I contracted Screens and Things to replace the screens around the house. Everyone that I dealt with was polite, friendly and professional. After signing the contract, remitting payment and getting the windows measured, a friend of mine told me to cancel, insisted that he could do the job, so I canceled, which they did without complaint, telling me that they would refund my payment. The next day, they called to offer to fabricate the screens for the project to save my friend time and told me to ask him and get back to them. After a couple of days, I realized that my friend was not going to follow through, so I called Screens and Things back to ask if they could do the job, and they cheerfully reinstated the contract and completed the job. A few months after installation of my new screen door my 40lb dog went charging as fast as she could to get inside from the backyard and she smashed straight into the screen! I had my security screen door replaced this past Wednesday. I selected the Kawili style door. I believe you get what you pay for. It's a little more costly but it's worth it. I had been in contact with another screen maker (Holo Holo) who gave me a quote back in July. I wanted next steps but never got them. Tried calling and never got through, then would get a text asking to communicate that way. When that hit a dead end, I ended up forgetting completely. Started conversations on text again, and again got the same run-around with dead end and no follow-up reply. I finally gave up on Holo Holo and tried getting quotes elsewhere for my custom 55" x 48" & 55" x 58" windows. Only one other place seemed up to the task. I went to their location and they sent me away with samples to put by my window to assure the frame would fit in the channel. I immediately called back with the frame that worked best, I got a work order emailed with all the details, I responded with my approval, made my deposit over the phone, and I was given a 4-5 day turn around time. I got a call 2 business days later. I went to pick up the screens and placed them immediately on my windows. Fit perfectly! One thing I must note, I measured myself several times to assure accuracy, so all I did was provide measurements to Screens & Things. They did great getting the measurements perfect. They could have sent someone at no charge to take the measurements but I was in a hurry. They also charge $45 delivery, if the screen is too big to transport. read more

Update: 6/11/24 Wow. Well, this was a surprise! A few hours after I'd posted the above review, I got a message from Frank (I believe he's the V.P. and General Manager) at Screens and Things. He apologized for our being disappointed in our purchase, and for any miscommunication that may have taken place. He then asked me to give him a call, to allow them the opportunity to "make it right". When I did call, he apologized again, stressing that customer satisfaction was of the utmost importance to the company, and then, shockingly offered to rectify the situation by replacing our just installed screens with our preferred choice completely free of charge! Suffice it to say, my wife and I were stunned. We'd left the review simply to make clear that we thought there was a missed opportunity for a better outcome; but we were quite prepared to live with the initial screens we'd purchased, as it was not really a mistake, but a lack of communication. I assure you, that this was totally unexpected, but a fantastic surprise. He told me that he was going to walk over to dispatch and put the job in, and that we'd receive a call to schedule an appointment. Which happened promptly. So, as of yesterday, we have new screens! The tech came back and re-screened our doors and window right on our lanai. We'd like to, of course, thank everyone at Screens and Things for providing perhaps the best customer service we've ever experienced. I am so impressed and completely satisfied with the entire service and products I received from Screens & Things! When I made the decision to replace my windows. I contacted the window manufacturer Milgard and was referred 3 companies which included Screens & Things. After researching all 3 on the website, I chose Screens & Things and made an appointment on their website for a free estimate. Within 24 hours, I was contacted to schedule an appointment. Randy arrived on time to take measurements and the process started with the first cost proposal email from Jim, who after speaking with him on the phone and meeting with him at the Beretania Street showroom, gave me the comfort and assurance that he and the company cares about their customers and will provide quality service and products to their customers to be completely satisfied. From 22 windows, my husband and I decided to replace all 34 windows so that all the windows will have the manufacturer guarantee. It became an even bigger request to Jim for customer satisfaction. During this process, Jim was prompt with revised proposals and email communication. The final proposal was approved, Jim placed the order and the installation date was scheduled. While waiting for the windows to arrive, we also had screens replaced on 3 sliding doors. All 3 doors had an issue that I was not aware of. Randy pointed out the issues and resolved it, so the doors slide and lock perfectly. 1 sliding screen door is a Pella brand door. The challenge is the glass door blocking the sides of the sliding screen door. The issue was the sliding screen door frame was slightly warped near the handle/lock. The resolution would be a bar in the center of the frame to straighten the frame. This door challenged the team to rescreen and to resolve the issue and I was not completely satisfied with the closure of the screen door. So, another service was scheduled to reinstall the center bar and screen for my complete satisfaction. I am very pleased that all 3 sliding doors look great with new screens that slide smoothly and lock perfectly! Window installation was scheduled for a week, Monday to Friday. Installation was completed by late morning Thursday, 1 day earlier. All windows were installed perfectly. It was great courteous service from Anthony and his crew who are expert professionals in their trade for complete satisfaction. The windows are beautiful! Other than windows and screens, Screens & Things have much more products to offer. Whichever product you need, they should be your 'go to' company. I helped my father last year do a complete renovation of his house and getting new screens made was one of the last pieces of this project. We have a few windows that are not standard and had changed size/shape due to the renno. we appreciated the fact that this supplier can do custom made screens for homes. We were pleasantly surprised that after putting in an order, it was ready for pick up within 24 hours. Wow, we thought that we would have to wait at least one week! The ladies who helped us at the front desk were also so helpful with explaining the different types of metal framing and screening. I wish I got their names. This company may be a little more expensive than other places. I think it's because they do custom work, however we spent about $45-$75 (depending on size) for each screen. If you are getting any kind of screening for doors it's definitely 25% more expensive than Home Depot or Lowe's, however the quality is a lot better here. My dads neighbors all have used screens & things for their screen doors and windows for decades. read more

I called to get a quote for my sliding door in Waikiki and they needed to come see the unit. They called a week later for an estimate and wanted to charge almost 1000 for new wheels for my sliding door. I asked them why the price was so high and the breakdown and she said they charge a surcharge for parking which came out to 350.00. I told her I had a parking stall available for them and she still said even if you have a parking stall they charge this fee. Something didn't sound right to me so I said OK thank you. I was able to find another company that did the job for the price of the surcharge. Bottom line is I think it's disgusting that these businesses are pricing services and making up fees to rip off the locals. It's sad that we can't trust businesses here in Hawaii. These types of businesses need to be called out!!! When the trust is gone there is no going back! read more

I live in a Waikiki condo building and have done without a screen door for four years, since I bought the place. I have seen moths, flies, roaches, and termites fly in at night. I Never understood why they don't build buildings with screens. Anyway, after getting two estimates, I decided to go with screens and things. Everyone was helpful.
