    Came for a quick drink during happy hour. They had many options with original, art cocktails. It is dim so it is great for a little date night. After taking a look at the menu, I would definitely come again to have a couple bites.

    Really enjoyed happy hour at Class on 38th! The cocktails were very well balanced with a subtle Asian flair, and I loved that there was a thoughtful range -- from light and refreshing to more spirit-forward options. Each drink felt intentional and easy to enjoy. The small bites were good and paired nicely with the cocktails -- tasty and satisfying. Overall, a great spot for delicious cocktails and a relaxed vibe. Service was also very friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Would definitely come back again!

    Love, love, love Class on 38th. What an amazing meal! Perfect place to come with girlfriends. Service was great and the place felt like a cozy date spot. Everything we had was delicious. My favorite was the uni caviar toast. Don't miss it! Portions are on the smaller side but would highly recommend for a date or GNO.

    What a pleasant experience! Our server - Carmen was very friendly and provided excellent recommendations. The HH menu hasn't yet switched over to end at 7pm from 6:30pm, although Resy already had 5-7pm. Upon learning this, the restaurant was happy to honor the 7pm end time, which allowed us to try some dishes that weren't on the regular menu. The cocktail menu was very creative and everything we had was delicious (GTS, Not a Japanese Mai Tai, Snake Potion #8). The two of us ordered a bunch of small plates as the dishes were very shareable. My favorites were the chicken meatballs, street corn, monkfish karaage, and the miso cabbage (large item). The atmosphere was very posh with dim lights and modern decor. This will be my new favorite go to spot!

    Came here to celebrate a birthday and we were and to be seated in a private room in the back! They have a drink for everyone. I was a huge fan of the green tea sour, which had amazing flavors of yuzu and matcha. We got the Hokkaido uni pasta, agedashi tofu, salmon ikura kamameshi, toro uni caviar, and blistered shishito peppers. Everything was refreshing with unique flavors. I loved the simplicity of the agedashi tofu and smokiness of the shishito peppers. The hokkaido uni pasta was also delicious and very creamy from the uni. Our favorite was the toro uni caviar, which was served as a spread on toast. Servers were very attentive and great at providing recommendations since it was our first time dining here.

    Dimly lit, spacious - a really good date night spot. Food was overall good and waiters are really friendly. Free miso soup as well which goes great with your meal! Drinks are not too strong. A bit pricy for the portion sizes. FOOD: Oysters (6/10) - The toppings on the oyster take away from the natural sweetness of the oyster. Tasted better without the topppings! Monkfish Karaage (8/10) - Really liked this one! Personally love the texture of monkfish so thought it was a great bite. Buta Kakuni (8/10) - Super fatty pork belly. Another great bite! Poached egg adds to the creaminess Fried Oyster Sando (9/10) - Star of the show!! Oysters fried to perfection and pairs well with the coleslaw and pickles inside! Order 2x of these :) Hokkaido Uni Pasta (8/10) - Pasta is cooked super well!!

    Drinks were good! Maracuya (passion fruit) was refreshing, and Ume-groni had strong enough of a plum flavor. Food was good but not amazing. The Unagi Chawanmushi was my fav - tender with strong umami flavor. King Ebi Furai was just fried jumbo shrimp, and the Unagi Foie Don was a bit tough (the eel I mean) for my taste.

    I really like this restaurant!!! Came with a group of 6 friends and we stayed till almost closing, they were super attentive and never rush us at all! All their food are prepared in such a beautiful thoughtful way. People say we dine with our eyes first and my eyes are definitely super impressed with how beautiful their dishes are! Everything we ate were so delicious as well but my favorites are the uni toro cavier and the botan ebi tartare. They have a really great happy hour deal before 6:30pm as well! I will def be back!!!!

