    Salmon Ikura Don
    Andrew L.

Had a nice dinner at Manhatto on a busy Friday evening. Started with the Takoyaki and the Yuzu Caesar Salad - both solid. For entrees we had the Uni Mentai Pasta (very creamy), Salmon Ikura Don (good), Ribeye Fried Rice (meat was a little overcooked but good flavor) Friendly staff, lively atmosphere.

Very spacious place. My FAVORITES here were: - uni mentai pasta - this was very flavorful and creamy) - kamo miso pasta (duck with miso pasta) the duck was on point and I could really taste black pepper in the pasta. reminded me a bit of cacio e pepe - geso karage (fried squid appetizer) paired well with the spicy mayo - barley milk tea was a great drink. It was a little on the sweet side (this was free with a google review). OTHER ITEMS I TRIED: - Rib eye fried rice was soso. The rib eye was slightly burnt on the edges for medium rare and not very flavorful so you can prob skip on that one. - Corn Ribs were like the elote mexican corn on the cob. decent appetizer - Tomato Burrata - I love burrata but dish wasn't that special for me although presentation wise it was pretty. There was balsamic vinaigrette drizzled on the burrata and you can spread it on the toast with the different fruits or tomato. - Salmon Ikura Don - typical salmon sashimi with some ikura on top of vinegary rice. Nothing special as well since I just had some salmon sashimi from hashimart the day before and it was like the same. - Honey Toast with Matcha Ice cream - we got 1 to share between 4 people and it was a good dessert. I really liked the matcha ice cream here. - Miso Butter Roll (crab meat , puffed rice, red onion, asparagus, fried shallot, miso butter sauce) roll had a good amount of crab meat in each roll. Overall great place to eat with friends. Well decorated. Waiters occasionally came to change plates and add water to our cups which was nice.

Some classic Japanese dishes and some with a unique twist. The uni mentai pasta was so good and creamy. The chicken katsu curry and hamburger omurice had a delicious curry sauce and great meat. The corn ribs had a delightful seasoning that complemented the corn taste well. The sweet potato mortadella was an interesting dish--not sure if it went well together, but the sweet potato and mortadella each on their own were very good. The chicken karaage was crispy and tender. The honey toast (with matcha ice cream) was also amazing! No disappointments basically. The inside is beautifully decorated. I should have made a reservation, but they were able to squeeze in my walk in group of 4 at 6:30 PM for an hour, which I appreciated. Super excited to have this place open up in Hell's Kitchen and would love to come back

A Japanese Western fusion with a clean design, Manhatto is a welcome new restaurant on the busy blocks on Hell's Kitchen. The food is mostly Japanese flavors with touches of outside influence. For those looking for the traditional look and feel, this might not be it, but for those wanting to go more experimental, Manhatto delivers. Taste: 4/5 Service: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Value for money: 3.5/5 We had: 1. Salmon Ikura Don - rather standard, the sushi rice was very strong on the vinegar 2. Uni Mentai Pasta - probably the best of the three we ordered, great strong flavours, recommend to split this given the richness of the cream, there is also crab in this dish which was a bonus to us 3. Tsukemen - this was like a deconstructed ramen, the broth was very rich, overall it was good, better as a ramen 4. Genmaicha Barley Milk Tea - this was a great drink! Too bad it was loaded with ice Overall this was a decent spot, felt like an item here or there was cutting corners but it was good. What made this meal better was the service, the servers were very attentive!

Manhatto was such a refreshing take on Japanese food. I really enjoyed their Unagi Croissant ($12) for instance. It's not a pairing I would have ever thought of, but it was surprisingly great together. Their Uni Mentai Pasta ($29) was creamy and super tasty. Out of everything, that was definitely my favorite. Their Takoyaki ($11) was great as well. Although I really liked the garlicky fried rice from their Ribeye Fried Rice ($49), I found the ribeye a little tough to chew and not particularly seasoned. The portion of the ribeye does make up a little for the price on that dish though. Aside from the food, the service was good and the waiter was attentive and helpful!

Having recently opened in Hell's Kitchen, we checked out the menu and so many items look tantalizing to say the least. So we came for dinner to a packed restaurant on a Thursday evening, and we secured the last available table in the house. The host and service was friendly, albeit a little slow at times. Overall, we had a great experience but feel there's still so much potential that has yet to be realized. For one, Manhatto does not yet have a liquor license - so options were limited to non-alcoholic beer, mocktails, and tea. We did enjoy the hot Sencha tea, which was a great addition to the meal. Now, for food: Miso soup: solid. Geso (squid) Karaage: delicious, a favorite! (even if it is a take on fried calamari, but shhh) Asian Pear salad - loved it. Yuzu Caesar salad - fantastic. Toridori roll - so good, just not a full-size portion for a sushi roll (5 pcs). Miso Salmon - perfectly cooked and loved the overall flavor, just felt it was missing more on the plate with just a handful of lettuce leaves and a lemon. Brisket Yakisoba - loved it. Overall verdict: cute space, super yummy food and would definitely go back ...but with the expectation that the portions are a bit small for the price.

