Great place to get glasses or contacts. Staff very helpful and cater to your needs and requests. Turn around time can be a few days but quick depending on how complex your order is. Price is competitive but affordable compared to other places. read more

Amazing customer service! Super knowledgeable! They're fair priced! The staff are super accommodating and ask really detailed questions that allow you to get the best fit for your glasses, that I've never been asked or considered! All the staff I've encountered were super friendly! I totally recommend this place! read more

Great service - they were a lifesaver for my last minute lens replacement. The team was very friendly, helpful and got it all done in about an hour! read more

The staff are very nice and helpful. The service is also excellent! No long waits. Professional and organized.

I've enjoyed patronizing this optician for several years now. Service is prompt, friendly, and professional. Pricing is reasonable. Note that although the store is open on weekends, it is closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The only rub I can think of is that if you need a lens cleaning cloth, you'll be dinged three dollars. read more

The two pair of glasses I bought at Manhattan Grand in 2016 remain in regular use in 2025. The lenses in the purple frames were just screened by my optometrist in Cali as a baseline for a new prescription. Dr. Chin's Rx remains appropriate to my needs today, because she was so careful and sensitive to my requests. By comparison, glasses from a major retailer in 2019 have never suited me and one pair actually made me confused. So glad to see the business is still thriving! I will probably return at some point. read more

My family members attained their subscription eye glasses for many here at Manhattan Grand Optical. Customer service is attentive serving the Chinese community of Manhattan Chinatown and beyond in the New York City region. This business has been in operation for many years and my family members' optical needs resolution are satisfied. Note: For pickup subscription eye glasses, no appointments are required. read more

Manhattan Grand Optical - Business card - Optometrists Near Me - New York, New York

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would! I have accompanied my boyfriend periodically over the past few years, and watched how they have handled things in great detail and with a very large degree of professionalism. I have never heard a word of complaint from my boyfriend, and he has very specific requirements. Recently he went somewhere else (because of a change of insurance), and he has not been happy at all - going back and forward with various issues. I have said to him repeatedly that he should always stay with Manhattan Grand Optical, and finally he listened. Yesterday we went in there and they fixed the issues 1-2-3. He could not be happier! The staff are all very lovely and attentive, too, and CeFaan even laughs at my jokes :). I am due to get new glasses myself in the next few months. I know where I am going. Run, don't walk to this wonderful store! read more

I went back today to Manhattan Grand Optical because I'd recently gotten new glasses elsewhere (solely because Manhattan Grand Optical didn't take my insurance), but I just wasn't happy with the fit even after two adjustments at the other optometrist's office. The man who helped me was SO kind and SO professional, and he had no hesitation about helping me with my glasses even though I hadn't bought them there. I'm seriously considering forgoing at least some of my insurance benefits in the future to bring all my eye care and eyewear business here, because they really know what they are doing and want to make their customers happy. read more

The best place to go for eye exams, contacts and glasses. I've been coming here for so long I've lost count. Dr Chin is amazing and has the utmost patience during eye exams. No one gets my prescriptions like she does! Paul and Albert are also great - super friendly and helpful with picking new glasses. It is always a great experience here and I will always come back even though I live in Long Island now. read more

I remember the original Manhattan Optical was a huge store at the corner of Canal St and Center St from almost 50 years ago. My brother and 3 of 4 sisters wore glasses (but not me at the time) and a family friend worked there to help us with all our optical needs. Fast forward to 2022 and the store now located at the corner of Grand St and Mott St has added Grand to its name. One of the business' principle partners, Sal, that I remember from the old location is semi-retired, but still shows up at the store once in a while to help out. These days, the sibling team of Paul and Lillian treat us like family when we're there. Dr Lillian is the optometrist doing exams and prescriptions, while Paul pretty much runs the business from the front of the house. We chat about all the happenings in our families' lives and our kids, all while getting fitted for new glasses and contact lenses. You can check out all the latest trendy styles of frames and new high tech lenses and sunglasses in the display cases. If you have eyeglasses/contacts coverage on your medical insurance, have Paul check how much your allowance is for frames and contacts. I ended up saving $175 for a new pair of glasses and with Flex Spending, I had no additional out of pocket expenses. I'm making an appointment online for an exam for the new year right now! read more

