Dealing with comcast, Exfinity customer service is a nightmare!! One agent will put you on hold so long another agent comes on and you have to start all over. No help at all. In the past 2 months we have basically paid over $800 and every 2 weeks they shut us off and it takes days of arguing with them to get it back on. Now they are telling us the account was closed and a new one started. Not by me!! I didn't start a new account and they say the serial number on the modem must be wrong, it's not registered yet we have had the service for over 2 years. If I could rate zero stars I would. I've had Comcast for years, and while they're pricey, they're still better than DSL, right? Maybe not! So I had to get a replacement TV box and go to the service facility on Milwaukee (which has absolutely terrible hours - very inconvenient to get to if you actually WORK) and exchange it. When I finally get around to calling Comcast to get the box to sync up the lady I speak with sends the resync signal to the box, and tells me it'll be a few minutes before any of the channels come through. Not only did the TV box never get any signal, but she somehow blew out my internet modem, too. I immediately call back and cannot get ANYONE on the phone to fix the issue. I am shuffled around to four people and am finally told that somehow my modem is blown out and I'll need to place it as well. Really? Absolutely terrible customer service - they're nice enough on the phone if you treat them OK, but they won't help you fix your issues. And that's really what customer service is. Servicing the customer. If there were ANY other alternative to Comcast other than AT&T for internet I'd jump ship in a heartbeat. Maybe that's why they oppose competitive markets so much. read more

We recently returned to Comcast after having WOW for a few years. We initially switched to WOW because Comcast was always going out on us and the response from customer service was minimal. Well, WOW's rates increased and then a Comcast guy came to our door and offered a really good deal for a bundle of services. He convinced us that Comcast has rectified all those glitches that affected the system and the customer service was now a huge priority. So everyone was very friendly, very professional, etc etc, until we signed up with them and THEN: back to poor service and no responsiveness from the company. The cable box never worked right, and a guy did come out to try to address this. For some reason the remotes weren't programmed correctly, so those were replaced. The problems then recurred and got worse. Watching TV became a chore. Eventually they said we could bring the cable box to them for a replacement--this is after they admitted that the issue was indeed with the cable box. They offered to send a tech to the house--for a $30 fee. Why should we spend thirty bucks when they gave us a defective piece of equipment? My husband went to this facility and waited over an hour for an exchange, and the thing STILL doesn't work right! This is only one tiny slice of our experience. For all of you considering a switch to Comcast: don't !! Save yourself a big headache. For those of you who did switch and think that change is possible and Comcast is worth a second look: it isn't. read more

Really horrible experience with them as a new customer. Our appointment was from 5pm-7pm. After waiting at home the whole day and realized it was 6:45 and still no technician we called customer service and was told that the technician said he did come and tried calling but got a busy signal. Really? A busy signal on a cell phone? Even so he could've also rang the doorbell cause we do have a working one, which by the way he didn't bother doing. When asked if they can do something to accommodate us for a sooner appointment both rep and supervisor said they couldn't get us anything sooner and we would have to wait until Tuesday which is 5 days away. To top it off they said there was no way they can reach the technician to confirm that he properly followed all procedures to contact us. How can you not have a way to call one of your techs?? This was by far the worst customer service I ever experienced. And I work in customer service. We had to reschedule the appointment for Tuesday and we asked for another 5-7, when we called care again 10 min later the appointment we rescheduled for 5-7 had been made for 3-5! Well, I guess it's a good thing I'm moving! I called on 11/13/18 to advise of my move and to set up an appointment for new service. The guy I spoke with was okay, but we had to go over things twice because he or I didn't understand what service I wanted. Ended up, deleting my land line phone and in return, I would get a home security system - installation free - in new location and price of system would be about the same as the phone. Great! He told me he had an opening for Saturday and I was happy and looking forward to it. Saturday came - no one came. No one called. Sunday- same except, funny thing - when I went to my emails confirming my order - they refused to load!!!! When I called Comcast - they said there was no order pending!!! Of course, then the offices closed down and they advised me to call M-F when the sales personnel was working. So - order placed 11/13/18 - supposed to be done 11/17/18 - NOT DONE. Denial of any order 11/18/18. Next call 11/19/18. I am seriously considering going to AT & T or Direct TV. Has got to be better than this!!! read more

