I have been wanting to check out Coffee Dose in Orange County so when they opened up a location Encinitas I definitely had to check them out. For the Fourth of July weekend it wasn't too busy and the location is pretty close to the free way and there is plenty of parking. If you're only wanting to get a drink and leave the food runners had mentioned their app, which I took plenty of advantage of. I was a basic bitch, so I got an iced matcha latte with sweet cream topper, it was delicious but next time I definitely want to get the Valley Girl that has a blueberry marshmallow syrup and that sounds so good to me. I ended up staying in line because I wanted to get a key chain, next time I definitely getting myself the Anti-Bitch serum glass, it's so cute. Unfortunately did not live up to the hype. The ambiance and drinks were amazing, 10/10, but the food lacked flavor and was overall disappointing. I'm not a debby downer nor am I a Coffee Dose hater! I've been going to multiple CD locations for multiple years and I've enjoyed all of them! This one just didn't seem to have the same level of appeal. The food also took a while to get to the table even though it was ready and waiting to be picked up by employees. (hence why the food like pancakes were soggy). Wanted to see what the hype was all about so came here at 2 pm on a Tuesday. No line so that's a place. The vibe is very very cute so that's number 1. Not too many seats inside so take that into account in the hot weather. Plenty of seating outside. We ordered bananaramas with espresso and some baked goods. The drinks were delicious and I will definitely be back for that. The pastries were hard and cold. I had to ask to warm it up and even then, not great. So don't come here for the baked goods. This place is a cute, aesthetic coffee shop! I went in the late morning, and although it was busy, the line moved pretty quickly. You order first, grab a number, and then find a seat. I ordered the Bananarama Iced Espresso Latte, which is made with their house-made banana sweet cream, and it was so good. The banana flavor really comes through without being overpowering, making it a fun and delicious twist on a latte. For food, my friend and I shared the Chi Chi Burrito, Double Disco Pancakes, and a hash brown. The portions are definitely shareable, which was perfect for trying a few different items. I was surprised how easily it was for us to get a table. Indoors was a cute vibe, but definitely loud. Outdoors was nicer, but wish they had more umbrellas to protect from the sun. I came for the grand opening and boy was it crowded. It was later in the day so I can only imagine how busy it was when they opened in the AM. I waited for about 25 minutes. They had menus waiting so you could figure out what you wanted in advance. I wanted an affogato but I was informed they don't do them to go. I was disappointed, but I had to pivot quickly and went for the Goldie. It didn't take very long to come up. I'm not sure if I had the right drink. The color didn't indicate turmeric. It did not taste of tumeric at all, just cinnamon and a lot of sugar. I have been so excited to finally have Coffee Dose in San Diego (even better in North County), that I had to go opening day! It was busy as expected but looked even better than imagined. I love that every location of Coffee Dose has their own look but still follows the branding as a whole. They also seemed to have more seating than some of their other locations which is a plus. I did go in towards end of day so the line was a breeze and I got my favorite matcha right away. The Mary Matcha was perfect! Their quality is top tier, and this new location is no different. I was here during the soft opening and everything was perfect. I returned on a Friday a week later and the line was 50 minutes long in the sun. They passed out menus to everyone and offered to bring a pup cup and water for our dogs which was very much appreciated. When we finally made it inside we ordered our drinks, a pastry and a birthday card. Because we had our dogs, once the order was placed I stepped outside with them and stood again in the sun. It would be nice if there were benches and more umbrellas for sun cover. I was there at least 15 minutes wondering why it was taking so long. Apparently, someone else with the same name took our drinks and then was complaining that it wasn't what she ordered. My daughter told the barista and she didn't believe her and wanted to see the receipt- I get it, but it was kind of rude the way she responded in an accusatory manner. I ordered the Bananarama which was really good (next time I'll add an extra shot though - which I think will make it perfect!), and the breakfast burrito (also really good). You order at the counter then take your number to any available seat and food will be delivered there, but you pick up your drinks at the bar when your name is called. For a newly opened BUSY restaurant, we did not wait long for our order and our food arrived hot and fresh. I think it really helped that they have a lot of staff to keep things flowing efficiently. Food 5/5 -Bananarama $8, brown sugar espresso latte with banana cream top, LOVED it. The