I chose iLook Eyewear based on their stellar Yelp reviews and given that they accept VSP, which I recently switched to from a comprehensive we-cover-everything insurance plan. Their eye exam is affordable but can be hit-or-miss, so check the experience level of the doctor on duty. Their frame selection is great, though I've only purchased frames from them once. I always find the service to be friendly and personalized. Irwin has been my go-to person. Prescription lenses typically take just over a week to be ready, which is quite standard. One cautionary note: I wouldn't bring horn frames here. Mine cracked along both rims a couple of weeks after I got them back, quite likely due to the lenses not being etched down sufficiently, although I cannot prove it. They were kind to have new lenses put in a plastic frame for no additional charge. iLook does warn of the risk of breakage of horn frames, but for plastic or metal frames, you can rely on their great service and professionalism. read more

VSP gave me iLook as one of the options as I was looking for a new pair of glasses and a vision check. And so in always trying to support Asian-owned businesses, iLook performed pretty well. The front staff was run by a few young guys in uniform (though could do better by tucking in their shirts to up the notch of professionalism). Very helpful and almost funny as they had to fight off the grannies looking for multiple free calendars (it's a thing) they're giving out for the New Year. There are MANY options for glasses and to be frank - it's better to ask for help/ recommendations if you don't know the style that fits your face best. To be honest, they do charge 40% more than online retailers but you're coming in for the service. Complimentary snacks and drinks. Optometrist was fairly competent. The examination room needed an additional rolling chair for the patient, and disposable paper on diagnostic equipment (as its not clear how often they are cleaned). Came for my contact lenses! First time user My first appointment I remember having to wait awhile but it was so cold inside I asked if I could run out and come back haha. I forgot her name but the first doctor I saw was really fantastic with the exam. I had a ton of concerns cause I know less than 12 year olds about contacts and she was so reassuring. I then had some training done with Vanessa. Vanessa is so sweet! I will say family and friends are impressed by how quickly I got used to putting contacts in and out of my eyes after I did training with her. She's a great teacher! The other plus with iLook - I got soft contacts and compared the prices between iLook and 1800 contacts and iLook proved to be cheaper actually! Even my mom wants to see them now. read more

Guys, I lost my glasses and was freaking out! I'm almost confident my favorite pair of glasses are probably somewhere buried in the un-shoveled New York City snow. I have been without my glasses for almost two weeks hoping they would turn up and iLook helped to save my eyes! I appreciate the fact that they leave a message on their answering service when they had to cancel all appointments due to inclement weather. Just my luck to have an eye appointment during the snowstorm! They rescheduled with me and allowed me to come in a few minutes after even though my train was late. I met with Andy who was super cool and helped me choose a pair of frames rather quickly. They have such a huge selection of modern, stylish frames that you can feel like a kid in the candy store when your parents tell you that you can only choose one piece of candy. Bummer, but Andy made it quick and easy. Dr. Lisa was great, she got me and my eyes on the right path to success which turns out is the exact perfect prescription I had before and we didn't even know it! If it ain't broke don't fix it, right? Dr. Lisa gave me some new knowledge on my eyes and I learned some things that I didn't know before. The staff is great and they welcome everyone. Responsibly priced and clear explanation of the insurance coverage, came here to replace the lens, it took approximate one week and half to receive the notification via text message saying the glasses were ready to be picked up, tried them on and someone would adjust the frames to fit better. If you did not purchase the frames from the store, please be aware that there is a risk of adjusting the legs of the frames, if they are broken in the course of the adjustment, the store won't be responsible for the replacement. read more

I've been accompanying my mom to a few different eyeware stores and for me, walking into one is like walking into all. However when we walked into iLook Eyewear, immediately there was a good vibe and I liked it. Steve (I believe is the owner) greeted us and asked if he can help. He wasn't pushy and spoke to us in Chinese. Though when he realized that we preferred English, he switched and spoke to us in English instead. Overall, he can speak both languages very fluently. We told him what kind of glasses my mom was looking for and immediately he could sense her taste and started recommending. Not only did he find her the perfect kind of glasses she was looking for but he also managed to find her a second pair. I was so impressed because I didn't expect to be walking out with glasses that same day, especially when my mom is pretty fussy when it comes to picking. Best of all, they said if my mom is not satisfied, she has two weeks to return it but at this rate I don't think that will happen. They will also adjust your frame should it not fit you right and I like that they offer complimentary nespresso and snacks. I didn't take any but I like that it was there. Very classy. read more

