Last year I was in Chelsea Market and came across the Moscot brand. I started to look at the various styles and was given a book of all their eyewear styles. I thought I was slick and bought a pair of Persol at a discount bargain site instead. Before I continue, I'd like to educate you on eyewear. Most popular brands are owned by one company. I call them the "black hand" of eyewear, the Luxottica group. This is an Italian manufacture that owns almost everything... If you buy a pair of Ray-Bans? Luxottica group. Giorgio Armani? Luxottica group. Michael Kors? Luxottica group. Are you feeling me? They own most of the popular brands. I have a pair of Ray Ban Clubmasters, so does everyone. And that is my pet peeve. Everyone owns Ray Bans. I want something different. So when I read about the Moscot brand and how they've been on the Lower East Side for over 90 years, I want to see what the hub bub is all about. I'm an educated consumer, I read their book and chose The Kavell with a blue lens on the website. Just something to point out, the Moscot brand has been in business for 90+ years. They have made their brand youthful and current so don't think it's stodgy frames from 90 years ago. I got a great parking spot right in front. I walk in and speak with Paolo. I noticed he has on a slick pair of Moscot frames. I zoom in on the Kavell glasses. Man are they molto sexy. Tortoise frames with a blue tinted lens. You ain't finding this style at Pearle Vision! (A Luxottica group retail outlet) I am very happy with my purchase. I have Eyemed insurance which Moscot no longer participates in. Lemme get the frames with the blue tint for now. If I want the prescription lens then I'll come back. I ordered a new pair of prescription glasses where I live (Pearle Vision, a Luxottica group retail outlet) Moscot does offer a prescription lens but if you have insurance, that is a lot of cheddar for a prescription pair of glasses with a cool frame. If these glasses suck then I'll write another review but as experienced eyewear user, the sun glasses have a quality feel. I'm happy with my purchase as well as the sales support from Paolo. This review stands for this location as well as the other one on Court St. in Brooklyn. SAVE YOUR FUCKING MONEY. This place claims to be a "luxury eyewear" shop. HA. If I'm spending $500+ on a pair of eyeglasses, and they claim to be a "luxury brand", I want the process to be seamless. Otherwise, what exactly am I paying for? The frames I purchased were $350. Then they ask you which lenses you want to put in. I went with the $200 lenses because quite honestly, I mainly wear contacts. Of course they will try to upsell you on the $300+ lenses and tell you that you need them and your lenses will get scratched up without the upgrade. Like ok....so why even sell the $200 "cheap" lenses if they're a piece of shit anyway? Regardless, I went with the cheaper option. The associate tells me they will ship to me in a week. Perfect. I really needed them quickly because I broke my old pair. About a week goes by and I still have no tracking info. I call the store and get connected to customer service who tells me they are finishing up the glasses on Monday and they will update me with shipping then (Friday would have been the one week mark). Fine. I call back Tuesday after I still don't hear anything. They send me a tracking number. It just says a label has been created, but no updates. I check back the next day and the tracking number had been disabled. I had to call back again. She said "they're shipping tomorrow." I check back the next day and there is an update on the tracking info. It says they will be delivered by end of day. To Ridgewood, NY. I live in Williamsburg. So, they had entered the wrong address. Another week goes by of the same shit. They finally arrive. Great. I open the box and they're covered in dust. Not sure how this could even happen considering they create the lenses new with my prescription, but anyways. They don't fit so I have to take them to the store to be fitted. Great. By the end of the week, they were already slipping down my face again and impossible to wear. I bring them to the store again to be fitted. I asked the employee this time to please make them as tight as possible because I really do not want to come back (the store closes at 6 and I can't easily make it there from my office before they close. Also, neither store is convenient for me to get to from my apartment.....but I didn't realize when purchasing the glasses that I would have to frequent the store so often). The employees could really care less about your issues with their product and don't ask any questions to try and appease your frustrations. Anyways, I got them fitted again. They fit me in the store (I actually had to ask him to run it through the machine twice because I wanted to make sure they