Such a good time. Staff was great. Drinks was good. Overall a fun time for adults with great arcade games. Plenty of arcade games and I like the indoor and outdoor

Pretty cute vibe and friendly staff. Delicious and reasonably priced cocktails. It gives more of a club vibe than arcade bar. LOVED the music as well (I'm into EDM - mostly various house music genres and techno and the nights I went had a lot of this).

Cool little video game arcade and pinball spot that serves alcohol, why not? Place isn't luxurious or nothing fancy but this place reminds me of Melrose in California with their cool graffiti art design but this place doesn't really have much room or seated areas. Parking is horrible here so check out this place on the weekdays or non peak hours.

why is hi score happy hour gone smh.... got it 2 weeks ago.... fly high Anyways Cobra is still fun, plenty of diverse games to play (I still miss Terminator but love DDR and ninja turtles) and the workers were nice and gave us extra tokens when we ran out. good music after 9pm depending on who is DJ-ing (DJ Javin you have my full support)

An absolute neat bar to go to. We stumbled upon it while walking around downtown and I'm glad we did. The staff wasn't pushy and we were able to enjoy games (which they have some fun ones that operate well). The music and overall vibes were good. If you're looking for a unique place to have a few drinks and play some games rather than a regular bar than I recommend taking a visit to here!

Cool spot to come early and start a night out. Hang out, play retro video games, party shot specials. We got there early enough on a a Friday before the crowd came in so it was spacious, cool and chill. First time I've been there. I usually pass by at some point in the night and the crowd is crazy, line wraps around the building, so never stopped by. I'd come back.

Every time I go here the music is popping and the drinks are flowing. My birthday was no exception. Though the drinks are about $10 a pop, I enjoyed my birthday. They have a Mexican Candy shot which was pretty good and a purple concoction (sorry forgot the name). Everyone was friendly and the staff was speedy. DJ took requests and played it for free and almost instantly. Next door they have a place called Hi Fi that is low key but equally as as fun. Great people & drinks! If you get hungry there is a food truck right in front that is excellent! 10/10. Even the security is chill. Just FYI YES, they are gay friendly. Highly recommend both places!

Ask the Community - Cobra Arcade Bar

I have a bunch of tokens from the Tucson location. Am I able to use them here at the Phoenix location?

I don't see why not. You should call ahead and ask them that way you don't take a bunch of tokens and have to carry them around.

    Does this place have food?

No they don't. However you'll see food trucks near by and some other bars next door and on the block that serves fantastic food!

Is it pretty easy to socialize and meet people? What is the age range?

Not really, this place is constantly packed like a sardine can. Loud, nightclub style. Age range is 21-25ish.

    21+ or 18+?

    21 +

Is this place still open? I heard it was closing down.

As of 7/19 they are still open have not heard they are closing

If we were to come out on a Saturday afternoon to check out all your vintage games are we able to bring our 10 yr old son? We'd love to show him the games we liked as kids!?

I'm pretty sure you can as long as your son stays with you as they so sell alcohol there. My friend brought her kids BEFORE 6p. They also have events where they bring the video games outside. Check their facebook page for all events!

I'm new to the Tempe/Phoenix area. Is this place good for Adult birthdays? Do I need to make a reservation?

Hi Erin! Our spot was made for adult birthdays! We don't take reservations, it's first come first serve. We have an area with tables to make a home base for your group.…

How much does it cost to rent for birthday party/private event, before 4pm (opening hours)?

Hi Sam, Thank you for your interest in Cobra Arcade Bar. The minimum spend requirement to host an event prior to normal operating hours is $750 in drink and game play before tax and gratuity. Our event team is available to assist you with further…

Is the token machine cash only?

    Yes

What's the name of the taco truck you guys have outside? Do they have their own location? Those tacos were bomb!

The taco stand outside is Baja Roots. They don't have their own location but they are at Cobra several days a week every week. You can follow them on Instagram @bajarootsaz we LOVE them!

Is there a cover on the weekends?

