Went into Pride Optical after seeing interesting frames in their display and I'm glad I did. Patty was patient as I tried on a million different pairs. After choosing one, the turnaround to pick them up with my prescription was pretty fast. The frames ended up sitting too close to my face, so I returned to see if they could be adjusted. To my surprise, they were able to add a higher plastic nose pad to match my frames instead of those old school metal ones. I was also having problems adjusting to the lenses, but they kept on making adjustments until they were correct. They even let me see their optometrist for free to check that my prescription was accurate. I also discovered that the lenses on my old frames (from a different place) weren't entirely right, so Adam offered to replace those lenses for free so I wouldn't have trouble switching between my old and new frames. Even though it took a few visits to get everything right, I'm glad it did because I got to know Patty and Adam more and am blown away by the level of commitment, quality and customer service they have for their clients. Have been a customer of Pride for 3 years following a recommendation from my opthamologist & wouldn't go anywhere else. Recently called in with a slightly changed prescription. Adam advised the change would probable not be noticeable & recommended against buying news lenses. He did observe the original lenses were badly scratched & said he'd see if there was something he could do about this. Went there today to have them look at a frame that had a very loose left hinge...expected the worst - either an expensive repair or replacement of frame. I had tried to tighten the hinge myself before without much luck. The owner diagnosed it quickly and got it to be almost as good as new using the right type of screwdriver. Like Yelpers from older reviews here, I have loved this place in the past. The had great service and quality (in both the exams and the products). They weren't the cheapest, but I felt great about going to them for exams, contacts, etc. Unfortunately, that was the old Pride Optical. The service now is shockingly bad. This seems to be a place that couldn't make it through the pandemic with the same standards they used to have. I had to call multiple times to try to get an appointment for an exam, contacts and glasses. They said they'd call back and didn't -- for what would be more than $1,000 of business for them. When I finally called (again!) and said I was trying hard to get in, they were extremely rude and unprofessional and then ultimately said they were struggling to handle an influx of business after the pandemic. It was the exact opposite of the kind of service that drew me to them years ago. Where they were once caring and handled all clients personally, they're now rude and uninterested in clients. I'm sorry to have to go elsewhere -- but Pride Optical clearly is no longer what it once was. read more

I did not have a good experience here at pride optical. Although the doctor is extremely friendly and knowledgeable the two individuals working at the front have on multiple occasions exemplified laziness. Today I came in to see if I would be able to get a trial for a new set of contacts because I ran out of contacts. I was ultimately looking to just buy any pair of contacts with my valid perscription that i got from the doctor at pride optical. The man in the front proceeds to inquire as to why I want to change my contacts questioning why I have dry eyes... To me this is extremely unprofessional as he is not the doctor nor have a say in whether I can change my contacts or not. I left the store being told that there was not even one pair of contacts on site in my prescription. Last time I was here the woman at the front was able to provide me with 1 week trial of contacts and this time the male individual at the front didn't even attempt to see if any were in stock etc. It is very hard for me to believe that at a place such as pride optical I couldn't even buy 1 pair of contacts in my prescription off the shelf. I have been wearing contacts for over 10 years and I have never left any optical site still unable to see after having told the individuals who are supposed to assist me that I no longer have contacts. I feel that the energy of this interaction was extremely dismissive and I will not be coming back to this site nor using pride optical again. This place also does not operate with up to date technology and often loses things, like there is no record of me seeing the doctor a few months ago. read more

The female staff (i don't have her name) is not a honest person. 2 weeks ago i came to this store to show them a pair of frame that i bought online. I asked just for the price of lense (eyes exam is free with my voucher). The female staff told me it would be $198 for everything and she made my appointment with the doctor 2 weeks later. She specifically stated that i would need to pay for this price because my frame is rimless; it needs special lense. I was ok with the price. Before i left, i asked her to write down her notes of how much it costs for each function of the frames (i.e., anti glare, anti scratch, etc.) She did and she kept it with her. 2 weeks later i came back for my doctor appointment. A male staff welcomed me. When i showed the male staff (idk if he is the doctor or just staff) my frames, he said i would need to pay extra $80 for lab fee because it is rimless. I told him that it wasn't the price i was told 2 weeks ago. The female staff, who was helping another customer, jumped in my conversation and immediately told me that "you did not show me your frames last time so you need to pay extra." First, she was rude. Second, she lied (or just forgot; i can't tell). I confirmed with both of them that i DID show her my frames. I also told them that there was a note that she made last time. She pulled out that note and gave it to the male staff. He read it; never gave it to me. He insisted that i would need to pay $80 more. I left the store. I wouldn't mind paying extra ONLY IF the staff WERE HONEST. I can't stand salespeople who lie to their customers and make their customers look like fools. To be honest, if she said that "i am sorry maybe i forgot to tell you the lab fee," i wouldn't mind making the transaction right then. However, by telling lie about i did not show her my frames in my first visit, i lost my respect to this person. No. I don't recommend this store. read more

