After I posted my review they called me 3 hours later to set up my installation. The installers were great every time they came n cleaned up really well. They even apologized to me this last time but it was the sales department that never followed up with my complaints for 2 years! This was unacceptable because my whole house was repainted except the wall with the unfinished windows for 1 year. Price was great but it wasn't worth the aggravation. read more

I did a lot of research in finding the right company for our needs and Mario impressed us right off the bat. He brought the showroom to US and spent a lot of time in answering all our questions and asking about our concerns. It took about 7 months for our custom windows and door to land in Honolulu. The install crew: JP, Koa, and Jonah were awesome. They came on time each day and stayed focused the whole time. I could tell this wasn't their first rodeo and they had their system down pat. All the windows were changed out on day one. They did the sliding door and all finishing, patched holes, and made sure every single window was perfect before they left. They finished our whole house in two days. JP noticed one of the glass panes had issues so he put it an order for a new one to replace it. JP walked me through the functionality of every window and door each day and made sure I understood how all the moving parts worked. What impressed me the most was the work they did on our kitchen window. The sill was rusted bad and they fixed it up. I've had to live with these old windows since 2003 and I'm so glad they're finally changed and TRIPLE SECURE. The best part about the new windows is the sound barrier. We are so happy with the windows and sliding doors. Because of pandemic, it took a long time before the installation but it's great to have nice secure windows. Big noise reduction!! So surprised. Also our house is a lot cooler. The coating on the window makes big difference. House we bought had old jalousie windows and most of them weren't working (can't open) and sliding doors off tracks a lot and few wheels (?) were broken. So we decided to change all windows and sliding doors. We had estimate and explanation of the windows. The guy even brought sample window parts to show and explain. Looked very sturdy and we liked that it has coating to cut UV-rays. It took about 6month to get it because it's made in mainland and because of pandemic. Very very long wait but no one can do anything about pandemic so only thing we could do was wait. Installation took 3 days for our 2 story house to replace all windows and 2 sliding doors. Installers were fully vaccinated and they were good. Not perfect but good. After installing they vacuum, swept, and spot clean the carpet if there was stain. They were late few times but worked non-stop while installing so overall they were good. Customer service was good too. There was a minor problem after installing but someone came over and fixed it. It took few weeks for the person to come over but everything is good now so we are happy. read more

Mario replied to our request to evaluate our window replacement, and when he looked at the windows, he pointed out the window manufacturer provided a lifetime warrantee, something we did not know. He could have easily said we needed to replace the windows, but he did the honorable thing and referred us to the original manufacturer to replace. Much appreciated for the cost-savings Mario provided, and when we do need to replace windows, we will use Windows Hawaii. read more

Had a sliding door screen picked up and was told it would take about 4 days to change out the screen. 2 weeks later on a Tuesday I follow up and was told it would be done by end of week. Another week goes by and I follow up again. Finally got the screen back after 4 weeks. The screen looks great. I'm unhappy with having to follow up which is poor customer service. read more

I had my mom's house done years ago, ( as you can see in the review below). they did an excellent job however they had cracked the wall during installation but fixed it to perfection! Therefore, I decided to use them again.. Had my daughter's house done. This time it was horrible....... Workers seemed rushed on the last day especially since they didn't work a full day on the previous days.. There was 3 windows that were not completely caulked and finished, there was 2 cracked windows, trim on every single window was sloppy, the sliding of most windows was not smooth due to the drilling of the holes which fell on the upper portion of the track, there was yellow foam on our personal stuff outside which we had to scrub off, there was clear silicone left on windows, and there was shavings all left in the tracks and on our carpet, there was so much screws and small plastic knob things left all in our yard. They butchered the house! It was a mess! I was so devastated and in shock. Kirk came over to inspect and he also agreed that it was butchered... They are now replacing 2 cracked windows, installing the wrong sized window which later we discover it's not the wrong size!!, replace trim in EVERY single window, Re-caulk sloppy windows , clean up the leftover foam, replace the alarms back