Had a great experience many years ago when Coastal came and replaced the windows around half my 2-story house and also the custom sliding doors on the lanai (job was more than $30K). Needed to get the screens on the sliding doors replaced. Called in late December 2020 and was told that the earliest appointment I could get was February 2021!!!!! Okay, fair enough - scheduled the service crew and they showed up on time on February 8th - they were both were masked, personable, professional and determined they could not make the repair as the screen frames were totally corroded from salt air and recommended they be rebuilt before new pet screen was installed. Indicated they would return to the shop, get the order in the work queue and somebody would call me back about rescheduling the work. They did complete a replacement of a bathroom screen upstairs but it was not done correctly and I didn't notice until they had left the site as I work from home and was on calls. The screen replacement was baggy, loose, crooked and the corners were not secured. (see notes below) No call for more than 3 weeks - nothing, nada, zippo even though I had placed numerous calls and spoken with manager (Joanna) and Sandy (scheduler) and Bridgett (service). Everybody was very polite and nice when I called back on numerous occasions, but completely disengaged from the issue, saying nicely that they had talked with people but no response or timeline, returning calls, or communicating. I should not be chasing around after the Coastal staff to get basic scheduling and information in a timely manner. On February 27th, I finally had a conversation (rant and explanation) with Joanna regarding my frustrations with the project and asked again what the delay was, why there was ZERO communication and when my screens would be replaced (now been waiting 3 months!!). The service shop manager (Ronald) was finally brought into the picture and a date of March 17th was scheduled for the screen installation. I have received no explanation of the disconnect in communications between the service crew, who were great, and the shop who needed to make the screen frames - 4 frames, nothing complicated....ZERO. Note that it took the shop more than 2 weeks to assemble 4 simple frames - not install the screens, just build 4 frames - screen installation was done on site at the house....and ZERO communication. The on site crew was scheduled to start work at 10:00 a.m. on March 17th. I finally called Coastal at 10:45 and spoke with somebody and inquired where the crew was and why no explanation of the delay for service (crappy communications you guys!!!) - The crew showed up at 11:00 and did a good job with the screens, efficient installation and professional work. I had to request they redo the screen replacement on a bathroom window because of the earlier install issues, which they did well, quickly and efficiently. I received a call from Joanna the day after the job was completed and she indicated I could pay by bill over the phone with a credit card - I indicated I wanted to see an itemized bill before I paid anything. Hearing nothing more, I checked back to see where the invoice was and Joanna indicated it had been mailed out. Received the invoice at my home on March 26th (7 days after the job was completed, which was reasonable), and upon review, I realized I was double billed for the bathroom window screen replacement. I called and spoke with Joanna and asked for a revised invoice, which she indicated would be issued after she spoke with Ronald, the assembly department manger. Waiting to see what the revised invoice looks like. It's not the amount of money - it's the principle and a further indication to me of how poorly and inefficiently the operations at Coastal are impacted through poor and non-existent communications both internal and external to the company. The company makes a really good product and I have had extremely good results with the windows and doors since installation - but frankly you folks need an overhaul for folks and a reminder about how important communications and timely follow up with customers really is. As I explained to Joanna at one point on the phone, as well as the others I spoke with, the impression I have of the company is pretty crappy at this point - the lack of communication both internal and external, the LOUSY customer service and the general lax attitude makes me question whether I'll be considering Coastal when I complete the replacement of the other windows for half my house in the future. For a company i felt really positive about when my replacement windows and doors were installed, I have to say, at this point, I'm not feeling the aloha. I'd be most appreciative of a written response from the company owner, Mr. Robert Barrett and a explanation of if and how he intends to relay and remind his good staff about the importance of communications and customer service. read more

