Sandwiches consistently disappoint. Doesn't seem to be much love or effort put into them considering the price. The burrito was teeny which makes sense since it was only $5 but the tortilla was so gelatinous, it was difficult to eat. Little toasting or better quality tortillas can go a long way. Sad. We're going here for 10 plus years...back then it was really good. People there were very nice and attentive. We often saw Jill there and she was great. We no longer go there regularly and people change which happen...but they aren't the most attentive people now. I come here for coffee or snack after park but they often have a long line.....and server at the counter were chatty and often ignoring the long line. Also, some customers don't have good manners. Just ignore the long line behind you and take time to decide what to drink/eat/change your mind..etc... Last thing, the rug at the kids area need to be changed or removed. I really hope that nothing ever happens to Cloud City, or else I would be stuck without an excellent place to sit and enjoy a big slice of coffee cake and the neighborhood vibes. My favorite quirk about this place is their tiny library, housed inside a telephone booth. A great repurposing of something that's positively ancient in the era of cellphones. My only complaint may be that, on busy mornings, your food may get lost among the orders. But on the one occasion it happened to me, someone noticed I had been waiting a while without food, and happily/apologetically fixed it ASAP! read more

I ordered an iced matcha latte with almond milk and received a super chunky matcha latte. Not only was I having to bite on chunks of matcha, but the matcha also has a very bland taste to it. Would not recommend a matcha here, I'm unsure about their other drinks. read more

This is my favorite coffee place in Seattle. Whenever I tell people this, they often reply that they love it too. Their coffee is just so good, and the employees are friendly. They also have a punch card where you can buy a certain amount of drinks and get one for free. I love going to Cloud City and then walking across the street to Maple Leaf Park. They also have a great outdoor seating area which allows dogs. I've been to a lot of coffee places in Seattle, and this place makes me incredibly happy. I love coming here with friends. read more

I love this little coffee shop!!! They make great coffee drinks but what's even greater are their baked goods...OMG!! I live nearby so I walk there to treat myself to some goodies. This is a cute little coffee and breakfast shop that was full of neighbors and great staff. Cloud City Coffee also sells beans sourced and roasted locally and had a pretty decent egg and cheese sandwich. It's very basic breakfast but good quality, my coworker grabbed a croissant which was fluffy and flaky. I ordered a maple leap latte that went great with my sandwich and it had a really subtle maple sugar taste that threaded throughout. I REALLY wish coffee shops down here sold something similar but I suspect it was the top ingredients that made the latte awesome. The one issue we had was parking... the small lot had no stripes and the street parking was already packed by 0700hrs. People just parked wherever they wanted in the small lot which made it really confusing. They should stripe it and enforce for safety reasons. Or plan on walking a bit. read more

I just moved to the neighborhood about a month ago and Cloud City instantly became my new coffee shop. I would order my iced espresso and number one breakfast sandwich and head to work. Back story I worked in a coffee shop for 7 years. Lattes have way to much milk for me and Americanos are too watery. So I drink espresso over ice, add some syrup for a bit of sweetness and top it off with some cream. Not only was my drink mocked the other day when I ordered it I was given the worst look. I had never felt so embarrassed. Coming from a world where people want half caff and 1.25 pumps of sugar free vanilla and for you to stir a drink counter clock wise and not shake it, my little espresso order in a medium size cup with white chocolate seemed like no big deal. But I felt like a complete idiot. Regardless I came in the next day and was told I could no longer get my drink in a medium sized cup. That they had 'revisited the policy' (since yesterday) with a side smirk and felt even smaller than I did before. I was only allowed to drink espresso in a small cup. With no reason. No explanation. I wish I hadn't returned. I get people try to cheat the system pour way too much cream and not get charged or some how make it cheaper than an americano and I don't even know if that's the reason but it's the only one I could think of that made me feel MY drink was not allowed and it wasn't me personally they didn't want to serve.... whatever it may be, charge me for cream, charge me for a bigger cup, charge me for the ice. Explain your reasoning instead of making me feel like a complete loser. Instead cloud city lost a customer. read more