would stay on my face). After leaving and walking a block down the street, they're already slipping to the end of my nose again. I really don't understand the issue. I have never had this problem with any other eyeglass company I have purchased from. So now I have spent $500 and a lot of my time to end up with a pair of glasses that I can't wear because they don't stay put and a no return policy. Perfect! Be careful of Moscot eyeware. I spent a fortune on sunglasses which broke just one year into wearing them. When I took them in they refused to cover them under their very limited warranty and wanted to charge another $200 to repair them. I was told the glasses are "delicate" and not to be worn everyday. A very poor excuse for very poor quality glasses. They have a big, trendy name but the quality just isn't there. Take your money somewhere else. read more

The staff there are not the friendliest. I got my glasses and after 1 week, the metal temple broke. I take care of my glasses very well, and honestly don't wear that often because I wear contact lenses. So for a pair of glasses that cost over $300 I was really surprised and disappointed. But wait, that's not all. So I go back to the store where I got my frames from and showed them what happened. A lady named Marilyn asked me what I've done with it. I said I was cleaning the lenses (as I always do before wearing it). And she doesn't believe me! She goes "maybe you banged it against something." I was appalled. I was so upset and very disappointed for the service I was getting. They paid for my repair as it should be for a 1 wk old frame. The warranty only lasts for a year and I'm almost certain that it might break again. Honestly it would have made the difference if that lady was much less offensive. This is why people go to warby parker not only because of the convenience and affordability but really customer service. Shame on you, Moscot. I expected better. read more

This is a very sad review for me to write as I love the design and history of Moscot's frames, but how am I supposed to give them more than 1/5 when two times, the coating on their lenses is peeling off in 6 months of use? I paid for a brand new pair of Lemtosh ($280) on July 2018, with a choice of the Zeiss Premier lenses (+$260 additional). In May 2019, the coating on my lenses was coming off, which never happened on any of my lenses, and I do own 12 pairs, from the cheapest model to luxury ones. I contacted Moscot which, very slowly, accepted to replace them, thanks to the 1-year warranty I had. They still charge you between $15 and $35 for a completely unjustified shipping cost. Fast-forward to now, January 2020, and the same big issue is starting all over again: the coating is peeling off my lenses. AND the lenses are completely scratched. Are they really using Zeiss lenses? I am using Zeiss lenses for video and photo work and I've never experimented such a bad product. read more

Very disappointed with the quality of these glasses that I now have for ~18 months (lightly used; one of several reading glasses I own). They may be designed in NYC but if you look carefully on the left side of the frame (inside) it states "Made in China". The 1 star review is supported by two complaints: 1. Lenses are disintegrating: there is a thin film that is coming off and impact the clear view. For $500+ glasses, that is unacceptable. 2. Poor fit overall: I have a blackish, thicker frame and while they measured my head, the frames did not fit behind my ears and could not be adjusted. So unless the sample fits you perfectly, go somewhere else where they can adjust the glasses for you. Hipster prices for dumpster quality. read more

I am so incredibly sad to post this, I used to be a huge supporter of MOSCOT frames - but I must warn potential customers of my experience! I recently paid for a pair of frames /lenses from them in June, I spent $450.00, that included Advanced - Digital Relief frames that includes a film over the lenses to help with computer glair, consequently they also seem to scratch very easily. I called last week and spoke with someone from in Customer service, and told them that although I loved these glasses, they scratched very easily and looked like it was because of the "coating" they have on them. I have not had them for very long and I take really good care of these glasses - they are either on my face or in the glass case provided. the customer service person I spoke to said that because I didn't purchase a warranty on them(which would have been another $130.00) - they would only give me a 30% discount if I wanted to have the lenses replaced. I was urged to write an email to the Customer Service Ambassador and again they refused to help me or take any responsibility for what appears to be a really cheap peeling and easy to scratch film on top of these lenses. I