Our server was running around like a chicken with her head cut off. However she managed to keep up with out party of 9. There were times we were waiting for assistance however we could see she wasn't just sitting on her ass. We order burgers, flat breads, tenders and steak tacos. Steak tacos were horrible Burgers were delicious Flatbread were good Tenders definitely looked like they were frozen tenders from the grocer. The beverages were nice not too strong but not weak. We were kinda profiled however as a black person you get use to it. My husband and brother stepped out for a smoke break..although everyone else was still seated at the table. We watched security run out after them. We laughed cause they looked stupid. I wanted to write this place off as a touristy haunt given its location and its typical South Beach prices, but we had a really good experience here. I realized that I had not actually been to this location since it was The Playwright (or whatever it was called) 4 or 5 years ago. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The updated interior is nice - very "pubby" - and they offer a good variety of seating from bar seats to high-tops to couches.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Two things here that were standouts: First, the burger is one of the best burgers I've had on South Beach. So much so that I'm craving it again this morning. They've done a good job with the menu in that it still has all those bar foods that you look for in a place like this, but they've put some thought into elevating a number of items (e.g. the short rib poutine!) Second, the service was great. Our server (sorry, can't remember his name - a nice guy from Kendall) was very friendly and provided excellent service. Although my most recent stop was Saturday Night for a Washington Avenue pubcrawl, looking through the pictures I realize I'd been at Mickey Burkes more than a few times whether after a Miami Music Week show or Food & Wine Fest after party. Gratuity of 20% is automatically charged to the bill and there's a 2% resort tax... even though this is not a hotel... guess it's a Miami Beach thing. Went for the NBA playoffs with a few friends and had a really good time. Hello Mickey. Don't upcharge for Woodford or Bulleit. This is Mickey Mouse! It's crazy to charge $24 for Manhattan or old fashioned with these common liquor brands. You guys don't even smoke your old fashioned. Not even Swizzle or Sylvester is charging $24 for such cocktails and they make better drinks. I like coming here because it's chill and reasonable but not this visit. I've been here many times and this is probably the last. The bartenders need to disclose if there's an upcharge and not take advantage of local Miami residents. I've ordered Manhattans and old fashioned here before and it's normally around $16 or 17. Mickey Burkers just opened recently in South Beach but it feels like it has been there forever. It's a small chain but you definitely can't tell inside. Weather you're a local or a visitor, you are welcomed with hospitality. Inside is a pretty efficient layout. You have the bar stretching the length of the establishment with seating in front with a few different zones attached. Near the entrance you'll see cozy couches and a photo op for Social Media. The rest of the bar is mainly high tops. The bar has just about anything you could want. Draft beer, bottle beer, local craft, wine, alcohol and some house drinks. The house drinks are nicely crafted and infused well. The Lafies First is definitely recommended if you like lavender. It has some gin and prosecco. The highly recommended drink for me is the Down the Corner. Banana infused Angel's Envy. It's garnished with a banana slice. This drink has a lot of depth to it but easy to drink, a must try. There's a good amount of food. Didn't get to try out much, the drinks were the focus. Will definitely come back and try more! read more