on since we had them re installed !! Also remove all the silicone that was left on windows, and try and fix the sliding on most of the sliding windows! All scheduled on Nov 1.. which I had to take off. It's a real shame because Mario and Kirk are so easy to work with and take pride in their company.. I'm sooo upset and unhappy with these new windows which were soooo expensive!!! And so the saga of our home renovation continues. The biggest project to date are the windows. They aren't cheap, in fact, they're very expensive, for a good reason. Windows, like your roof, protect your house from the heat and rain. Those are two areas I believe you don't skimp on. Having good quality windows, not the ones from the big box retailers, are the only way to go. Double, gas filled glass and top quality hardware for your windows will protect your most expensive investment, your home. The gas in the windows also deflects and protects your house from harmful UV rays and heat. It's also much quieter. But if you decide on replacing your windows, make sure you give Windows Hawaii a call. That said, just be prepared to wait. With the ongoing supply chain issue affecting many businesses, it will likely be a long time. Thus, even the factory is behind schedule. We waited almost nine months for ours, but it was well worth the wait. Once you have a schedule, it goes pretty fast. First of all, you would call for an estimate. We got Palani as our point of contact and estimator. He came out and spent a couple hours going over all the details, answering any questions we had, showed us some samples of the glass and did the initial measurements. He also gave us a price on the spot. So we decided to go with Windows Hawaii after getting other estimates, not because they were the cheapest, because they weren't, but because of the impression we got from day one. After deciding to give the go ahead, the next person who came out was Kurt, he will do the final measurements before the actual order goes in. After that, you just sit tight and wait till your windows come in. Once they arrive on island, you will be contacted to schedule an install date. We were assigned an installation date and were told to expect at least four days for completion. It actually took five days. We got Jhenre and his crew, Nate and Ralph. These guys worked really hard and they also are very conscientious of their craft and were very respectful of us. I liked that, we had a really good working relationship with them and they were more than happy to answer the many questions we had. It can get pretty nerve wracking to see huge holes in your walls!! They were also very neat and clean! I went outside in the yard one day after they had finished for the day and they were actually dragging a big magnet over my lawn to make sure all nails and screws were picked up. I've never had ANY contractor do that before. They also vacuumed the grass of as much sawdust as they could. Very impressive. Our wooden floors were always covered before they started every morning and vacuumed at the end of the day. I was also impressed by their delivery and waste removal on a daily basis. Jordan picked up the previous day's waste every morning and dropped off whatever components the crew needed for that day. I never had to deal with a big pile of waste sitting out front and that made me really happy. On the last day, which happened to be a Sunday, they stayed late to make sure everything was completed and we were satisfied with the job, now that is dedication! We were so satisfied that we had Palani come out the next week to get phase 2 of the window replacement started. It is a smaller phase, but I have complete trust in it being done right and in a timely manner. Also, I'd like to thank Amanda in the office who coordinated with me on the construction schedule and for being the point of contact there. BTW, I also requested that Jhenre and his crew be scheduled to do phase 2, and I'd even wait for them exclusively if they are busy at another install. Went with their top of the line Ali'i extreme because of the features and the warranty. I enjoyed my experience with the sales rep and the install coordinator. Both were polite, punctual and willing to answer all my questions. The install team finished last week and their work was outstanding. These were 50 year old originals being replaced and we had modified the exterior and interior around them. The crew was very careful with the install and came up with a trim solution that was simple yet looks great! We finally finished our whole house window renovation and the Windows Hawaii team was such a big help in helping us accomplish this task. We did a mixture of double hung and sliders through out the house with a total of 17 windows, a security door, and a sliding door for our patio. Mario and his team did a wonderful and beautiful job. Bye jalousie windows! We are very happy with our new sliding ones! We discussed new windows when we bought our house last year, but needed to get other big projects done first. The jalousies were alright until winter came and we noticed that tiny flies managed to make their way into our house even with the windows "shut". As a temporary fix, we installed