I visited in January and Yelp has been nudging me to leave this review, so here I am, mainly because I was so put off by my visit here most recently. My sister and I wanted to have an afternoon drink one weekday and so we figured we would stop by here. Shortly after, our parents also joined us. Suddenly, it started pouring buckets, so we kind of got stuck here. No big deal right? Wrong! We decide to order food and some more drinks since we are stuck. The thing that really annoyed me the most was the "complimentary extras" on two of the many appetizers that we ordered to share. We order the wings and the nachos. The waitress "threw in" beef on our nachos and celery, carrot, blue cheese, and ranch for our wings. Awesome right? No. When they bill came she charged us for all the "complimentary extras" that she added on her own. The reason why it really bugs me is because we spent close to $300 here during torrential downpour when barely any other patrons were there. There was no need to add all that extra and charge us for things we didn't ask for. I honestly just paid the bill with no question because I didn't want any bad vibes. The Clevelander is a pretty cool bar that really gives you that South Beach vibe. The area of the outdoor bar is unique with fun lighting and that retro font. There are two bars, a pool, and lots of seating. I happened to go on a few days where it was cold- so I really appreciated the heat lamps they had all around. On my first visit, I ordered the frozen pina colada- which was a huge waste of money. There was zero alcohol in it which was so uncool considering it was expensive. It really bummed me out, so I stayed away from their frozen drinks and stuck to the beer specials for the rest of the trip. So how did they still earn 4 stars with me? Their pizza! It was such a awesome surprise and I really can't recommend trying it enough! When I ordered it- I really wasn't expecting something that would delight my taste buds. But by golly was it good! I purposely ate it really slow, just so that I had more time to enjoy it. The pizza was drizzled with a balsamic sauce and it was really out of this world. I'm hankering to find something similar home in NYC now. The servers were generally friendly and they had good music playing. Being so close to the beach is pretty rad too. If I could give less then a 1 I would. We had to beg for a waitress on a Monday night who didn't understand that we wanted to pay cash right away and close bill. She never came back at all. A 21% service fee for no service is ridiculous. I am a bartender and I understand if it was busy. It wasn't busy at all and there were multiple Workers everywhere. I was craving a piece of key lime pie and was happy to see they had a "famous" key lime pie on the menu. I took a seat at the bar and asked the bartender if they have key lime pie. She nodded yes, so I ordered a beer and a piece of key lime pie. As she was pouring the beer, she says, "We don't have key lime pie." I said are you sure, the menu outside says you do. Absolutely the worse service for drinks and eats. Security folks at the entrance having people lift their shirts (woman included) above their belly is laughable. Meanwhile you could have a weapon in your back or ankle and never have it detected. Security folks are a joke and rude to customers. Waitress for our table during a slow time was horrible, meanwhile, you have three bartenders all on their cell phones while customers are waiting to be served. The atmosphere was great, really fun vibe from the DJ and lights. The bouncers were super nice as we came in. But unfortunately on a slower evening the 2 bartenders took an excessively long time to get to me and my sister to get drinks. So much so that we were skipped over as new people kept coming and going from the bar. A man had even left the bar without a drink because they took so long to get to him. After getting our drinks, we sat at a high top table to dance and drink. Great music. But probably about 30 minutes in a server came over and was trying to rudely explain that we couldn't sit there unless we ordered through her. At this point we already had drinks and weren't ready for another. So we got up to dance next to the tables instead. We thought problem solved. But nope, then she came over and started dragging a table directly at us without even saying anything or asking us to politely move. We stayed at this hotel and also attempted to hang out at the bar/pool. The hotel room is small & cozy but it does the trick and was clean. The front desk hotel staff were so rude. They were very busy the day we came though so we tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. Now... the pool staff is just ridiculous. They all tell you a different story regarding the cover charge and where you can sit. Also they automatically charge you 20% tip on your bill so none of their servers try. Hands down I would definitely recommend this hotel. Two hotel attendees who were the ABSOLUTE BEST Krissy and Michelle. Krissy took great care of me and my 2 girls as we arrived at 1:30am on a late flight. Michelle welcomed us with strawberry daiquiris. And Krissy was so nice to us as we returned from our cruise 4 days later, she allowed us to keep out luggages there for 3hrs until it was time for us to head to the airport....Michelle & Krissy ARE THE BEST!...I will definitely stay at the Clevelander again.​ read more

We have made lemonade out of lemons!! Hotel is super old, super outdated and super sad in every way possible!! We decided to make the best out of our five night stay and make our room a cute boutique look while spending under $200... so worth it!!! Bar review only. My friends and I came here on a busy Saturday night because most places were packed and the Clevelander had no line. We had to pay a $10/pp cover which seemed steep. I really enjoyed the open air bar right on Ocean Drive. There are 2 bars and a dance floor with a Dj that was playing music that was fun to dance to. The bartenders were not friendly and at one point the female was blatantly ignoring my friend even though she was not drunk and had done nothing wrong. We enjoyed their Famous Frozens, since they were a perfect refresher on a hot night. I had the Raging Bull which is New Amsterdam vodka blended with Red Bull. You can add a floater (shot) on top for an extra $2. I give them props for the drinks being strong. The Clevelander is not a bad place to stop in and hang out for a while, if you don't expect friendly service. read more

