I visited in January and Yelp has been nudging me to leave this review, so here I am, mainly because I was so put off by my visit here most recently. My sister and I wanted to have an afternoon drink one weekday and so we figured we would stop by here. Shortly after, our parents also joined us. Suddenly, it started pouring buckets, so we kind of got stuck here. No big deal right? Wrong! We decide to order food and some more drinks since we are stuck. The thing that really annoyed me the most was the "complimentary extras" on two of the many appetizers that we ordered to share. We order the wings and the nachos. The waitress "threw in" beef on our nachos and celery, carrot, blue cheese, and ranch for our wings. Awesome right? No. When they bill came she charged us for all the "complimentary extras" that she added on her own. The reason why it really bugs me is because we spent close to $300 here during torrential downpour when barely any other patrons were there. Bar review only. My friends and I came here on a busy Saturday night because most places were packed and the Clevelander had no line. We had to pay a $10/pp cover which seemed steep. I really enjoyed the open air bar right on Ocean Drive. There are 2 bars and a dance floor with a Dj that was playing music that was fun to dance to. The bartenders were not friendly and at one point the female was blatantly ignoring my friend even though she was not drunk and had done nothing wrong. We enjoyed their Famous Frozens, since they were a perfect refresher on a hot night. I had the Raging Bull which is New Amsterdam vodka blended with Red Bull. You can add a floater (shot) on top for an extra $2. I give them props for the drinks being strong. The Clevelander is not a bad place to stop in and hang out for a while, if you don't expect friendly service. read more

It's been a while since I've been at The Clevelander, and some things never change (in a good way.) You can always count on their being a great vibe, music playing, and drinks flowing here. My BF and I came for lunch on a Thursday afternoon around 4pm. Luckily, happy hour was underway (4-7pm) and included drinks and certain bites. I opted for a Miami Vice and he got an Electric Lemonade (both $7 on HH!) and we also got the calamari and (chicken) Street tacos. These were on the HH menu so $10 a piece and very delicious! As if that wasn't enough we ordered the Hot Chicken Sandwich and BBQ Chicken Pizza. I was pretty impressed at how well the food was for a place infamous for being a hot spot. Oftentimes places will slack in one department, and focus on others, but that was not the place during our visit. Andrew was our server and from the moment we walked in he was pleasant, cheerful, and helped us pick drinks bc there were so many tempting options. This place is probably one of the most notable places on Ocean Bar. It's a large outdoor eatery/outdoor club located in the heart of South Beach. I remember years back walking by this place and seeing a huge party going on, lots of people in the pool, music blasting--- and this was during the daytime! I made it a point of emphasis to come here on my most recent visit to Miami. The left side was for people who wanted to attend the club portion and the right side was patrons who wanted to eat. I had the perfect seat which wasn't exactly Street level, but still was able to people watch and enjoy the sights. The service was ok, the waitress wasn't very attentive and would disappear for long periods of time. The food was ok, and nothing spectacular, but that was fine. I didn't exactly come here and expect to be blown away by their food. We ordered a burger and fries and steak with potatoes and asparagus. Despite the food being average at best; I still had a great time, enjoyed the sights, the music, and overall atmosphere. I also forgot my credit card after I paid my bill here-- I called the next afternoon, they informed me they did have my card and I could retrieve from the front desk of the hotel-- disaster averted by locating my card while on vacation. This is the place to be if you're looking for a great, outdoor, Miami Beach party. Whether you're day drinking or partying at night, the Clevelander is centralized on the Miami Beach strip and is probably the best place to party without getting dressed up. Keep in mind, prices for drinks are overpriced and your bill can rack up pretty quickly. Customer service was pretty good for the most part. We only encountered one rude server. However the manager was incredibly sweet, immediately apologized and made up for the rude customer service by offering us free shots and made sure we were treated nicely the rest of our weekend. The hotel itself was not very impressive. It is an older hotel with not a lot to offer on the inside. The rooms are small but clean. If you're on the strip to party, then the rooms won't bother you because you'll be out and about and have the convenience of being in the middle of the action. You don't have to stay at the hotel to go to