We came here to celebrate Mother's Day for my mom and one of my sisters, and honestly, our waiter Johan made the entire experience unforgettable. He went far above and beyond what we expected. Not only was he incredibly attentive to our table, but even while helping other tables, he always made sure to come back and check on us. At one point, someone accidentally removed my food without my consent, and he noticed immediately. Without hesitation, he made it right and brought back the food that had been taken from my plate. That level of attention and care truly stood out. What touched us the most was his kindness and humility. He even brought roses for my mom and my sister for Mother's Day, which was such a thoughtful gesture and made the celebration feel even more special. The atmosphere of the restaurant was already wonderful, but his character, professionalism, and genuine service elevated the entire experience. Because of him, we will absolutely be coming back. Took a group of 11 Moms for brunch today. We were seated 10:55 am. Drink order taken 15 minutes later. Our meals arrived over a span of 22 minutes. Asked to leave at 12:15, just as I was collecting funds (cuz they only give 1 bill). I feel it was rude how they pressured us to hurry and pay. The service was ho-hum. Had to flag people down for basics (water, coffee refill, salsa, the bill). Windows very dirty. We were told the table was needed for the next group, so we left to take pictures outside. After 30 minutes, no group took our table. Spent ~$400 I'm embarrassed that I suggested this place for my lady friends. read more

Came here for brunch with my friends after making a reservation in advance (fyi they won't seat you unless everyone from your party is present). We wanted to go to this particular location since it's right by the water. Inside was really aesthetically pleasing. The bathroom was a vibe too; it kind of reminded me of a bathroom at a club, but daytime and family-friendly. Food: I ordered the Los Rancheros chilaquiles with sunny-side-up eggs since I had read about the chilaquiles online. Another friend ordered the flautas, which she liked. I thought the food was pretty good but wow was it expensive. My dish was $24; sure the portion was large but that's a pretty expensive dish for chilaquiles! My other friends ordered drinks too (Arroz con leche, Moliendo Cafe, Spritzer rosado). I tried all of them, and I thought the spritzer was the best by far; I enjoy drinks on the sweeter side. Service: Started off strong, but it really died by the end. No one checked on us at all after we received our food. 3 people ordered drinks, and 3 people only had water; they only brought out 3 glasses of water, so those with drinks only had their alcohol to sip on, which was strange. When I asked for a refill of my water, they only refilled my glass and ignored the other 2 empty glasses. Seemed very literal. Is this normal for this restaurant? By the end, I had to wave to get someone's attention for boxes and the check. It was a bit frustrating. Parking: Can be a bit tough during peak times, but there is a parking lot in the back. Overall, the food was pretty good, the drinks were ok, the prices weren't great, and the service was worse. Pros and cons all around, so it gets an average rating. San Diego's brunch competition is fierce, and unfortunately, this is not at the top of my list. read more

Loved this Coronado brunch spot, not only is the place aesthetically beautiful with a nice view of downtown but also the food is authentic Mexican flavor. I got the Quesadillas De Chilorio! 4 mini corn quesadillas filled with chilorio, served with pork beans and salsa trio with a Juguito de Naranja (orange juice). And my bestie ordered a brunch sampler favorite called El Patron, creamy chipotle chilaquiles with beans, eggs and cajeta french toast with a cafe de la olla. The chilaquiles are very traditional flavor and so many variety of salsas to choose from too which I liked! We sat at the bar since there was such a long line (yes, a LINE) to get a table. The view from the restaurant to the outside was beautiful with water views, sand, people. The places beautiful on the inside as well with flowers hanging from the ceilings and beautiful glass and colors everywhere, including the bathrooms. The servers/bartenders were attentive but not overly hovering. The cafe de la olla was unsweetened and they provided piloncillo (like brown sugar) liquid to add for some sweetness. My hubby and I shared a meal as I don't eat much and neither does he. The best was the chilaquiles and the tamale was so soft and yummy! There was a small line outside when we arrived, but they offered white