familiar with the coffee spots nearby but hadn't seen Comet yet. LOVE THIS PLACE. New favorite spot in town. Anytime I order a flat white and it's the correct temp (not too hot) and the person doesn't say "what size?" (That's not a thing... flat white is 8oz max) then I'm happy. In an era where Highland Park coffee shops are ubiquitous you have to be great. This isn't that. Great design, seating, and overall atmosphere. Coffee is just okay. They don't offer anything special and no vanilla syrup. Lumen or Modu are better. Alfred, La Monarca, and Go Get em Tiger are about just as good and only a short walk away. UPDATE: I find myself returning to Comet Over Delphi more often than anticipated -- not just for the consistently excellent service (still thoughtful, still unhurried), but for something harder to categorize: the atmosphere. There's a peculiar, magnetic comfort here -- a kind of engineered softness. The low-slung leather seating and carefully placed "living room" furniture create a spatial rhythm that invites lingering, not rushing. It's architecture doing emotional labor. Add to that a lo-fi soundtrack that never insists on itself -- just hovers in the background like an introvert with impeccable taste -- and you've got an ambience that makes even phone-scrolling feel intentional. It's not just a coffee shop. It's a room-sized mood board that happens to sell cortados. Still not sure the business model makes sense. But as a place to exist -- to think, not-think, or quietly dissolve into ambient conversation -- it keeps pulling me back. read more

I don't want to give a good review of this place because I don't want it to blow up and change. This place deserves all of the stars Simply put, it's the best tasting, strongest espresso in town. Unless you're looking for one of those adventurously flavored sweet milky drinks (in which case, you can go across the street to Monarca) this is the place to go the best, espresso drink anywhere in town. On top of that, although this place looks like you would get the stereotypical unimpressed hipster service, everyone I've dealt with there has been entirely pleasant and helpful.