Just absolute, pure extortion. The company is notorious for roping you in on a "promotional" price and then threatening you one year later that your rate will effectively double if you do not lock in a brand new magical promotional rate that happens to coincide with your expiring contract. Be sure to also double check your monthly bills after the original offer because it is not uncommon that a $2-$8 recurring monthly charge will show up on your bill. I guess the thinking is they can get away with it because who would dare sit through the abysmal customer service line to recoup $20 or $40 (a year). Well, i did, and i did get the money back and they admitted to charging me extra in error. The reason it's not 1 star or negative stars is that in one year of service there was only one instance of service outage and generally the speed of internet is enough to manage multiple smart devices at an appropriate speed. The WORST costumer service I have ever received in my life. One day my internet is shut off. I called to find out my auto-payment wasn't collected. The agent I spoke to was unable to tell me what had happened, confirms all my payment information is correct, turns my internet back on and says everything is fixed. Nope. Next month, SAME problem. My auto payment wasn't collected through no fault of my own. My card isn't expired, my card isn't bouncing, and the agent can't explain what is happening. There is also a PAST due amount? Even though I called the month previous and was assured everything was fixed. On my second phone call to xfinity I'm told my "past due" amount will be submitted to be credited to my account. Well it wasn't credited to my account. The request was denied because, "I need to pay for the services I used". I tried to pay for them. I enrolled in auto pay then called TWICE when XFINITY failed to collect payment. So my internet is turned off for a 3rd time because of this mysterious "past due amount" I'm TRYING to pay. But by the third time I have to call costumer service, I'm not calling to pay, I'm calling to cancel. The first agent I spoke with told me she couldn't cancel for me, she transferred me to a department that also said they couldn't help me. After that transfer I was told I was out-of-district and needed to be transferred AGAIN. he transferred me to the department for consumers with disabilities. Wrong department. AGAIN. Then that department tells me the department I need is closed and I will have to call back the next day. It felt like a huge joke. I haven't even done anything wrong. Your company failed to collect payment, then just jerked me around for 3 months. This is the worst costumer service I've ever received in my entire life. read more

I am extremely upset and disappointed with Xfinity, and this is only my first week of service. On Saturday I had an installation appointment scheduled and a guaranteed arrival time of 1-3pm. The tech arrived at 11am, and when we answered the door and told him he was early and we weren't ready for him and he just walked in anyway. At that point we figured we'd let him proceed but were upset by this surprise. During his time with install, he left to get some equipment and came back into the house without knocking or ringing the bell, simply opening the closed door, inappropriate as far as I'm concerned. He also began moving furniture without mention or asking first, and upon attempting to move a piano by himself without permission, nearly knocked over a precious family heirloom clock that was on top. Thankfully I noticed him moving it from the other room and came in to stop him and help after securing the items on top. We were disappointed with his lack of respect for our home and personal items and our time, and called to make someone aware of our complaint. Unfortunately it goes from bad to worse now. We spoke with a gentleman at customer service who assured us a supervisor would hear our complaint and would call us back within 5 minutes and gave us a ticket number. After 20 minutes no call was received and we were again very upset with the disrespect for our time and business. About 30 minutes after the initial call, we received a call back from a random person at Comcast who said she had a missed call from our number (which makes no sense to us). She stated she was not a supervisor, had no knowledge of our issue, and passed us back to a customer service agent. That agent said supervisor call backs are within 24 hours not 5 minutes and he's not sure why we were promised that. Now, over 48 hours later and I have received no call or follow up from anyone about this issue. Needless to say with a 30 day window to change my mind before I lock in to 2 years with Comcast, I'm finding it very difficult to trust or stay with a company that is unable to provide satisfactory installation, or any form of basic customer service. read more