umbrellas to help shade us from the sun while we waited, and I absolutely loved that. That kind of thoughtful touch is top-tier service to me. We stood there with our little umbrellas, and honestly, the line moved pretty fast. I ordered the make-your-own chilaquiles with creamy chipotle sauce and carnitas. The carnitas were super flavorful and really good. My only small complaint is that I wish there had been more of the creamy chipotle sauce because I wanted more of that flavor throughout the dish. I also ordered the mango drink, and that was delicious. My husband got the horchata, and he said it was a little on the sweeter side. The restaurant does have a lively atmosphere, and it can get noisy, but not so loud that you can't still have a conversation with the person you're with. There were a lot of birthday celebrations happening while we were there, which made the place feel fun and energetic. I even recorded a little so people can see what they do for birthdays. One thing I thought was really cute is that there was a lady with a cart offering pan dulce and Mexican hot chocolate. It's not included, but it's available as an add-on. We skipped it this time only because we had already ordered enough food and knew we were going to be full, but maybe next time. The view is gorgeous, and the restaurant itself is beautiful. I've been to other Cocina 35 locations, and I think this one might be my favorite just because of the view alone. We celebrated our daughter's 7th birthday at Cocina 35 and couldn't have picked a better spot! The place is so aesthetic with gorgeous flowers, vibrant décor, and a lovely view of the ocean and pier. It's alright. *sigh* I swear, every joint on this side of the island is decent at best, but still get slammed for business. This place is basically only open for brunch, but most of their chilaquiles don't come with egg by default. But you immediately have an option to add egg for $4. I feel like this is just a gimmick to make it seem slightly less pricy. The eggs....could be fluffier. The avocado is lazily in one giant log. The flavor of the pastor......it's okay. These chips are shaped more like Fritos, but the texture is not bad. They're not totally crispy and not totally soggy, which is good for this. Even plain coffee is $6, and I'm sitting here with an empty cup for like an eternity even though I'm literally sitting at the bar. I have to ask for more coffee as I'm asking for the check. We've only seen the long line at Cucina 35 in Liberty Station and wanted to try it. Being Mother's Day on Coronado Island it was a 2 hour wait for walk in so we got a seat at the bar easily. A Pros: Good drinks-a little light, French toast and beans were yummy. The bread was so good, I had a cajeta cookie. Flan was really good. I liked how many non alcoholic drinks they had for our DD. The decor, vibes and music was great. Cons: Service was not great and the reason I knocked off a star. They could not make any minor accommodations for adding two people-when we sat the table for two next to us was empty the whole time, we tried calling for days before and they never answer. I had to flag down our waiter for waters, a spoon, napkins, for a clean glass when the water cup was dirty, he never stopped to get us refills or place more drinks. I had to flag down for our dessert order. Bathroom was dirty, out of seat covers and the toilet paper wasn't in the holder taking up the purse hook, and water all over the sink. I was visiting my family in San Diego and my niece suggested this place for brunch. She made a reservation and so we didn't wait at all to be seated. The only thing they ask for is that your entire party be present to be seated, which I think is only fair. We were lucky enough to be seated next to a large window, so we had a beautiful view of the Bay. We ordered so much amazing food and drinks; Café de Olla, a Carajillo, the Margarita Sampler and several of us ordered El Tochomorocho, which consists of Chilaquiles, Beans, Huevos Rancheros and a grilled Sweet Tamale topped with Sour Cream and Cotija Cheese. Wow, wow, wow, is all I can say!! Wait, I forgot to mention the sweet lady with the Conchas and other Pan Dulce. Loved it all!! Love Cocina 35! I've been to multiple locations and this, like the others, didn't disappoint. This location in Coronado is my favorite one when thinking of the view because it's right next to the water. You can see downtown San Diego right when you walk out. Also because there's plenty of parking! I've been to this location many times (for bdays, ladies' brunch, etc) Love their selections. Their chilaquiles are amazing. The drinks as well! I especially love that they have a food