BEST place to get glasses! The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. The store carries a wide range of optical glasses, sunglasses and contacts from different brands including Raybans, Persol, etc. They will cater to your budget and find you the perfect pair of frames. If you don't have your prescription on hand, Eyesmate has an in-house optometrist (OD) to check your vision. When you buy your glasses, you can come back for free adjustments if needed! Eyesmate is the perfect store if you're looking for durable high quality glasses. I used to shop at Warby Parker, but my acetate frames would wear out after a year. I've been wearing my Eyesmate Persol frames for two years and have had no issues so far! read more

Eyesmate Optical - Persol frames! (With blue light protection) - Eyewear & Opticians Near Me - New York, New York

Been coming here for maybe 10 years now! Their customer service is top-notch. I forgot the eye doctor's name but she is fantastic. I'm a freelancer without health insurance and I was still able to get an affordable, quick eye exam. I also order all my contacts here and they quickly ship to my apartment. You can easily re-order over the phone - they make everything easy. Support small businesses, especially ones in Chinatown, like this one! read more

Extremely nice and helpful. The store is also extremely clean. I think I forgot to ask for his name but the older gentleman gave top notch customer service and helped me with my glasses search for quite possibly 40 minutes. He kept picking out frames that might suit me so I could try it out. The young man was also very friendly and helped you feel comfortable. The other older man was busy helping an elderly couple and was extremely patient towards them. The eye doctor, Dr. Choy was very amicable and was like a friend. She was filled with smiles and made sure all my questions were answered. 10/10. I would highly recommend coming here to get your eyes checked or to get glasses. Very fast and efficient process read more

I stopped in on a whim to see if they could repair my glasses and was blown away by how friendly and helpful they were. Johnny is a master with eyewear and was able to fix my frames after multiple places wouldn't even try. Then I got my lenses upgraded and the turnaround time is so fast! 2 days because they have their own facilities downstairs. Reasonable prices too. Highly recommend! read more

This is probably one of the cheapest place you can find for eye exam, glasses and frames. They have a lot of high end brands and you can always negotiate the price for frames. The contact exam here is $70. It is not cheaper than online but it is always good to try the frames or sunglasses on before you purchase them. read more

Super helpful staff & great prices for all things related to optometry. What I like is that the staff is very realistic with you & won't try to sell you anything - they'll try to help you to their best knowledge. They also have pretty reasonable hours! read more

I needed to replace my glasses and had no time to pick them up during my hectic schedule. Luckily they offer me the same day service and I could have my eyeglasses the same day. Johnny offered the same day service and concierge service !!! WOW!. Got my glasses delivered and adjusted by a license optician with well equipped tools. Another personalized and convenient experience !!. read more

This place tries to rip off their customers. Please avoid. I got an eye exam there and they tried to limit my purchases of contacts from their parties. They are just trying to rip people off and make money. Also poor service when I went for my eye exam. read more

Thank you Kitty for your help. Yelpers are telling the truth about the customer service here. I had my eye exam performed here. I had a great experience. It was efficient and quick. I didn't have to wait long. I was watching kitty help another customers as I waited for the eye doctor. The staff here make sure you are satisfied and the glasses fit nicely. read more

Customer service here is amazing. The doctor was courteous and very knowledgable. They are an honest business that really makes the customer feel cared for. (The opposite of some practices that rush you in and out for an insurance check.) I highly recommend this place. read more

Was in the mood for a new pair of sunnies after losing mine. My family goes here so I decided to try it out myself. In the middle of Chinatown~ The workers were SO nice and really helped me pick just the right pair :) they also have the newest styles of glasses and sunglasses. They helped me pick out a perfect pair of NEW RayBan Clubmasters. They ALSO did a fitting and adjusted it for my face. They made sure I had the PERFECT fit. GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!!! Will come here for my future eyeglasses and sunnies. read more

Great service, friendly staff, trendy (and practical) selections, and clean facilities. Dr. Mui gets my applause for being the best optometrist I've encountered. Her cheerful demeanor and thorough exam make the visit extra pleasant. You know you're in good hands when you step into this quaint shop. read more

I found this place through a coworker and they rock. Most eye doctors rip you off with lenses These guys are very reasonable and fairly fast. I usually get my lenses within 1-2 days of dropping them off. I keep my frames (they're Versace and will be with me for a long time) but I swap out the lenses every year or 2 when my prescription changes. In the 3 years I've been going there, they have not raised their price. My lenses cost me $120 and right now they have a yelp deal. When you check in there you get an extra 20% off glasses and sunglasses(sweet!) so highly recommend. read more

Best in the world. Great prices and quick service. I have been going for several years now. Highly recommended.

