This was my first time here and the food was good! Between my friend and I, we got the matcha latte and the caramel macchiato, and the avo toast and the banana almond butter toast. The avo toast was good but our orders were nothing too special. The drinks were also ok! Service was lovely and food came out really fast. I also really enjoyed the separation of spaces for conversations and working locations. The cafe was very chill and is a great place to catch up with some friends.

Friendly staff and quaint cafe. Mostly vegetarian choices on menu of salads and sandwiches. Enjoyed fresh mozzarella and red pepper sandwich with lettuce on ciabatta with scoop of potato salad. Celebrated an early Mother's Day with my eldest who attends UCD. Can't wait to return again. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

    No wifi just conversations!

Let me first say, how much I loved their customer service here. It felt like a local spot where the baristas made conversations that are not quick "how's your day going." As for the food? My husband and I made a mistake of order 2 brie and fig sandwiches (bacon & turkey) thinking we could finish it in one sitting! It was so delicious and so so filling. The fig was a bit sweet but I would still go back for this. We wanted to see which one we prefer by taking half and I definitely recommend the turkey one. This place does not have any wifi and since this is in Davis I felt that it was perfect since college life is a go go go. This place felt like it's where you slow down time and be in the moment. Looking around it was nothing but conversations. Such an amazing ambiance for catching up.

Their drinks and some of their paninis are ok, but their breakfast panini with bacon is amazing! Probably one of the best breakfast items I've had in Davis and it's the reason I come back to this cafe. Only downside is that they stop selling it at 11:30 :( The people who work at the cafe are very nice and I love the cozy vibe the cafe has!

I think they remodeled? not too confident but super cute cafe, I appreciate the section they have where you aren't allowed to sit with laptops/ipads and are only meant to be used for dining and conversing (bring back cafes where you just sit and talk !!!). Pink lady juice was delicious!

Food is so good, the cafe vibe is also awesome. People here are rly friendly too!! One of my fav places in downtown Davis

Their food is stupendous! This was our third time eating there. I freaking love the Brie sandwich. Their food feels and tastes healthy but filling. I love the interior's decorative features. They have many pieces of art on display and for sale. Overall a friendly gem that we will be returning to shortly.

Food was amazing and staff were extremely nice. One of my new favorite cafes. Did not have to wait too long. We also got their lattes and those were amazing...had to order another.

Can't believe it took me this long to write a review for My Burma. Long overdue. The food is excellent and I keep coming back. A few dishes worth calling out specifically: the Tea Leaf Salad, Sesame Chicken, Coconut Rice, and the Pad Thai. Haven't been able to get to anything else on return trips. One note if you're a heat seeker -- the Pad Thai doesn't get very spicy, even when requested. I like extreme heat, so factor that in accordingly. Most people will find it perfectly seasoned. On my last visit I tried the black rice pudding with ice cream. Don't skip it if dessert is on your radar. Dogs are welcome on the patio, which is a great perk. One thing to be aware of: the gate can be a little tricky to navigate -- something to keep in mind if you or anyone in your group has mobility challenges. My Burma has my business. Highly recommend.

A quick Yelp…read moresearch produced Good Friends Hawaiian Poke as a good lead w/ a high rating & relatively healthier fare for takeout. Walking in, it's a bright & clean space. Service ordering at the counter was friendly & patient as I looked over the menu. I eventually zeroed in on the Zesty Flavored Salmon under the Specials/ Rice Bowls. It didn't take long. Handing me the packed to-go container, I immediately noticed its heft. There was a lot of food crammed in there. As soon as I was back in my room, I peeled open the lid to get at the goodies inside. My 1st observation was that there was lot of salmon. A bunch of fresh veggies too. For being on the menu as a rice bowl, there was exactly the right amount of rice underneath everything else. This definitely was not a case of too much rice being added as an empty calories filler. All in all, it was quite tasty. Indeed, even zesty. & enormously filling. Just a massive bowl of delicious salmon/ veg/ rice w/ a sauce that tied it all together. In this economy, Good Friends Hawaiian Poke is a great value. Whenever I'm hungry in Downtown Davis, I'll be back.

But I ended up going again with a friend and decided to try something different, and I am so glad I did. I got the ahi tuna and salmon, and I fell in love. I used to be one of those people who would not eat raw fish, but after trying their poke, that completely changed for me. Now I always go for the bomb salmon and tuna and add my own toppings, and it is so good every time. The flavors are fresh, well balanced, and just hit in a way the cooked option never did for me. Overall, I am really glad I gave this place a second chance because it completely changed my perspective. If you are unsure about raw fish like I was, I definitely recommend trying it here.

We got there right at opening and the server/hostess, Aurora, greeted us with a warm smile and welcome. There are two choices of spots to sit at - low tables/booths or high top tables with stools. We opted for a low table. I ordered the Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese sandwich with sweet potato fries and my friend ordered the Chinichurri Tri-Tip sandwich with a side salad. When our meals came out, we were pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes! I feel like I had a lot of fries on my plate and the sandwich was stuffed with meat! The side salad and tri-tip was pretty hefty too. My sandwich was DELICIOUS! I was only able to eat half so I left with half for lunch the next day. My friend was the same. On the recommendation of the counter staff, I ordered the Chicken Breast Classic sandwich, and I ordered fries with no salt (that's a dietary thing, and a secret way to get fries straight out of the fryer). As noted from other reviewers, the "sourdough" roll is shaped as a round bun which is not as I thought it would arrive. It also didn't have a traditional sourdough tang or texture. It was good, but not very sourdough. Expectations vs. reality. The service was fast and friendly, the restaurant was clean, parking was easy, and I feel like my meal was priced appropriately. My wife used the restroom while I waited near the entrance. Once we both walked in the manager (around 6'2", beard), from behind the counter told us very abruptly: "If you want to order anything it has to be to go, because we close in 10 minutes. If you want fries, order them now because they take 10 minutes to make." The way this was communicated was not professional or welcoming--it came across as rude and dismissive. There was no greeting, just a sharp directive. Despite this, we went ahead and placed a to‑go order for a tri‑tip sandwich and a Greek salad and paid. I completely understand that businesses have closing times and need to clean and wrap up for the night. That's reasonable. What's not reasonable is speaking to long‑time customers, or any customer, in such an unkind, abrupt manner. A little courtesy goes a long way. Because of this experience, we won't be returning. But that should not distract from the yummy Mediterranean food that you can find at Shah's. It's totally worth the hassle with finding a place to park. The interior is on a smaller side, only few tables inside, and the ordering is at the counter. Pick an option from the menu-either a wrap or platter-and the friendly staff will make it in front of you. You just add stuff to it as you go. Think of it as a Middle Eastern Subway or a Chipotle. For the meat options they offer chicken or lamb, but there is also falafel and fish options for those with different dietary needs. We tried both the chicken and lamb, in gyro and platter form. The portions at Shah's are very generous and you can make it even more filling by adding more condiments and toppings to it. Warning: the spicy sauce is actually spicy, not "American spicy", so take that into mind when ordering. I also noticed Shah's also carries burgers and sides such as fries or chicken nuggets, but we did not try that on this visit. For filling and quick meal, Shah's is (still) one of the best options in town. It is great that they're open late and now have a brick-and-mortar presence, so we don't have to wonder where the truck will be parked.