display. I love seeing the options before ordering. The restaurant is so pretty. I just love the decor so much. Very picture worthy. On of the better & fanciest Chiliqules I've had, they have different kinds & their all pretty good. The food here looks & taste good, make sure to get a Agua Fresca or better known to the white people a Fruit Drink. Their drinks from fruit, to coffee & alcohol are good, pricey but good. It can get busy & you might wait awhile on weekends so come early to get good parking. Customer service is good, fast & you get a great view of outside, it's in a very nice area. It is casual wear but most of the customers are a bit fancy, you know the Raza or people that goes to Nordstroms not Ross haha but it's cool just don't go dress like you going to the SwapMeet you might not fit in, It is a nice place to go on a date or to take your parents. Now it is a bit pricey especially if you a big eater like me because portions ain't that big, they ok. But the food is good just wish portions were bigger. One of the most beautiful restaurants I've been too! Aesthetically stunning inside and the Coronado beach views is the icing on the cake. Had breakfast here the morning before going back home. Party of 6adults and 3kids. We arrived Monday morning just before 9am. There was no wait and was seated promptly. They had a beautiful display of the different dishes in a glass case and it all looked so delicious. I ordered El Tochomorocho with Al pastor and salsa verde, my husband had the quesadillitas de chilorio and I ordered my kids the mini pancakes for the kids menu. Food arrived in about 10-15mins. Everything was beautifully plated and so colorful. The masa was sweet and moist one of the best I've ever had. The al pastor was popping with flavor and the chips were crunchy. The beans had a smoked flavor to it a hint of spice and it was velvety smooth. The food was amazing!!! They did tell us there was a time limit of 1hr&30 or 45mins to dine in. They changed our server about 2 times. So there were times when they checked on us at appropriate times but there were also times where we waited and had to flag someone down for help. So towards the end we felt rushed when they kept taking plates off our table but once cleared we were waiting on someone to check us out. They are children friendly. Food was delicious imo and great portions. I would definitely return for brunch when we're back in town. read more

Finally had the chance to check out the newest Cocina 35 location in town. I've always been a fan of their chilaquiles. The chips are consistently crispy, and the flavor is reliably good. That said, I usually keep my expectations low when it comes to customer service, no matter the location. While most of the staff were friendly, the hostess didn't give the best first impression. Since she's the first person you encounter coming up to the restaurant. On the other hand, our waitress was really nice & helpful! As for the food, my La Bomba chilaquiles arrived at room temperature. We were seated under a draft, so the plate got cold quickly. The beef was very dry, although the overall flavor was still solid. When did they stop cutting their avocados? Instead of being sliced like usual, we were given a quarter piece. It's not a huge deal to cut it ourselves, but it felt strange, especially since the display plates still show nicely sliced avocado. We did find out they have buy one get one free chilaquiles on Tuesdays at all locations! read more

I really wanted my party to experience the pan and coffee cart, and have a view worth the price of food and pictures. We got our food, and drinks. They were good, flavorful and hot. We got my 2 littles pancakes, and one of them had a blonde hair in their pancakes found at the end of their meal. We're all dark haired. Told our server and she was annoyed my little still ate it. I ordered a cafe de olla, and they forgot it and didn't bring it until I was done with my meal. It happens, no biggie. But as we were eating, there were quite a few birthdays, and I got excited they would be doing it for us too. They didn't. Delicious food! I got the el patron which was everything I wanted. Savory with the meat (I added carnitas cause I needed protein), chilaquiles, some eggs, and beans. Then I got to enjoy a delicious French toast. The plate was absolutely cleared when I was finished. My friends enjoyed their chilaquiles also! The mango margarita was delicious with the tajín rim. The service was okay because we were a party of 6 but we got less than 6 waters, started off with not enough utensil sets, and I had asked for extra cilantro and onions but didn't get that till I asked 2 more times.