I went browsing for a nee pair of glasses in a chinatown but couldn't not find a place with a large selection until I found iLook. They had a large selection of frames to choose from all organized by brand with walls and drawers full of frames to try on. They provided me a tray to hold any frames I wanted to decide on. They were friendly and very helpful in guiding me through my purchase and answered any questions I had. They do take insurance. I ordered my frames and it was ready in about 2 weeks. I had my eye exam at a different location, but they had no issues preparing my glasses with that prescription. They also do eye exams but mentioned the doctor who comes in on Wed and Fri is very slow so if you want a fast exam, schedule for a different day. Maybe that doctor is super thorough, so can also be a good thing. They quoted me contact lenses 30 day supply for one eye, astigmatism to be 120 which is a good price based off price gaging from other shops near by. I was quoted 145 at the optical store on the same block. Overall, this eyeglass store is top-notch and has a way larger selection so am surprised it doesn't seem to get as much traffic as some of these other stores nearby read more

I've been coming here since 2014. I am IN LOVE with their vast eyewear selection. As someone who doesn't feel she'll ever get lasik eye surgery, I love that I can always count on iLook to find something I truly like. The staff are also very friendly and they actually remember you when you come back a year or so later! (Which is super welcoming to me) The only thing I do miss, and why I didn't give it 5 stars, is the leasing option they had. It made my "expensive" taste not hurt my pocket so much (haha). But like a lot of things, because of the pandemic, they stopped this option. They were giving returning customers the courtesy but eventually stopped for everyone. I've been coming here for glasses, contacts and prescriptions for a few years. The facility is very clean and you can tell the comfort of customers is a big priority. The staff are amazing. They're kind, patient, warm from manager to front desk to doctors. I can't even count how many times my insurance has given medical front desks trouble and the way the staff at iLook talk to each other supportively and caringly to solve a problem makes me happy to be able to spend my money here. Doctors visits stress me out. Spending money on my health stresses me out. But here I feel very taken care of. As a Chinese American immigrant, I know that Chinatown businesses get a reputation of "fast business" but the iLook team always go extra and beyond to help me even on the visits that I don't plan to spend money. Learned about this spot via my insurance company, I was hesitant because the places my insurance company recommends aren't always the best quality. I'm so happy I gave iLook a try! I made an appointment over the phone, it was really seamless. I called because I was running late due to the lovely MTA, and they were extremely accommodating. Dr. Chen was very patient and super thorough in explaining everything. I usually dread the eye doc because I'm afraid they're going to tell me I'm closer to being blind, that wasn't the case but I have a feeling that if it was, the news would've been delivered in a way that still left me with hope of working around it. Dr. Chen answered all of my questions in a way that really educated and informed me and he went over the xrays and pictures with me in a way that I could comprehend. After my exam, I was helped by Jasmine who is wonderful. Very personable, genuine, and she took the time to make me aware of each and every one of my option with and without insurance and she took note of my personal taste when showing my glasses. She's a great salesperson and very easy to talk to. Beyond the exceptional service of the team there, another plus is that they offer snacks and WiFi lol It's truly an experience that no other place has ever matched. I can't wait to get my glasses. I came in to look for frames that I might like on the recommendation of my friend and families and I think this is the BEST customer service I've ever received. I felt really bad about not finding a frame I liked. I came in with a shopping bag and this guy staff offered to put it on the side for me while I browsed the store. They also let me know I was free to try on anything but to please put any frames I tried on in a personal tray so that they could sanitize it. I was initially assisted by a lady staff member and she was really sweet recommending glasses based off my preference and eye degrees -- but I'm super picky so most of them I didn't end up liking. And I was trying go for that k-drama style which is mainly metal frames but they don't really work for my face shape. But later on I was re-assisted by the guy staff (forgot to ask for his name but omg SUCH a nice guy) who helped me put my shopping bag aside and he was able to locate my friends frames -- it was from a Korean brand called CARIN and I ended up really liking it -- and he personally went to their sister store to help me fetch it so I could check it out! Sadly it wouldn't work for one of my eyes since it has a heavy prescription but I might come back to get it as a casual pair with lowered degrees for reading/computer usage. He also helped explain my vision benefits and all the options -- like literally so crystal clear i actually understood my vision benefits fully. At other places they've never walked me through my plan allowances like this. As mentioned, I ended up not getting new glasses but I might go back in a month to check it out for their new frames or at least visit to see if they have the frames I'm interested in before going to another store. I've never felt impatience from them even though I'm particular about frames (since I'll be wearing it so much). I felt they really put their thought and consideration to help me find glasses within my preferences. And they didn't express any unhappiness even after helping me out for so long and I ended up not purchasing anything. read more