Nope! Usually a long line, but it can move quick! Also, you have to purchase game tokens to play any of the games, but they have token machines 💁🏽

Conveniently located right off Grand Ave (US 60) in a little strip mall right in the heart of Surprise. Tons of ample parking for you and some of your closest friends! We were greeted immediately when we walked in. Contrary to what a few of the other reviews have said, you do ** NOT ** need to bring quarters with you. Obviously, you can. But it's not necessary. The nice gentleman running the place today gladly took our $20 bill and give us a few $5 bills back. From there, you can go to their change machine in the back, chuck in your $1 bills or $5 bills and it'll spit out quarters at you. Once you've got your pockets full of quarters, head over to one of the many machines and be prepared to be entertained! It's $1 per game. I know, but this ain't 1984 anymore so a dollar per game checks out. We blew through our $20 in a hair over an hour. It is incredibly clean inside! The machines functioned with no issues at all and I can't stress enough about how clean the machines (and everything) was here at Player 1! If you want to partake in some soda or alcohol, they can serve you up some refreshments while you've got your hands full with a pinball machine. Super fun way to spend a hot summertime afternoon here in Arizona. We will DEFINITELY be back. Such a cool place. Can't recall the last time I saw this many pinball machines lined up in a row. The rooms are hard to complete (at least for us lol) and some of the rooms required more physical ability. There are employees there to help you as requested, which helps if you get stuck on what you're supposed to do. The rooms are well put together, theme-wise, which adds to the experience of the challenges. There were a lot of people there, which meant a long waiting time. I feel as though we did more waiting than we did inside the rooms. Although, it didn't help that several rooms broke or weren't functioning correctly throughout the night. There's also a bar in the back where you can grab drinks and food, if you so choose. I would recommend waiting until after the experience since you have a 2 hour time limit. Overall, Bam Kazam is a unique activity to get a group of friends or family together for a night of fun and challenges! I would definitely go back again, but perhaps on a weekday or a time that would be less busy.

Now my buddy this man reaches into his pocket and pulls out what I can only describe as a historical artifact. I'm talking a doobie so big it looked like Bob Marley himself rolled it during a greatest hits tour. I said, "Absolutely not. I am a grown man. I got responsibilities. I got a mortgage. I got snacks at home I haven't even finished yet." That didn't matter. Next thing I know, windows are up, car turns into a Dutch oven of bad decisions, and now I'm just along for the ride literally and spiritually. Somewhere between "this is a bad idea" and "why is everything funny," I lost control of the evening. We pull into the park around that magical time you know, that in-between hour... not quite day, not quite night... like God dimmed the lights and said, "Alright boys, let's see what happens." The whole place is glowing neon lights, arcade buzz, roller coasters rattling in the distance. Felt like walking into a carnival dream... or maybe a fever dream. Jury's still out. Now here's the thing about this place it's been around since the late '70s, sitting right there in Phoenix like a desert time capsule of fun. You got four roller coasters, including the Desert Storm, which sounds fun until you're on it reconsidering every life choice that led you there. Then there's the Patriot wooden, loud, and about as gentle as a bar fight. And somehow... SOMEHOW... we thought tequila beforehand was a good idea. So now we're buzzed, slightly baked against our will, and wandering this park like three philosophers who lost their notes. We're laughing at everything. Nothing's funny but everything's hilarious. A trash can? Comedy gold. A churro? Best thing I've ever eaten in my life. A child running past me? I'm emotionally invested in his journey. But I'll give credit where it's due the park itself? Clean. Staff's friendly. Nobody's judging three grown men giggling like idiots. It's got that old-school charm too arcades, mini golf, rides, the whole deal. You can bring a family here... or whatever version of a situation we were. Now the rides... oh, the rides. Let me tell you something nothing will make you rediscover fear like being slightly out of your mind on a roller coaster you thought you could handle. I got scared... not once... not twice... but a few times. The kind of scared where you start making promises to God you don't intend to keep. "I'll be a better man if I survive this drop..." Didn't mean a word of it. By the end of the night, we had the munchies, the laughs, and just enough dignity left to get back to the car without needing a group meeting. For a couple hours, though? We were kids again. No responsibilities. No stress. Just lights, noise, and pure, ridiculous fun. So yeah Castles N' Coasters might be a family amusement park... but under the right or completely wrong circumstances, it turns into one hell of a story. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Just... maybe crack a window on the way there.