insulating shrink film to keep the bugs out and AC in. Another reason why we needed to change our windows was sound. My family is noisy - we're all night owls, our kids can get loud 'cause they're kids and when my husband games, he puts his headphones on and doesn't realize how loud he is. Omg, I have to constantly scold him for yelling through the wee hours of the morning. Embarrassing because our neighborhood is quiet and I know our neighbors can hear him playing. Black-out curtains and acoustic panels on the wall only dampen the sound so much. In March, we finally decided it was time to get 'er done so my husband called Windows Hawaii to request an estimate and Mario came within the same week. We decided to use them for our window project based on the product, service and warranty that they offered. Kurt came about a week after contract was signed to confirm the measurements before placing the order for our windows. He kept his face mask on the whole time, was very friendly & answered all of our many questions. Fast fwd to installation day, David and his crew (Chris & David) showed up on time with masks on. They kept us informed on the tasks that would be done for the day. They were professional, worked fast & efficiently (I don't think they took lunch breaks) and they did quality work. We no longer have to deal with bugs getting in, our house is much cooler at 74°, the external noise has been reduced significantly and hopefully our neighbors can't tell how loud we're being. We loved what they did with the build-up wall and windows that replaced our non-functioning sliding glass doors. After the job was done, a ladder was left behind along with some of our old parts, but we found out later that they have a separate team that picks up equipment & rubbish. I contacted three window companies and a Windows Hawaii rep got back to me within a half hour. They made arrangements to come and give us an estimate at our convenience. June showed up to take measurements and said she would send me an estimate within a few days. She showed me all the options available to me with picture brochures. I told her we were on a tight budget. She was very friendly and knowledgeable. As promised I received my estimates. I was so surprised that she offered us a discount because she stated that there may be as much as a 6 month delay ( because of shipping and supply shortages). On May 11, 2020 Windows Hawaii came to start installing 17 replacement windows that I had ordered. The job took five days. David and his crew were very efficient, personable and professional. They arrived when they said they would and cleaned up before leaving at the end of the day. When the job was completed, they informed us that two of screens had small tears in them. They promptly scheduled someone to come out and repair the screens by the next workday. The new windows look beautiful and are a big improvement over our old windows. Although they are not the cheapest windows that we got estimates on, I chose them because I felt the quality and warranty was better. This is our 2nd time using Windows Hawaii. These windows are not inexpensive, but are worth every penny for the quality of the product and the customer service we have received from Mario, Kurt (who I called a lot during our installation and was very responsive), the installation crew who completed the install quickly and efficiently; and Travis, their service tech who has come out to replace some screens from our previous install and just left after replacing one our new windows that got damaged during shipping. Mario came to visit and convinced us, especially my skeptical wife that replacing our existing jalousies with Alii Extreme windows throughout our townhouse would work best for us. Kurt then visited to do all measurements for windows, sliding doors and front entrance door (yes, WH does steel doors too!). The installation crew of Jhenre, Ralph and Nathan arrived and they worked courteously and quickly to remove all old hardware and installed the beautiful new windows, patio doors and steel entrance door. The work areas were left clean when they were done each day. After completion, Jhenre also ensured that we understood the operations of all products and noted any deficiencies that needed to be addressed by the service personnel. To our surprise at a later date Jhenre and Nathan returned to attend to any concerns we brought up, definitely a dual purpose crew. After a month living with installations, we do notice a big reduction in noise (we live on a busy street) and heat (several windows including the patio doors face the hot afternoon sun). Looks like they have a lot of bad reviews from a few years ago, our recent experience was quite good! We ordered custom ali'i extreme windows for the whole house and could not be happier. Seriously, I am in love with our windows, I stare at them everyday and some times i even talk to them to tell them they're doing a great job. Anyway, they made our home look beautiful, block out the noise as advertised, and of course the heat and UV reflection is just ridiculous. They're so effective at reflecting heat and keeping the cool A/C air in I couldn't imagine having a different kind of window in hawaii. So that's the product review, if you're thinking about the ali'i extreme and concerned about the price, don't be, it's worth it. As far as service we had no major issues. Communication back and forth was good, the employee that sold us the windows was professional and courteous, and the wait time (though very long) was almost on time. We had our installation scheduled when the big hurricane was supposed to hit so it delayed installation by a couple weeks... can't blame the business for that. It wasn't a perfect process but overall we're very happy with everything, especially the product. read more