assumed that because I spent a lot of money on them that Moscot would replace the scratched lenses for free or at LEAST a 50% discount - much like Warby Parker which replace your lenses for free within a year. This is why people go to Warby Parker not only because of the convenience and affordability but really good customer service. I REALLY like to support "Mom and Pop" businesses like this one and and not the large chains - but unfortunately, I cannot afford to be a continued customer at MOSCOT, I hope someone from their management reads these reviews : SHAME ON YOU! and I hope this helps possibly future customers to be aware of the risk they take. I came across this place when I visited another business on Orchard street and really liked the frame selection, the staff and it's history. I flew back to NYC from Chicago with my new script in hand a few months later with a frame already picked out online. I forgot the guys name that helped me which is a shame as he was quite good. I showed him the frames I wanted and told him I'm open to a professionals opinion. Long story short, I choose frames he picked out and love them. Then it was time for the lenses and I worked with him and the store manager and choose the high-end Zeiss lenses and am quite glad I did. I've had trouble in the past with other lenses being hard to clean with large peripheral vision blind spots. These I'm barely cleaning, just a quick wipe with a lens cloth so far. This is now my go-to for glasses as the quality and service are second to none. A few other things to note. 25% off if you have VSP insurance which is really nice considering I was paying out-of-pocket. I mentioned it before but it's worth repeating, The staff is awesome! read more

My favorite place to get glasses. I have been coming here since I was 12, my dad has been coming here since he was a kid and my grandfather got his glasses here. This place has been a part of my family for a very long time. I enjoy the service that I get here, as it is same-day. The only thing that may deter me from coming here would be the prices. Their styles are so trendy that they are in high demand and can get too pricey for my pocket. It all pays off in the end with the service and quality of the frames. read more

Plastics are their thing. If you want plain frames, go to LensCrafters. Eye exams are quick, easy and accurate (Dr. Katelyn Rogerson is great!). Killer frame selection. Great service. This might be a bit embarrassing to say but I am close to being BLIND! I hate wearing glasses for the following reasons: 1) I can't put on my makeup right because all of my makeup brushes are long handle and I can't get close enough to the mirror without running my brush handles against the mirror. 2) I seem to always get a HUGE headache after wearing them for a few hours. But just recently I thought to myself, perhaps #2 isn't because I am wearing glasses... perhaps it's because I haven't filled my prescription nor have I bought a new frame since the late 90's. EEEKS! What the hell is wrong with me? I guess since I always will have the #1 problem and I never felt the urgency to get updated eye wear. But I decided to finally stop the #2 problem and get new frames! The people here are very helpful, but I am not going to ask them what's best suited for me. Since I am me and I know me better than anyone else. Because I went to two different persons and both recommended the total opposites of one another and it's better that I make my own judgments! I got my frames back and they are spiffy and not to mention super duper glossy and the lenses are great! I totally didn't need to get the 1.67 high index frame. Great service. Amazing exclusive Moscot designs (and others). They don't try to give you the hard sell, which is what Cohen's Optical across the street did to me. I got a pair of glasses, prescription, with anti-glare, etc. I just love them. VSP covered most of it. I live in the neighborhood and went into the Orchard street location. I also had an eye test at the 14th street location that went very well. Some may consider this place pricey, but their frames are just beautiful. It's been a while since I've been to this store. My experience was so bad I was not sure what I should do. I've decided to share my experience as a way of moving on and because it must be told. I was in the exam room with Dr. Harvey Moscot. During the exam he moved close to me. He placed his fingers on my eyelids. As he started spreading them apart he put his hand on my vagina and said "open wide". I jumped out of the chair. I did not see a camera in the room and grabbed my stuff and left crying. Came to Moscots to pick up frames before going to my insured optometrist. Place has a lot of history and this can be seen just by looking all around the walls. You'll also be paying less than you would for designer