Great customer service, even better food! Definitely the kind of meal needed after a long week -The other John W. read more

Only have been to the food truck that comes to base and the customer service is great. However, the price point is very high. Too high. The chicken and burger are quality ingredients but very bland. There are virtually no seasonings. If the seasoning and flavors were off the chart, I would begin to understand the price point. The salad is very good though. It's the backbone of the flavor in the coachwhip. read more

A group of us returned to the Meadowcliff Lodge and RV Resort this year and got our food from the Coachwhip Cafe for the second night of our stay. We had a wide variety of dishes accounted for. My partner and I both ordered the GOCHUJANG CHICKEN. It was delicious. We also ordered the Caprese Salad which was also very tasty. The produce was fresh and delicious. Everyone else in our group was also delighted with their entrees. This restaurant is a gem and a great addition for the area. Be advised that they are currently just takeout. But it is delicious nonetheless. If you are passing through you owe it to yourself to stop and enjoy their delicious food. read more

Coachwhip Cafe - CHICKEN PICCATA pan fried chicken breast + white wine + lemon + capers + house made pesto + spaghetti + arugula - Food Trucks Near Me - Coleville, California

This place is right on the 395 and it's a new restaurant! Close to Topaz Lake/Lodge if you're in that area. I was really excited to see this place open up because they have a lot of exciting and diverse options on their menu that we don't see around this area much. There is a beautiful little outdoor seating area with views of pastures and an epic rock formation. There are vietnamese and moroccon options on the menu. I had the spicy peanut tofu bowl and it was delicious and healthy! I also was eyeing the lentil cakes and the pulled pork banh mi sandwich. They also had traditional items on the menu if that's your jam. My husband had the Bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. It was a lot of food for $9! We also tried the broccoli cheddar soup which was really creamy. The owners seem really nice. They even gave us free lemon bars to try! They were some of the best lemon bars we ever had! read more

What a delight to find this new healthy and tasty gem pop up along an otherwise greasy-spoon laden stretch of 395. The food is fantastic with multiple vegan and vegetarian (and meat) options. There is definitely an emphasis on quality, healthy ingredients in the varied menu. We did not expect to find tasty Thai inspired dishes that rival similar fare from big city eateries, but we're pleasantly surprised by the complex flavors and the crisp freshness of the veggies. We also tried the quiche, salads, soup and desserts. Everything exceeded our expectations. After talking with the super friendly proprietor, whose wife is the chef with 2 decades of fine cuisine restaurant experience around the Country, we learned they've been wanting to open their own spot for years and finally found the right spot to do it. Sounds like they are big outdoor enthusiast looking to practice stewardship by supporting the local Eastern Sierra communities and environment through future partnership and events (including pursuing a sponsorship of a section of the PCT). Consider giving these guys a shot as they are deserving of your support and we need more establishments like this around... and the food is absolutely delicious (and healthy!), you won't regret it. Great outside eating area with views too. No food pics because we ate it too fast, sorry. read more

Coachwhip Cafe - Classic 395 restaurant space in the process of being reimagined into the new Coachwhip Cafe... with a pretty rad craggy backdrop. - Food Trucks Near Me - Coleville, California

Absolutely recommend Coachwhip! The food is excellent. Presently the restaurant is closed but they have a beautiful food truck they have been using for so many different venues all over the eastern Sierra. If you want fresh, healthy food, served with a smile then Coachwhip is the place to go! I go there (when the restaurant is open) on my way to and from Reno/Carson City area and I go to the food trailer/truck which has gigs everywhere on the Eastside. Everyone rants about how great the food and service is. It's so refreshing to be served a delicious, healthy meal from some younger entrepreneurs who know how to cook and are ever so welcoming and friendly. The folks at Coachwhip are some very kind, generous and helpful folks! Can't wait to eat there again! read more

We stumbled upon this gem on our way to Lake Tahoe from Mono. Right on the highway, this little unassuming restaurant has the best food ever. The ingredients are fresh, service is impeccable and the menu is amazing catering to everyone's taste - vegan, vegetarian, meat eaters. We ordered Popcorn Tofu and Portobello mushroom for dinner and we practically wiped the plates clean. Had an awesome conversation with the owner - his partner is the chef.. must go if your travels take you this way. read more

Don't miss this place! We stopped here for lunch yesterday, on our way from Tahoe to Mammoth, based on all the great reviews here. What a treat! Fresh, delicious, creative food, made and served by people who really care about what they're doing here. And what a beautiful setting! Check out our photos and stop by! read more

Nice quick bite for brunch on our way into the canyon. You can tell the food is thoughtfully crafted because the menu is diverse. The Vietnamese pulled pork is so juicy and tender. The goat cheese in the grilled cheese sandos makes them delightfully tangy and creamy. I appreciate this cafe's mere existence in rural Coleville because it's a tasty, healthy alternative to the traditional American restaurants offered nearby. Honorable mention: the fantastic view! read more

Wonderful drive by spot on the way to Mammoth! Eats were great and the menu has a ton of variety. The chef knows what he's doing! The back area is nice and scenic in the winter. Perfect for letting the pup out for a short walk and investigate snow! Was really happy to support this small business on a whim. read more

