I only reserve my 5 star ratings for the really great places. Desperate for something other than low country, we tried CO. And wow, was it good. We started with two small plates, the dumplings and the crispy rolls. And then had the Banh Mi sandwich. The bread was crusty and warm, and all the flavors mixed together were delightful. Since we were on a roll, we decided to end the meal with a dessert - coconut panna cotta with sriracha caramel sauce. Stunning! It was slightly savory, with a new blend of flavors, and I felt that they went the extra mile by adding a flash fried basil leaf. We cannot wait to go back to try the Pho. Great job! read more

I've visted Co. many times over the past couple of years and it's never a disappointment. Their Happy Hour deals are fantastic - Jalepeno Guava Margarita is a favorite of mine. At a recent visit we enjoyed the Pineapple Sake Infusion - I am not a huge fan of sake usually but the added sweet flavor of the pineapple was delicious. Some of my favorites from the food menu are the Spicy Udon and Pad Thai. Make sure to join their rewards program on your next visit, it seems I leave with a coupon for a free dish or bottle of sauce every time I visit! read more

I've probably been here 10 times and never been let down by any dish. It is really good food. Vietnamese Chicken salad is the best thing on the menu. Dumplings all are great. Pad thai is phenomenal. I could keep listing dishes. Also had the cucumber mojito last night and it was excellent. Highly recommend Co. Not a fan of sitting upstairs though - shoot for the bar. read more

I agree with past reviews - no one greeted us for about 10 minutes. Finally one of the waitresses noticed us and asked if we'd been helped, and I mentioned that we had been waiting. Apparently the manager was upstairs in the back? When he came down there was no apology and despite the many empty tables, he said that our party of 2 would be a 20 minute wait. Didn't take much time saying no thanks. It's not worth the wasted time. read more

I've been banh mi-less for far too long and this place fixed that! They have 4-5 different kinds and all are delicious. Menu has something for everyone, even if you're vegetarian. It has seating upstairs with a cool view of king street. Heading back there today and I'm already drooling! read more

I ate at CO as part of a vegan meet-up in Charleston. CO is good but their vegan options are few and not much varied. For instance, one of their vegan appetizers, the Spring Rolls, is a topping on one of their vegan friendly salads. CO is passable for vegans but it needs to raise its game to be a vegan go-to. read more

BF had the beef pho and said it was pretty good for "east coast pho." I ordered the vietnamese ramen and I thought it was delicious. I usually can't finish a meal when I go out, and as expected I was unable to finish my ramen. It was no issue to put it in a bowl to take home (and it was just as delicious the next day for lunch). The cheesecake wontons for dessert were delicious and I considered licking the plate clean but restrained myself... barely. read more

Grabbed lunch here for the first time this past "2nd Sunday" and was really, really glad I did! Service was friendly and prompt and was very helpful in deciding which of the Thai/Korean/Vietnamese entrees to go with. Started with the crispy chicken wontons and they were excellent and perfectly fried! Had Pork and Crab Springrolls next and they were equally delicious! Sauces offered on the table and specifically served with particular entrees and apps were amazing! For lunch went with the Hanoi Noodles and was very, very pleased. Food was delicious, fresh, excellently prepared, and presented nicely. Prices were totally reasonable and portions were legit; no one got a tiny though beautiful plate that left them needing more. Everyone at the table loved what they ordered. Will definitely be back for Asian here again soon! read more

Worst fried rice I've ever had. Broken lights flicker the entire time. Gave me a headache. Rude staff... this place is the worst thing I've experienced in Charleston. Yuck. read more

Vietnamese Ramen was mediocre. The pork belly was great but the other components were so-so. The saving grace was the lemon grass sake. It was delicious and complimented the meal perfectly. read more

So we get the pickeled veggies. There might be enough for a super model app but not really. I assume because the food cost is so extreme (that is is a joke ok?). Then the pork belly sandwiches which are served, unseasoned, on some really really greasy bread. We are looking at each other going mmm Vietnamese? = spice? Where are we chucktown mediocre like always? Yep. We eat and THEN the waitron brings the hot sauce!!! Wtf? You cant put it on the table like every other place ON THE PLANET? Very annoying to have the server recommend the most expensive sake which was either old or sucks in the first place. The cheaper one was better. Short rib sandwich was good. Lemongrass chicken...was just flat out embarrassing. Not even an ounce of chicken. Pigeons in the street would ignore it. And the sever still had the balls to charge us for everything. Get something frozen from trader joes and save yourself the authentic (puke puke) Vietnamese experience. And my favorite part? They take your plate and you have the choice of holding the chopsticks in your hand, putting them in your favorite orifice, or NOOO placing them flat on the table. Decisions decisions. SKIP IT. read more

I wanted to dismiss CO because the first time I walked in, they were blaring Skrillex and were trying hard to recapture a Buddakan à la Sex and the City vibe. Trendy Asian? Not for me. I've found the best/most traditional places are usually found in strip malls. After a few dinner misses, I finally went back for lunch and tried the pho. I will say, it's the best *on the peninsula*. I may have liked a bit more fish sauce, but the bowl of star anise-laced broth saved me a trip to my usual favorite - H&L on Rivers Ave. Lunch time is a little more quiet and you have more time to savor the meal. Stick to the pho or gyoza and you'll be fine. read more