Product is great. Everyone was nice. The problem was that they left with the job being what I felt was incomplete. I was told that the job would probably take more than a day. By 2:00 pm the first day, they were finished. I was told that it's because they don't take a lunch break and they work fast. I'm fine with that, but after they left I noticed a lot of bare holes in the wood window frames making it ideal for termites to make a home. They should have filled in the holes before they left. See photos below of holes left and number of holes I had to patch. Also supplies that the crew left at the house. Item is long so won't fit in the trash gin. Just the facts... 07/27/19- Mario (GM) came to our home to do a free estimate on windows. He GUARANTEED us windows will be done and installed 16-18 weeks from received deposit, roughly around Thanksgiving. 08/02/19- Deposit was given to company for $9K. 08/16/19- Deposit cashed by WH. 11/22/19 (16 weeks out)- Called for ETA. Spoke with a women who stated "won't be done till end of December". 12/10/19 (18 weeks out)- My husband called and requested to speak with Mario (GM) directly to find out status of of the windows. No answer and left voice message for Mario. 12/11/19- 2nd attempt to call Mario (GM). My husband left another voice mail to inquire about the status. 12/11/19- Mario called my husband back. Explained that the factory messed up on orders and our order was one of many orders that was included in that mess. He stated that the windows would be here around the 01/02/20 and he would call us to set up for installation in the middle of January. Husband requested discount. 01/23/20- Still have not received a call. Windows still not installed. 01/28/20- Received message from marketing director from corporate in CA acknowledging the mishap. Received call from Amanda at WH to schedule window installation for 02/10/20 and would take 2 days. 02/10/20- Installers arrived at 8am. Windows missing requested grid patterns and one window measured incorrectly, so window does not fit and cannot be installed as of today. Invoice for remaining balance was not discounted as agreed. Called Mario (GM), left voice message at 10am. 02/11/20- Installers arrived at 8am and finished around 12:30pm. Discounted balanced was agreed upon with GM and paid. Overall experience: Installation techs/process was professional, timely and smooth, with the exception that the half the window products were incorrect or missing. The windows that were installed look clean, but I have an overall feeling of a "missed opportunity" to give the exterior of my new home some style. And WHEN will I see that missing window for my half completed living? I don't know and I'm too frustrated with the company to care. As business owners ourselves, we believe a manager's word is the foundation of his work. Windows are a HUGE investment with big bucks. We are disappointed in their process. EDIT 2/3/18: my Coastal Windows review is up! 3 stars because Mario was overall friendly during the sales process for a total windows and sliding doors replacement throughout my house. However he gave me a quote that was several thousand dollars more than a competitor that does the same kind of installation. I think it's to cover windows Hawaii's large advertising budget, although he tried his best to convince me that the quality of their windows were a lot better than that of a cheaper competitor. As far as I know from the learning process I underwent while getting quotes from multiple companies, there are two ways to install windows in Hawaii - retrofit and new construction. New construction method is more labor intensive and takes a little longer to do than retrofit (google both methods if you want to learn more). Windows Hawaii, diamond head windows and (I think) CCI go the retrofit route by default. Coastal windows is the only window installation company that I know of that does new construction on all of their installed windows. Hence, coastal will probably be the most expensive out of the 4 companies mentioned above because of increased labor costs. Also, I think all major window companies in Hawaii source their glass from the same glass company on the mainland. Just throwing food for thought out there so the reader can make an informed decision on what they want out of their windows and the company they work with, especially since windows (and sliding doors!!!) are soooo expensive. I did find Mario to be a nice guy, it's just that their overall product is just not quite what I was looking for for my house from a cost/benefit standpoint. read more