this bar. You can enter from the beach side. There is no charge to get in, but be advised. There is a 21% SURCHARGE! Don't go on a windy day, or a low temperature day. It just takes away from the experience. The 16oz drinks are $17, the 45oz drinks are $40, and if you add a floater, it's $2. You can have a sample of the drink you want. To me, the sample taste better than the main drink. I almost paid $40 altogether for a Miami Vice, & a Colado drink. They were very weak. Friends and I were visiting Miami and stumbled across The Clevelander the last night we were in town. It was a Wednesday night and while there was a good number of people out and about, several other establishments nearby were closing up and we were in the mood for some fun. There wasn't a cover here and it looked like a poppin' spot, so we went with it. After having our ID's checked, we went straight to the bar and ordered a round of drinks. Two beers and two liquor drinks plus tip ended us around seventy bucks. I was caught off guard at first and then I remembered where I was. We decided to grab a small hightop table near the dance floor and got lost in good conversation and great music. It didn't take long before we were all on the dance floor. We never got in the pool, but it was still a site to see and definitely set the mood. We stuck around for about an hour or two before adventuring off to other spots. I definitely glad that we checked it out and I would go back as long as that was the mood I was in. Pro tip - I hear the happy hour is where it's at! If you're in the area, definitely look that up. This review is for the hotel only. I stayed at the Clevelander south beach hotel. I stayed up late the night before until 3am because that is what you do here, it's about the night life. In the morning I was trying to sleep but the hallway outside my room was extremely loud with room service, staff walkie talkies, and most of all, the slamming of doors. Every 2 seconds I can hear a door slam. I finally got up and had to look to see the reason. It is housekeeping. I have stayed at hundreds of hotels in my lifetime and staff are usually aware of keeping noise levels down for patrons, including using door stoppers and closing doors slowly. Not here. I as I write this the doors have slammed 20 times more, VERY loudly. It's nerve wracking, even when awake. I don't want to complain about this because housekeeping is a very hard job that doesn't pay well, and the staff are lovely. But the noise level is ridiculous and this is a management issue. In addition to the noise, the other issue is the room is small and sparse. There is no carpet in the rooms so maybe that adds to the noise issue. When I first walked into my room I was overwhelmed with the smell of chemicals from floor cleaner and there is no way to open the windows to air it out. I'm a single woman traveling alone and the hotel door did not have an internal lock nor was there a "privacy" sign available. I felt very vulnerable and was worried staff would walk in on me during the time they turn the rooms over. Bathroom is teeny, no tub. Just bare basics. Bed is comfy. No bed lamps, coffee maker or ice container in the room. They do have a safe and a small tv. I asked for a late check out and they told me they could let me check out only one hour later for an additional $75.00 fee!!! Overall, a rather unpleasant hotel experience read more

I was always curious about the bar (and hotel) since ESPN's Highly Questionable is aired out of the hotel - one of the reasons you see the ESPN Studios screen. They have mutliple bars outside along with a stage to dance and a pool. The bartenders were pretty nice and ended up giving me and my buddy a free daiquiri near the end of the night. I did a google search of adults only hotels in South Beach and the Clevelander came up. I went through the whole website, read everything about it and thought this may work for us. I paid $463 for a Rockstar Suite for our anniversary. When we arrived all the streets around the hotel were closed and they had no valet. We sclepped our luggage down 10th to Ocean Avenue to checkin. We paid $60 for parking in a garage around the corner. When we checked in we were charged an addl $10 that was apparently left off when I originally booked the room. Ok. Our room was over the pool. I did not request this. Nowhere on the website did it say that music plays constantly at ridiculous volumes all night. Thank God for AirPods and white noise machines because otherwise we would be rocking and crying ourselves to sleep all night. We decided to humor ourselves and go to the on-site bar and paid $19 a piece for watered down margaritas that were supposed to be doubles. All in all horrible experience. There were several light bulbs out, flashing lights, a popping sound from the TV every time we changed the channel, and no fridge in the room. There weren't even plastic cups for water. Unless you like continuous loud music and zero amenities, I strongly discourage this hotel. read more
