Went to Cohens Fashion in Valley stream. This store is the worse. I went to have an eye exam. I was told I needed a new prescription. Understandable it has been a few years. Once I had the eye exam it went down hill. It was an $1100 mistake. Don't ever go here they lie and smile in your face. Thieves as well. I was told I can't use my military discount due to using insurance. That was a lie. I found out I was able to use my discount. The frames I paid $250 I found online for $74. They told me they don't price match. Then the guy broke my frames and gave me an attitude. I had to pay $150 to have my lenses put into my frames When I said he had to replace them. Then I ordered my lenses. Progressive, transitional with antiglare $725 I paid. There was no antiglare and the staff member tried to tell me I don't know glasses that's why. I'm positive I can tell if there is antiglare in something. I had to take my glasses back due the person measuring me incorrectly. I wasn't able to see since he measured me incorrectly. They said it would be a rush job. I called a week later and was told the glasses went out the day before. Meanwhile the lady who answered said they went out the day after I left them. Either way I can't see due to them not getting me back my glasses. I been wearing spare frames to help me get by. I asked for my glasses or my money back. I was told they don't give refunds and I will have to wait. Never again will I go to Cohens not even for a dead bird. They are terrible. The staff sucks and just lie. A bunch of money hungry thieves. Sad part is the store mgr was there the whole time. I never who she was until she got on the phone. Not once did she identify herself when I went to the store. I have made 3 trips so far and still have to make another one. While I was in the store the last time she stood on the side watching and playing dumb as if she didn't know her staff is railroading ppl for money. NEVER GO TO COHENS VALLEY STREAM. I've been going to Cohens for years, I bought a pair of Cartiers from here in 2022 and I get so many compliments on them. I went here to get them tightened and I bought a pair or Christian Dior glasses, because I needed an everyday pair of glasses. I definitely recommend! read more

Unprofessional, Just to replace the frame they'll charge over 400 bucks. Frame has cheap and fragile looking. I thought myself That's how they pay rent in shopping mall by ripoff customers. Eye exam technicians was rude and had no will to answer the question. Acting like he's doctor. They don't like insurance even if they accept they said 'No, we Don't accept for frame'. Let me start by saying that our experience today was wonderful! Linda and the rest of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. She took her time to listen to what we were looking for and was patient with us while we tried on several pairs of glasses. The eye doctor that we saw was also very thorough and explained all of the tests and results. He let me know what I should look out for if I see another doctor. I knew their glasses were expensive and didn't think I would purchase any from them. However, Linda shared a few different options and we were able to find a pair for my daughter that were cute and affordable. Plus they were ready in only an hour. I have multiple sclerosis and I get around on a motorized scooter/wheelchair and the assistance that was given to me by Cohen optical employees were excellent. They put the mirror on a lower table for my level to see my glasses better they also help me with picking out some beautiful frames. two thumbs up for Cohen's optical in Green acres Mall in valley stream New York. I'm warning anyone going to the Green acres Cohen beware. They are unprofessional and scammers. My husband went there and was almost ripped off he was told he had to buy the most expensive glasses like Gucci or fendi glasses worth over $400 and $600 and that his insurance didn't cover any glasses in the store. Which is a lie, we called his insurance provider and they told us that his insurance pays for glasses. My husband had an exam from the dr. However they never gave him his prescription they said he had to buy first the glasses before he could get the prescription. Which he did not buy-so he never got the prescription. I made a new appointment with another Cohen. We found out that they charged his insurance for glasses which he never purchased. When we called to get this rectified They said they had no paperwork that he was even there. But they charged his insurance. I tell you the manger was incompetent and had no sense of honesty. I ran out of contact lenses during the quarantine and had no idea how I was going to get more. There were some Cohen's stores physically open but I did not want to have to get my eyes examined and pay for another contact lens fitting. So I was feeling pretty desperate. I then noticed a note on Cohen's website for the Green Acres location that if you needed refills to please contact a certain email address and/or phone number. Late Wednesday night, I emailed with my patient information. Not 10 minutes later I received a text message from the phone number listed on the website. The person, Igor, helped look up my prescription info and placed my order right away. I was a little worried giving my credit card info over text but Igor reassured me. The order was confirmed Thursday morning and I received by lenses the following Wednesday morning. Great service! Very thankful to receive my lenses. read more

My spouse made an appointment before coming for some work glasses that was confirmed by Cohen to be covered by work insurance. When we got their they confronted us friendly and with a big smile. when we told them we are here for work glasses you saw that smile turn upside down. First they gave him the run around about how his insurance ID # don't come up and tried to talk him into paying for it that's when I stepped in and told them they need to try a litter harder to find it because I don't understand how they running this business and my husband is not paying for this when his insurance covers it. Guess what a miracle happened they found the ID and my spouse was able to pick up the glasses a few day later. I guess if your not spending your cash they don't want to help. read more