New store looks AWESOME!!! The staff is courteous and provided me with the best support and attention I needed. As a first time glasses owner, doctor was informative and gave me very thorough explanation of my diagnosis... read more

These guys were supposed to get four stars. Their prices are certainly low. But always be wary when something is that low. I needed to get prescription lenses in my original Ray-Ban Wayfarers. Another store said the turn around time was one hour but their price was higher. These guys while charging less, guaranteed that it would take four days. That was fine - I was in no rush. They asked me to return four days later. I live quite far from the store. When I went to pick them up, they were not ready. Three hours wasted. Finally when they were ready a few days later and I went to pick them up, turned out that the had discontinued the tint I requested. They had used a different tint without asking me. Big NO! Had I known, I would have canceled my order and gone to the other pricier place. Lesson learned. read more

Even after moving out of town, I still come back to this store for my glasses and contacts. They also have great deals on contacts, which you can reorder by phone at any time and to be delivered directly to your house! read more

I've been going to Eyesmate Optical for close to 5 years now. Buying maybe 2-3 pairs a yr... Although selection isnt as extensive as bigger stores, they still carry quite a bit to choose from. They never pushed me to buy anything that doesnt fit right just to make a sale... read more

Came in for a contact lens fitting. Instead, they gave me a routine eye exam. Sounds alright, no? NO! Not only were they not equipped to dilate my pupils, they also did not sanitize the machinery before I put my face into them. Like what....? Okay, on with the actual exam. Right before I went into the room, they measured my astigmatism and the lady who did so gave an unpleasantly surprised, "whoa..." I am here to have my eyes professionally checked, not to be judged by the likes of you, you horrible person! Another huge tick off: I signed up to see Dr. Julia Kim and SPECIFICALLY Julia Kim and guess who shows up as the doctor? NOT Dr. Julia Kim. Instead, they gave me a male doctor who, after a crude, "sit down", gave me a pretty tiny set of letters to read and when I couldn't, he gave another unpleasant "whoa..." Like...why? Am I paying your bitch ass to judge me? Granted, the exam was very efficient and quick and he answered a lot of my questions. HOWEVER, that was all he did. Answer questions as if I was a professor and he was a student. No reassurances, no helpful tips...NOTHING. I left the place feeling more scared than when I went in. So my advice to those reading this, DO. NOT. GO. FOR. EYE. EXAMS. I'm sure their prescription glasses are WONDERFUL but their eye exams are horrible. Good luck. read more

super doctor, very friendly super staff, affordable prices. They deserve more than five. Unfortunately five is the highest rating.

An eye exam (Rx and general check up). $30 (you don't need a health insurance to get the exam at this price point). I walked in. There was an open time slot and I had the exam and the Rx printed with the OD signature. It was hygienic, and staff and the optometrist were both helpful. I used the Rx to buy new pairs of glasses online, but the store also carries a reasonable stock of frames. read more

Their customer service is ON POINT. I've been coming here over the past 4-5 years for my contacts. Their eye exam is inexpensive, and I've never had to wait- just walked in the same day and was seen right away. Jai is a sweetheart! He gave me plenty of samples to last until my contacts came in and when I went to go pick them up he ran outside to bring them to me so I didn't have to worry about finding parking. Everyone is awesome :) read more

If only I can give 0 stars. This place does not know how to operate. It knows nothing about eye wear, and most importantly, the eyes. The salesman truly dissed me. They have a good selection, but not as good as the one down the block, the one on the corner of Mott St. called 88 Optical. Eyesmate Optical has no clue what glasses are, and how it fits on the face. Glasses are an alien thing to them, even though they wear glasses themselves. They know how to sell the glasses because of their smooth talking though. I got a pair of Nike flexons, and they said that a year from then, I can get them replaced, due to warranty, even though if it's not broken. Well, a year later, my mom made me come to this shit ass place to get a new one. I'm not the greedy type, but my mom is a bit, so she made me get a fresh pair. They said that it would come in a day. So the next day, I went to get it, and it turns out that I have to pay an extra $10 for the "shipping" fee. I later found out that the glasses that they said they replaced were the same ones that I gave them to replace. I know this b/c there was clearly some paint rubbing off on the right side, and this was exactly what I saw in the supposedly new pair. So basically, they freaking jipped me. If there was no warranty available, then they should have said so. But instead they just cleaned up my glasses, and pretended that it got replaced, and even took my 10 bucks. They are a bunch of f*heads. Not only that, but I realized when I went home that my glasses were crooked on my face. So I went back a week later, and guess what? The retard of a salesman tried to fix it, but couldn't, so he said that my eyes are crooked! I didn't say anything b/c I was young then, but seriously?! Are you fukcing joking me? Blaming my eyes for an easy job you cannot do?! That is just f*cked up. There is nothing wrong with my eyes. So I went to 88 Optical to get it fixed. Don't ever go to this place. They probably will jip you, and blame you and your features for a job that they screwed up on. Just walk down the block to 88 Optical. They have excellent service, and they will adjust your glasses for free, w/o any questions asked, or better yet, w/o dissing you. read more

