Not too far from Wrigleyvillle, nestled in an adorable North Center neighborhood, right on the corner of Irving Park Road and Hoyne, I do believe I've found the quintessential coffee house. You've got your artsy esthetic with a large painted "life" collage adorning the brick walls, and a sampling of every texture known to man, aside from fabric, I think: first the aforementioned brick; polished white tile for the back splash; wood flooring and planked bar, stainless steel and copper lighting fixtures. You've got big picture windows bringing all the light in. And that's a CHECK! on the hipster barista who's not all that chatty but pours some mighty fine coffee and tea. They are serving up Metropolis Coffee in all the expected offerings, including non-dairy milk options, some pastries, and the all powerful wifi. It's an ideal location to pop in your earbuds and get some work or studying done, or even better curl up with a book and a hot cuppa. Well, maybe not "curl up" as it's more industrial elements as opposed to cozy couches, but it's very inviting and beautiful, none the less. (There's also coffee candies in the bathroom. They don't price their drinks in the cooler, so I got hit with a whopping $5.50 for a small kombucha. Also, the WiFi info wasn't posted, and I got a weird look from the barista when I asked him what the info was (then it didn't really work). In fact, he made me feel like a bother just by staring me down as I took a second to look over the menu (which is why I hurriedly grabbed a kombucha). this is my favorite coffee shop in the area and I regularly stop there. my favorite is the chestnut latte or the marshmallow latte.

Came to Chicago for work from Denver,Co. Coming from oHare my cab driver took Irving park rd and suggested the new local coffee shop right on a a corner of Hoyne & Irving park rd. I was amazed of this place. First off - medium roast coffee that gives you wings after long flight.Interior super slick,modern,very high end bar top. Live in the neighborhood and wanted to try for awhile. First they don't take cash-note to self, good thing I had my phone for Apple Pay cuz I didn't see that posted anywhere. Place is adorable and every detail of decor just works. Mentioned it was our first time and did not feel man or woman working were very friendly. Did not feel very welcomed at all even after mentioned it being our first time! Ordered frappe's and they we're not great. My husband disliked his more than me but I agree they were watery, didn't taste blended well and not even filled to top of small cup. My husband even saw barista ask if she should make more to fill them and other person there said not to. I would give 3 stars but being kind for neighborhood place. Nice place to hangout if commercial ones are too crowds for you. The place has lots of local coming in and out. Nice to hang out but would be nicer if they have more comfy chairs and plug for your laptops. This place also have a nice barista, friendly and not in a hurry to help you. read more

Damn good Vietnamese coffee. Absolutely delicious and one of the closest I've had to the real thing in the US. On the pricier side but well worth it. The space is also super cool and the service is excellent. This is a great neighborhood coffee spot, and I miss it now that I don't live in North Center anymore. read more

Very cute local coffee shop in Chicago! I came here since they had some coupon available on Yelp for a free cup of coffee. Aesthetics of the store are nice. It was a quiet space without a lot of traffic. I could study here if I needed too. I also ordered a sandwich while I was there and it was tasty with a generous portion. read more

The coffee is good, and the ambience is nice. The coffee offerings are typical of local coffee shops in the areas. The barista working the counter wasn't particularly friendly. One of our coffees we're filled 2/3 of the way up the glass. Maybe it was an off day for him, but definitely the first and last experience for me here. He was also chewing on food behind the counter which I personally find off putting. There are plenty of local coffee shops with excellent ambience and coffee that offer much better customer service. read more

The coffee and food are pretty good, but they have ONE person working on a busy Sunday morning.

It was a decent place for coffee and studying. It's pretty small inside so might be hard to find a table to sit at but otherwise it's okay.

Within the first steps in the shop, I was in love with all the artwork. It was so creative and aesthetically pleasing. The shop was very spacious with plenty of seats available. I loved how their menu was painted largely on the wall. The barista was nice and quickly made the drinks. I just ordered the cold brew and it had a certain spice, that gave it a unique aftertaste. Their bathroom was clean and had some espresso candy in there which was a nice little treat! I plan on coming back here to get some work done and hopefully get to order their Marshmello latte, which looked so good! read more

Terrible service. I tried to call in an order. No answer so I went there and said why don't u answer ur phone. They said we don't have a phone. I said. Well there is a number on ur website. I wanted a nice Turkey and Swiss sandwich. Well out of Swiss cheese and then they grill it. I said I don't want it grilled. They said that's what we do. I was disappointed. 35 dollars later. Recently moved to the Roscoe/North Center area and Coffee Joint has become one of my go-to spots for cold brew and breakfast. The muffins and sandwiches are delicious. My personal favorites are the All Veggie and the Lox Sandwich. Highly recommend visiting on a Saturday morning when they have donuts available from Downstate Donuts :) support this local spot! read more

This is a long-overdue review. I've been to this coffee shop several times before the pandemic. The baristas was always welcoming and attentive, and the coffee, especially the espresso drinks, was very enjoyable. I'm looking forward to revising this shop soon. read more

Came in here a few weeks ago. The coffee was good, nothing to complain about. The iced mocha did taste a bit like chocolate milk, but maybe that's just me. The barista was very friendly and helpful. Horrible experience. They don't take cash. POS was down that day so they could not take credit cards. I had a 50$ order and they turned me away because they would not take cash. last time I checked cash was a legal tender in America. They turned away customers willing to pay. read more

Warm spot (with a few outside tables on a side street for spring/summer) with friendly service and a great drink menu. The marshmallow latte is served with a bruleed homemade marshmallow on top! I have been here a few times to get coffee before I pick up my son from school. Always friendly service and tasty beverages.
