Shrimp and grits
Stacy L.

We came for lunch. Was seated right away. Beautiful place. Staff very friendly and attentive. Wes is an awesome waiter! My shrimp and grits were amazing! So much flavor, probably the best I have ever had. He got the special which was the amberjack Oscar style. It was cooked perfectly. Very fresh. We had the fried apple pie for desert. He loved it. I thought it was ok. But apple is never my favorite. We will definitely go back when we are in town.

NEVER do I fail to eat here at least once a year when I visit and NEVER do they fail the impress the SHIT out of me. I feel a very passionate sexual connection between myself, and my plate every time. PLEASE eat here if you care at all about yourself as a human being. I mean this from the bottom of my soul. And get the damn bread pudding after. If you're still hungry or not. It's non negotiable my server was super cool too. Kyle. give Kyle a raise. Cobalt once a year until a fucking die

Fried crab fingers (appetizer)

Cobalt's is an amazing restaurant. We were seated quickly, and our server was prompt, friendly and attentive. We started with the crab finger appetizer, which was amazing to the palette. After, I ordered the Bronzed Grouper and my husband ordered the fried shrimp. The bronzed grouper was phenomenal and the fried shrimp tasted as if it had just come off the boat. We loved the light breading on the shrimp and again, both shrimp, grouper and crab fingers were amazing! The portioning was perfect for us and the prices extremely reasonable! Highly recommend eating at Cobalt's when in the area of Gulf Shores & Orange Beach!

Cobalt's is such a fun spot - and really indicative of the vibes in and around Orange Beach. The food is great, and the service is some of the best I've had in a long time! There's a huge free parking lot attached to the restaurant, which is always a perk worth calling out. A big heads-up that if you're looking for a quick dining experience, this isn't the place. Cobalt's doesn't take reservations, and you will wait at least an hour (but maybe closer to two hours like we did). However, there's a bar outdoors that you can grab drinks from while you wait, and the view of the bay is beautiful enough to keep you occupied for a long while. When we were finally seated inside, our server Tyler greeted us like we were long lost friends and shared all of the day's specials, along with several menu highlights. He made it clear to us that there was no wrong order, and after sampling a good bit of their menu, I have to agree with him. I also want to say that the great service we received from Tyler made up for the long wait just to get to our table ... and then some! I ordered the fresh catch of the day, which was swordfish. I opted to have it prepared grilled, and it was cooked perfectly and served with buttery green beans and a Cajun-inspired rice. Our group of seven tried a little bit of everything, and I'm not exaggerating when I say every bite was delicious. From the halibut special to the grouper to the steak to the tuna ... it was all extremely fresh and full of fun flavors. P.S. If you're a fan of oysters, these are some of the freshest I've had. Straight from the Gulf! Definitely worth tacking on a few to your meal.

Not good quality tuna at all. Unsure if it was on the verge of being old/bad/rotten or just not a good quality piece of fish.

The ambiance was great, great views of the bay outside. It was a large restaurant, with lots of movement and noise. The service was decent enough. Our waiter had a "I'm too good for you" attitude. The food was decent enough, nothing fantastic to write about. I will say that my tuna salad should not have been brought out to any table. The salad itself was good, but the tuna coloring was off. I did not eat the tuna, I just ate the salad surrounding. I did not send it back, although I should have alerted the waiter and kitchen staff. Everyone else seemed happy with their food. My daughter said her pizza was amazing. She laughed that the pizza was so good at a seafood restaurant. For the price of everything, our waiter should have been nicer or at least put on a happy face. The amount of times he rolled his eyes at the questions from our table was unreal.

Great waterfront location. Service was friendly. Great food choices. We ordered the shrimp appetizer similar to bang bang shrimp and it was very good, nice flavor. For dinner I ordered the pizza, and it is probably not the best choice at a waterfront seafood restaurant, but it was lacking in flavor and a little dry. Would love to go back and try something else.

