I had a terrible experience here. I went in for a contact lens fitting, but the process was rushed. The optician asked me to put on my own lenses, which I brought because I thought it would be convenient for them to start with information about my previous prescription. After reading a few letters and making a single adjustment for each eye, asking 'better or worse,' and boom, the fitting was done, nothing changed, copy the same prescription, just like that! They charged me $265 for this rushed, impersonal service. Guys, if you can renew your prescription online by reading letters just like this process for $30 with licensed doctors, do you still want to consider this place? Later on, they admitted that the fitting process was so perfunctory because I have astigmatism, and most likely, they don't have contact lenses with astigmatism in stock for the fitting. If you don't have the capacity to do this business, you should be honest and let your customers know so they can look elsewhere. You can't compromise the service to your customer just for yourself to have one more business. Now you had that one more business and lost a customer forever. The shop owner also got annoyed when I chose not to order contact lenses through them. He said, 'Come on, it's just a 4% credit card fee--$16. I can waive it for you.' What he didn't realize was that by ordering from Walgreens myself, I saved $240 and avoided the pushy attitude. And by the way, they do charge a 4% credit card fee on everything. The worst part of the experience was being asked to fill out several forms requiring highly sensitive personal information, including my SSN, DOB, and all health details, just for a contact lens fitting. My medical doctors' offices have never asked for this detailed personal information. I couldn't understand why this was necessary. After the poor service, I decided I wouldn't return and requested my forms back. They refused, claiming they needed them for insurance purposes, even though my insurance doesn't cover the service and I paid everything out of pocket already. This is really weird and eerie! read more

I made an appointment for an eye exam with the intention of getting new glasses as well as a new contact lens prescription. They had purchased a few frames from Yuri over the holidays and received an awesome deal-- so I figured I'd check them out. The store is super cozy and organized, it even smelled good! Don't ask... I have a thing for scents in boutiques-- so this was a good sign! This shop is small, with a wide selection of name brand frames. I was actually greeted by Yuri, the salesman that helped my friend ( he may or may not be the owner idk he seems young -- if he is, good for him! ) I love supporting small business! When I called regarding an appointment, Arsa was very responsive regarding my needs, and followed up regarding whether my vision insurance would be accepted. Julie administered the vision test quickly, showed genuine interest in my health, and told me to come back for a dilation because my pupils are too small. The gentlemen who helped me pick out my glasses were consummate professionals who also know how to kick back and make conversation, and I genuinely enjoyed my experience. I visited this location on two separate occasions. The first time was to scope the place out and see what variety they had for their classes. I even asked them about the insurance providers the accepted to make sure I would even do business there. So I talk to one of the people there and they assure me that my insurance is accepted there and showed me a varied piece they carried in their store. But throughout that whole encounter I made sure I asked if the glasses he was pulling out to show me, if any of them would be covered by my insurance and he told me my insurance was a good insurance so it should. So I scheduled an appointment with them to come back at a later date and do an eye exam. So I return, given them my information and documentation. I do the eye exam - the tech was very thorough, attentive and answered all of my annoying questions. Now here's where it gets fun. So we review some of the glasses that I mentioned I liked from my first visit and then back at my insurance and he tell me that my insurance would only give me $13 off of these $400 and $500 glasses. Wow okay, so please enlighten me on what frames my insurance will actually cover in full. So he takes me to some draw in their display that looks like it hasn't been open in years, blows the dust off and tells me I would have to select from the few off brand pairs that was there. I had the impression that it was the draw full of rejects or frames they just couldn't sell - the options were scarce in frame shapes and colors, such a turn off. I was ready to leave right there but the way my insurance is set up wherever I do my eye exam is where I have to also get my frames. So I buckle down and select a frame and we head back to their computer to finalize the process. Then the guy starts telling about all these different additional coats and features for the frames that he says I absolutely must have which after he claims how much of a big deal he was giving me would cost me about $250 out of pocket - when everything should be covered. So I took out my benefits paper and literally went through it line by line to show him what I'm entitled to while he keeps telling me the computer is saying different. Then I finally get annoyed with the upselling and make it known I only want what is covered period, nothing more, nothing less. It was clear he was not happy because that "eagerness to help me" was gone and I felt we were at the same point in simply just trying to get through this transaction. I had to keep telling this guy the purpose and amount of use the glasses will actually get hoping he would get the picture that I didn't want anything extra and that it made no sense to have any elaborate upgrades. So after the back and forth the final order ends up with me paying $55 out of pocket. I took my receipt and ran. Only for a week or two later to hear how their having issues processing my insurance and haunting me on my phone instead of contacting the insurance company like most people would. So I contacted my insurance company and then they contacted the location and it was almost like magic they resolved the issue they were having, now only if they just went straight to the source of payment the first time around. This now led to my order being editing again with more annoying upselling and me paying more for what I'm actually getting. Based on my order they should be refunding me $10 - $15 but at this point I'm just aggravated with the whole situation so I don't care. Overall aside from the eye exam this hasn't been a pleasant experience and disheveled operation they have going there. I would only recommend this location if you were paying in cash because obviously any alternative will simply cause chaos. read more

I had called over the phone recently regarding my eye exam prescription that I had done at Jena Optics because they informed me they took over all the patient charts and information from Jena Optics. One optometrist Arya kept trying to sell me glasses over the phone when I had made it clear I just want my prescription. Other employee informed me that they can not give me my own patient information as they said "there is no signature from the optometrist and that they don't know who the optometrist was that did my exam" even though under HIPAA regulations, any medical records are my own to have whether it is signed or not. It should not be within their rights to hold on to my medical records without my consent either. They refused to give me any information but instead kept insisting that if I purchase glasses from them, they would give me an exam for free. Luckily, I was able to locate my prescription and see that the optometrist did in fact put his signature on it and his name is in fact in the prescription paper. These guys flat out lie to get any one to pay for a new exam or buy glasses from them. I would avoid if you had previous records from Jena Optics or any incoming new patients. They will lie and try to sell you whatever they can. read more

The optometrist examined me and checked my prescription. I have progressive lenses and I also got transition lenses for outside. I received my new glasses and am very happy with the look.
