I did not have a good experience. My 2 lined Roman shades had mysterious mold spots on the bottom, which I tried to clean but created water stains instead. Mr. Pruyn assured me he could remove all but returned them with large fluid stains in the top areas from his cleaning. He went over them again but returned them with water stains that were not there before especially along the horizontal ribs. He got a bit hostile towards the end, which was intimidating - I am 80 years old. Yelled at me to "spend my money and fix my door bell (did not know the battery had run out) and to clean my spiders" around the large flood light. None of this is any of his business. Cannot recommend since I spent $440 and now have water/fluid stains that were not there before. read more

We live on Nob Hill San Francisco and Clean Drapes On-Site was recommended to us. Harry came out and since our drapes had severe water stains and mold spots; he said he would have to take them out to his shop to really do the job correctly. I initially hired this company back in 2013 to clean my Hunter Douglas blinds. Harry, the owner, personally came to do the job his work ethic and attitude was EXCELLENT. I was thrilled to see that 11 years later, his company was still in business. That says a lot about his company, when so many others have gone. While his primary business is drapery cleaning (including blinds) they will clean other items on a case by case basis. I hired him to clean my couches and area rugs and once again the results were excellent. Harry cleaned nine sets of Hunter Douglas honeycomb blinds in my Dublin condo. He used scaffolding to reach the 20 FT ceilings. While he was up there, he cleaned the windows and the ceiling fan. I called Harry a few weeks ago to get an idea of how much it would be to clean my cascades. He helped me figure out approximately how much it would be, then he came out and gave me an estimate that was not too far off of what I had figured out. We had our back bathroom painted a week ago. The painter wasn't as careful as he might have been and got some paint on our bedroom drapes. Not much and not bad, but still annoying and it prompted us to think about having our drapes cleaned, which is long overdue anyway. I called Marsh Interiors, who made the drapes years ago. I had a memory that they had sent them out to be cleaned in the past when they needed cleaning. The woman I spoke w/ told me they were no longer working w/ the company they had been (maybe due to retirement) but had a couple of recommendations. When she mentioned Clean Drapes on Site was on Solano that sounded perfect. I didn't even wait for the second recommendation. I trust the folks at Marsh and I also read the Yelp reviews, so I called Harry, who made an appointment to come over and give me a bid. A long ago friend told me the most expensive words in remodeling are "While we're at it...". So we went there. Harry also cleans furniture and blinds and on and on. So we made arrangements for the drapes, the wooden mini blinds in the bathroom, two dining room chairs and the couch to be cleaned. Harry took a look at the drapes, counted the pleats and give me a bid based on the number of pleats. He told me his usual price is $6/ pleat but because our drapes are so short it would be $3/ pleat. He had some misgivings about whether he could get the paint out, but said he would try. He told me the wooden blinds would be more expensive to clean than the metal ones would have been, but it was still reasonable. The couch is long. We try to keep the animals off it but they have had other ideas, so there were some muddy spots and such. It was the most expensive part of the job, but so well worth it. We had the work done today. Harry came w/ a helper, so the work went relatively fast. It took a couple of hours. I LOVE that it could be done here. I also love that there was no nasty chemical smell. I am very pleased w/ the way everything looks, even though the paint remains on the drapes, and I appreciate the way they handled the pieces of art they had to move so carefully and returned everything pretty much to its proper place. I can recommend Harry w/o reservation. All the work they did came to less than $375. He doesn't take credit cards, just checks and, I assume, cash. He sent the bid and the receipt for the work to me by email. No muss, no fuss. read more

I brought my blinds to Harry for restringing in early December 2013. I did not hear back from him for a long time. After I emailed him, he than let me know that he needed to order a different cord for them. Again, a month went by. Still no word. We began having problems with a house full of Hunter-Douglas mini-binds that, although installed only eight years ago, are now discontinued and replacement parts are not available. We first had Harry clean them and fix the lifting mechanisms on quite a few. Later we developed problems with the slat tilting functions on a couple of them. Harry has the patience of a saint and seems to love a challenge. He spent many hours researching on the Internet, making calls to Hunter-Douglas and others, and finally just figuring out through extensive experimentation how to fix all the problems. Throughout the process he was polite, pleasant, and professional. Without his willingness to keep working doggedly until he found solutions we would have had no choice but to purchase new blinds, at much higher cost. On the day of the appt (for which I rearranged my work schedule), he never showed up, and when I called him, he cheerfully and nonchalantly told me he forgot. We rescheduled for a Sunday AM and he called at the time of the appointment to say he was just leaving the East Bay. Fifty minutes later and still no sign of him, so I called to ask for an ETA and suggested that he give me a discount for my inconvenience. He was a jerk and complained about traffic. I found out about Onsite through someone who used to clean my drapes who is no longer in business. Harry came and took a look at all I had to clean - drapes, roman shades, duettes, silhouettes- and told me he could clean everything here in the house (as opposed to having me take everything down and deliver to his shop). I was thrilled and in addition had him clean upholstery (sofa, chairs and dining room chairs) that had not been cleaned in 20 years. He was awesome! Everything was done in a timely manner and things were really clean when he was done. Also, fabrics on the upholstery were given a stain-repellant treatment. The only problem is that my dining room table was accidentally damaged by a few drops of the product used to clean the drapes. Harry was the one who noticed the damage and immediately set about finding a reputable woodworker and he paid to have the table completely refinished. My dining room chairs, which are white, developed a few little rust spots on them (from our local water system, no doubt) and Harry returned, at no cost to me, to reclean them, this time using distilled water. They turned out beautifully. He was also willing to do a little repairwork on my duette shades which had split. Now they should last a few more years, at least. I highly recommend CleanDrapes on Site and particularly the owner, Harry, who is friendly, hard-working and extraordinarily ethical and honest - truly worth a fortune these days! P.S. Harry saved our drapes. We were all set to replace them (which would have cost about 5K, and then we found out about Clean Drapes on Site. Harry not only cleaned them so they look like new (for a very reasonable price) but spent a lot of time trying to fix the pulley which had been broken for a while. First he tried to fix it, then came back with a spare part that he thought might work, and then ordered a new part and returned for a second time to reinstall it. All for no charge. He also cleaned our upholstery that had years of stains settled in (our dogs sleep on the sofa) - and it feels like we just purchased new furniture. They are available for weekend jobs and can do the work at your home so you don't have to pull down your shades and leave your windows uncovered. They did a great job with the work and the cleanup. I had a large drapery job with red wine stains. No dry-cleaning company could handle the job, because they were too large. Harry came to take a look at them (from Albany to St. Helena), and scheduled a day the following week. He came on scheduled day and knocked it out. The drapes are wine stain free, and he went above that and applied fire retardant to them as well. Harry is as nice as it gets, fair and professional. Harry Pruyn was an incredible find for us. The initial issue was a broken cord on a honeycomb blind. Harry came over after office hours to look at the situation. The next day he took the blind, repaired it and reinstalled it. At the same time we talked about having all of our honeycomb and mini-blinds cleaned (3BRs, LR, DR). We made an appt. and Harry came in the AM, took everything to his shop, returned everything by the evening and reinstalled them. When I called a few days later and said that I thought there was one small problem with a specific blind, Harry was there within the hour and fixed it on the spot. You do not know of anyone else who would offer this service. Not having contracted for this with anyone else, I can't comment on the price but from the total we paid I have to think that this was unbeatable deal. I have a houseful of Hunter-Douglas Silhouette shades. These are sheer fabric shades and were white when new. Many of them were unbelievably dirty because they were on windows that were open most of the time. I live near vineyards and the dust is relentless. Harry made my blinds look like NEW again!