Flavorful food and reasonable prices. Atmosphere is a bit night-club-y..with the music and lighting. If that's your thing or not, it's worth overlooking for the tasty meal and reasonable prices. My husband and I find it to be much better than Basil Thai. read more

I have been twice and both times I was more than satisfied leaving. Their pad tai is honestly one of the best I have had and their pho did not disappoint. Everything is extremely flavorful and fresh.... Now I'm craving pad thai!! read more

I've eaten here more times than I count and I keep going back. I love the dumplings, noodle bowls and the banh mi. The menu has changed slightly at least once, but the food is always good, the staff is friendly and the cocktails are delish! The place is small and gets crowded during peak hours, so go early. read more

One of my favorite noodle places! Living a block away from this place, I sometimes spend too many evenings taking advantage of the happy hour dinner specials here. The bartenders are great, fun atmosphere, and delicious food. A little pricey, as most places in downtown Charleston are, but i can tell you, its worth it. Also, if you are eating at table and not the bar, most of the seating in community seating where groups will share tables with others. They have some smaller tables for individual groups as well. read more

Co has amazing beef pho and you must try their coconut juice with pulp . My husband had the banh-mi and it was delicious as well. I like that the menu is small, but each item is distinctly different. You can't come here once and be completely satisfied. You need to come at least 4 or 5 times to try everything you want because everything sounds amazing. Next on my palate bucket list is the udon. Can't wait to come back! Good service, and great food. You won't be disappointed with anything you order. Always packed full of people, which means it's definitely popular! read more

Slow service and bland food. Avoid at all costs. The food had zero seasoning. The waitstaff only checked in on us every fifteen minutes. No seasoning on the table (no salt, pepper, soy sauce) so my food was just bland and I couldn't do anything about it. Boba tea was bland. read more

Incredible food is the only reason they get 2 stars. but lord I hope this place doesn't close because of their AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL service, staff and management. I have never been to an establishment so poorly managed. Employees allowed to do whatever they please, smoke cigarettes in plain view of dining room and continue to work REEKING. kitchen staff doing drugs in plain view. Food was good other than ordering 3 of the same dishes (curry laska) and they were all different but still tasted fine. Woman stood next to our table our whole 2 1/2 hours of dining talking and distracting the kitchen expo. Worst service I've experienced in Charleston read more

My first meal in Charleston and it did not disappoint! Try the tofu bahn mi, flavorful grilled tofu topped with crisp bread, it's SO good! Also the curry laksa! Very flavorful and appetizing. It's though on the saltier side if you're more conscious about it. read more

This was for lunch. The drunken noodles with chicken was amazing. I asked for mild and it was almost too hot for me but the flavors were awesome. It was too much for me to eat at lunch. Husband had tuna tacos. We were really happy with our selections. We sat downstairs at the long table next to the bar. Bartender was friendly and provided exceptional service. Highly recommend this place! Sad I will not be in town longer to try some of their other selections read more

Went in for dinner on Thursday night. Wasn't expecting much, but the food did not disappoint! Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and really made us enjoy the dining experience. Our server Phoebe recommended both our appetizers and the Curry Laksa as our entree. Everything was on point! We will definitely be returning thanks to the wonderful service and can't wait to try more of the menu. read more

Came in with a party of 8, they seated us on a bench, we were shoulder to shoulder. Ordered dumpings for starters, the pan fried dumpling were burned. The dumpling meat has no favor. The pho dac bet is literally beef, chicken and the dumpling meat as meatballs. The broth is over powered by ginger. The pho noodles was cooked just right. Over priced for Vietnamese food. I'm Vietnamese btw. Pick some where else if your Vietnamese! read more

Would give it 10 stars if I could, it is that good! I got the laksa and my husband got the Vietnamese Ramen...both wonderful! Also got the pork gauza which is recommended as well! read more

In town for a meeting and popped in here for a quick bite. Glad we did. I had the beef &kimchi dumplings...awesome. Then had the shrimp/beef spring roll. Tasty. read more

Place is awesome. My chubby friend had the hannoy noodles and raved a/b them. I had curry shrimp app and it was great. A couple of cucumber vodkas and it was a great experience. Finding parking sucks but it's downtown and that's just how it is. Definitely recommend this place. Bartender was great too. read more

I have been in this restaurant several times and enjoyed every visit till now. But this last time it was a Horrible experience, they took 60 min to bring our food. And when they brought it, it was cold. The waiter was rude and told us he wouldn't check on our food to see how much longer it would be to bring It out. Our drink we bought for 12$ had a mountain of ice in it. We just had a terrible night here. read more

This is how you do modern Asian with a Viet lean. It's not full on authentic, but that's not the point. It obviously helps that the food is actually good. You get the flavors you expect out of the traditional dishes and get the modern touches like presentation, portions, and accessible fare. The few times we went we at least tried the pho and banh mi, and happy to report that these were spot on. Pho portion isn't huge, so you know this isn't one of those quantity over quality places. Even the typical accoutrements were individually portioned. Now only if all them did it this way. Of course, since this isn't your neighborhood pho joint, much of the traditional and less accessible fare isn't on the menu. Who cares; I know someone who could eat pho everyday. 4 stars. I like this version of Vietnamese food, especially the clean and cool space. read more

Very cute restaurant in downtown on King Street. Pad Thai one of the best I have ever had! My kids also liked the Korean Rice Bowl and Pho Ga. Very good service! read more

You can't go wrong with anything on their menu. This place is a total gem. The service is always superb as well.

