I found this place when I was looking for some seafood to eat on a Friday during Lent, and now this is my go-to place! The shrimp tacos are soooo good - probably the best I've ever had! It's meaty, crunchy, savory yet sweet! This is my second day in a row picking up. I also tried the garlic shrimp which I love over a bed of rice and nice fresh little side salad. It's all so simple but all so well seasoned and delicious! The place itself is really cute. Transports you to a tropical place. Even has seating outside with umbrellas. I got the sampler and tried spicy, coco shrimp and butter garlic, all options were delicious!! The portions are great. It's heavy on rice but you can ask for less rice and more salad if you'd like. Staff was very nice. Decor is cute. I would love to come back and try the double coco tacos. By the time we were leaving they had music playing and the outdoor lights on. I came with my three young kids and ordered plenty of food - three shrimp plates and two tacos -- more than enough for four people. When I asked for one extra fork, the staff told me they couldn't give me another one because of "how many items we ordered." I was genuinely stunned. With the amount of food we ordered, it shouldn't even be a question. This made me wonder if this place secretly expects a "I plate per person" rule, because that's the only way their response would make any sense - but if that's the case, it was never mentioned anywhere. Sharing food as a family is completely normal, and asking for an extra fork is the most basic request. The way they handled it was unnecessarily rude, dismissive, and made us feel extremely unwelcome. For a restaurant to treat a family like this over a simple fork is unbelievable. Great casual spot for lunch or dinner! Our group tried several different shrimp flavors. I loved the sampler because I like to try a variety of flavors. I really couldn't pick a favorite, they were all amazing! The butter garlic is heavily smothered in butter but so so good. Cocoshrimp has a nice flavor of coconut and the dipping sauce is perfect with it. The spicy shrimp is great option if you like more sautéed/spice flavor. We became aware of Coco Shrimp when they were a participating restaurant in the Plano Citizens Police Academy Fundraiser for their scholarship fund - frankly, we had not heard of them before. What a FIND!! Coco Shrimp's website is a very straightforward, user friendly, and easy to navigate set-up and we ordered two dishes for pick-up deciding to try the sampler (choice of three types) and one Sweet and Spicy shrimp. For reasons unknown, although the webpage seemed to work well when I arrived they not only did not have my order ready, they could find no record of it having been placed. Everyone was very courteous about it, but in spite of three different employees trying, the order was not to be found. To make matters worse, I could not find an acknowledgement of my order either in email or text. Enter, and she could have been riding a white horse, Melissa, the district manager. She had no more luck finding the order than had anyone else and all I could locate was a notification from Visa that my credit card had been charged. In short order, Melissa apologized for the mixup, asked me what we had ordered, and said it would be ready shortly. Within 10 minutes the order was brought to me and due to me having some mobility difficulties she even carried it to my car. My heroine!!! The food exceeded the service!! I consider myself a bit of a snob when it comes to shrimp dishes and my main complaint is that most establishments overcook shrimp! Not Coco Shrimp - on my three different style sampler each group was cooked to perfection. My wife's Sweet and Spicy was likewise done just right. Something unusual for a fast food establishment was the salad. It was fresh, had several ingredients and the poppyseed dressing was delicious. The shrimp are advertised as being on a "bed of rice" and that is an understatement. The rice portion is huge in comparison to what we expected and was also delicious. The mix-up with the order is something I'm sure will be worked out - it may have been a simple computer glitch since when I got home I found that while I was traveling a receipt had been sent to my phone and when checked the following day by phone with Melissa to see if she needed a copy of the receipt for the restaurant records she was able to locate the order using the order number. This place is amazing.... When they get your order correct. I've ordered from coco shrimp now probably 12 times and of all those times the tacos have only been right 3 times. Tonight I ordered 3 double tacos with NO sweet chili sauce, my order arrives and there is so much sweet chili sauce on all of them it's dripping out of the tacos. I've placed the same order in store and guess what, they were still smothered in sweet chili sauce. Is it really that hard to read a ticket and follow instructions? The shrimp boxes I order are always on point but having my order messed up this many times makes me not want to come back. Also went in on Friday 8/23 at 9:20pm and was told the taco station in the back had already been closed and I needed to get something else....
