Cute coffee pop-up inside Cheerio Collective. Small, simple menu with high quality coffee (brewing Tomodachi). I got a Sakura Matcha - one of the few local places that offers sakura drinks, and the only one I've seen with their own homemade sakura syrup. The matcha was perfectly made and the sakura taste was delicate but flavorful. Service was super friendly too. I'd highly recommend this place.

i absolutely love stopping by whenever i find myself in highland. it truly feels like a hidden gem the city was missing! from the quality of the beans to the variety of their seasonal menu, everything feels intentional and thoughtfully crafted. what makes the experience even more special is the authenticity the owners Amzi and Aubrey bring into everything they do! their passion for the craft creates such a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and it's the kind of place that makes you want to slow down and savor the experience.

Specialty coffee

Amzi and Aubrey are so cool and they make some of the best coffee in town. I have never met a cuter pair who are as dedicated to craft as they are. Highly, highly recommend Vanskap. Not only do they serve delicious specialty coffee, they have the knowledge to tell you all about it what in that cup! Definitely my go to spot in highland park now

this place is sooo soo good! i highly recommend this spot. they are very knowledgeable about tea and coffee. they were telling me they make their syrups from scratch and they're careful about where they source their ingredients. they also go to a special roaster for their beans, and it shines in the beverage. if you want to support a small, hard working, kind, and talented business i highly recommend this place!

The problem with this place falls on most of the staff. I don't think I've ever walked away from completing a transaction without feeling put off. Especially when I've gotten in line and the person on register is hanging out with someone and has to step away to assist. Genuinely it feels like you're an inconvenience for wanting to support this business, based on the short almost annoyed responses you get from asking questions or saying you need a moment to look at the menu. I still come in because I was disappointed when the old location closed and like I said I love the drinks here, but the service unfortunately makes even the sweetest iced coffee taste bitter.

I first went here a little more than a year ago during their first year of opening, and since visiting again recently, they've upgraded a lot! Their seating and furniture got more comfy and spacious. Some of the wooden decor got an uplift. Clean aesthetic and great coffee all around, from their signatures to cortados. They've even added a food menu which is great, as they used to just serve straight up drinks. Workers tend to be working strictly behind the bar and barely see them out in the open floor, which leaves the floor pretty open and private and spacious enough for you to hole up on your laptop. It's a great spot to work, but it can also get crowded on the weekends. Most people come and go, and they funnel through drinks and orders pretty efficiently. Overall, one of my favorite gems in the area. The Miel Cream Top and Black Sesame Cortados are favorites of ours! Love how espresso-forward they are without ever being overly sweet. Their balance of flavors as to not overpower is perfection. As a big matcha drinker, I've yet to try their matcha (they're an espresso club!), but I'm sure it's great seeing how they prepare their drinks!

I came during a major heat wave in LA. Not a good idea but I was very eager to come & see & I didn't want to wait. Explored the pretty large nursery of various plants first. Prices were reasonable, plants were healthy, the shopping experience was fun & different. I claimed some plants in my head to go back to purchase after coffee. Went inside the very well air conditioned cafe. it was animated inside, inviting, and smelled good As coffee always does. It was small but did have some seating ( I believe 2 tall tables with tall chairs to go with). So excited to find that as part of their plant nursery there is a very large greenhouse w/ several table & chair setups. Large ceiling fans as well. More plants to view &/or purchase. That's where I settled down to drink my coffee! (Was very surprised to see many others however out in the high heat looking comfortable and unbothered!) There's table & chair seating throughout. Coffee was good! They had a good selection. I got an Americano. They have alternative milks as well. Next time I will ask for my coffee extra hot. After coffee, went to make the purchase of the plants I picked. Was thinking I'd need to go back into the cafe to pay but what a surprise! By accident, I found even more...a cute little store full of fun and interesting plant related goodies! planters, books, clothing, and all kind of things. Many things can be given to another plant lover as a gift. The very friendly cashier was present to assist if needed and ring up my planties. We had a great conversation and I got great advice on how to take care of the plants I purchased. What an enjoyable experience everything was. Will definitely be back.