Yes 5 stars. I can hardly believe it myself. A Comcast sales rep was knocking on doors in my neighborhood last fall. He was looking to sign up people like myself that had Direct TV. The sales rep did a good job selling me, but I was nervous. I went for the Comcast Xfinity package which is voice, data, and TV. The numbers made sense, roughly $129/month for all services. In my case I came out ahead roughly $75 per month after canceling Direct TV, AT&T voice, and AT&T Internet. Installation took almost a whole day. There were no mistakes. My Internet is blazing fast, although I am not a power user. My home telephone service is great. Comcast ported my home # with no problems and I love their HD tv. Direct TV was ok. I don't watch a ton of TV, but like everyone else if the weather is bad, I am on my couch. The problem with Direct TV is that you can lose some or all of the signal during heavy rains or snow. In addition, Direct TV screwed up its arrangement with Versus last year and hence, I missed a ton of my Blackhawks games. Comcast has great programming, all the local stations, tons of sports. I am most impressed with their OnDemand. Their On Demand has access to thousands of hours of programming including premium channels (if you subscribe). Hence, if you want to watch a movie or catch up on the Sopranos, no problem. My slight critiques are, that their DVR's that are included are nor terrific. It is a little hard to fast forward and then stop when you want to. Also, their music channels are good not great. However these are minor issues. Bottom line, I have loved Comcast so far. There were zero negative issues with installation, and I am saving $75 per month. I am not shilling for Comcast and I am not an employee of Comcast. In my case, switching over to them has been 100% positive. read more

I live in Hyde Park and placed my order with a rep. in Tennessee. Having had a terrible experience with AT&T after about 20 years of being a customer, I switched to COMCAST. FIrst they told me there was no such address where I live (2 blks. from the Obamas), even though I have lived here for 11 1/2 yrs.. Did not honor the promotion they offer on the internet,to my area Called the next day and got an open phone with people talking and no one on it. Kept saying "Hello" for two minutes and hung up. Called back and the person told me there is no such address where i live. Somehow got through that and placed an order. Put me on hold for "a few seconds" and I had to hang up after 5 minutes as I was running low in my minutes on my cheap cell phone. Called back and was again told there is no such address where I live. Was told I had to open an account and when I told her that what I was trying to do, she told me I had the wrong phone number. Told her I had just placed an order and they were getting the installation date for me and after 5 minutes I had to hang up. Said I had the wrong number, checked and said there was no information on me, and gave me another number. ' Called and was told there is no such address where I live. Told him when I moved into the place there was CONCAST TV connected and for nearly ten years I had been calling them to tell them to disconnect it. After ten years they finally did. Checked and said I lived in the condo across from mine. Told him I didn't and that I bought the condo from the people that had the TV connection I had been calling about for years. Said COMCAST must have put the wrong address down. Placed the order and verified the price. Told me because I had had so many problems he would drop the installation fee from $79.99 to $39.99. Verified that the cost would be the service and the installation fee. Told me I was correct. Came out and installed whatever they do and I got a bill for what we had agreed was the price, plus $10/mo rental of their modem (never mentioned to me), and the installation fee was only $20, but to have someone come out and install it was $39.99 more. When I called about the bill and to tell them that my TV (Which I had to take with the order to get the internet cheaper) was all analog, no HD. Told them that I had gone to Target and purchased a HD antenna for $19.99 and had as many channels as they were providing, plus they were all HD. Said they would have someone come out to "fix" it, but they could do nothing about my bill. At that point I cancelled and didn't have to pay anythibng as I had only had their service for 6 days. read more