banana cream top was not overwhelming at all but fragrant, subtle enough that you can keep taking sips and don't feel like you're drowning in sugar. Perfect dose of caffeine if you're not looking to feel jittery all day. I would love to try this again with their matcha option. -Thicky thicc $6, iced americano with vanilla cream, the vanilla cream is so yum and creamy and overall they just have really good quality espresso. It's deep and strong just like how I prefer it, get this if you want to get everything on your to-do list done in one day. -Devilish eggs $9, deviled eggs topped with crispy bacon bits, no notes on the taste except that it's definitely overpriced for 2 whole eggs. -Le omelette $16, decent portion size and had a nice balance with the side arugula salad, omelette is fresh and delicious, I was not crazy impressed but I would get it again. -Double disco $21, this is definitely something I would come here for alone. The pancakes are truly enormous, in the best way. Slightly crispy on the outside, and very soft fluffy HOT on the inside, syrupy and buttery pancake heaven. I would've preferred the syrup on the side because they are so big and I couldn't eat them fast enough before the bottom pancake gets completely soaked and soggy by the syrup, but that's only my personal preference. Overall this is the crowd pleaser for sure! Ambiance 5/5 -The retro decor is definitely the highlight here, everything is right aesthetically, cute cafe to catch up while having food and drinks. It definitely lives up to its hype with just being an overall fun little diner vibe experience with all the fun decor. We tried a few different drinks and the coffee was really good. Also had the cloud pancakes which I know are kind of trending right now. I wasn't a fan but that probably has more to do with preference of a good old fashioned buttermilk pancake. We met a friend here for lunch on a Friday, but we never actually ate here. The line was out the door and down the sidewalk when we arrived ... and moved less than 6' in 10 minutes. I checked inside with the cashier to make sure we were in the correct line. Sure enough, both take-out and waiting for tables were comingled in the same line. We also came with our stroller and our baby can't sit in a high chair yet so it was hard with first come first serve for tables when our group was for 5. Loved the "anti-bitch serum cups" but the coffee was a weird roast and they didn't steam the milk right.... Servers kept checking on us but they offered us water when we were almost done with our food and then kept asking us about boxes it felt like we were getting rushed away a bit. The highlight was the latkes (potato cakes) which were tasty and the burger had good carmelized onions on it). Ordinarily, a place like this with all its Instagram flair would probably get fewer stars from me, but they did a couple of things that I think really earned them the extra couple of stars. Firstly, considering how busy they are, it seems like they are running the establishment really well. The service has all been nice. I've been here twice and have actually had someone pull me out of the line because we intended to eat there so they said we could have a spot at the bar. Pretty cool service-wise. I think they also need some points for the fact that they are not priced too crazy for the area. Food comes out quickly. I had the bagel (not pictured), pancakes, latkes, and blueberry foam coffee. I have to say that the sweet menu items here are extremely sweet. My go to order is an iced mocha, so I love sweet coffee, but this place totally gave me a sugar crash. The sweetness is not the only reason I am docking one star. I have to echo the comments that others have made here that the language used throughout the menu/store, is sort of unnecessary and not professional. The claim by the owners of "reclaiming" the language doesn't quite wash with me and I think considering where we are, Rancho Santa Fe/Encinitas, rather than say, Hillcrest, demands something a little bit more thoughtful from the owners. But I understand that there is a brand of rebelliousness they are trying to channel here. I just think it's better if we all speak better to one another rather than normalize it. But overall, definitely a worthwhile place to come and eat. I would like it to come back especially when the hype dies down. I'm not big into lines or being seen at a specific place. Came here unexpectedly on grand opening day . Line was about 15 min to order . That was fine got my banana Rama about 5 min after I ordered which was fast . Decor so cute staff so friendly. Here's where I have to say I will not be returning for food here waited 55 min for a breakfast sandwich while people who sat down 30 min after me got their food at the 30 min mark I asked one of the staff they said mine was up next 20 min later right before I was about to walk out I got a the sandwich nothing special . Also I believe the owners family was seated next to me and he tried to take the umbrella I was using for shade for them . I guess if you're only coming for coffee this place makes a good iced coffee . Probably need to work on getting food out sooner .
