Tourists beware. I'll start out on a positive note and say that the waitress and the manager were very pleasant and were genuine to be accommodating. The rest of the experience was very poor. For a high end restaurant such as this I would've expected to be treated so much better by the hostess and the food should have been so much better prepared. We arrived two minutes early to our 5 pm reservation and was told to wait in the bar. Yet they sat other people at their outside tables with menus waiting for the 5 o'clock hour to begin. There were plenty of empty outside tables at the beginning of the dinner hour and seeing that others were already seated, we selected a table for two close to the other group of customers. When the hostess came out, she looked at us as if we were imposing on where we wanted to sit as she was going to seat us inside. I understand they are balancing out the waiting staff but we had their first time slot reservation so not sure why we had to be slighted. It was a very uncomfortable situation. However, she did allow us to sit at the table for two. I ordered the lamb to be cooked medium and it arrived at the table raw so they took it back and threw the same ones on the grill quicker and brought them back. The side of mushrooms came lukewarm/cold and they reheated them. And then when I tried to cut into the reheated lamb, it was extremely tough to cut and eat. It was smothered in salty butter. They were accommodating to switch out my meal, which I switched to the scallop appetizer, and it was so salty I could barely eat it. The side of mushrooms was equally extremely salty and I ate one forkful. They did give us free Parker rolls while I waited for my replacement meal to come. We ordered the Affogato dessert and the ice cream scoop was the size of a cookie dough scoop. It wasn't even the normal ice cream scoop size literally two 1/2 small spoonfuls of ice cream. I've had this desert many times before, and that was the weakest I've ever seen. It got to the point where we didn't want to complain again. With the price of their food and the way it was repaired it absolutely was not worth the money and we walked away from them feeling as if the food really was a rip off and not healthy given how they prepared it with a large amount of salt. The bill was $140 for scallop appetizer, side of mushrooms and Alaskan Halibut. No soft drinks or alcohol, just water. My fingers are still swollen this morning from the salt. read more

This restaurant was the first stop for my wife and I on our honeymoon road trip up to Seattle. We wanted to pass through Solvang and check it out since a family friend grew up in the area and suggested it and we found this spot when we got hungry. The hostess asked if we had a reservation but was still able to seat us even though we did not have one. We started off with a couple of margaritas to drink, and they were great. They were slightly on the stronger side, but that's definitely not a bad thing haha. For our food my wife ordered the Caesar salad, which she said was the absolute best she ever had. It basically ruined all other Caesar salads for her because now whenever she has one, she says it's not as good as the one at Coast Range lol! I got the country fried steak which, if I recall correctly, the waitress said was fried in crunched up Lays potato chips. While not the best ever, it was still delicious and I would order it again. We also got a side of fries which are actually like skinny potato wedges but they were perfectly crispy just how we like them. Small side note: they have a meat counter where you can buy a couple slabs of steak to grill up if you're staying in town for a bit. This place was a great first stop on our road trip and we'd love to return. read more

Pls. dont waste your time and your hard earned money to this restaurant. Me and my partner and our baby travelled from Australia to visit family and friends, after driving for 4 hours with friends who recommended this restaurant, we were shocked how my partner was treated by the manager/owner called Joey. (Who is wearing a suit this afternoon, 26th of May 2024) Im sorry if my partner was just wearing plain white shirt, plain black pants and white shoes, i didnt know that he will be judged by his look, as an australians this is very new to us as we are very laid back and wear whatever we want esp. in a place that looks like a pub. My partner asked if he supposed to ask the host first to be seated, this Joey looked at my partner and replied "if he knows how to read he would know where to go" WHO SAID THINGS LIKE THAT TO A CUSTOMER which by the way paid $250+ for a lunch? My partner own an italian restaurant in Australia and he was always polite and nice to customers. Bec. of this experience I cant say any good things about this restaurant. I really hope you fix your customer service and how you treat the people who provides you business. Big thumbs down from all of us. read more

Our favorite spot in town! Great atmosphere and service!. The dinner rolls you start out with are fresh-made and delicious! We had dinner here for the first time last year a few months after they opened and we fell in love so we made sure to come back. We've been to the Michelin star restaurant in Solvang and this place is so much better! A must-try in Solvang. The black cod was to die for and even the baked potato side is literally the best baked potato I've had in my entire life. The steak - awesome! The classic Negroni and mai tai were amazing as well. This is now our favorite restaurant in town! read more

It's strange to me to get an entree without a side of any sort unclouded, no veggies or salad or anything. The menu made little sense because appetizers were all clustered together with soup and salad and most things. It seems like there should have been more order. Our entrees were fine and the service was very very prompt. The complimentary bread was nice. We shared the peanut butter dessert and it was awesome read more

