I've been here before covid plenty of times and it was great. Outlets and wifi, 2-hr street parking or parking in surrounding neighborhoods, seating indoors and outdoors. Today I came in and decided to just go for their lemonade. Absolutely not worth $5 for a tart, yet almost tasteless drink. The lady who took my order was also unfriendly. Their music is ridiculously loud for a place that has consists mostly of people working on laptops. I'm a huge fan of coffee shops with good music playing overhead, but it's so loud that even music with the volume all the way up in my earbuds isn't able to drown it out. Overall, this is a solid place to get work done but it's such a bummer that the drinks are overpriced and the music is way too loud. What a cute breakfast spot! I've lived around here for about 4 years and never been here before until a friend introduced me to it! When you walk up to the register you order with the cashier and they call your name when it's ready. There's inside and outside seating available. We got seated at the booths which was nice and spacious. We ordered the avocado toast and the burrito and their lattes. So so good! Was excited to try out this new coffee shop in Glendale. It's definitely got the trendy/hipster vibe. They made a good flat white and seem to have a wide selection of pastries and a pretty full menu for breakfast and lunch. They have a pretty wide selection of seating from booths to tables to outdoor seating with umbrellas. My only complaint would be that the music is pretty loud and when it's gets full with people it gets even louder. read more

Mid coffee, super crowded for no reason, and ok food. The cost and quality of the coffee and bakery items are questionable. It's about $7 a latte and all I taste is almond milk. I've gave it a shot more than a few times and it's just not for me. It's always so chaotic in there and too noisy to even sit down. Plus parking is always an issue. I really enjoy this coffee spot very much. Although I am no longer a coffee drinker I have to say their coffee beverages are very good. I've never been a Starbucks coffee person but I worked there for 4 years and would always take a local coffee spot over a Starbucks beverage any day. I believe their syrups here are homemade and their oatmilk vanilla latte was to die for. I haven't tried their food items yet but will be coming back soon to do so. I like the layout of coffee commissary it has a warehouse feel. They are pricy. There is plenty of street parking. The vibe sort of sucks. Blasting music like club blasting loud. Not only is it blasting it's really bad. I have to sit outside so I can focus when working on my laptop. If I have to go inside I wear ear plugs. They also need to clean their tables and bathrooms. Giant bug in bathroom today, and I had to ask for a table to be wiped down for me. The guy took his sweet time getting there. I've gotten the matcha not bad. The banana bread is a huge slice but one side is always dried out every time I've been in there. They need to cover up the pastries so they stay fresh. read more

