I hunted the island since Dec. looking for a dresser. I had something in mind and after searching every furniture store outlet in the vicinity of Honolulu and on line I pretty much gave up. The inventory was either too expensive or too large for the space. Thank goodness I came across an ad for a dresser listed on FB Market. It was exactly the style and color I wanted, and I saved so much money! It was one third the price, and looked just identical to the dresser I saw in one of the local furniture stores. I wanted to send a big mahalo to Grace the store owner, and the two employees Allene and Kilana for keeping it safe so it was there for me when I got to the store today. Why didn't I ever finish this review? I guess moving, upcoming trips, birthdays, and holidays get in the way but it's been 6 months and we are still doing fabulous with my go to girl, Lana. We text as a way of communicating our needs which is so helpful especially with a child that keeps me busy. We rented the furniture for our whole apartment, buying a little bit at a time and replacing the furniture we rented. She would get her people out to us fast and they did all the work of setting it up or taking it down. I would give zero stars if I could. We moved into an unfurnished apartment and rented furniture from Color Tyme. They came and only brought half of the furniture we ordered. Most of what they brought was wrong and not what we ordered. We were told there wasn't enough room on the truck and they would be back, but they didn't come back. After repeatedly calling the store, we finally got ahold of the manager Doug, but he tried to blame us, saying we ordered the furniture too late. No one said that when it was ordered. Also, the ordering process was difficult. After spending hours selecting furniture we had to come back to finalize the rental. We waited for over three hours for the manager to come back and agree to the pricing, but he didnt come back to the store and we went forward with the rental anyways. Now that is being used as an excuse against us as to why they messed up our order. We also asked for a rental agreement with the furniture itemized, but they did not give us one. I will update my review tomorrow after the rest of the furniture is delivered. read more

I wanted to share my recent experience with this store. I was on a hunt for a contemporary, comfortable, perfect size, well made yet that wasn't going to break the bank kine sofa and there it was at ColorTyme Kalihi! I called ahead and spoke with the manager to see if they had what I was on a hunt for. From our conversation, I knew they had my sofa so I rushed over to the store. My sofa was on a display but all the staff was so friendly and kind, they offered to take it down so that I can sit on it and test it out. It turned out the sofa was Ashley furniture. It was super comfy, and in perfect condition. And the best part was the cost of that sofa was best in town. They gave me the option to buy it outright or rent. The staff explained the pros and cons of purchasing outright vs renting. I needed expedited delivery and they squeezed me in to their busy delivery schedule, just so that my sofa will be delivered on the day of my move to my new apartment! Not only they had the exact sofa I was on a hunt for but all of the staffs customer service was on point. The delivery came right on time, too. They are very professional and I am so thankful and happy I found this store. I have only good things to say about my experience with this store. I highly recommend! If I can give 0 stars I would! This place is full of SCAM ARTISTS! We moved from NYC to Hawaii in November 2018, and we purchased furniture from them before we moved. My girlfriend wanted to make monthly payments using her credit card and we were told we can make monthly payments in the amount of $252 a month for a total of roughly $2300. It is over a year and my girlfriend realized her credit card is still being charged for $252 a month after we paid off our balance. The last payment to pay in full was in June 2019, and in July after she saw the payment being made she called and was told she would be refunded. It is now September and she had paid July, aug, and sept for a total of an extra $756 on top of our $2300 payments. After dealing with Jay Arista who is the manger, he told my girlfriend we had signed a contract. We ordered our furniture in October, made payments for October, and November and never received any contract. Apparently when the delivery guys showed up and delivered all the furniture they made me sign a paper for "delivery". I signed it, and they left. Never once was I told this is our Contract for the Furniture. Today my girlfriend got a hold of Jay and he sent my girlfriend the contract with my signature. This "contract" was for 16 payments of $252 for a total of $4032!!! Meanwhile in our original emails he quoted us an "estimated amount of $2300". Not once were we told before we ordered furniture we would end up paying $4000 for this furniture. Even though we had a "signed contract" Jay Arista told my girlfriend he can't close the account unless some payment is made so he told her pay in full which was about $1000. She said I'm not paying that, then he said pay half. My girlfriend said again, I'm not paying that. Jay then came back with ok pay $289. So my girlfriend paid that and now we are supposedly out of the contract!?!? How is that? He also told my girlfriend "your boyfriend makes good money, don't worry" WHat does that have to do with anything. I also forgot To mention they wanted my ID, proof of address, 5 paystubs just to buy furniture? I asked a few times in the emails why they needed that and never got a response. Trust me these people will Be hearing from a lawyer about this. True scam artists. Don't waste your time or money there or any other color tyme. read more