Visited from Boston for 3 weeks and came here several times a week, almost everyday really. Great coffee, iced coffee and espresso. Loved the smoothies and bagels as well. Great breakfast sandwiches and quiche. I liked the day old pastry items they had out for a buck on the honor system. Really cool spot next to the Maple Leaf Park. I'm only semi-apologetically revealing that my reluctance to enter this place had a lot to do with the typeface they use on the sign, which has all the properties I disparage in Comic Sans, and the connotations as well. Just as the font Papyrus suggests one is a Licensed Massage Therapist or a Wiccan or is trying to suggest ancient biblical documents which weren't even composed in the Roman alphabet ANYWAY...well. Comic Sans and its sickening entourage of similar gummy, overly unctuous typefaces suggest a grody kind of homeyness, and unconsciously I must expect to see porcelain collectibles lining the shelves, or kitchen cow accoutrements, or cat things, or--worse--Sunday school decor. I realize that's a lot to pin on a typeface. I plead designer. But never mind all that; their bad typeface is the only thing they got wrong here. Inside is neither hokey nor overly designed, it's well heated and smilingly staffed, and their coconut bread is damn good. Also, props for not forcing me down Soy Alley just because dairy and I have agreed to disagree. They also offer rice milk (gah!) and almond milk (waves foam hand) to the lactotalers. Big props for their daily drip one-dollah honor bar. Come on foot; parking is a farce. Though plenty of motorists in the immediate area seem to revel in having found an alternate use for the sidewalks. read more

My student thought it was a bit too loud to do our work,but that aside,its a nice well run coffee joint with a pleasant staff and a nice community feeling. Wow, how trite. Typical "Seattle Freeze", "Holier Than Thou" attitudes. I had the nerve to be a first time customer and they treated me like an idiot because I didn't know that they have two kinds of breakfast burrito or that you fill up your drip coffee on the other side of the cafe. They gave me some steamed, limp excuse for a burrito and later when I finished the mediocre crap I looked around at several other "regulars" (I would assume) and they had burritos that had been grilled to perfection. Perhaps I was supposed to request this but I did say I had never been there before so they should have told me that I have that option. The dude that worked there was a dork with some Flock of Seagulls hairdo who probably grew up in Monroe and is getting a huge chub that he is a city-guy now. The only good thing is good drip coffee for a dollar. I ended up leaving to find a different place I was so turned off and found a wonderful place in The Blue Saucer down the street. read more

I stopped in here early and added a piece of the most amazing Chocolate cake for take out with my coffee order. It was the first slice cut. I am usually not a big cake fan but it was calling out to me. I had it boxed up to save and snack on throughout the day. It didn't make it home. I mascaraed the poor defenseless cake. All that ran through my mind as I was driving home was CLOSER. It began with the Nine Inch Nails song. It was sitting in a box on the passenger side seat and I could smell it. I want to eat you like an animal I want to feel you on my insides I want to eat you like an animal My whole diet is flawed You get me closer to God Then as I stopped at a light and opened the box I pulled out the plastic fork I little bite and then Neyo's Closer was playing in my head. And I just cant pull my self away under its spell I cant break I just cant stop and I just cant bring my self away but I don't want to escape I just cant stop I can feel it on my lips I can taste it on my tongue Its the sweetest taste of sin The more I get the more I want It wants to own me Come closer I just cant stop I had to force myself to eat slow. I have been coming here for years and years at this point and realized that I haven't ever written a review. Cue a super thorough, from the heart review: I have recommended it since my first visit, to friends, family, and random people and will rave about it if the topic of best coffee shops/cafes comes up. And it always deserves the praise. Cloud City Coffee has great character and charm. It can be super chill or super cozy. The food and coffee are consistently great and I have never had a bad bite to eat here. They seem to perfectly fit into the sparsely populated niche of places with both great coffee and great food at great prices. Seems like most coffee places either have outstanding coffee but mediocre bites, or amazing food but only eh coffee. Cloud City Coffee easily excels at both. And that makes it somewhat of a rare gem. The range of food is quite good, in both sweet and savory categories. Nearly every day, they have four to six different kinds of quiche or frittatas (it's a mix of the two, so take note on the signs of which is which) and four to six kinds of pies and coffeecake. They do build your own sandwiches (with a breakfast version until the eggs are gone), as well as having a bit of a rotating menu of other sandwiches. Some are only available once or twice a week. Looking at you, tomato and basil egg salad. (I am marginally annoyed by that, but only because it's my favorite egg salad sandwich I've had in a long while, outside of what I make, and it tends to go fast) They have Tony's coffee here, which happens to be one of my favorite roasters. And if you like lattes and the like, their foam is luscious. A super silky microfoam that, in a flavored drink, picks up enough flavor that the foam is a delight. But even on a plain latte, it's really nice regardless. Love it. I've been coming here for years, and another thing I appreciate is the people that work here. It's a coffee place, so of course there are new people that come through, but in my experience the people here try their hardest to make this place welcoming and a good place to be. They're hard working and a delight. And I definitely appreciate them. Things I recommend: * The iced Medici mocha (especially in summer), it's a great combo of chocolate and orange that pairs will with their espresso. * The Cuban sandwich. It's messy messy (ask for super toasted bread, so it can stand up better to the juices!), but it's a tasty, spicy mess. *The pulled pork or brisket sandwich with their espresso sauce. Super good. *A tomato basil egg salad sandwich (at the time of writing, they tend to be available on Sunday/Monday and Wednesday) *Pretty much any of their pies. Especially the fruit ones, hot, with a bit of ice cream (when they have it, sometimes they're out) Okay, after all that praise, I guess I should balance it with a couple cons. *Cloud City is pretty busy at times and can get kind of loud inside. Personally, the noise doesn't bother me. I tend to use the noise to help focus on doing art or stuff, but it can be annoying if you're sensitive to too much noise. There is an outdoor seating area, weather permitting to your liking, but it is an option for quieter eating, if the inside is too much. *There's some parking, but it's tight and not lined, so if you do find a spot, be courteous and be a bit snug, so more can park. But parking is often full, so you gotta do street parking. Cloud City is on a corner nestled by a lot of however-long-you-want, residential street parking, though, so it's not usually awful trying to find parking. It can just be a little annoying. *It's located in a fairly young neighborhood, meaning families with young children, so sometimes there's just a lot of little ones there, which can add to the loud quite easily. But those are pretty minor cons, in my book. Cloud City Coffee is definitely, hands down, my favorite coffee shop in Seattle and I can't recommend it enough. If you plan to check it out, I might recommend a first visit be on a weekday, either before lunch starts, or shortly after 10pm. So you can get a feel for things without a line immediately. It can be super duper busy on the weekends, which can be a bummer, so yeah, weekdays would probably be a good time to explore them as a first visit. Check it out. read more