I came in to have my sunglasses fixed, and the gentleman working here saved my fiance's hide. (These pair were a favorite and my fiancé accidentally squashed them!) Even though I didn't purchase them here, he helped me to fix them, while giving me fair warning that the arm may break in the process (I couldn't wear them anyways so I had nothing to lose). It was a relatively simple fix and he didn't charge me at all. Very nice of him :) I know my fiancé has come here previously to fix his other glasses and was also happy with the outcome. read more

Without going in to the details, I had to have my glasses remade twice with Pride. It was a challenging job and mistakes were made, however Pride Optical stepped up and went the extra mile to deliver prescription sunglasses that are the best I have ever owned. I was in New York City for the Thanksgiving Holiday and broke the arm on my glasses. I needed repair asap... I went to three different optical facilities and then found Pride Optical. They have a repair facility there as well as glasses.. They welcomed me as I came in and said no problem and took my glasses and gave them to the tech whom fixed them in 3 minute. I was elated and asked how much... the gentleman there said no charge, have a great day, glad we could help.. I wanted to do something so he handed me a donation can for breast cancer which I gladly made a donation.. If I lived in NYC this would be my go to for optical. One of the lenses of my new pair of rimless glasses arrived loose and flopping around on the frame, and in general I was not satisfied with the glasses. Also, another optician expressed doubts about the glasses' quality of manufacture. The salesperson did not put me at ease as I was making my decision. I would recommend LensCrafters on 390 West Broadway instead. In general, I would recommend getting your glasses at the same place you get your eye exam -- since you pay them for an eye exam every year, they have no incentive to give you a shoddy pair of glasses. read more

I stopped into this cute little shop with a broken pair of glasses on my end and, while they did not have the materials to fix my glasses (they were a unique brand only sold in certain shops), they recommended another eyeglass house I could go to and were even nice enough to give me directions there. When I eventually found that missing piece of material that they could fix my glasses with, they helped me in under five minutes free of charge! People as sweet as these really make my day, so definitely come here if you are in need of glasses or have an emergency like myself! read more

Having not had my eyes checked for over 3 years and not aware of any new technology or protocol that has emerged in that time, I entered Pride trepidatiously. All prior optometrist and opthamologist experiences have been long, disappointing, uncomfortable, and expensive. However, I should have not had a single worry as the staff here clearly take great PRIDE in their work! I have never in my 27 years of life experienced such fantastic customer service. Adam, from the moment I stepped in, was friendly without being pushy or creepy, and has called my insurance company now multiple times to first understand how my coverage plan worked (I just got a new policy and did not have the slightest clue), then finagle my options, then maximize my choices and extend the coverage as much as he was able so I would not have to go out of pocket. All without my asking or intimating. Amazing! The Dr was very quick to look over my eyes which made me doubtful, but then this is an optometrist and not an opthamologist. i went in today to randomly look for a new pair of fashion glasses and left with a view into my own eyes. Thanks to ADAM's guidance, knowledge and attention, he quickly saw what i didn't--that i ought to have an examination and then without pause asked for my insurance and his team mate quickly input the information and offered discounts that i did not even know i was entitled to. He set me up with an immediate appointment with the knowledgeable and thorough in-house optometrist, who went above and beyond to look into the back of my eyes for any erosion or issues while taking great care to present me with varying fonts on screens which he used to gauge the clarity of my vision. it was the optometrist's recommendation that i wear sunglasses so i returned later in the day with a pair which Adam offered to size and re-fit for me at no cost... can i just say?