Had a really horrible experience at Colortyme. I made a purchase months ago and never received a copy of my agreement until the day of delivery(6 weeks later). I was told to pay one amount via email and then ended up paying 1000 over what it should have been. They explained to me I signed up for this on my contract, but when did I read my contract? When the 4 men were stampeding in my house with my furniture in a 600sq foot apartment insisting they need to leave to get to the next house?!?!?! And why wouldn't I just pay it in full instead of double the price over the course of two years? I'm still very heated about this. And on top of it all I had to pay $300 to close out my account because "they can't close it out with zero".. Worst part is if I didn't follow up on this sooner, it would've gone on for even longer. I purchased the Darcy 3-seater sofa in Sage (green) and went through an interesting experience, but am relatively happy so far with the customer service in the store and during the shipment. In general, Kalihi Colortyme's Jay and Charles and movers Wii and David were very professional, accommodating, patient, and helpful during my purchase and shipment. I've broken down my experience into three sections: Choosing a Furniture Store and the Sofa Experience~ I checked out several furniture stores including Kalihi Colortyme, Colortyme on Beretania, Ashley Furniture on Ward, Discount Furniture Warehouse, Red Knot, HomeWorld, and web furniture stores. I had narrowed my purchase locations down to the top three: Colortyme on Beretania, Ashley Furniture on War, and Kalihi Colortyme. It took me about about two months of shopping for the ideal furniture store and couch/sofa, but I settled on the Kalihi Colortyme because of their price range, furniture quality, professionalism, non-pushy manner, and overall good customer service. Also, they answered many of my questions over the phone and in-store, and boy did i ask a lot of questions. I also sat on more sofas and couches than anyone should want to sit on in a a two-month period. What i wanted in a couch/sofa was firmness and support in all three seats and this was mostly met with the Darcy 3-seater. The middle seat had the least support/firmness, but this was apparent in many of the couches i tried, even the super expensive ones. Lastly, i read a plethora of reviews on various couches including the Darcy. Its reviews were pretty high with some complaining of the cushions needing to be pushed in every so often. Though this occurs on occasion, it hasn't bothered me as much as it as bothered some of the reviewers purport. Purchasing Experience~ I initially purchased the Darcy 3-seater sofa with the chaise a few days before it was going to be shipped. Unfortunately, the day before it was supposed to be shipped, Jay informed me that when the sofa was unwrapped from the original packaging in the store, in preparation to be shipped to my home, there were damages already inflicted to the sofa, potentially during its transit from overseas. Although I had to come back to the store to make more decisions, i'm glad the damages were caught before being shipped to my home. So when i arrived at the store to make more decisions, Charles and Jay offered to sell me the floor model of the Darcy 3-seater sofa with chaise or let me use it as a temporary substitute until my new sofa arrived. Since the floor model also had some damages to it, I accepted the the latter accommodation and requested to change my purchase to the sofa without the chaise and they kindly refunded me the difference. Shipping Experience~ Wii and David arrived in the time frame they were allocated and called me when they arrived. They were very friendly even though i was probably their last shipment of the day around 6PM. Jay and I had taken the dimensions of the couch and i measured the elevator and stairway to my home several days before the shipment, and Jay, Charles, and I had been fairly confident that the sofa would easily fit either in the elevator or the stairway. Alas, when the sofa came, it did not fit the elevator, and it barely fit through the doorway in the stairway. Wii and David tried fitting it in the elevator on two separate occasions. On one of them, they had to bring the sofa back down from the stairway because we thought it wouldn't fit in the stairway the first time without damaging the sofa. We were pretty discouraged at this point, but Wii and David suggested we try the stairway one last time. With the team effort of David and Wii doing mostly the heavy lifting and me as the shifter of the damage prevention blanket (which protected the sofa from getting scratched on the floor), we were able to get the sofa through the stairway and through my front door (another obstacle) with no obvious damages, by some miracle. The moving blanket helped immensely. Another thing that helped immensely was removing the legs attached to the sofa using a screw driver my bf luckily left in plain site at home. In summary, i would highly recommend purchasing from their store since their top priority, from my experience, is customer satisfaction. read more
