I absolutely love supporting small businesses. Their attention to detail and expert advice is something you cannot get from a big box retailer. Adam and Patricia are just absolutely lovely, professional and a pleasure. They have a wide variety of frames. Some very unique and niche offerings. I had my eye exam from the lovely optician. He was also delightful then I picked frames with Patricia and Adam. I'm so pleased with my purchases. Bravo Pride Optical. You are second to none. read more

Pride Optical - Eyewear & Opticians Near Me - New York, New York

Went into Pride Optical after seeing interesting frames in their display and I'm glad I did. Patty was patient as I tried on a million different pairs. After choosing one, the turnaround to pick them up with my prescription was pretty fast. The frames ended up sitting too close to my face, so I returned to see if they could be adjusted. To my surprise, they were able to add a higher plastic nose pad to match my frames instead of those old school metal ones. I was also having problems adjusting to the lenses, but they kept on making adjustments until they were correct. They even let me see their optometrist for free to check that my prescription was accurate. I also discovered that the lenses on my old frames (from a different place) weren't entirely right, so Adam offered to replace those lenses for free so I wouldn't have trouble switching between my old and new frames. Even though it took a few visits to get everything right, I'm glad it did because I got to know Patty and Adam more and am blown away by the level of commitment, quality and customer service they have for their clients. They're just lovely people and I'm happy to have found my go-to glasses place. Thanks Adam & Patty!! read more

The doctors here are exceptionally attentive and patient, thoroughly addressing all questions (I see Dr. San). The clinic is clean and inviting. While I was initially disappointed by their move, I'm thrilled to have found their new location just a block away from the previous location. They offer excellent prices for both contact lens and eyeglass exams, and a wide selection of stylish frames. read more

Once again they hit it out of the park! I chose glasses that I ended up not liking due to weight, and Adam re-fit me in a fabulous pair that I love. No issues, no problems, just made sure I walked out with something I love. Seriously, they are miracle workers! read more

Pride Optical has a wide selection of stylish frames, but the real stars are Patty and Adam, who are friendly, professional and very experienced. Patty spent so much time helping me to find the perfect frames, sharing honest opinions with no pressure. The entire experience was a pleasure. The amazing part though, happened this week - a full two years, after purchasing glasses, when the separate clip-on sun lenses broke apart into two pieces. I brought the glasses back to the shop, hoping to purchase a replacement clip-on. Instead, Adam was able to replace a small piece and make a full repair while I waited..... at no charge. This kind of service is truly rare and I'm so glad to be a loyal customer. I highly recommend Pride Optical! read more

Have been a customer of Pride for 3 years following a recommendation from my opthamologist & wouldn't go anywhere else. Recently called in with a slightly changed prescription. Adam advised the change would probable not be noticeable & recommended against buying news lenses. He did observe the original lenses were badly scratched & said he'd see if there was something he could do about this. Called back a couple of days later to say he'd persuaded the lab to make a fresh set of lenses. No charge. read more

This is my second time here. Came last year for an eye exam and this year for some blue light glasses as my eyes were getting fatigued being on the computer so much. Glasses were ready the next day when I was expecting 4/5 days! Close to my job/ lots of train lines. It's been easy for me to get an appointment when needed and to be seen at my scheduled time. Adam is very helpful. read more

I live nearby and desperately needed to fix my bent frames. I didn't get them at Pride Optical and have never been a customer there but they fixed them free of charge in 10 minutes (with no appointment). Really appreciate the friendly and efficient service read more

Once again Pride Optical has confirmed why I entrust my eye care to no one else. Last week, I arrived at work only to lose one of my contact lenses. I called Pride and within hours I had a replacement lens at no charge. That is quality service and why they will continue to be my provider. Highly recommend them to anyone seeking quality affordable care from individuals who are truly a joy to work with! read more

PRIDE OPTICAL After shopping at one of the largest Vision Centers in New York City since 2006, on the suggestion of a friend I decided to try Pride Optical on William Street. Almost immediately I realized, that not only do you get more for your money, the personalized-fast service, was second to none. Adam and Patty both are consummate professionals, making helpful suggestions while taking the time, and patience I required. The selection of Eye Wear at Pride Optical is also fabulous. I highly recommend Pride Optical! read more

I love this place! Adam is friendly, helpful, and good at finding discounts and coupons. They have a wide selection of frames that range from funky to classic. Last time I went, I couldn't help but get two frames. read more

As we start the Fall Season I'm writing this long overdue review. While doing a phenomenal job tending to my vision needs, Patty & Adam gracefully deal with my vanity when it comes to selecting frames. Seriously, I give them homework and they have 5 frames ready for my selection, kowing what id like before I do. read more