I am a believer in this place. For YEARS I went to another shop but this time my wife persuaded me to give this place a try. So we went in and looked about. I originally went in looking for a pair of 'safety' glasses and was missive about what I would find. Fortunately I found a pair of Oakley frames that will be paired up with some transition lenses. Now onto the impressive part, the eye exam was one of the MOST THOROUGH eye exams I had in years. I dare say it was pretty darn close to being examined by an Opthamologist. The staff at iLook are extremely pleasant and helpful. I enjoy having to go to them for my glasses and contact lens needs. Even during the pandemic, they tried to help me get my contact lenses to me at home. I didn't need them right away so I decided to wait until it was safe to go outside and the store was physically open. There was a bit of a hiccup when I was ready to get them but they helped me remedy it fairly quickly. They ended up helping me ship my year supply of dailies to my home, which was quick and safely packed. Despite taking up a lot of their time and not even buying anything, the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout. Definitely 5 Star Service ^^ There is nothing compare to iLook (Chinatown location). Originally I was planning to just get my contacts online until one day me and my BFF was walking to Xi'An Famous Foods and we stopped by because she recommend iLook from her previous experience of purchasing contacts from them. The place is clean and organize. Once we enter the store we were greeted and they gave us space to try the glasses without them following us. They came to help us immediately once they notice we needed help. They have most of the Luxottica's brands so it is a large variety of options. The prices are slightly cheaper than Eye Solution and MK Vision. Most of these stores have a moral of just convincing the customers to purchase but iLook definitely wants their customer to feel satisfy and happy with their purchase. All the staffs are very helpful and friendly like mention by my friend and fellow Yelpers! I also got my new pair of glasses with all their staffs' help. The lenses for my glasses have 6 month warranty incase the prescription is incorrect. Look no further (see what I did there?) This is the place where you should be getting all your optometry needs. I have a weird face-shape (big cheeks and low nose bridge) so it took me months to find glasses that fit. I loved that iLook's staff was always incredibly friendly and NEVER pushy. I never felt anxious about walking in and trying on a few frames, and then leaving because I hadn't found the perfect pair yet. Other glasses shops put the frames behind the counter so you have to ask for every frame individually. iLook gives you free rein to try on anything you want. Plus they leave you alone while doing so, but stay attentive if you need anything. They were honest and well-priced. They work with you to find something in your price range. They also stock everything from the fancy Dita frames to Asian brands that are perfect for the low-bridge profile. Every time I walked in, they offered cold beverages. Everything is sparkling clean. The staff speaks English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. They accept VSP insurance. When I finally found the right frames, the ordering and customizing was seamless. I picked up my glasses a week later and they had already been adjusted ahead of time. I haven't had an eye examination there but I was absolutely impressed by the service of everything else. I've been purchasing my eyeglasses at iLook for the past few years. Ling, the sales associate, who helped me pick a new pair of glasses in Febrary 2023 is absolutely awesome! Ling is friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and professional. I don't like wearing eyeglasses and therefore am very picky selecting a frame. Ling patiently spent with me over an hour during each of the two visits. She helped me select the best fit frame as well as provided detailed pricing on the frames and lenses I were interested in. There was no pressuring me to buy any specific pair of glasses. Instead, Ling gave me options by providing me with several quality eyeglasses of various look and pricing. We can't all be Ali Wong, but at least we can get cool glasses. I wasn't really looking for a new pair, but somehow I left with one! My sister got her frames here last year and wanted to ask about contacts. I