Coffee is just a part of my personality. Without it, I don't feel complete. I had never been to Cloud City before but any establishment that sells my fuel is worth a visit to me. I thoroughly enjoyed my double shot coconut mocha. I got it non-sugar free which is a rarity nowadays, but I was feeling quite saucy that day. The espresso was perfectly brewed, when it isn't you can taste it- it's either way too strong or acrid or tastes burned. These two shots were brewed immaculately. The chocolate was the perfect proportion to the coconut, which was not overdone at all. Sometimes, too much of the coconut syrup can make your drink taste like the scent of tanning lotion. Not this drink. It was very well balanced and I sucked it down like it was my lifeblood. And super affordable. My drink and my friends' drink cost under 6 dollars. Unheard of in the land of corporate coffee shop. It was a cool, inviting neighborhood coffee shop. And I hear that there is coconut bread? Oh yeah. I will definitely be back again. read more

When I was in Seattle looking for a place to live, I stopped by Cloud City Coffee... and instantly made it a de-facto "base of operations" for shopping for rentals. Its cozy atmosphere and delicious food was part of why I fell in love with the neighborhood surrounding it, and while you may be like "well that's great and all, but HOW IS THE FOOD" relax, I'm getting to that. The coffee - how does a big cup of good brew for 91 cents sound? Same for tea. Also, the best chai ever - either spicy or sweet (go for sweet!). About a HOJILLION types of quiche - all of them delicious - soups that are warm and tasty (and pretty much always with a vegan/vegetarian option!), and coconut bread that's like eating a sweet slice of cloud sprinkled with unicorn giggles. Big soft couches, tables ideal for laptops, and a bright, cheery atmosphere. ...So it's not as fun when it's crowded, which is frequently, or when there are kids there (LOUD LITTLE MONSTERS) which is often, as the place is pretty kid-friendly. But if you get a good seat, hold onto it like it's the last spot on the last chopper out of Saigon, and get yourself a quiche and some coffee, and nom on some coconut bread and tell yourself calories are imaginary, and probably made up by a wizard or something. GOD I wish this place didn't close at 6 PM. But if you can make it, GO. read more

Cloud City is awesome! I went after work today to meet a friend. She suggested it - I have never been before. They had all of the walls/windows up, so that the space was open air. I had some scrumptious passion fruit cheesecake.I had no idea there was such a thing, but its deeelish! Also a tasty Highland Chai iced tea. Yum! The music was great, and the baristas were really nice, making suggestions and giving me time to decide. I did not try it today, but they have $1 tea and coffee. The Theo Mocha here is on point - it's super chocolaty and has velvety foam alla uptown. They also have a decent selection of syrups and seasonal drinks. My only complaint would be that is closes soo soon - but they make up for it with a happy hour (1$ off coffee) the two hours before close. read more

The breakfast sandwiches ranged from $3.25-$4.50 for 1 topping, 2 toppings, 3 toppings, or adding a croissant instead of an English muffin. Their breakfast burritos are the smallest I've seen! I ordered the breakfast sandwich on an English muffin with egg and cheese. Sorry to say it's in the running for the worst breakfast sandwich I have had. First of all, very tiny. The cheese was melted all over the sides of the sandwich and the egg was very overcooked. And for $4! I felt robbed that I was charged that for a measly overcooked sandwich that has about 75 cents worth of ingredients in it. However, friendly faces and cute shop.