    Came here to celebrate my friends 30th bday and after trying so many things I thought it was just ok? Smaller group intimate dinners are moreso recommended rather than big group since most items here are small bites so don't expect to be full They were accommodating for our party of 11 and great if you want a place where you can decorate as you please ish. It was still a good experience and at least now I know what to order and not :) Drinks: -Maracuya 4/5: loved the emphasis of passionfruit flavors -Pearry 3/5: just taste like sparkling water.. Apps: -toro uni caviar 5/5: for someone that doesn't like uni, this was abs delicious and mouth watering -monk fish karage 3.5/5: something diff but wasn't that special - tuna tataki 4/5: loved the truffle flavors here - Spanish octopus 4/5: it was good but not that special either Entrees: -Salmon rice 2/5: this was nothing special and wouldn't reco trying.     Some friends and I met here for a pre-show dinner. As walk-ins on a weeknight, we waited about 10 minutes before getting seated in this exquisite and trendy Japanese restaurant. We were able to order drinks before getting seated at the bar. I had the Tea Ceremony ($21) and also tried my friends' Green Tea Sour with Suntory ($20) and Far East Sour ($21). All the drinks were delicious and love the Asian inspired ingredients. On the menu, it can be quite overwhelming with so many word; I wish they had a picture menu, but that's what we have Yelp for thankfully! Between the three of us, we ordered the Aona Gomae ($10) for veggies. This was a cold broccoli rabe neatly plated with a sesame sauce that was refreshing when you want to add some greens to your meal, though a small plate. For appetizers, we had the Chicken Yakitori ($16 for 2pcs), Octopus Yaki ($24), and Toro Uni Caviar ($40). Both the chicken and octopus were so flavorful and juicy and great starters. I also enjoyed the savory mixture of the fancy toro served on 4 mini bread toasts. This is definitely a splurge, but nice to try once. Lastly, we also shared the Uni Pasta ($34) and Unagi Foie Gras Donburi ($35). The pasta was unique made with squid ink fusilli pasta, which was a twist to the usual. The unagi was also savory and filling to round out our meal. Overall, the food was all pretty good. It is a bit of a pricey meal though with small portions. This is more of an elevated date night spot with some creative dishes. The service was also friendly and quick.

    Came in with a party of 5 on a Friday night with a 6:45 PM reservation to celebrate a friend's birthday. We love trying everything, so Class on 38th was perfect for us, with dishes that aren't too big, but not too small so that everyone got to try a little bit, and a good variety of options. Here is the laundry list of everything we tried: For drinks, they have lots of unique cocktails (and mocktails), and you can tell they are thoughtfully/expertly made. I had the Sakura Highball (suntory toki, ume plum cordial, fresh lemon, sakura blossom syrup, Perrier sparkling). This was light and refreshing, and was the perfect pre-meal drink. I also had the Boulevardier (mitchters bourbon, gran classico bitters, sweet vermouth, orange oils), which went well with the meat dishes we ordered. For food: -Oysters (market oysters with apple yuzu mignonette espuma, black tobiko, micro cilantro) - comes with 5 pieces (perfect for us!). Oysters were shucked well, and the caviar was a nice touch -Crudo (hokkaido scallops sashimi, market uni sea urchin, red radish, chili, shiso aguachil) - I don't usually love shiso, but I didn't mind it in this dish. You can't really go wrong with Hokkaido scallops and uni -Toro Uni Caviar (bluefin fatty tuna tartare, hokkaido uni, ikura, osetra caviar w/ hokkaido milk toast) - this might have been my favorite dish of the night. I probably could have eaten two of these on my own and not ordered anything else (though I'm glad we got to try so many other dishes) -Hamachi Nikkei (japanese yellowtail, pickled carrot, radish, red onion, cancha corn, citrus carrot coulis) - all of the veggies in this made the dish taste really fresh overall. I liked how thinly sliced the radishes came -Octopus Yaki (grilled spanish octopus, yuzu kosho pepper coulis, petite potatoes, shiso tomato) - I love grilled octopus and I really liked the 'Asian spin' this had -Kurobuta Pork Cheeks (Grilled berkshire pork jowl, shio koji cured, kimchi relish, Tobanjang BBQ) - the pork cheeks were super tender -Wagyu Tartare (50/50 japanese a5 & american wagyu, truffle duxelle, pear, foie gras, shaved truffle on milk toast) - this was a close second for my fave. I guess I'm just a huge fan of tartares in general -Miso-Grilled Cabbage (twice-cooked savoy cabbage wedge, red miso leek soubise, chili crisps, sunchoke chips, chives) - this might be the best cabbage I've ever eaten. It was so flavorful, perfectly cooked, and didn't have that farty taste that cabbage can sometimes have -Hokkaido Uni Pasta (fresh fusilli pasta, squid ink butter, uni beurre mont foam, market uni, pecorino romano) - squid ink butter and uni? Need I say more? -Wagyu Strip Steak (imperial wagyu reserve striploin 14oz, cauliflower puree, broccoli rabe, black pepper demi, shiso oil) - cooked medium rare, the saltiness of the salt balanced the cauliflower puree -Buta Kakuni (4hr braised Berkshire pork belly, shiitake mushroom okayu, onsen jidori tamago, crispy leeks) - I love me some onsen eggs. But if you have to choose one pork dish, I'd choose the pork cheeks over this -Matcha Cheesecake (?) with strawberries - I don't remember exactly what the dessert was since it wasn't on the menu, but I did like the burnt sugar that it came topped with If you have a special occasion to celebrate, I'd recommend Class on 38th. It's not cheap but the food is really good, and you won't find these dishes anywhere else.