I consider myself LUCKY to have Manhattan Grand Optical in my life. Dr. Chin is gentle and patient with my high-maintenance eye needs and has been dead-on accurate with my different prescriptions for distance, monovision, and medium range. Paul and Albert are so kind, helpful, and friendly, and Tzefung is an EXPERT at quickly finding frames that are perfect for my style and face shape. He's so good at that-- like really, really good. I used to see choosing frames as stressful and overwhelming because I'm bad at it. Not with Tzefung-- he's a stylist! All in all, nothing but excellent experiences at MGO for me, at very reasonable prices as well. read more

I called to ask about getting new lenses in an old set of frames with very scratched lenses. They gave me a price that was WAY better than anyone around. WAY BETTER! I brought them over and paid and picked them up a couple hours later. They replaced the scratches up plastic lenses in VERY EXPENSIVE sunglasses with beautiful GLASS lenses AND shaped the frames like new. It's like I have brand new glasses that fit better than when they were new!!! Also, they are very kind people that work there. I will always call them for all my needs. read more

Manhattan Grand Optical - Amazing - Optometrists Near Me - New York, New York

Another 5 star review for the wonderful staff at Manhattan Grand Optical. So kind, such careful and great work and FAST.

We had the best experience here!!! I live in L.A., and my teenage son was visiting NYC with his school when he lost his only pair of glasses. He's pretty nearsighted, and with his one spare at home, you can imagine I was panicked. It was Saturday night when we got the news and there was nothing we could do until the morning. Finding an optical shop that was open on a Sunday, that had his prescription in stock, and could make him a new set of glasses same-day, seemed like a long shot, but I started calling around 6am my time. One of my first calls was to Manhattan Grand Optical, based on their great reviews and the fact that some customers reported they got their glasses on the same day. I spoke to Tzefung who didn't have what we needed in stock, so I starting calling some other places. It was only about 10 minutes later I got a call back from Tzefung who did some extra digging and found exactly what my son needed! He decided to find my number and call me back, which was amazing. Within a few hours my son was able to get there (with a chaperone since he couldn't see well enough to travel safely by himself). Tzefung and staff were fantastic, so kind and helpful. They had a huge selection of great frames which actually was fun for my son since he picked a cool new pair. They used my son's recent prescription and offered us a variety of options for the lenses. The glasses were ready within an hour! Disaster averted!! And my son was able to complete his trip successfully, with a cool new pair of glasses and a learning experience he won't soon forget. (Pack a spare!) We're very grateful for Tzefun and staff. They were incredible every step of the way and we would highly recommend them! read more

I reside on Staten Island and have been a loyal customer for over 30 years (wow, where have the years gone). MGO has always provided quality lenses, frames and service. In addition, their staff is always courteous, helpful and patient. I trust them emphatically... read more

I've been going to Manhattan Grand Optical since 2022 and have complete trust in them. I am a high needs customer (high astigmatism prescription and rimless frames with a custom lens shape). Dr. Chin has always nailed my prescription perfectly, the shop is able to trace and cut my custom lens shape and Tzefung is always super helpful. I also appreciate that you can test your prescription with the ad-hoc lenses by walking around the shop and reading signs out the window, which feels more helpful than reading the same chart over and over again in typical optometrists' offices. If you have high standards for quality in your prescription, lenses and frames, Manhattan Grand Optical is worth the trip! read more

Today was my best experience ever ordering eyeglasses. The staff, especially Albert who assisted me, were so friendly and helpful, and he really knows their inventory. Albert made the entire process so easy (I was not feeling well and not in the mood). I highly recommend Manhattan Grand Optical for anyone looking for eyewear. Huge selection, great service and fair prices. read more

Incredibly friendly and fast, quality service. They repaired my bent frames (that i bought elsewhere) in less than 5 minutes and would not accept payment or even a tip. They just smiled and said come back again. They have a tidy shop with nice selection of frames, and really top-notch customer service. I look forward to returning soon to buy my next eyeglasses. read more

I am so happy to have found Manhattan Grand Optical. Paul and Tzefung are professional and caring and have taken care of me to perfection!

A great experience with purchasing my first pairs of glasses. I tried on a few pairs of glasses on my first visit, but didn't go off through with purchasing since my insurance wasn't active. I came back post active insurance and was able to purchase two pairs. My optician was beyond helpful and assisted me throughout the whole process. My ophthalmologist commended the work of the MGO team since they came out to exactly to what she prescribed. I will definitely come back soon when I'm looking for a pair in the near future. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Chin for years. Kind, caring and the team are amazing. They will take good care of you here.