Was kind of bummed when I came here! I made an appointment but had a crazy day but thankfully was still able to make the appointment! I spoke with one girl who asked me about my history and all! She was very sweet! She asked me if I was there for just an exam or both the exam and the glasses! So I told her just the exam being that I was too tired to pick out frames too! I figured I would take the script with me and then come back the following day! When I went to the front and dealt with someone else, she told me "the second you walk out of the door with the script you will automatically loose the $125 that your insurance would have given you! You can't have an eye exam here and then go get classes somewhere else!" I stated I've never heard about that before! I have actually done that exact thing several times before, get the exam one place and go somewhere else for the glasses! She responded "there's absolutely no way you could have done that! I'm telling you there's no way the insurance would allow that to happen!" I responded, "well either I'm a liar or things have changed!" She then responded "oh yea things have changed since January! If you told us that you were just going to do the exam here, in the beginning we would have told you this earlier!" I stated "well I told her that when she asked me about my history!" The girl responded "oh well she's different, she's medical!" So if you choose to go here, make sure you literally tell every single worker every step that your planning to do (which will become really annoying and something you don't need to actually do in order to be served properly) or just go somewhere else for better and nicer service! Sales associates lie to customers telling them their insurance doesn't pay for glasses in the store. Customer service is horrible at the Green Acres Mall location. I prefer the location at Roosevelt Field Mall. Know your coverage before you go. Don't let them sucker you out of your money. read more

Went on Thursday to get the glasses and 5 days later I still don't have my glasses! After spending $600 on them I regret even going in the store. The doctor was nice. If I really couldn't see without them I would be up a creek! Get the eye exam and take the prescription somewhere else. That's what's a friend told me to do in the first place. Made my appointment in advance, came in time filled out the paper. Then I'm informed that the doctor went on brake. Which I don't understand because I received two emails informing the time of my appointment. That's very unprofessional to go on brake just because it was busy before. Now I have to wait another half an hour for the doctor. It's always best to call patients in advance informing them to possibly come a little later. Basically just thinking ahead. It's my second time at Cohen's and I particularly don't see much or too care for their service or the products they have have. The doctor is also a mess, he seems as though he has an attitude when ask him a questions about your eyes. I really hope I don't have him this time, but I probably do because as I'm typing he's the one on brake. Unacceptable last time im coming. Hello. (I would like to put No Stars but can't ) I'm writing to complain about my visit today. I had went to get new glasses and I walked out paying $300 for my glasses. I have a great insurance and I knew I spent more than I was suppose to. I was initially being told my total was $400. There was a lot of back of forth with the worker. I had my insurance information on my phone and I was showing her the benefits that I should be receiving and all she kept telling me was how my insurance does not cover this and that. All she did was hand me the most expensive eye wear from the start which I told her from the beginning I did not like anything fancy. To sum up my experience, my insurance had called that store and how that store kept fighting back when they knew they were in the wrong. I eventually found out I was suppose to pay about $100 less than what I had end up paying. Fact that they're trying to rob people of their own money is disgusting and down right wrong. I will be reporting this to the Better Business Bureau. I hope this stops and never happens again to anybody. This isn't the way of doing business and next time I will be going to Lenscrafters because I had went with my friend and he received such exceptional service and the lady was going within his budget and not trying to force him into anything he couldn't afford. This was my first time going to Cohen's. I went in for my eye exam. The doctor wasn't very friendly, neither was the staff. I was given the wrong prescription and couldn't see out of my glasses, even after trying for over a week. I went back to get it changed again, second time still cannot see. Third time I went to my old doctor to do my contact lens exam with him and he informed me the glasses were the wrong prescription and wrote down the correct one for me, along with giving me a new pair of glasses that I was able to adjust to in just one week. After going for the third time with a new written, corrected prescription, I picked up my glasses and still cannot see in them. Now I have a pair of glasses sitting on my nightstand worth over $600 that I cannot see out of. I gave up making trips back and forth just to have nothing done correctly. read more

Terrible customer service. Everyone there had an attitude and tried talking down to you. I went in for an eye exam but BEFORE the eye exam I went to look at the designer frames to see if I liked any so I can get an idea of how they would look on my face, I tried on one pair and didn't like, so I asked for a different pair, and they immediately caught an attitude saying that I needed to buy the eye exam before they can help me pick out frames. Are you kidding me? I need to BUY an exam before I can pick out a pair of 600+ dollar frames? What if you don't have any that I like? Makes no sense to me so I took my pocket full of cash and walked on over to vistasite in the same mall. Much friendlier staff and more helpful. Cohens will never get my business again. read more

But I go to COHENS FASHION OPTICAL for the quality of professionalism and the degree of knowledge of service and product information that is so comforting to hear from someone you can trust Kaci-Ann. SCAM ALERT. Do not. I repeat do not go in here and get a contact eye exam. I went in here to get a contact eye exam and they wanted to charge me 90 bucks for a 10 minute exam. I was ok with that. Once the exam was over they refused to release my contact prescription which was the same for the last 5 years and wanted to force me to buy a 3 months supply of contacts at an inflated price. They refuse to negotiate so I walked out. Funny they could of made 90 dollars in 10 minutes but that wasn't enough for them. Go to costco optical or any where else. I got the exam for half the price somewhere else. read more