I've been here several times since opening. This review will encompass my overall impression and also touch on my most recent experience which I was about a week ago (dec 2013) on a random weeknight. Overall, this is a great place to come for happy hour! Every trip has been overall positive and I've never felt anything other than this is a great place to go. I've had most appetizers (great happy hour deals on these) and usually get the curry laksa. The dumplings and spring roll apps are all great and I especially appreciate the vegetarian options. The decor is also really nice. I'd say overall good prices too. I love the hot chili sauces they keep on the table. I do not particularly care for the shanghai sausage, which is offered as an option with the Hanoi noodles and possible other dishes. It has a strange sweetness that I simply do not care for. Service is very good as well, and I was able to effortlessly make substitutions. Great place all around. Broth noodle portions are very large and obviously difficult to split so be prepared to take some home. Avoid the Bahn mi sandwiches, as the noodles are much better. I had the Hanoi noodles at my last visit and was very pleased (save for the sausage which simply didn't suit me- no problems with execution) and I really enjoyed it. read more

Well another bad experience at CO. The wait staff is incompetent and the food is mediocre to say the least. We have been dining here off and on since they opened and the experience has definitely went down since. To add insult to injury, after waiting almost an hour to get our entree, I get Pho spilled in my lap. Worst eating experience I had in years!!!! read more

Great noodle bowls. Awesome spring summer rolls. Great service and when they say a 20 minute wait, they mean it. Really enjoyed my meal here. DEFINITELY coming back for a "round 2". read more

I went there on a Saturday evening to try some good Vietnamese food - ordered two entrees and an appetizer. Everything was delicious! The ambiance is nice. The servers are great.I'll go there again. read more

Sat at the bar and waited at least 5 minutes for the bartender to acknowledge me, she gave me a menu and said she'd be back for my drink order. 10 minutes later she still hadn't come back so I left. Im not sure what was wrong since the bar wasn't crowded and she didn't seem slammed, but I didn't care to stick around for that kind of service. The place is nice but I was surprised by the high prices on the menu. read more

Yum. The green curry with chicken was great!! Spicy enough and served with rice to take some of the heat off if you don't like it really hot. I asked for extra heat. The chicken pho was great also. The broth is extremely flavorful. read more

Trendy looking place but me being Vietnamese, this food is definitely americanized. Everything was a bit on the sweet side. I ordered dumplings and spicy udon. Spicy udon was not one bit spicy, it tasted like sweet and sour udon. I would give 2 stars but i like the environment and service. Food not recommended. read more

Being a self-admitted Vietnamese food snob, I've been avoiding Co since I moved here in July. Generally, I do not do trendy Asian places because of the lack of authenticity. Also, I have a really hard time paying $12 for a bowl of Pho when I grew up eating the real deal in the hole-in-the-wall joints in Ft. Worth, TX for about $5 a pop. That being said, I decided to give Co a shot (on my birthday at that!). First off, the service was fantastic. We were seated immediately (at a community table that was quite fun) and our waitress was delightful and very helpful. I had a really nice cocktail off their specialty menu, and we sampled some dumplings and the summer rolls (one of the standards by which I measure any Vietnamese place). Both were delicious, and very fresh. I ordered the Seafood Pho for dinner, and I have to say, I was surprised at how good it was. It was NOT as authentic and flavorful as the mom and pop shops of home, but I've definitely had much worse Pho. The seafood in it (shrimp and fish balls) was very fresh and perfectly cooked. The broth was light and moderately flavorful. The standard accompaniments were all there, but I had to ask for extra hoisin and sriracha (which was brought very promptly by the food runner). Again, I have a hard time paying $12+ for Pho, but I've come to accept that that's how it's going to be in Chas (even the new Phuong in N. Chas is $10), and I have to admit that I was pleased with my meal. The others in my party had some of the Thai noodle dishes, and Banh Mi...all of which were VERY tasty (much better than Basil and MUCH less expensive). The superstar of the meal for me was the dessert. I think I found my dessert soulmate...Coconut Panna Cotta with Sriracha Caramel Sauce and toasted Sesame Seeds. Are you kidding me? I could have eaten three of these! Overall....highly recommend...especially given that we are in Charleston and severely limited on good, ethnic food choices! read more

Delicious! The Malaysian wings were the most flavorful chicken wings I've ever had. Blows away regular wings you'll get anywhere else. Try them. Also the blackberry fizz drink made with bourbon was excellent. Was very suprised by the atmosphere and food, both of which were great. We were a little tired of the very heavy southern food on the last day of our trips so this was a perfect reprieve. read more