brands all owned by a luxotica (Oliver people's, persons, Ralph Lauren, Prada. Chanel- the list goes and on). I was immediately assisted by a wonderful sales associate. We spoke of what I needed and discussed any concerns I had. There is no rush here. I was torn between not only different models and colors, but the sizes amongst one particular model and color. Take your time, and ask for everyone's opinion around the shop. They'll be honest and attentive. After making my choice I was rung up for a total of $240 (most specs run about this much) that come with the typical 1 year limited warranty, hard case and a fabric tote bag. Wonderful shopping experience and great staff. Will stop by again when it calls for it. read more

This review is for my online purchase of the MOSCOT Lemtosh frames and the disappointment I experienced upon receiving them. I had been looking for frames with this look and details for awhile and was pretty excited to order these. However when I opened the box, I was really shocked by the condition of the frames I received. They had significant white scuffing and scratches all along the arms, along with rough edges in the corners and along edges where they didn't take the time to properly smooth and finish the frame. I don't think they are used but rather a quality control issue. Although some of the parts are made in Italy, the frames are stamped with a big MADE IN CHINA. It's clear that MOSCOT is no longer a mom and pop type shop and has lost control of quality by outsourcing manufacturing. For frames that cost almost $300, the quality is much lower than my old Oliver Peoples that are handcrafted in Italy from start to finish. I wanted to love these frames and even tried to make excuses and justifications in my mind, but in the end it's really disappointing to overpay for frames that feel poorly finished and cheap. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE SO FAR!!!!!! I read all of the great reviews about Moscot and their amazing customer service, so decided I would drop by the Orchard Street store when I was in New York. The prices are very high relative to competitors, but I thought, why not, its a good brand and the service will be great. Well, fast forward, my glasses had to be shipped to me in San Francisco and when I opened them, they came out of the box with bent frames. So I thought, I contact customer service and find out how to send them back to get the situation rectified. These are $405.00 glasses mind you. A customer service person by the name of Rita simply tells me to go my local eye glass shop and have them fixed. I am calling their customer service line in the morning hoping this is some sort of mistake. They literally sent me bent glasses and told me to go have them fixed on my own. UNREAL! read more

This is the real deal. Generations of Moscots have serviced the MOSCOT Shops. The quality is good and thoughtful. Harvey Moscot is an O.D. -- a Doctor of Optometry. This is a New York institution...like bagels. Visit this location for museum quality of the photos and stuff. Sonia Sotomayor might be sitting in the eye doctor waiting room at a shop, or Anderson Cooper, or any number of well-known New Yorkers. What is cool about MOSCOT is that it is truly a Big Apple experience and has no airs. You're a big deal? Okay, well, show up, and take a seat in the waiting room, like everybody else. I'm a native New Yorker. Trying to impress me to buy my prescription glasses from a store that celebrities buy theirs just doesn't cut it; besides I don't have the cash they do. It's enough that their prices have gotten ridiculously high, but when you're at their shop at 11AM on a Tuesday morning for an eye exam for your son, the shop is empty and are asked if I have an appointment, it's time to consider at least getting your prescription filled elsewhere. MOSCOT charges $100 for an eye exam; Cohen's across the street charges $40 which they'll deduct if you purchase your frames from them. I've been purchasing my own glasses at MOSCOT for the past 20-25 years. And as a New Yorker you develop a baseless sense of loyalty to mom and pop shops. I've purchased Porsches, Revo, Armani, MOSCOT brands from them. I never left their shop without purchasing two pairs of glasses each time. Initially their prices were competitive. In fact, they were better than that. But for the past few years their prices have just skyrocketed. One would think their own name brand would be less than designer frames. That's not necessarily the case. Why - Johnny Depp wears them? Why should they be? And when someone tells you about how great their optometrists are, consider what they do. If you think you need more than a prescription for glasses, make an appointment with an ophthalmologist. Jewish moms know the difference between an optometrist and an ophthalmologist, so should you. So what else, oh, you'll never get your new frames the same day. And if someone tells you differently, well then they've treated one of their more loyal customers very badly. read more