    Food 8/10 Almost everything was solid. I particularly enjoyed the salmon donburi rice, it was a lot more filling than I expected, and they definitely did not skimp on the salmon. The uni toro caviar may sound gimmicky, but honestly the caviar was really smooth and obviously, as I am a huge fan of uni, I really enjoyed each bite. The ebit tartare was beautifully plated and tender as well. The yakitori was unfortunately the only piece I didn't like, as it was too salty. Atmosphere 5/10 Way too loud inside to have a conversation, wish they could just turn down the music. Very dimly lit interior, a long corridor-style restaurant. Everything appeared very sleek and modern, Service 8/10 Enjoyable service, nothing to complain about.

    Weekend dinner with reservation, no wait. Ambience is nice and classy. Food selection is Japanese inspired fusion. Great happy hour menu till 630 pm every day, giving the opportunity to try lots of different items. Was given an amuse bouche of miso soup. Ordered the mizuna caesar salad (great refreshing starter), fried oyster sandwich (excellent), fried monkfish (karage) with mentaiko mayo (fantastic. The sauce had just enough kick and the fish was fried perfectly), unagi chawanmushi (this was a good rendition, but the unagi was a little bit on the tougher side. Would recommend mixing it up to get the sauce distributed better before eating). The uni squid ink pasta was great. The pasta was dense but soaked up the sauce well, reminiscent of dduk bbok kii. Also, recommend mixing this dish up to spread out the uni sauce. Service was attentive and restaurant vibe was nice. Will definitely come back to try out other things.

Sounds simple, but it's one of my favorite drinks, and I'm always looking for someone who can do it well. I ordered their "dear G&T" and it was a fruity, complex riff on my old favorite. I also got the foreign forage, "a bourbon smash with a mint zing." It was also a delicious take on a classic. They have several types of cocktails, all broken down by spirit and flavor profile. They also offer a lot of spirits made in New York State. They have cocktails with earthy notes, fruity notes, fancy martinis, and a section boasting limited edition and special spirits, if you're "feeling fancy" and wanna cough up 35 bucks instead of 20 or 25! They have a bar snacks menu (sliders, nuts, and the like). I had their thick cut fries and they were light, seasoned, and tasty. I couldn't stop eating them. Midtown or not, I highly recommend this spot, which also has a couple other locations, including Gramercy.
