Love coming here at this location each time I come to the beach. Food is always great !!! There is indoor and outdoor seating. The service and employees are always friendly, however wait times can vary based of how busy they are. There are many varieties to choose from on their menu for seafood. First off, water was terrible. Tasted like they dunked a cup in the ocean and put some ice in it. Although the mac and cheese bites in The Trio was good that was about it. I got the steamed shrimp platter and it was TERRIBLE. No flavor, no spice, and was so overcooked. Do not recommend!! read more

We received a recommendation from several locals to check out this place (on Perdido Beach) as superior to other locations. And while we didn't try the other places, this was awesome. I discovered I love shrimp and grits! Or at least their S&G. Service was good - food was delivered quickly and piping hot and they did a great job keeping our drinks filled. We sat outside, which was a bit warm but we enjoyed it over the inside, which seemed a bit crowded and chilly. I know I ate more - but my fond memories of the shrimp and grits have really stayed with me - so much so that we're coming back the next time we come back to Alabama's Gold Coast. read more

The Shrimp Basket is always a great place to stop, when wanting a quick meal. Our food was hot and fresh, as well as comparable for the price. We got to the restaurant last night at 8:00 and placed our order at 8:10 after waiting 10 minutes for someone to come by and get our drinks. We then waited and waited for 20 minutes, then 30, then 40, then 50 minutes went by and we asked for a manager. The restaurant was not busy at all, yet our waitress rarely ever came around. She never gave us updates on our order, barely asked if we needed anything, and was not sympathetic at all. The manager had no excuse for why it was taking long but after waiting for then an hour and 10 minutes we got our food. The food was cold, tasted terrible, and now 2 of my family members have food poisoning. I would not recommend coming here!! read more

Literally the worst place we ate on vacation. Half the food wasn't edible and just gross. We were seated immediately and ordered immediately. It took almost two hours to receive the food. I usually keep my mouth shut if I had a bad experience at a restaurant but we seemed to be singled out with our waitress being rude to us. We were very nice and had simple orders, appetizers were brought to other tables who arrived after us but ours came with our meals. One of us ordered a Coke and never got it but never saw the waitress again until it was too late to try to get it. When she brought our checks we told her we never got it (because she was charged for it) and the waitress gave an awful look and was checking the table for it (I guess thought we were lying??) then walked off. Just an overall rude waitress but didn't seem to hate the other 2 tables by us. We were nice the whole time anyways but won't be returning. read more

Made it in for dinner after a day on the beach and family photos (also on Orange Beach, AL). My dinner was Fried shrimp & French fries, corn fritter, and hush puppies (I had fried okra instead of the pictured cole slaw, but didn't get a picture as I went straight to eating as soon as it was served, so this is a restaurant photo). The shrimp & fries, hush puppies and corn fritter were all very tasty, and the service was great as well. The shrimp batter was crispy (not overdone), very flavorful, and the same goes for the fries, hush puppies and corn fritter. Let me start with the positive. The food and drinks are good not great and the atmosphere is fun here. For the negative our server who was new and only been doing this for 3 weeks. She really did do as good as she could and was trying hard. Bless her soul lol. Our food was all mixed up among our table. My wife got Cajun when she wanted blackened. Late March Spring Break visit to Shrimp Basket with a 6:30 pm arrival. Seated after a 20 minute wait for an outside table. Server promptly took our drink order. We ordered a dozen oysters (.79 oyster night); ordered main course 5-10 minutes later. At this point the reason for my 3 star review presented itself....the food took a long time to arrive - approximately 40-45 minutes. We were prepared to leave about 35 minutes in but were told our food would be out very soon...which was true. Spoke to the manager and she was very professional and apologetic. She stated they had just gotten swamped and were trying to catch up. We recommended that they seat less tables until they caught up and she stated she "wasn't allowed to do that." The food was pretty good...6.5/10. Recommend going here off peak times. read more

We asked to sit in the mostly vacant patio with our dog, this seemed to absolutely perplex the hostess. She was rude and huffy about it. We should have left at that exact moment. But we were hungry and desperate, this places ideal customer. We ordered oysters, one was rancid. We ordered cocktails, heavily watered down. Basically high c fruit juice with a quarter shot of booze. Our waitress was very pleasant and polite. However, while waiting for the check I did spot her inside playing on what appeared to be a tablet. The crab cluster was decent. The Cajun pasta was barely edible. Wow! First off, while I was waiting Tony gave exceptional service at the bar. Time flew by with a full beer. Once I was seated Rhi gave amazing service. She was very nice and attentive when I needed refills. The food was delicious. I came on Tuesday so it was a great night for half priced oysters. Went for a late lunch to take advantage of the $.79 oyster special they run every Tuesday. Also didn't know it was happy hour as well. See my pix to familiarize yourself with their offerings. We ordered two dozen oysters and although they were cold and briny they were very small so you get what you pay for I guess. We split a $22 seafood basket with four different seafoods in it and it was just so so. Had a Blue Moon for $4.50 and a $3 HH margarita. Service was standard and friendly. Everything adds up to a rating of 3 for us which means a-ok. They also have some AYCE specials through March. read more

Our family ate there several times during our two week vacation in Orange Beach. Even when it was very busy, we were seated quickly and our orders came out quickly and always very hot. I Particularly enjoyed the seafood gumbo and my husband liked the shrimp étouffée. And of course I have to put in a good word for their Bushwacker drink. The bartender recommended a peanut butter floater for the top which as they say, took it to a whole new level. We kept going back because the food and the people were both great!! They clearly are not aiming for repeat customers. We waited nearly an hour for food and saw multiple customers seated, order and food delivered after we ordered our food. After we asked about our food, several others served then they told us our order was marked as completed. They didn't apologize or do anything to make up for it. Awesome place. First, it was 6:30ish when I got there. So the busiest time. That said, the wait staff was doing the best they could so I can't really complain. The food and atmosphere is cool. Arrived late in Orange Beach, Alabama, after traveling all day. Hungry and not at all familiar with the area. The hostess at the front desk of our hotel recommended The Shrimp Basket for a quick seafood type meal. "But do they sell adult beverages?" was my only question. They do...lol. My wife and I each had their own signature draft beer, the Shrimp Basket Pale Ale. Very tasty and very cold, we decided to "try" two. The food was good. We were very impressed with our choices. My wife had the Gumbo, and I enjoyed the Boom Boom Shrimp Tacos. And they had tons of other options on the menu... boils, fish, burgers, etc. We were impressed. Our waitress was awesome! Very friendly and even sharing pictures of some cool things to see in the area. And the best part, we showed up 10 minutes before closing, and the entire staff was still friendly and helpful. We apologized for postponing their closing rituals, and they assured us we were OK. Can't say enough about the staff. Not sure if we will be back in Orange Beach in the future or if we will ever visit another Shrimp Basket (apparently there's more of them?), but it was a great visit. Definitely recommend. read more