I have been a customer of Coastal Windows since 2008, and they have never let me down. High quality products and workmanship which they stand behind. They are at their appointments (as promised) and their staff is terrific. They even clean up after themselves. My sales representative is Catherine, she is awesome. Responsive and I trust her to give me great value and service for my money. I have called them for repairs and service as well as replacements, and each experience has been TERRIFIC. We installed Coastal windows in our home replacing old jalousie windows 2 about years ago. Coastal windows did the installation. The recent wind and rain in Hawaii this past week prompted a leak in one of our new windows. The sealant deteriorated (not done well to begin with) which allowed a ton of water to leak into the bedroom damaging our new wood shutter casing and bed. It's the worst feeling to have water coming into your home and not being able to anything about it. Buyers beware: Coastal windows has a great warranty for the windows but the installation not so good. And it's just as or more important! Also, you won't really know how your windows will hold up unless there is a really crazy wind/rain day which may not happen for a few years after you install it. We installed Coastal windows so we'd have better rain and wind protection, however due to the deteriorated sealant...the new window failed miserably. Ironically, our old jalousie windows held up better and never leaked like this. Coastal windows sent someone over who confirmed that the area of the window that leaked was due to deteriorated sealant and he resealed the area. We talked to Clint at Coastal windows and he said that damages related to the leak would not be covered which was disappointing since anyone would expect new window installation to be done well, sealed well and would last more than a few years. This is the first time that I have ever given a one star rating on yelp but customers should know about this issue before they spend thousands of dollars on new Coastal Windows thinking they are protecting their home. read more

Nice windows with pretty cool features, but don't get lulled by the limited lifetime warranty, because it's really limited. To add insult to injury, they don't have reps on all the islands. So, if you live on a neighboring island & need service, they charge you for their airfare. So, what would normally be a cheap fix could run you into the hundreds. While the main frames & glass hold up, many of the working pieces break/corrode within a few years and make them unusable (have to keep them shut until they're fixed). It's a huge bummer. I don't really see the advantage over Other top brands. Yes, they may be better, but I can replace my other brand in 10 years and still have it cost less. I highly recommend against this brand if you don't live on Oahu. It's really not worth the added hassle and expense. Imagine a month or so waiting for them even to come take a look. Then god forbid they didn't bring a part, because then you're waiting another month. If I lived on Oahu and had money burning a hole in my pocket, these are the way to go.Front desk staff is super friendly. Product in when promised and work done when promised - AMAZING FOR HAWAII!!!!! Al - the contractor we used from Coastal and his team are amazing. We had a wall knocked down and re-installed with a glass pocket slider. He has great attention to detail and made sure everything was done with quality and attention to detail. He even helped to make sure that all of our outside texture and wood matched up with our original from 1995!!! So happy - my family loves the way it turned out. They cant measure window sizes them self to build. They can come to your home get a rough measurement to give a estimate, but they will need a second opinion on measurements to build there windows. Get it right and learn to read a ruler read more

Would have given 5 stars because quality of product is awesome, but stopped short because customer service at all levels is very poor. This is a big shame because of cost of product. They are not cheap. Not sure if they are understaffed or what but this company is not the most responsive given cost charged. Still waiting for someone to call me back for a repair. Very disappointing. Bought a sliding door on recommendation of installer, and I think the installer must have been getting kickbacks. We previously bought 2 Pella doors through Lowes, dual glazing, UV protection, stainless hardware, the works, and loved them, but installer said Coastal was better. We paid more ($1800 vs $1500) for a smaller bottom of the line Coastal door (single glaze, no UV, basic plastic hardware), and every aspect of it feels cheap. The screen racks and is flimsy, comes off the track almost every time I open it. To get the comparable features at Coastal that we had in the Pellas would have cost well over $3000. And delivery time was just as long with Coastal as the Pellas. Bottom line--go to Home Depot or Lowes, negotiate for a discount (they'll almost always give one, and they price-match each other or just ask when their next special-order sale is), and go with a quality Pella. Then you won't be disappointed, like me. read more

We were told that Coastal could get planning permission for our conservatory. We asked how much it would cost us if they were not successful and were told a maximum of £200. When they did not succeed they charged us £1,150 which included £347 for their sales visit and £250 for administration - they refused to even discuss the matter as they considered the matter closed. And this after having a Porch built with them and all our windows and doors replaced with them. We would never use this company again read more