I have been going to Eyesmate for the past five years. The staff is really kind and accommodating. I usually get contacts here twice a year (six month supply) and glasses 1-2X per year. There is also a great deal on eye exams, which are done right in the store. I have never had problems with Eyesmate, and furthermore, they have helped me out when I was really broke in-between jobs-- giving me a sample pair of lenses to wear for 2 weeks until I received my first paycheck. Highly recommended. I wouldn't go anywhere else in NYC. read more

Johnny was extremely helpful regarding everything I needed to know about contact lenses. So grateful I found him and Eyesmate Optical!

GO HERE IF YOU WANT YOUR EYES RED and SWOLLEN. I really regret coming to this place. I came here yesterday looking to get daily disposable contact lenses. I told them My eyes are dry I want to get the most moist one. The young female optometrist gave me an eyes exam and she gave me a pair to try she claimed it's good for dry eyes. I put it on, paid $65 and left. Today I woke up with my eyes swollen and red like a rabbit. (Yesterday after wearing it for half day my eyes was a bit red and discomfort but I thought it's normal because I have dry eyes) I've been wearing CT many years,I never had any problems with my eyes before except dryness. I went back, the women who works there was very rude and irresponsible. She blamed everything on me. She said that it's just because my eyes are too sensitive. Then another female optometrist checked my eyes and said that I am having allergy reaction to something so she gave me a prescription. I went to CVS right a way. She gave something that my insurance don't cover and it caused almost $300. I called them back. The Cantonese women raised her voice over me and keep saying " it's your problem, your eyes are sensitive your don't want to pay $300 it's your problem not ours, Doctor is off work now.Come Friday if you want another prescription " (We were speaking in Chinese ) She was repeating and not allowing me to talk. T.T I am a very nice, reasonable and soft heart person, I don't like arguing for things that had already happened. Just want it fix and over. her attitude really made me Angry and I won't let them cheap me like this. Tomorrow I will go again and get my $65 back. I rather give it to homeless. DONT GO HERE only unprofessional and irresponsible people here. Also this place is LACK OF SANITATION. Come here if you want to get red eyes. (Longest review I ever made) read more

I recently came to Eyesmate for a contact lens exam. I had called several places around the area to get a quote and this is the cheapest. When I got there on a Sunday afternoon, I was able to get my exam completed without wait. I can't say anything about the styles they offer as I was only there for the exam. But the place seem clean and neat and the people there were efficient and polite. If you're looking for just an exam and then ordering contacts online, I highly recommend going to Eyesmate. read more

Words can't describe my amazing experience with this place that dates back to its opening when I was a high school student (over 15 years ago)! I have literally come every year, whether it's for contacts, eye glasses, lenses, etc-- and have never been disappointed. Kitty and her staff provides a phenomenal customer service experience. They go above and beyond from providing superbly unbeatable prices, vast selection of latest styles/trends, and all other conveniences designed to make their clients a priority. Even back when I was attending college out of town, the staff would personally mail my eyeglasses/contacts/etc free of charge up to the tundra of New Hampshire! I pray that this hidden gem stays for as long as I live... or until the day when technology is able to permanently correct my terrible vision. I have introduced Eyesmate to numerous friends and colleagues, and all have raved about this establishment. You literally can't go wrong! read more

They have great personnel here. My friend and I went in to try out some frames and the young guy there was really helpful, gave us good advice and was really patient with us. He told us about his collection of glasses and that we should spend more time trying out frames. My glasses had a loose screw on the hinge and he fixed it, no charge! I would definitely go back. read more

Amazing customer service! My friend has been coming here for years & introduced me during a recent trip to NYC. Seriously, I've been wearing glasses & contacts for a long time & I've never gotten better service. Dr. Lee was incredibly patient in explaining what might be causing dryness in my eyes. I got an updated contact prescription a few months, but it never felt quite right - my regular optometrist was stumped & I've just been dealing with less than clear vision in one eye. Dr. Lee recommend another brand (monthly Cooper Vision) and just like that, vision problem solved. The owner Kitty gave me a fantastic deal on the eye exam & contacts package - along with free samples of the peroxide contact cleaning system for the monthly lenses. I've never even gotten such great care with my own regular optician of 20+ years. I'll be recommending family & friends and coming here myself anytime I'm in New York. read more