Accidentally came here while they were only serving brunch and ordered the chopped salad just because we didn't want to go somewhere else. It was too pricey and too salty. We came back for dinner because I wanted to try the french onion soup I saw in the reviews here but it wasn't on the menu. I got the beef stroganoff ($40) and it was also too pricey and salty and there was a piece of card stock in it that I hope came from food packaging but I kept eating like a heathen instead of complaining so that's on me. Sides are $13+ for basics like potatoes, veggies, etc... Waiters and waitresses are kinda everywhere and we sat around waiting for about 20 minutes after finishing our meal before our waiter came back again after bringing out the plates. read more

Had to give this place a try after outstanding recommendations. My 3 star rating is rating it with the quality of food, taste, and service I expect from Michelin star or rated restaurant vs any non-gourmet small town independent restaurant. If this was not a Michelin rate restaurant I would have rate a 4 in reality a 4.5 star. But with high expectations they fall I had high expectations, over all I was disappointed, though we hat hits and misses. Friendly but slow service. We dined in a Sunday about 1pmwith a Brunch menu. While it was varied, I actually didn't see a single item I wanted which surprised me. Onion rings - they are fabulous, the best beer battered thick onion ring. Truly amazing. 6 big onion rings, but lots of batter, which may or may not be your thing. Artichoke - well, don't know how it was 15 minutes after ordering was told they were out. No real options to replace item in menu so disappointing. Pastrami Sandwich - in a word oily. Very tasty but distractingly oily. Bun was completely soaked in oil, and had a lot of sauce, I love sauces but this had too much. Fries were thin steak fry style, very good, but not fantastic. I actually wished I had ordered fish and chip instead. Egg Benedict - one found them fantastic, the other at our table felt they were "adequate". Today style had spinach, tomato hollandaise sauce, and prosciutto. If this had been my order I would have very satisfied by it as a extra note. Waitress was very friendly and properly attentive, but extra help from hostess and assistance was very slow, example beer took 15 minutes to get at before meal. Chicken Sandwich - a ton of the same batter as the onion rings, that is 2-4 times the volume compared to the chicken fillet. Huge looking, but lacking in the end needing to Nashville hot or Swiss, bacon avocado would have made this nice but still average crispy chicken much better. Italian Salad - probably the best dish ordered at the table, satisfying and delicious for both at our table that tried it. The tiny red peppers were a perfect touch to a perfectly balanced and truly gourmet salad. read more

This was my first time in Solvang, and my AirBnb host recommended this place to eat as to them they considered it to be a "fancy" restaurant to go to for dinner. And boy was I not disappointed! Every single thing we ordered was absolutely delicious!!! Such a good experience, not just the food and drinks, but the customer service was superb and did a great job with checking in on us and how our food was, as well as chatting with us a bit. If you're ever in Solvang, looking for a little fancy restaurant for a date night or a celebration I definitely recommend this place :) Shout out to our server Allison for a great experience!! :) Ordered: Big Shell Mac French Onion Soup Fritto Misto East Side Sour read more

I came here with some friends who had recommended this place due to its michelin star mention. I would not waste my time. I've travelled from Australia and personally have my own restaurant. I'm an avid foodie and travel to different countries to try out different foods. I have been to Michelin restaurants, and this is not it! Terrible service from the owner Joey, who thought it was appropriate to give me a smart ass comment to another table when I politely asked if I wait at the sign for the host or walk further in. (If only he could read, he would know where to go) he also muttered something else inaudible. We had later complained to our server, who might I add was great, she told us she would tell the owner to come speak to us. To my surprise, the owner then lost his big boy pants and cowered consistently until we had left, we noticed as soon as he would see me, he would tuck his tail between his legs and hide. The food was good (apart from the Cod, which we were told was sent back from other tables also), but unfortunately, the kitchen was let down by the owner. read more

The food was amazing, very flavorful. Our server Yesi was amazing, she was super attentive. Thank you

Was sadly disappointed by some of the food and drink quality, especially at those prices. A $67 beef cut should not be tough and lacking flavor, and $17 cocktails should not be poured over a handful of ice! If you're going to go to the lengths of having three variations of an Old Fashioned, why not make it with some care and craft? The service was fine, we just expected more out of a restaurant with a seemingly great reputation. Would not go back. read more

Food and service was amazing! Filet mignon and lobster were great. I would 100% recommend this and come back.