It's been a while since I've been at The Clevelander, and some things never change (in a good way.) You can always count on their being a great vibe, music playing, and drinks flowing here. My BF and I came for lunch on a Thursday afternoon around 4pm. Luckily, happy hour was underway (4-7pm) and included drinks and certain bites. I opted for a Miami Vice and he got an Electric Lemonade (both $7 on HH!) and we also got the calamari and (chicken) Street tacos. These were on the HH menu so $10 a piece and very delicious! As if that wasn't enough we ordered the Hot Chicken Sandwich and BBQ Chicken Pizza. I was pretty impressed at how well the food was for a place infamous for being a hot spot. Oftentimes places will slack in one department, and focus on others, but that was not the place during our visit. Andrew was our server and from the moment we walked in he was pleasant, cheerful, and helped us pick drinks bc there were so many tempting options. This place is probably one of the most notable places on Ocean Bar. It's a large outdoor eatery/outdoor club located in the heart of South Beach. I remember years back walking by this place and seeing a huge party going on, lots of people in the pool, music blasting--- and this was during the daytime! I made it a point of emphasis to come here on my most recent visit to Miami. The left side was for people who wanted to attend the club portion and the right side was patrons who wanted to eat. I had the perfect seat which wasn't exactly Street level, but still was able to people watch and enjoy the sights. The service was ok, the waitress wasn't very attentive and would disappear for long periods of time. The food was ok, and nothing spectacular, but that was fine. I didn't exactly come here and expect to be blown away by their food. We ordered a burger and fries and steak with potatoes and asparagus. Despite the food being average at best; I still had a great time, enjoyed the sights, the music, and overall atmosphere. I also forgot my credit card after I paid my bill here-- I called the next afternoon, they informed me they did have my card and I could retrieve from the front desk of the hotel-- disaster averted by locating my card while on vacation. In short, I believe if you're in the South Beach area, this is a must do on one evening during your stay. read more

This is the place to be if you're looking for a great, outdoor, Miami Beach party. Whether you're day drinking or partying at night, the Clevelander is centralized on the Miami Beach strip and is probably the best place to party without getting dressed up. Keep in mind, prices for drinks are overpriced and your bill can rack up pretty quickly. Customer service was pretty good for the most part. We only encountered one rude server. However the manager was incredibly sweet, immediately apologized and made up for the rude customer service by offering us free shots and made sure we were treated nicely the rest of our weekend. The hotel itself was not very impressive. It is an older hotel with not a lot to offer on the inside. The rooms are small but clean. If you're on the strip to party, then the rooms won't bother you because you'll be out and about and have the convenience of being in the middle of the action. Again, you're paying for location not for quality. read more

You don't have to stay at the hotel to go to this bar. You can enter from the beach side. There is no charge to get in, but be advised. There is a 21% SURCHARGE! Don't go on a windy day, or a low temperature day. It just takes away from the experience. The 16oz drinks are $17, the 45oz drinks are $40, and if you add a floater, it's $2. You can have a sample of the drink you want. To me, the sample taste better than the main drink. I almost paid $40 altogether for a Miami Vice, & a Colado drink. They were very weak. Friends and I were visiting Miami and stumbled across The Clevelander the last night we were in town. It was a Wednesday night and while there was a good number of people out and about, several other establishments nearby were closing up and we were in the mood for some fun. There wasn't a cover here and it looked like a poppin' spot, so we went with it. After having our ID's checked, we went straight to the bar and ordered a round of drinks. Two beers and two liquor drinks plus tip ended us around seventy bucks. I was caught off guard at first and then I remembered where I was. We decided to grab a small hightop table near the dance floor and got lost in good conversation and great music. It didn't take long before we were all on the dance floor. We never got in the pool, but it was still a site to see and definitely set the mood. We stuck around for about an hour or two before adventuring off to other spots. I definitely glad that we checked it out and I would go back as long as that was the mood I was in. Pro tip - I hear the happy hour is where it's at! If you're in the area, definitely look that up. This review is for the bar and not for the hotel. I was here on a weeknight. It wasn't terribly packed, although there was no games on. I was always curious about the bar (and hotel) since ESPN's Highly Questionable is aired out of the hotel - one of the reasons you see the ESPN Studios screen. They have mutliple bars outside along with a stage to dance and a pool. The bartenders were pretty nice and ended up giving me and my buddy a free daiquiri near the end of the night. All in all, I'd probably come back here maybe if I'm back in Miami and there's a major game. I did a google search of adults only hotels in South Beach and the Clevelander came up. I went through the whole website, read everything about it and thought this may work for us. I paid $463 for a Rockstar Suite for our anniversary. When we arrived all the streets around the hotel were closed and they had no valet. We sclepped our luggage down 10th to Ocean Avenue to checkin. We paid $60 for parking in a garage around the corner. When we checked in we were charged an addl $10 that was apparently left off when I originally booked the room. Ok. Our room was over the pool. I did not request this. Nowhere on the website did it say that music plays constantly at ridiculous volumes all night. Thank God for AirPods and white noise machines because otherwise we would be rocking and crying ourselves to sleep all night. We decided to humor ourselves and go to the on-site bar and paid $19 a piece for watered down margaritas that were supposed to be doubles. All in all horrible experience. There were several light bulbs out, flashing lights, a popping sound from the TV every time we changed the channel, and no fridge in the room. There weren't even plastic cups for water. Unless you like continuous loud music and zero amenities, I strongly discourage this hotel. read more

stayed here late may of 2021 for a bachelorette - overall, the rooms were small but the location of the hotel is prime! it was near everything we wanted to experience (swizzle, versace villa, palace, hyde, the beach) we thought there would be "pool parties" but the pool was filthy and trash was always floating in it and never cleaned the bar was fun though and the food was your average bar food. definitely stay here if you want to be in a central location of miami beach but i wouldn't come here to drink, there's definitely more fun bars/pool bars in the area read more