Went there today to have them look at a frame that had a very loose left hinge...expected the worst - either an expensive repair or replacement of frame. I had tried to tighten the hinge myself before without much luck. The owner diagnosed it quickly and got it to be almost as good as new using the right type of screwdriver. When asked if I owed anything he just waved me off :) Rare to see good and free service these days. Highly recommended read more

The best. 30 years of optical stores / labs all full of BS w hidden costs. Met Adam. From eye test to (now) 2 years of purchases I finally met an honest optical store owner. Can't say enough about this shop. Customer for life read more

Pride Optical - My newest pair. Had a scratch. Replaced immediately and no questions asked. - Eyewear & Opticians Near Me - New York, New York

Like Yelpers from older reviews here, I have loved this place in the past. The had great service and quality (in both the exams and the products). They weren't the cheapest, but I felt great about going to them for exams, contacts, etc. Unfortunately, that was the old Pride Optical. The service now is shockingly bad. This seems to be a place that couldn't make it through the pandemic with the same standards they used to have. I had to call multiple times to try to get an appointment for an exam, contacts and glasses. They said they'd call back and didn't -- for what would be more than $1,000 of business for them. When I finally called (again!) and said I was trying hard to get in, they were extremely rude and unprofessional and then ultimately said they were struggling to handle an influx of business after the pandemic. It was the exact opposite of the kind of service that drew me to them years ago. Where they were once caring and handled all clients personally, they're now rude and uninterested in clients. I'm sorry to have to go elsewhere -- but Pride Optical clearly is no longer what it once was. read more

I did not have a good experience here at pride optical. Although the doctor is extremely friendly and knowledgeable the two individuals working at the front have on multiple occasions exemplified laziness. Today I came in to see if I would be able to get a trial for a new set of contacts because I ran out of contacts. I was ultimately looking to just buy any pair of contacts with my valid perscription that i got from the doctor at pride optical. The man in the front proceeds to inquire as to why I want to change my contacts questioning why I have dry eyes... To me this is extremely unprofessional as he is not the doctor nor have a say in whether I can change my contacts or not. I left the store being told that there was not even one pair of contacts on site in my prescription. Last time I was here the woman at the front was able to provide me with 1 week trial of contacts and this time the male individual at the front didn't even attempt to see if any were in stock etc. It is very hard for me to believe that at a place such as pride optical I couldn't even buy 1 pair of contacts in my prescription off the shelf. I have been wearing contacts for over 10 years and I have never left any optical site still unable to see after having told the individuals who are supposed to assist me that I no longer have contacts. I feel that the energy of this interaction was extremely dismissive and I will not be coming back to this site nor using pride optical again. This place also does not operate with up to date technology and often loses things, like there is no record of me seeing the doctor a few months ago. read more

So helpful and kind! Fixed my daughter's glasses on a moment's notice. Really appreciated the quick attention and help.

A gem of a business. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Would definitely recommend Pride Optical to anyone looking for value and service!

I was recommended by my colleagues to come here and they also accept my insurance so I decided to give it a go. It's a nice facility, staff are very nice, and know what their talking about. The doctor recommended a different brand of contact lens instead of the one I constantly wear and I fell in love the first try, it feels so comfortable. This little optical place feels right, I highly recommended. read more

The female staff (i don't have her name) is not a honest person. 2 weeks ago i came to this store to show them a pair of frame that i bought online. I asked just for the price of lense (eyes exam is free with my voucher). The female staff told me it would be $198 for everything and she made my appointment with the doctor 2 weeks later. She specifically stated that i would need to pay for this price because my frame is rimless; it needs special lense. I was ok with the price. Before i left, i asked her to write down her notes of how much it costs for each function of the frames (i.e., anti glare, anti scratch, etc.) She did and she kept it with her. 2 weeks later i came back for my doctor appointment. A male staff welcomed me. When i showed the male staff (idk if he is the doctor or just staff) my frames, he said i would need to pay extra $80 for lab fee because it is rimless. I told him that it wasn't the price i was told 2 weeks ago. The female staff, who was helping another customer, jumped in my conversation and immediately told me that "you did not show me your frames last time so you need to pay extra." First, she was rude. Second, she lied (or just forgot; i can't tell). I confirmed with both of them that i DID show her my frames. I also told them that there was a note that she made last time. She pulled out that note and gave it to the male staff. He read it; never gave it to me. He insisted that i would need to pay $80 more. I left the store. I wouldn't mind paying extra ONLY IF the staff WERE HONEST. I can't stand salespeople who lie to their customers and make their customers look like fools. To be honest, if she said that "i am sorry maybe i forgot to tell you the lab fee," i wouldn't mind making the transaction right then. However, by telling lie about i did not show her my frames in my first visit, i lost my respect to this person. No. I don't recommend this store. read more

