needed a back sliding screen door but because of it's odd size 93 3/4" x 41 1/2" i could not just buy one off of the rack since this isn't a standard size. went calling around but no one but Santiago would answer my call and I am 100% glad he did. Went to City Mill Kaimuki to repair window screen. Told Screen department temporarily closed as only one part time guy, and he is slammed. Told to call next week to see when screen department taking customers. Call another City Mill and no one answered phone. Labor problems in Covid era. Drove to Custom Screen and they said my screen could only be fixed with plastic part from City Mill. I asked quote of new screen to replace my 30 year old screen. Great place to get your screens done. I needed two large white framed sliding screen doors replaced and they did it within just over a week and did it for a reasonable price. What a great company to work with. I tried several of our hardware stores across the island to get a custom screen done for a window in the front of the house. It was really important to us to have a screen made without a bar placed in the middle because we didn't want it to block the view. We had done some internet research and found it was possible but all the hardware stores insisted it couldn't be done because the screen would bow. In working with John at Custom Screens he assured us he could do and he did! I called on Friday and it was done on Monday and we couldn't be happier. It fit perfect, doesn't bow and looks awesome! When it comes to screens, Custom Screens is the best kept secret on the island! Here's why... First, I would recommend you call or visit the other "Screen" guys and get a quote...then call Santiago from Custom Screens and I will guarantee you won't be disappointed with the quote he gives you. You can either give him the dimensions of your screen or bring your old screens to his shop. For a reasonable fee, he will even come over to your home and do a measurement, deliver and install the screen for you. We found his shop by chance. Before we found Custom Screens, we looked several months for a screen shop to build a custom lanai screen door for us, but they were all very expensive. One day, we were headed into town on the Moanalua Freeway and there was an accident a little past the H-1 Middle Street merge, so we decided to take a detour through Middle Street and noticed the shop. We didn't stop by that day, but my wife and I decided to check it out the first chance we had later on. That chance finally came and we stopped by the shop late Sunday afternoon. The shop was closed, but there was a contact number on the shop sign. We called the shop owner, Santiago, and gave him the approximate measurements of the screen door we needed, and he gave us a quote. Since I wasn't too confident in my measurements and we didn't want Santiago to build us a door may not fit, we asked if he could come to our home to take a more precise measurement. We set up an appointment for the next day. Santiago came, took the measurements (which took less than 5 mins), and told us our screen will be ready within the next couple days. Santiago called us the following day to tell us our screen was ready and we set up another appointment on the same day for delivery and installation of the screen door. Since the screen door didn't fit in the elevator, he personally brought it up several flights of stairs and installed the door. He was very thorough when installing the screen and made sure there were no openings or gaps where bugs could come in. Santiago was very professional and he provided us with excellent and personalized service, made a quality product in a short amount of time, and it was all done at a reasonable price. I called him on a late Sunday afternoon asking for a quote. In LESS THAN 48 hours, by Tuesday mid afternoon, I had my screen made and installed---Now that's Service!!! We read J T.'s review (prior yelp reviewer) and decided to give Custom Screen a try. Everything that J T. states in their review is true, we had the same positive experience with Custom Screen! We were also in need of getting our lanai screen doors rebuilt and since they were so large, vendors either couldn't make them or the quotes were very high. We called Santiago and asked him to come over to measure our screen doors and provide us with a quote. After receiving his quote, we decided to also replace the rest of our large lanai screen doors. Santiago called us within a day to let us know that he built all of our screen doors and was ready into install them! He and his brother promptly showed up the next morning and quickly and professionally installed all of the doors for us! As with J T., our screen doors were so large that we couldn't bring them up in the elevator. We needed to bring them up five floors via an external stairwell. Custom Screen is a family owned business with excellent customer service and we highly recommend giving them a call. During the installation of our screen doors, Santiago noticed that one of our sliding glass doors was sticking and decided to investigate the problem.