We'd noticed Moscot's Orchard Street location and they accept our insurance plan. I called on 3/2 and made eye exam appointments for both of us for 3/23 (we also needed new glasses, and in fact I needed 2 pairs). We've had a new eye insurance plan for just a few months and we received notification on 3/1 that a new benefits "year" begins on 4/1, which will become significant as I explain more. I spoke to someone named A---a at Moscot and she said she'd put it through our insurance. I certainly assumed she knew what she was doing, even though I thought it was strange to put it through so far in advance. I began feeling really sick on 3/19 - so on 3/21, I decided I'd better try postponing our appointments by a few days. Meanwhile; the phone rang and it was someone from Moscot named A-----e. She said she'd just tried putting through our insurance and it said we couldn't use the insurance until 4/1. I told her that A---a had ALREADY put it through on 3/2 and therefore I assumed A-----e shouldn't have attempted it, plus I told her I was feeling really sick and needed to change our appointments. She didn't know anything about A---a having put through our insurance (?!), but she said we couldn't proceed with our appointments unless the situation was rectified. I was quite feverish (among other things), but I had no choice but to call our insurance company. Unbeknownst to me, the eye insurance was under a separate company - so first I wasted lots of time on hold with our health insurance company and then I wasted lots of time on hold with the eye insurance company. The person at the latter said we most definitely DID have coverage prior to 4/1 and it was *Moscot's* fault for putting through the insurance a second time - because in doing so, the computer assumed it was for *different* (post-3/31) appointments. I then called Moscot and explained everything to someone named B----i. I told her to be *sure* to note that A---a had *already* put through our insurance and it was all taken care of (NO more attempts, please!). She *assured* me she'd take care of it, plus I then changed our appointments to 3/25. A few hours before our appointments, I received a call from someone at Moscot named H----e. She said she was the Lead Patient Coordinator and she'd tried putting through our insurance (?!!), but it was denying coverage until 4/1. At that point I totally lost my patience with Moscot and I don't make ANY apologies *whatsoever*. I told H----e the whole story, and I said we were keeping our appointments for that afternoon and to STOP attempting to put it through our insurance (!!). My husband stayed in the car while I went first. The place was frenetic; lots of people at the counter trying on or buying glasses and lots of people in various other spots. Finally I found H----e and she went to her desk, whereupon she told me I had to register. I said there was no point in registering if I didn't first talk to Dr. Moscot about something (Moscot's employees' repetitive incompetence & repetitive phone calls were absolutely INEXCUSABLE and I'd also had to spend a ridiculous amount of time dealing with the insurance company as a result of Moscot's incompetence - so I'd decided the only way I'd proceed was if they offered to make it up to me in some way. Only one pair of my glasses would be [just partially] covered by our insurance and that in itself would be a very expensive pair, so I justifiably felt that the *least* they could do was to give me a discount on the second [much cheaper] pair. However, that's not exactly something you discuss on the phone with an appointment person). H----e said she didn't have Dr. M's cell phone # (and I have a bridge to sell you), so I requested to speak to the eye doctor with whom I had an appointment. H----e was unfriendly and had a VERY inflated ego. She didn't want to let me speak to the eye doctor (?!) and I refused to register until I could do so. I sat and waited, and meanwhile H----e began (nastily) *TALKING ABOUT ME* to a couple who sat down in front of her desk (the height of unprofessionalism)!! I have a frighteningly-acute sense of hearing - so if she denies this, she's an outright *liar*. I finally talked to the eye doctor (who was pleasant) and explained the whole insane situation, and I asked her to get Dr. Moscot on the phone. She said he was at a conference, but she'd text him and convey my insistence that he call me that night ("no matter how late"). She said he'd prefer e-mail, so I provided both (but I again said I wanted a phone call). She then made an insurance print-out and it said we weren't covered until 4/1 (WRONG). I left at that point. It's been *7 1/2 days* and Dr. Moscot NEVER CONTACTED ME!! His silence speaks VOLUMES. Also; when you own a business, your employees are YOUR responsibility. I called the eye insurance company on 3/26 and had them cancel Moscot. We then found THE most WONDERFUL eye doctor (see my next review). read more