So much more that you would expect from a diner connected to a KOA! Our motel manager told us they ate there yesterday, and that was enough for us. It was outdoor dining and take out only, but that was fine, because we wanted to eat in our room! We had the pork chop and a bowl of soup, but it was far more than that. The chop was presented over yukon gold mashed, with a great gravy. The side was a cabbage slaw. It was so delicious, and the menu is like you would find in an inventive Bay Area "diner." The chop was great, but the soup, a thick, smooth, sweet potato leek puree, was the hit, and you know how much I love pork chops! If there was indoor dining, this would be a destination! read more

Coachwhip Cafe is a true gem, and my husband and I look forward to stopping there every time we drive the 395 corridor. The food is excellent -- fresh, beautifully presented, flavorful, and clearly planned and executed with care. The setting is majestic, and Liane and Niko are welcoming and friendly. We are so lucky to have them in our Eastern Sierra community. read more

The staff was super friendly, good conversation, clearly happy to be doing what he was doing at 7:30 on a Thursday night. We had the chicken piccata and totally enjoyed it. Everything was cooked and flavored to delight the tastebuds. The market salad was delicious with a refreshingly creative combination of flavors. A trail mix bar topped it off with a sweet note. We definitely had plenty to eat. Thank you for a dinner that didn't disappoint. read more

The Coachwhip Cafe is delicious! I had the coconut cashew dish with chicken and snow peas. It was flavorful, cooked perfectly, and was healthy but filling. My partner had the clam chowder with a grilled cheese which were equally delicious! Their menu is awesome and really considers everyone. They have options for vegan/vegetarian/ and meat and cheese lovers. It's the best place to eat between Tahoe and Mammoth. Their service was great and prices fair. They gave us free cookies with our meal! The outdoor dining area has a gorgeous Mountain view. Definitely stop here! read more

Definately worth stopping here !! What a joy to find this little restaurant tucked in next to the KOA. Keep your eyes out, it's easy to miss. I had the salmon, which came with broccoli-perfectly cooked and rice. My husband had the Gochujang chicken. Fresh tasting ingredients used in the dishes, which were NOT your ordinary menu items.. so delicious and beautiful presentation !! I want to get the Chicken Piccata next time... it looks sooo good. Following the great dinner however, the dessert was a let down. The Strawberry cheesecake and lemon bar were covered with a 'whipped cream' of some sort. Outdoor dining area was minimal. Can't wait until they finish for inside dining !! We agreed it was the best take out we've had. I look forward to stopping by again, next time will be for lunch. read more

We highly recommend Coachwhip Cafe, a small farm-to-table restaurant in Coleville, California. My wife and I are foodies and their cuisine is SUPERB; each plate presentation was enough to trigger our tastebuds before the first bite. We started with the Farmers Market Salad, definitely one of the most attractive and tasty salads we have eaten, very different flavors and textures and tastes that make this salad unique. The Gochujang Chicken and Cashew Coconut bowl with tofu were our entrees, again perfectly balanced tastes with just the right amount of spices. We couldn't stop eating even though we had polished off the entire salad. The portions were not small; you will not leave hungry but very satisfied knowing you ate great healthy quality prepared food. read more

What a wonderful find in the most unlikely place. Not your typical burger joint and yes even way better than Whoa Nelli Deli. They are also the nicest people. Even if you are not passing through, worth the drive north from Hwy 120 or south from the Sonora pass. As seen on there menu, they even have a good plant base menu. If all you want are burgers or pizza, go somewhere else. If you want to reward your pallette, come here read more

If I could give this place 6 stars I would. Or maybe 10. Stopped by Coachwhip Cafe on our way to Yosemite from Lake Tahoe for lunch. The view is gorgeous, food was phenomenal (must try the cheddar, havarti and goat cheese grilled cheese), but the service was above and beyond. Niko and Liane were both amazing. Niko even wrote us a personalized list of must-see places on the way to and at our destination. Would come back to this area just to go back here. read more

Wow!! This place is such a gem. We are on a road trip and stopped at the lodge next door. We figured we wouldn't have many options for dinner in such a small town but we were wrong! Okay it's far from everything but it is worth the drive. We go Mammoth often and the beautiful drive was worth the amazing food. We ordered the popcorn tofu, seared tofu and chicken piccata. Outdoor dining only for now so be prepared to eat in car if windy otherwise their outdoor setting is to die for. Great service as well. We shall return in the summer! read more

AMAZING! DELICIOUS! FRIENDLY! We visited twice (lunch and dinner) during our visit to the area last weekend (short drive from Bridgeport/Bodie area). Food was beyond delicious...flavorFULL, fresh, healthy, creative combinations. Niko, Liane and Denen were all so warm and welcoming. Their investment in their menu, location/vibe/ambiance (cute tables outside with heat lamps, lighting and a view that can't be beat) and customers is evident. Only wish we lived closer so we could visit every week. We enjoyed the Fried Cauliflower, Fish Fry, Chocolate Mousse and a couple of their desserts/bars (lovely, fall cranberry creations!) read more