As a person who has been wearing glasses since 3 years old, I recommend this place. I've come here to get new frames, lenses and contacts. Keep in mind I have a high prescription that is sometimes hard to fit in frames. Adam does a great job walking you through options and what is feasible. He worked with a quality lens crafter and produced some really great glasses that look awesome. -Adam L read more

I came in to have my sunglasses fixed, and the gentleman working here saved my fiance's hide. (These pair were a favorite and my fiancé accidentally squashed them!) Even though I didn't purchase them here, he helped me to fix them, while giving me fair warning that the arm may break in the process (I couldn't wear them anyways so I had nothing to lose). It was a relatively simple fix and he didn't charge me at all. Very nice of him :) I know my fiancé has come here previously to fix his other glasses and was also happy with the outcome. read more

One of the lenses of my new pair of rimless glasses arrived loose and flopping around on the frame, and in general I was not satisfied with the glasses. Also, another optician expressed doubts about the glasses' quality of manufacture. The salesperson did not put me at ease as I was making my decision. I would recommend LensCrafters on 390 West Broadway instead. In general, I would recommend getting your glasses at the same place you get your eye exam -- since you pay them for an eye exam every year, they have no incentive to give you a shoddy pair of glasses. read more

Im not a helper person but I went to my first real ophthalmologist in a proper office and not at the eyewear store. They recommended Pride Optical-noting that they were expert at getting progressives right. The past few times i thought it was just old age for the reason i still couldn't see clearly when receiving new glasses. I put these on from Pride and could see clearly immediately. It was night and day. Highly recommend. read more

Having not had my eyes checked for over 3 years and not aware of any new technology or protocol that has emerged in that time, I entered Pride trepidatiously. All prior optometrist and opthamologist experiences have been long, disappointing, uncomfortable, and expensive. However, I should have not had a single worry as the staff here clearly take great PRIDE in their work! I have never in my 27 years of life experienced such fantastic customer service. Adam, from the moment I stepped in, was friendly without being pushy or creepy, and has called my insurance company now multiple times to first understand how my coverage plan worked (I just got a new policy and did not have the slightest clue), then finagle my options, then maximize my choices and extend the coverage as much as he was able so I would not have to go out of pocket. All without my asking or intimating. Amazing! The Dr was very quick to look over my eyes which made me doubtful, but then this is an optometrist and not an opthamologist. I was fitted, prescribed, and given trial lenses in under 25 minutes. Glorious! read more

Judging a business when things go well is easy. But how a business handles the customer when things don't go well, I believe, is a true measure of its worth. Without going in to the details, I had to have my glasses remade twice with Pride. It was a challenging job and mistakes were made, however Pride Optical stepped up and went the extra mile to deliver prescription sunglasses that are the best I have ever owned. It took time, patience, and effort but Adam never wavered and was committed to getting it right. He showed real pride in his work and a customer-first attitude. What more can you ask for from a service like this? I recommend Pride without reservation. read more

I was in New York City for the Thanksgiving Holiday and broke the arm on my glasses. I needed repair asap... I went to three different optical facilities and then found Pride Optical. They have a repair facility there as well as glasses.. They welcomed me as I came in and said no problem and took my glasses and gave them to the tech whom fixed them in 3 minute. I was elated and asked how much... the gentleman there said no charge, have a great day, glad we could help.. I wanted to do something so he handed me a donation can for breast cancer which I gladly made a donation.. If I lived in NYC this would be my go to for optical. Thank you so much Pride Optical for helping me in my dire situation, you are the best!!!!!!!!!! read more

I give Pride Optical 5 stars. I must be their toughest client because I am fastidious and hated the idea I needed glasses. They helped me over the impossible task of wearing progressives, listened to my misinformation and were very patient. Over the past two years I have gone back to buy two additional pairs of glasses. My boys have gotten their glasses from Pride Optical for years. My wife is a long time client. There are lots of styles and price points. Now that I can see, an honest thumbs up. raphael santore read more

I stopped into this cute little shop with a broken pair of glasses on my end and, while they did not have the materials to fix my glasses (they were a unique brand only sold in certain shops), they recommended another eyeglass house I could go to and were even nice enough to give me directions there. When I eventually found that missing piece of material that they could fix my glasses with, they helped me in under five minutes free of charge! i went in today to randomly look for a new pair of fashion glasses and left with a view into my own eyes. Thanks to ADAM's guidance, knowledge and attention, he quickly saw what i didn't--that i ought to have an examination and then without pause asked for my insurance and his team mate quickly input the information and offered discounts that i did not even know i was entitled to. He set me up with an immediate appointment with the knowledgeable and thorough in-house optometrist, who went above and beyond to look into the back of my eyes for any erosion or issues while taking great care to present me with varying fonts on screens which he used to gauge the clarity of my vision. it was the optometrist's recommendation that i wear sunglasses so i returned later in the day with a pair which Adam offered to size and re-fit for me at no cost... can i just say?