The staff felt like one of a small local joint, and the baristas were so so kind to my daughter. There was also local art plastered all over the walls and it really set the vibe. I ordered the Banana Terracotta latte and it was divine. My daughter got a latte with honey (I don't think it was on the menu? I don't recall, but they did it to her requests anyways) and they were so sweet and adjusted it just to her liking. They also entertained her conversations which made her day. Another big bonus of this place is they are also dog friendly! They have a large back patio of artificial grass. I was nervous she might pee on it, but she did not. It was so cozy in the back and I'd love to go back again soon. It seems like such a nice place to read, collect my thoughts, or work on my computer. I unfortunately live about an hour away, so I'm not sure when my next visit will be, but I took my dad for Father's Day and he said he would love to go again. It was terrific.

The space, the people, the food, the community...it is the complete package. What a glorious place to have in your neighborhood. I love mole, and this is the cream of the crop. Excellent mole! Even my partner, who often finds it too bitter, thought this one was fantastic. I cannot wait to have it again. I have thought about it often since we ate here! Just the finest most balanced, rich, beautiful flavor and texture. Made me want to put it on everything! My partner is always on the hunt for good lemonade, and it can be surprisingly hard to find a truly flavorful one. Lola's has excellent lemonade (so rare!). If you find yourself likewise hard to please with this drink, Lola's has your back. We also had some Oaxaca Choco Lattes with excellent flavor and the perfect level of sweetness. I prefer a less sweet drink and often order half sweet most places, but these were fantastic, just as they come. Excellent silky foam, just the right temperature, just the right level of chocolate... I look forward to having another one on our return. The Short rib special of the day was incredible, truly. Just the most perfectly cooked bone-in beef rib, over rice, and covered in their outstanding mole. I will order this every time they have it on the menu! It was worth every penny and then some. We also got the Oaxacan Eggs, which were layered up between tortillas like a pancake stack and covered in their superb mole. This was very filling because of the tortillas, but they were so fresh and so good. We also got a salad on the side which was also super fresh, really nice light dressing and excellent flavors all around - so simple and yet so good. They also very kindly brought us a sample of their banana bread, and holy moly - it was so moist, had excellent texture & flavor, and was served w fruit and cream and some sort of oat/seed mix on top. This was such a good pairing of flavors & textures. I'm not normally a banana bread fan, but this won me over! I would order this next time in a heartbeat. As always, big big appreciation for the fact that they have real organic maple syrup. They also brew their own brand of coffee. They put such care into all of their dishes, from the ingredients to the preparation, to the presentation. The service is warm, personable, welcoming, knowledgeable, and just so kind. They were very helpful regarding allergens and ingredient questions. They really made us feel at home here, and took such good care of us. We sat outside and they were so incredibly welcoming to everyone who walked up to check out the menu. This is the kind of business that you just love to support. The quality of heart and skill here is beautiful. They have built a real feeling of community that we should all be lucky to be able to participate in. I cannot wait to come back.

Besides the friendly staff, my first visit to Rock Coffee was lackluster. The coffee was OK and the environment was not inviting, so I basically wrote it off. Fast forward to March of 2026... I saw Rock Coffee was under new management and hosting a weekly game night on Wednesdays. They have made some major improvements. The large work space had been upgraded with plenty of tables, comfortable seating, and good natural light. The coffee quality had markedly improved. It looks like they have a brand new espresso machine and the staff has clearly been trained on how to use it properly. One of the best espressos I have had in LA. The playlist is great too and there is an adjacent lounge that you can rent for meetings, parties, or classes. In keeping with the theme of community, they even have a basket where you can leave (or take) an encouraging note, which I think is quite nice. The day of my visit I had a pleasant encounter with barista Izzy. She was as sweet as can be and prepared my Cortado with care and handed it to me with a smile.
