Man, I LOVE Combo Express. Maybe it's the good memories from high school of getting a combo plate and going to sit in the halls to share with a friend. Maybe it is the sweet staff who always knows what my order is and who are always friendly and provide quick service or maybe it is just the consistently great food I have had here over the last 15 years. The food here is terrific Chinese steamtable, the price is cheap (under $7 for a huge portion of rice or noodles and two entrees), portions are extremely generous and there is always a fresh dish being carried out from the kitchen whenever I walk in. The potstickers (place an order! Don't just get the ones from the steamtable although those are good too!) are amazing! Huge, delicious, moist, and the bottom is soOo crispy! Also, the wor won ton soup and chicken and corn chowder are always delicious and a perfect way to warm up on cold days. I stopped because of all the high reviews. It is not worth it. First, the fried rice had meat in it, and since I can't identify it, I could not eat it, orange chicken was crispy, but tasteless. So i decided to finally try this place i got the egg rolls sweet and sour chicken and chow mien. Chow mien dry and tasteless no meat or veggies uck. Sweet and sour chicken barely got any chicken pieces sweet sour sauce was ok chicken was very chewy you get what you pay for. Oh man....you can't go wrong with Combo Express. If you're craving a heaping box of kinda greasy take out Chinese food filled to the brim for cheap, look no further. You don't come here for a gourmet meal (so temper your expectations), but the quality of their food is nothing to scoff at - I haven't had anything from Combo that I didn't like. I'd rank it near the very top as far as "fast food" Chinese places go (and I'd for sure pick this place over Panda Express 10 times out of 10). Whenever I get my two combo plate I can split it into two meals no problem and I'd consider myself a relatively big eater. All of the workers here are nice, they crank food out of the kitchen quickly (since the demand is usually pretty high), and there's always a line when I go so you know they're doing something right. I absolutely LOVE combo express!!! When I come home for the weekend from school and I'm craving chinese food, this place is one of the places I rush to! Their portions are more than generous. We saw customers coming and going here and assumed that would be a good indicator. Actually, to be fair my husband was only enamored of the orange chicken. I had what was called chicken chow mein; tons of heavy noodles, never found any chicken in it, with a few carrot shreds and a couple of slivers of cabbage and onion. Honestly they should consider reading their reviews and make sure we will come back. I've been there twice, now, so I guess I've happily joined their ranks. The food is all fresh and "home-made." My faves/recommendations? The Egg Flower Soup and Pot Stickers. For less than $15, this is enough food for 3+ delicious meals! The ladies who work there are super friendly and remember everyone (and their orders). I've also tried the orange chicken, which is fresh and delicious (but don't expect the sugary sweetness of Panda Express - this is more traditional). Truly, a hidden gem! I wanted a quick byte to eat for lunch and had a craving for Chinese. I think ill go for Thai next time. Wonton soup with cartilage instead of meat. Crab and cheese wonton, is ok. Super greasy pot stickers. This is the worst food ive ever had. I will not go this place again and I feel sorry for whoever has to eat this food. I dont know how people give this 4+ stars. Please try some other Chinese restaurants. Greasy everything is a bad thing. Poor meat quality is a bad thing. I am definately a fan of Combo Express. The building itself isnt much to look at, as its in a tucked away in a crowded shopping center, but you can always find close parking. The inside is clean, and there always seems to be a couple people eating inside. Now to the food, killer chicken! the spareribs are good as well, but im hooked on that chicken now.