Another update. This update is strictly how well they followed guidelines when this guy walks in without a mask and was told to put a mask on. He claims to have a medical condition and can't wear a mask. The chef told him that he needs to be outside and that the food can be delivered to him. The guy was a douche about it and was unapologetic. Bravo to the chef for enforcing masking during this raging pandemic! Everyone else is wearing a mask inside. Having worked in hospitality before, I pride myself on being patient and understandable when it comes to long wait times, especially during the weekend brunch rush. However, I don't understand why a latte took 30 minutes to prepare. I understand food taking that long, but a drink? I was also ignored by all the people working, including what looked to be the owner, when I tried to politely ask for an update 15 mins in. Maybe my order was erased off their board, maybe someone else took it, who knows? Best part of my visit was the cute dog that came in, I'm not even gonna lie. I prefer my espresso more on the silky, creamy side but this one was actually very pleasant... there wasn't much of a bitter after taste. They pull shots on a Strada, solid espresso machine. I spied this joint last week when i had an ear lowering next door. Though i have lived in Glendale for a number of years i have really spent zero time on Kenneth Road and therefore did not really know what treasures or booby prizes there were here. Coffee Commissary is not a b prize for sure beginning with the drip coffee. Though they sell all manner of espresso drinks i always start, at any new coffee emporium with a drip. A drip coffee shows me where the company's head is situated: what beans they use, the quality of the beans and how much or little the roast is. I also surmise that most people order plain old coffee when it all boils down to it. Am i right? I think yes but if not let me know. In any event, today i ordered: A cup (only one size! why, why, why?) of Dark Roast drip An order of eggy Austin Tacos with chips and Habanero chili sauce Cinnamon Sugar Brioche (which i assume comes from the Valley bakery across the street) The Coffee served here (16-ish ozs?) is rich, fruity but too much water used in the brewing for my taste, Meaning: it is not strong enough. More beans, less water i'm guessing would produce a heartier product. I could also taste hints of blackberry and cherry...but just barely. This seems to be an industry-wide issue: a money saving one, maybe? Question to coffee commissary people: why only one size? I know that the actual beans are variable in cost but 4 bucks for 4 gulps of coffee is a little high but if the coffee itself were very rich and caffeinated...i would not be complaining. Larger sizes would give me a better caffeine high....to be honest. Good coffee, not strong enough. I had to buy 2. The so called Austin Tacos were pretty good. And this was after they spent about 40 minutes in my car. I like the use of flour tortillas for a change but the filling is nondescript though it all melds together as a cohesive whole. Yeah i know a lot of fancy words to put out there: this taco is tasty though room temp but i honestly could only taste the egg, a bit of bacon and a schmear of avocado. It seems to me that you need to cut the items, increase the portions and you will have a primo Taco...Austin or Tex-Mex style or not. The chips are hot, tasty, crispy and the Habanero sauce (more like a thick salsa) was tasty though not hot enough for something that bills itself as a Habanero item. The Cinnamon Sugar Brioche from the Valley Bakery across the street is delectable: a buttery, big fat Brioche roll with sweeter than sweet dusting of good cinnamon and sugar. (and yes there are qualities of cinnamon out there and they use a very good quality of one on this item). The service is informative and pleasant. Why has it taken me this long to review Coffee Commissary? It really came down to a visit one Sunday morning with my now wife (just married the day before), her sister and sister's husband. Neither of them had been here yet, so my wife and I took them under our wing and showed them the way of the delicious breakfast burritos. We like to walk here from across Kenneth, it's really a great experience. When it's just my wife and I, we like to do the Atlantic Sunday crossword puzzle while we eat. Usually busy but service is relatively quick. Will definitely be back for more. read more

Always saw this place, never really came in until this year, but I'm so glad I did! The first time I tried their coffee it was actually at the Burbank location, and this one is significantly better. Their coffee (my order is an iced vanilla latte) isn't my favorite in the whole world. That's why I'm not giving them the full five stars, but it gets better every time I try it. I like mine with a little bit of liquid sweetener so it isn't too bitter and it tastes great! The main reason I go here is for their avocado toast. It is the best I've ever had. The bread is thick and fluffy. They use this really good tomato spread and put arugula on top. I crave it all the time. My friends have also tried their weekend breakfasts (the salmon Benedict) and they love it. They don't have their own parking lot and seating has never been available inside, so if those are things that bother you, perhaps the other location is a better option. I also read some other reviews saying the service was really unfriendly. I mean I wouldn't say they have the best customer service but I feel as though the employees are just shy, not mean. These are all things that never really bother me, but could be a drawback for some people. The one thing that always surprises me is how expensive my totals come out to be. Two lattes and two toasts were $29 once. If you're looking for something quick and inexpensive, perhaps this isn't the best place. Overall, it's a cute little shop in Kenneth Village. You can always walk around for a little after you're done at the coffee shop. I would definitely recommend coming at least once to try the avocado toast. read more

Don't come here often enough to know if these are miserable and rude individuals, or they were having a sh*t day. Hire people with better attitudes that are cordial and respectful (not even asking for cheerful and nice). Drinks are also overrated, even when I've been here before, it's a notch above Starbucks and a notch below philz... Prices however are high. Seems like a hipster brand of coffee where they try and mimic independent roasteries, however they fail in delivering. Cute little cafe in the middle of Kenneth village aka the most adorable little street. They have a small parking lot in the back but there is street parking available also. When I first walked in I got this New York vibe. It was very industrial chic, which I love. They didn't have many workers so I had to wait for a while until the barista / waitress / order taker took my order. Also, they don't have a variety of selections for food. Especially for breakfast. I wanted something in the healthy side that is not a pastry and the only thing close to that was the vanilla yogurt with home made granola. So I went with that and regular iced coffee. I made sure to ask the woman if the yogurt was too sweet and she said no. Moments later my coffee came out followed by the yogurt granola. It was made in the cutest mason jar and I'm a sucker for cute presentations. Despite what the worker told me, the yogurt was indeed on the sweeter side. It also had a lot of cinnamon inside which I like but that much of it was overwhelming and took over the whole thing. I couldn't finish it, after 3 bites I was pretty much done.