For the rest of us plebians, they do have a nice selection of trendy looking eyewear, complete with a roster of famous people who wear them too. However, that comes with a hefty pricetag. I am so satisified with my glasses and the service at Moscot that I would go as far as saying its the best shopping experience I have had in New York City. The people working there and the products are both amazing. MOSCOT's selection is mindblowing compared to other stores. They carry many brands, but its really the MOSCOT Originals that stand out - at least to me. A line of glasses that are replicas of vintage frames they have produced over the last 100 years. If you don't find anything here, you won't find it anywhere. I came in 15 minutes before closing time starting to look at frames. The guy working, Frankie, had a quick look at me, gave me the pair he thought would fit me the best and BOOOM - 3 months of looking completely wasted. This guy knew his stuff! The first pair I tried - was a perfect fit. I tried a few more just to be safe, but I ended up buying those glasses, and they stayed 10 extra minutes just so I hadn't have to come back. I had VSP insurance through my job, which MOSCOT accepts. Frames with the best lenses (anti reflective, scratch resistant, light weight ect etc) all in all I paid $160. Every Third Thursdays, Moscot showcases artists to play in store. For CMJ 2013, Nick Waterhouse belted out 10 songs in front of a small audience at the newly relocated Delancey location (now SE corner Delancey and Orchard). It is always a treat witnessing live performance in such a private setting, I felt special. Other artists I've had the privilege seeing are Jaymay, Brett Dennen, Madi Diaz, Avan Lava, French Horn Rebellion, among many others. What an awesome lineup! A few months ago, I made the mistake of purchasing a cheap pair of plastic frames and outfitting them with very expensive prescription lenses. After 2 weeks of wear, the frames break and I'm left with nothing but the $180 lenses. I went into Moscot today with the expectation of purchasing an entirely new pair of glasses; one with a sturdy frame and prescription lenses, but thought I'd ask about the possibility of reusing my existing lenses in a new frame. Thankfully, I brought my broken glasses with me because Marilyn quickly popped out the lenses and determined that it was indeed possible to reuse them. An hour later, I have a beautiful new pair of NEBBs in my possession for half the amount of money I was expecting to spend. The selection at Moscot is incredible and the service is top notch. What's not to love? They specialize in vintage style and retro style frames. There's really something for everyone and they're not pushy at all. I tried on so many pairs I lost count before I found a pair I liked and they were gracious throughout the whole process. Vintage/retro/funky? Check Hard to find foreign designers from Japan and France? Check Contacts? Check Sunglasses? Check There isn't anything eye care/frame related that Moscot can't do. They even added nose pads to a gorgeous pair of Lafont Reedition frames I got from them. It took about two weeks but it was totally worth the wait because I get tons of compliments on them! Frank is SUCH a sweetie. He will give you advice, recommend frames that will look good on you, tell you the truth if you love them but in reality they look horrible on you and adjust them so that they are soo comfortable you won't even know they're there. I fell in LOVE with Moscot on my trip to New York last week! I heard about it a few years ago from my aunt, but I was always too scared to order their glasses online without trying them on. Finally, I got to go to the store last week and try them on in person. If you're visiting, I HIGHLY recommend going to the store and trying them on yourself. The website and pictures don't do the glasses justice. I stayed in SoHotel on Broome and Bowery, and Moscot on Orchard St. was only about a 10 minute walk away. It's very close to a lot of other great places to eat and shop, so it's in a great location. My aunt has the red Nebb glasses, and they are SUPER cute on her. The color is very pigmented, and I love how the glasses compliment her face so well and makes her face really pop. I tried on the Nebb in red, white, cerulean, and purple (a light, clearish purple), and loved them all! If you're looking for something unique, fun, and comfortable, I definitely recommend the Nebbs. I also tried on the Koopa in black fade, and instantly FELL IN LOVE! I also liked another pair of clear glasses and the Koopa