Stopped in for just appetizers and a drink and just looking at others food we would come back. Looked delicious! We loved our Crab and Shrimp dip and great drinks looking over the water, boats. Very lovely and "music" which I always love! (On a Sunday too!) We had excellent service, quick, accommodating, very friendly and helpful. We got full quick so no dinner this time but we WILL BE BACK!

A really fun experience! The restaurant decor is fun, the food is tasty and the service was great! Really enjoyed the salmon dish, but will prob skip on the cheese dip next time. Will definitely return again!

Went with friends on a Monday night and it was packed. We waited at the outside bar for about an hour. We were seated a a perfect table on the water. Our servers were very friendly and attentive. Started with appetizers Colbat caviar and sautéed crab claws. Both were delicious!! I had a margarita pizza and added chicken recommended by the server. Awesome recommendation this was a really good pizza. My hubby had blackened red fish with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. It said it was very good. Our friends had the colbalt pizza and the other had the grouper which they said was also really good. We will definitely return when in the area !! Highly recommend but bring your patience.

Three of us lunched here at Colbalt, which is next to the Caribe Resort. The weather was perfect so we dined outside. A lovely patio area overlooking the bay. Flowers placed strategically around the area made for lovely ambiance. Watching the boats coming in and out was really special. We ordered the poke' tuna avocado stack with fried wonton between layers, topped with an eel sauce. I would order this again for my lunch! Fabulous! We all shared. The presentation was lovely. Britney was a wonderful and attentive server. We took the rest of the family to Cobalt the next night for dinner. Everyone loved it all! Enjoyed the live music!

My advice, find a seat, have someone order at the order window, then head to the bar to order drinks. The wait to order food took about a half hour. It was very quick to get our drinks. We were able to snag a couch area on a platform. It was so comfy and we loved the views. A heads up- if you snag a couch like this, kids will get up on the platform and jump off of it. People will step up on the platform and walk extremely close to you. I had to ask a kid to stop throwing sand by us because we were eating our dinner. It was a little chaotic. We were extremely patient and understand, but I could see some people being very upset and annoyed. After ordering, our food came out pretty quick. I started with the coconut grouper bites and they were phenomenal. Light breading, lightly sweat, and flaky. I had the Gulf Grilled Cobia and it was phenomenal. The fish was tender, flaky, and light. No fishiness at all. The sauce on the fish was also delightful. My husband and son had the fajita skewers and both enjoyed them. My husband also had the peel and eat shrimp and said they were amazing at The Gulf. Our drinks were okay. We had better drinks at other places during the week, but they weren't bad. We would return, but try to come on an off-time that wasn't so busy.

Our meals came with fries and the fries tasted like they were cooked two hours ago in old frying oil. Then, we ordered drinks, I got a margarita and it tasted super weird like they put a bunch of club soda in it?? So yeah the environment was nice but if you go I wouldn't order anything. There's another restaurant across the street Cobalt that we went to the night before and their food was amazing! The food quality was way higher and the prices were great!

It's the food folks go there for. The oysters were fresh and served in a simple appealing way. The fish was white and firm and delicious. The grilled shrimp they are famous for do not have a savory flavor, tastes more like they were grilled with honey on them. We were not expecting that at all. We did not like the 30 dollars worth of sweet shrimp. It does come in very generous portion if you like that type of flavor. Hush puppies were pretty darn good, light, nicely seasoned with good flavor. The Cole slaw was excellent. All portions were generous. Overall they are friendly, the service is personable and efficient! Ambiance is that of a local diner style, not fancy just comfortable. We liked everything but the sweet grilled shrimp. We are from the north and maybe it is just a southern style we aren't familiar with or used to consuming. The gumbo is pretty good too. They have great mixed drinks and they have one that is a salted caramel flavor that is really excellent. Overall: would highly recommend for a good meal and friendly service. Probably the best place we ate in the Orange Beach area.