I have a pair of the Rayban Outdoorsman sunglasses. They're about 6/7 years old and the arms of the sunglasses are too long and made of a weird material, which causes them to slide down my face the moment I become active and makes them difficult to adjust at home. Paul assisted me with making adjustments to the glasses -- he was really kind and straightforward about what to expect. It was a short and simple interaction but I left with confidence in the work he performed and really happy with my experience. read more

I've been a customer for years. They have a great assortment of frames but what stands out is the excellent customer service provided by their staff. I love working with Tzefung who is very experienced and patient. I just bought four pairs of glasses! I misplaced my work glasses and they saved my eyes by having two new pairs ready in 4 days! I love my new titanium specs. They are feather light and hardly required any adjustment: the nose piece is perfect for my face. Now that I'm on a hybrid work schedule it's good to have pairs for the office and home. I have confidence knowing I purchased quality optical brands and that they stand behind their products. I had a pair break once and when I went back just within a year, they told me it was covered by insurance and got me a free replacement. I went to Lenscrafters during the pandemic and really had buyers remorse when my glasses broke and they didn't stand behind their product. Never again. Back to Manhattan Grand Optical. I'm happy to support a local small business. read more

I was looking for a new optometrist when my doctor retired. Very happy I came to Manhattan Grand Optical. From my first visit inquiring about progressive glasses until I picked up my glasses yesterday, the entire experience was wonderful. The corner store is bright and clean. Staff is very friendly. When answering my questions, they are very knowledgeable, thorough, and patient. Appointments are needed to get eye examinations. Dr. Chen is very pleasant and professional. They have a very good selection of frames. You can also bring in your own frame. It took a little over a week for me to get my glasses. When trying on my new classes, the gentleman was very patient. He took time to make sure that my glasses fit well and are comfortable. He also gave precise and useful information on how to get used to wearing the progressives. We should all support local businesses and this is one that stands out. read more

Love these guys! They are my go-to! I came here the first time a few years ago when I had plastic frames (from another place) that broke. They hooked me up with new glasses ~super~ quickly and with great customer service. I've returned year after year for all of my glasses needs--prescription sunglasses and glasses that I have always loved. You will not find better customer service. They are efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable. Glasses are always high quality, comfortable, and well priced. read more

Just had to post how friendly and neighborly Paul is from Manhattan Grand Optical at 203 Grand (corner of Mott). It may not be a large job but he replaced my lost sunglass screw for free in the midst of a busy afternoon and wouldn't even accept a tip. The store was full of customers and I could hear that each of the staff were equally as professional and caring. Plus they're well stocked in all types of frames and sunglasses. Keep them in mind if you need a new pair! read more

I first came to know of this spot when purchasing one of my favorite pair of glasses almost a decade ago. They have a wide selection and are known to have high quality brands. This place has been one of my go to spots as it's clear the staff here are very experienced, on top of having seriously the best customer service. I've had adjustments and repairs done here completely free of charge over the years and I cannot thank them enough for everything they've helped me with while still making me feel like family. Excellent service and abundant choice of cool frames! Very pleased!!!! We were visiting NYC over the weekend but my daughter forgot her glasses ( long story but it happened) . We were scrambling to find an optician that could help us.. I called and we were lucky enough to have an opening with their doc who provided a prescription, my picky teenage daughter loved the frames. I loved the quality and special package pricing but most importantly, they were able to help us out and get us the glasses in an hour as this was more of an emergency situation for us. Daughter chose their "house" brand frames that are Japan designed and manufactured in either japan or Germany. Very stylish and quality seems really nice. Extremely pleased and grateful for their service! Also, great job to entire staff that are following COVID safety protocol! read more

Excellent service and great variety of name brand frames. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly.

I've been here half a dozen times and I will keep going back because the customer service is excellent and prices are super reasonable! In order to save money, I also only get lenses instead of frames if my frames are still good and they are really accommodating and understanding. Tze Fung and Albert provided me excellent service this last time when I mistakenly arrived late to the shop and they still finished my glasses after hours. They really went above and beyond. I highly recommend!!! Thank you Manhattan Grand Optical!!! read more