in brown fade, but the black fade fit the best with my face. The quality is really great. With its rich history of a man selling eyeglasses on a cart on Orchard street in the early 1900s, you really feel that you are getting high quality eyewear, while getting something unique and fun. The cool hipster style glasses will really make you stand out in a crowd, especially if you're not from New York (since NY has the only 2 flagship stores). The customer service is great as well! The guy helping me out was not overbearing, and very helpful. When it comes to service at retail shops, it's difficult for employers to find a balance between overselling and nonchalance. It was great and refreshing to find someone who stepped back and let me take my sweet time in choosing the right glasses, but stepped in and offered advice when I needed it. I was also happy that they let me use my aunt's 15% loyalty card discount, after I explained my situation to them (my aunt was out of town at the moment, and I didn't want to go through the trouble of waiting until she was back in town for her to come back and go in person to use the card). I thought it was very nice of them. The prices are the only thing that kept me from giving them 5 stars, since I think $225 (the price of most of the eyeglasses) is a bit pricey. I can find similar glasses at Warby Parker and other online sites for less than half, or even a third, of the price. I understand that there is a rich history behind it, and that the glasses are thoughtfully designed, but I wish they were a bit more affordable for students like me. I ended up buying my black fade Koopas for $190 (no tax!), but that was a big splurge for me. I just couldn't resist after I fell in love with them! Overall, the quality is amazing, the designs are unique, and these glasses are DEFINITELY something you should check out if you're a fan of fun eyeglasses! read more

This is the second review I am writing for Moscot though the first for this location and it's going to be lengthy - so bear with me! I just got vision insurance for the first time in a very long time and figured it was time to get some new glasses. I have gotten my last 4 pairs from Moscot and won't go anywhere else but I usually go to the 14th street location. Well, they were all booked up for exams so I went on down to the LES where they had some free time. The doctor was great, as always. And, armed with my brand spanking new prescription, I headed out to the front desk to pick out some new frames. The fitter that worked with me was not only exceedingly patient (I'm super indecisive) but was very honest about what frames he though worked with my face and why. So cut to a little under an hour later and I'm out the door to head home and eagerly await my new fancy pants glasses ... ultra violet colored titanium if you must know! Now, I have VSP, and this insurance won't let Moscot's work on the glasses in house. Instead they have to be sent out to a VSP lab which is lame if you ask me but whatever. Anywho, 2 weeks later my glasses come in and I go to pick them. They look great, feel great ... but, what's this? The prescription feels off and I have the fish eye lens going on. But I figure it's an adjustment to the new prescription so I go on my merry way. However, 3 days later and I still haven't adjusted to the glasses and I'm cursing VSP's lab because I'm instantly suspicious of any glasses that weren't worked on my Moscot's own technicians so I head back to see what's up. This is where Moscot's really shines. They took both my old pair of glasses and my new pair and methodically checked the curvature, the prescription, the way the lens sat in the frame and the frame itself. The optician, Rachel, looked at everything to figure out why I was experiencing discomfort and finally discovered a slight warping in my old lenses that my eyes had adjusted to but was incorrect for my sight. So, yes, I just have to grin and bear it for a few more days for my eyes to get used to the normal curvature of the lens again but Rachel gave me her card and told me to follow up in a week just to make sure I'm doing ok. Sweet. What else can I say? The people at Moscot are the best in the business. They are unfailingly kind, attentive and really know how to fit glasses. I'm moving to Washington DC in a few months and will still make the trip back up to NYC just to go to Moscots when I need glasses. read more

I bought a pair of glasses from Moscot on Orchard St. 5 years ago when I first moved to NYC. Frank made such a great impression on me all those years ago that when I came back last weekend for new lenses, I immediately recognized him and remembered his name. He is a very warm and personable individual and made me feel very welcomed. My glasses are cool, but Frank is a big reason that I have good feelings of shopping at Moscot.
