We had new Milgard windows installed last summer from Sunburst in Kailua. They are very pretty, however the first big rain came last month and the bedroom windows leaked so badly that my wooden floors need to be re-done. We tried everything including a huge tarp but they kept leaking full force from inside the window sill. I called the company twice to see what can be done, but no answer. They already got their $30,000 so I am history. Please stay away from this company as there are many reliable window companies to compare. They are pretty, but do not work. I ordered & had a contractual agreement new Bay Windows I waited 4 months for the windows to arrive. They were wildly different in size & could not be installed. They put in a single panel Slider & removed the custom built support for my Bay Window. It ruined the entire ambience of my bathroom. To summarize; they measured incorrectly. The replacement window did not fit. They installed a single slider because they had it available. They made no effort to honor their contractual agreement. I know I should take them to court but I'm elderly & just don't have the energy to pursue this any further. Maybe they were counting on me to take the path of no resistance. But I miss the look & feel of my old bathroom. read more

I never got around to making a review last year but the crew that came out was well supervised and actually pretty young contractors and laborers. Was in the process of remodeling my interior myself when I dislocated a shoulder. Had these guys come out last minute to install some sliders and a front door. Work was quick, precise, and quality. I have had an awful experience with the owner (Larry). I hired him and his company to replace a custom bay window they ensured me would be the same size as the old window. What I got was a 12" x 65" smaller window and the owner (Larry) refusing to take accountability for a lack of attention to detail. His work crew even dimed him out and said it appeared he ordered a standard bay window rather than install a custom window. I can tell he knows and he is trying to lie to me. Not pleased with the lack of accountability. Just admit you made a mistake! read more

We got bids from several companies to replace our old jalousies with more modern windows. It was a pretty big job to change fourteen various sized windows in the kitchen, living room, bedrooms and baths. Anderson was the highest bid but we decided to choose quality over price after studying reviews of other products. We signed a contract with Larry in August with the expectation that installation would occur in late October. With COVID 19 upending the economy, our order took 4 weeks longer to arrive from MN, so construction started a few days before Thanksgiving. We have only the highest praise for Kawika and his construction crew who completed the project while staying consistent with the design details of our house. During the process, they frequently solicited our feedback about design options and they even added pulls to several tall double-hung windows when I complained that I am too short to open the top half. Bottom line, we are very pleased with the finished product and while the whole process took longer than we expected, we're glad we installed Anderson Windows. Our friends think the new windows perfectly complement the classic look of our 60-year old house. read more

After many questions this was not the case. Quotation given lump sum, no summary of windows or pricing of each. My home was custom built 25 years ago as were the windows and this replacement project has been seamless. I have done many projects on my homes over the last 40 years, but these guys are the best. During installation, we had various issues that caused me to be very unhappy. Miscommunication on the part of the installer's assistant then he sliced three electrical wires which knocked out power to my entire living room. My husband witnessed this but the installer did not say anything. They denied that it was their fault and tried to blame my "old wiring". When their chosen electrician came in to inspect, he diagnosed that it was cut and hidden deep into the wall by this installer. We literally had to haggle with the owner just to get them to pay for the electrician to repair the wires. There's so much more that happened that I do not wish to add in here but it was not a good experience or situation. I had to ask the owner for a discount after all of the problems that we dealt with. I'm hoping that the product is much better than the installation issues because this was not an economical decision. I am truly being honest here so that other homeowners can be careful in their choices given the costs involved. They did finally rectify the situation after I had to threaten litigation. My contractor and a family member who is a retired builder were not happy with the type of wood that they used for the sills of which we had to waterproof because of the knots in the exposed wood. I suggest they change their procedures in this area. I can't stand complainers so I pledge not to be one but this was too much. Since then I have had various other work done on our home and have not had a single problem with other companies. read more

We had Renewal By Andersen Hawaii remove and replace all 31 of the windows in our home (many of them quite large). What a dramatic difference to finally get rid of the cheap single pane windows installed by the developer when our house was built 18 years ago, and what a big improvement to the appearance of the house! The RBA composite windows are outstanding: very thick, solid and substantial, unlike the many much flimsier vinyl windows being marketed by others; the RBA work great; cut down the solar radiation dramatically and lowered our air conditioning bill significantly. The biggest advantage of the RBA over all of the vinyl alternatives is that they can provide a solid color other than white throughout the whole window. White windows would have looked awful on the earth-tone colors of our house, and all of the vinyl competitors, even when offering a different color on the outside, still leave many portions of the window frames a glaring white visible from the outside. RBA is in a whole different class, and quite frankly, all by itself in that class. Our Terratone color windows are beautiful. They were not cheap but the value was superb. Compliments to the installation crew who were not only able to do a new construction type of replacement of both window frames and windows (rather than simply leaving the old corroding frames in the wall and inserting new panels in them like many companies are selling), with all new flashing and sealant, and all new window trim on the exterior, but was also able to build out shadow box frames on the interior to allow re-installation of our plantation shutters. The old windows were less than an inch thick while the new RBA windows were a solid 4.5 inches thick. This did not leave room to reinstall the plantation shutters inside the wall recess. New sills with a shadow box constructed of brick molding around the opening, however, provided the necessary depth to allow re-installation of the plantation shutters with the same inset look. I highly recommend RBAH. The quality is superb. read more