Went on a busy weekend. Told the wait was 40 minutes but sure didn't feel like that long. Food was worth it too. Steak for the kids was a perfect size and seasoned with their house rub. We ended up buying a bottle of the rub it was so good. read more

Omg I cannot wait to come back to Solvang and have dinner here. We only got to have lunch here and since we had dinner reservations at Mad & Vin( wish we changed it to coast Range to be honest) We sat at the bar on Valentine's Day and the bartender was really sweet! The food was 10/10 we had the the fish crudo which melted in your mouth.we also had the steak tartare and spicy tuna on crispy rice which were incredible. Only thing that could use a bit fine tuning was the picante Margarita which is a passion fruit and habanero Marg ( could be spicier and more passion fruit forward) it tasted like a regular marg. Still delicious tho! read more

The food here is INSANE. The bread is pillowy, the French onion soup has a depth of flavor that makes you melt, the wagyu stroganoff has homemade pasta and incredible flavor. The ribeye was cooked perfectly and the macaroni and cheese is unique, creamy and heavenly. They have these donuts for dessert that hit the perfect sweet and salty balance and the drinks are (insert chefs kiss here). They have a friendly atmosphere and staff as well. We hit this place up every time we are in town and will keep coming back. read more

Went for a quick drink and appetizer before an event. It wasn't busy and service was slow. French Onion soup was delicous!

What to say bout this so call Michelin restaurant. I sad to say that this place should not be on any list , we ordered the ceviche and dinner rolls for starters, the ceviche came out over cooked, it looked like that they left in the lime juice way to long. The best thing was the dinner roll. Which cost 7.00 for 2 rolls. The we had the Alaska halibut and the beef stroganoff, the halibut was good but the problem was the beef stroganoff it tasted like they put in the wine at the end of the cooking process because it tasted and smell like wine. But the best part was when we ordered dessert we ordered the dubi chocolate tiramisu, the cook grab it with her whole bare hands after grabbing the dirty counter top in front of me then they put all the sauce on top of the cake to hide the finger impression. The service suck ass we had to ask for more water , and I didn't get my second drink that I ordered. read more

[4.1/5.0] Birthday dinner with my girlfriend! i got the medicine mule to start, super fire especially if you like ginger. There were some folks strolling around with blankets wrapped around them being super loud...like why? Why are you so interested in meats??? Anyways, the food was on point. My gf got the pasta and I got the salmon. The wagyu in the pasta was fire, sauce tasted like a toned down wasabi, goes hard. The salmon was flakey and the skin was crispy crispy. We also got the prawn cocktails, which went stupid. C sal was solid, wasn't anything to write home about. Overall, not a bad spot. Good place it you wanna ball out a bit. read more

Coast Range had such promise coming in, and there are many great things to enjoy here. The cocktail menu here is fantastic. Smoke and Wine is a masterfully composed take on a sour that is a glorious dance between the sweet and tart of the honey and orange liqueur, the earthy and smoky of the mezcal, and the fruity and spicy of the red wine. Midnight Rider is an old-fashioned refined to perfection. Every aspect of this drink expertly balanced. The Hot Cocoa toddy which served as my dessert was equally decadent, boozy, and nostalgic. The marshmallow fluff on top served to dampen the drink's potentially harsher tones with each sip. The appetizers too were outstanding. The half-shell oysters were well selected and the accompanying sauces perhaps a bit muted but still very enjoyable. The octopus was the most tender I have had in the Santa Ynez Valley and the accompanying broth with butter beans rich and flavorful. The French onion soup was a masterpiece. An umami explosion with a touch of sherry. If this had been the extent of the meal, there would be no question about giving this place five stars. The problem comes when we reach the steaks. The steak that I received from Coast Range was plainly overcooked and came to me luke-warm. The black truffle jus belied none of a truffle's qualities save for a subtle earthiness. The saving grace was the meat near the bone which was thankfully closer to the doneness I had ordered and retained some of the sweet tasting fat that Santa Carota cattle have. As such Coast Range has some great things going for it. Their seafood and appetizers are phenomenal, their cocktails world-class. If you are looking for a steak though, I would suggest looking elsewhere. At least for now, your best bet is to stick to the Coast and forget about the Range. read more

To the management of Coast Range, please consider replacing your hostess. We came in after walking around the town to ask about the menu and if they were open for walk ins. I want to start off by saying the hostess and busser were very kind and hardworking. But my experience with the server was pretty awful. We went to brunch last weekend to celebrate my wife's 30th birthday and encountered the most rude waitress I have ever experienced. We ordered bottomless mimosas and a large black haired waitress then came out to ID us. She came off with a stern rude voice and looked us up and down for a full thirty seconds then rudely asking my wife to look her in the eye. I tried to laugh it off and assume she was trying to be funny about the ages because of my wife's birthday but this was not the case. She then came over bothered the one time she filled our mimosa glass. We waited forever for her to come by but she never checked on us. We needed to go inside after 25 minutes to ask for a check. The rest of our 2 day trip was amazing and we did not let one miserable woman ruin our trip but it was very disappointing. read more