started trying on some frames just to browse (what else is there to do?!) and slowly pondered if I should get a new pair to replace the Warby Parkers that keep slipping down my very Asian nose. Steve was quick to help put the pairs I tried on back on the display notches. When I asked how much it would cost with my insurance, he swiftly whisked me to the counter and boom! Now I have a nice new pair of frames that I can pick up in five days. Twenty percent off the frames was a nice surprise too. The store is very clean and spacious. I love that they stock up on snacks, Nespresso, and other bites so bored people like my parents had something to munch on while waiting lol. The staff are quick and never pressure you, or try to sell something until you actually ask for pricing. Steve sold me anti-glare since I'm in meetings everyday at work; I felt like it was fair suggestion and I took it. Their designer frames are fairly priced. I love their selection and was so glad they had nose pads. They had Burberry (which I ultimately got), Miu Miu, Prada, etc and those were in the $150-$400 range. Pretty good compared to a Korean optometrist in Ktown, whose not so stylish frames started at $400! Bonus: while we were waiting, they aligned my brother's glasses. Pretty sure my mom will go this week to get hers aligned/cleaned too lol. Since 2018, iLook on Mott St. has become my go-to place for prescription glasses. They have a nice collections of designer brands ranging from Gucci, Prada, etc to professional lines such as Lindberg, Mykita and the like. It is pleasant to shop glasses there as the team is attentive, courteous and ready to help. Every year, my wife and I have 6 pairs of glasses from iLook (as my insurance allows 3 pairs for each insured). So far, I have been pleased with each pair as the quality and accuracy are guaranteed by the craftsmanship and nose pads and temple arms on the frame are properly adjusted for maximum comfort. At the store, I mostly work with Ervin who has a deep expertise in the product and a great fashion taste. He can always recommend the glasses that align with my interest, and timely order pieces that are not in inventory. I called and made an appointment for an eye examination. This place did not disappoint, it exceeded my expectations. I was greeted immediately upon arrival and every single person I came in contact with was polite and friendly. The eye doctor was friendly and knowledgeable, the examination comfortable. When it was time to pick out my frames, a young sales associate helped me find the right frame. Patiently, she took me through all kinds of cat eye frames. This place just had a new renovation equipped with a coffee/drinks station. The decor and dim lighting makes the place very comfortable and inviting. James had assisted me and helped maximize my insurance. He offered to order a new frame since the store one looked crooked on my face. Fast fwd, two weeks later, I came to pick up my glasses....altho James was busy, he still managed to assist me and adjust my new pair of glasses. This is literally the best place to get designer or non-designer eyeglasses. I came here for my Ray Bans last year and they worked really great. This year with my new colony insurance I could get three pairs of glasses so I got one for looking at screens, one for walking around, and a pair of shades. I actually didn't even know I was eligible for three pairs and the staff is so experienced and kind that they informed me. My regular glasses are long champ and the shades are ray bans. They've been working super great! I like that they don't try to up sell you to buy something way more expensive. I only had to pay $25 per pair material fees on the regular glasses and $50 per pair on the shades. Great deal! High recommend anyone to come here! read more

Crystal and the entire iLook team was amazing! I went to get my first pair of glasses today and walked straight in on a busy Saturday afternoon. There was already a line but Crystal was kind enough to expedite the process for me by taking me to their second location only a few blocks away for an eye exam. The eye exam itself was only $30 - a much better price than other places like Warby Parker. I ended up needing glasses and Crystal and her team helped me put on 10+ pairs to find just the right one. I was having issues with my insurances not providing me with accurate information but the staff here sorted it out for and were amazing from start to finish.