A sales rep came to our house 2 days ago and wrote a contract for service. The installation rep just left about 30 minutes ago. Avoid this company at all cost, it not, it will cost you!!! The sales rep offered Digital HD for $49 for 12 months on THEIR CONTRACT. Here's what we actually got: NO HD, AND A HIDDEN INSTALLATION FEE OF $29. The sales rep and the customer service rep we talked to afterwards acted as if they don't have to honor their own contract. Guess what? If it were the other way around, they would nail me to that contract. I told Comcast my concerns......their answer was to accept a higher rate or return the equipment. So, they screwed up and I have to burn my gas to give them their equipment back. And I've got to tell folks.....YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR HD. And here's why. Broadcast stations like CBS, NBC, AND WGN for example, send their signal out in HD, then COMCAST converts the signal to analog and charges the customer to upgrade the signal back to HD. After having Comcast for a few months we discovered there was no back up battery in the modem. Thinking this was a mistake I called Comcast and in the first phone call they said they would mail a battery. After 3 weeks and no battery, I called again, spoke to two different people after long waits, only to be told that the battery is not included and if I want one it will cost me $35.00 plus shipping. This is the battery that ensures that you have phone service in an emergency when there is no power in the house. Power can be off if there is a fire that effects your circuit breaker box. Power can be down due bad weather. In order to call 911 in situations when there is no power, a back up battery is necessary. For a company that is providing phone service, they are neglecting an essential service. No where in the advertising, during the sign up stage or service stage was it ever mentioned that I would need to pay extra for a battery. During these aggravating calls, I was given the number for their Back Up Battery Sales Team so that I could purchase this essential piece. I suspect that if a company has to have an entire Sales department to deal with this battery situation, they have a huge problem. Unless it is their intention to rip off their customers. I will be cancelling Comcast as soon as possible. read more

This is by far the most ghetto Comcast service office on the south side and what's sad about this location is that you'll see a gang of people who are late with the cable bill. Many arguing about unusual charges when they need to take that out on the people in their house running up the bill with pay per view fights and adult movies. You're having to wait in line for 15-20 minutes because some idiot is being told that their bill was 2 months overdue and explaining to them the late fees. I went to the Comcast location on North Avenue and was in and out of there in a matter of 5 minutes using their automated machine. Not to mention the unprofessional conduct of the employees when they'll shut a window down to take their lunch break when they have high traffic and there's only 2 windows open to handle the backup of customers. The Western location seems to have a problem with their automated system to pay bills since the thing gets stuck and is constantly rebooting itself not to mention it's always slow as molasses. I am going to stick to the North Avenue location since they get you in and out of there and not waste time since they have a separate window for bill payments away from the actual customer service windows. read more

Xfinity Comcast Customer Service is the worst I have ever experienced. They always pride their commercials about being helpful and putting the customer first. Well I can tell you this first hand, that is false. Comcast called our house to let us know that there was a special and for the same price we were paying they would give us Showtime and HBO. Thinking this was so nice of them to let us know we verbally agreed to it. Our bill use to be $80.00. After we agreed to this our next bill was $135. I called the customer service to work out what had happened and they basically told me that i agreed to pay more a month. When i said that was not the case they called me a liar. We didn't even need showtime and hbo. we only got it because it was free. I should of known it was to good to be true. Nothing comes free in life. When i said i wanted to go back to my original price, they said they were not offering cable at that price anymore and there was nothing they could do for me. I told them to listen to the recorded call since they say in the beginning that the call is being recorded and they told me no. They didn't have time to do that. All in all you are terrible Comcast. I went in for the third time in 2/months to see why my bill is so high since I was promised by Hector, one of the managers at the Western location. I originally went to him in Feb 2017. He assured me the bill would be 146.00 with taxes included by March 2017. Since feb, 2017, i have paid them close to 1000.00 !!! Today they wanted another 471.00 out of a 600.00 bill, as they bill 1 month ahead. The rude manager that was there today said you owe this amount. Its preposterous to try to get another 471.00 out of me and I made my frustrations known. She flung my bill back at me and said your cable is now interuppted til you pay it!!! This for 2 tvs and internet. They are ripping people off so badly you can see every customer in the place has a grievance. First, I mistakenly parked in what I think was the employee parking lot and one of the employees kindly let me know that I needed to park in the next lot over. He apologized for the inconvenience. Then the representative at the counter was very friendly and made sure I was all set. Even though the glass partitions at the counter and the number of (comfy leather) chairs in the waiting area made me feel like I was walking into a DMV, I received excellent service and was so impressed.