Still thinking about this meal. We ordered a little bit of everything and nothing missed. The unagi croissant was the perfect savory bite with flaky layers and soft slightly sweet unagi, and the trio pearl crudo was super refreshing with yuzu, scallop, uni, and salmon roe. The uni mentai pasta was one of my favorites, so creamy and rich, and the ramen had bouncy noodles with tender wagyu. The Last Samurai roll with bluefin tuna was amazing too. Please save room for the matcha honey toast, it was so soft and paired with green tea ice cream that was sweet with a slight bitterness so it wasn't overwhelming. Everything was incredible and our server Pauline was the sweetest and gave the best recommendations

We've been really looking forward to this place opening. Solid food, fun interesting small plates, and a great dessert that I look forward to trying. This was a great place to come in and relax in the neighborhood. It's not too fussy, it's roomy, and service is outstanding. I look forward to returning. The ramen was pretty flavorful for a lighter broth, corn looked great, the yuzu Caesar was solid, I have no complaints. Pretty decadent (as someone who is now watching their glucose) and for that I'd say it was worth it.

I honestly wanted to gatekeep this, but they deserve all the love. Manhatto immediately jumped to the top of my favorite Japanese restaurants in NYC. The matcha shokupan dessert has stayed on my mind since, and the ribeye fried rice is MASSIVE! The interior is beautiful, warm and cozy, like a japanese jazz cafe. Even small details, like how clean the restroom was, stood out to me. The service was also AMAZING -- super friendly and attentive staff. Such a solid choice for a date night or a relaxed dinner I'd happily come back for. *Uni Mentai Pasta $29 * Almost every table ordered this pasta - layers of snow crab, uni, ikura, and mentaiko, but surprisingly not heavy at all. I loved that it wasn't overly creamy or cheesy like most mentaiko pasta. *Ribeye Fried Rice $49 ** Okay I know this is pricey, but they literally plop a whole ribeye steak on top of garlic fried rice. Perfectly cooked medium rare and easily the best steak fried rice I've had in a while. The rice was super garlicky and flavorful, and even more delicious after mixing it with the soy marinated egg yolk. *Matcha Honey Toast $15 ** MUST TRY! Extra thick shokupan, crunchy and buttery outside, soft and fluffy inside, with matcha ice cream melting into it and oats for a nice crunch. I cleaned the plate and would happily order this again. *Gyutan $16 * The beef tongue was so tender with a perfect char, and the yuzu pepper on the side made it even better. *Trio Pearl Crudo $22 Lightly seasoned and clean-tasting, letting the natural sweetness of scallop and uni shine. *Toridori $22 The sushi however didn't really stand out to me, so I'd probably skip it next time.

I arrived here on a Sunday evening on a snowy day in January looking for a nice place with an ambiance for a reservation for 2. I was surprised to see a restaurant of this caliber with plenty of seating and open spots on a peak crowded month in NYC. Located in Hells Kitchen, there is a bar seating area at the front of the restaurant and then plenty of seats for small parties in the back. Nice dim lighting and nice looking posters decorate the area. The service is nice and accommodating, taking care of our umbrellas as it snowed outside. For most fine dining places with a vibe like this, I would expect meals and entrees to be priced around 30+ dollars. While there are pricey items on the menu I was surprised to see the cost of the chicken Katsu curry to be under 30. Moreover, I thought it was quite well prepared and great quantity to ensure that I was filled when I walked out. My friend ordered a sushi roll, which I did feel was quite pricey especially when it only came out with 4 rolls. Service was quick and food came out within 15 mins. If you are looking for a dimly lit Asian restaurant with date night vibes on a weekend last minute, I would highly recommend this spot, especially considering it to be on the more affordable options. Would be coming back.

My husband and I checked out Manhatto for lunch on a Friday around 12:30pm, and we were really impressed. The menu feels upscale and unique, with a thoughtful mix of classic and creative Japanese dishes. The hostess was wonderful and incredibly sweet, which immediately set a great tone. The ambience and décor are modern yet traditional - beautiful, calm, and inviting. Everything we tried was fresh and well-made. We especially loved how many vegetarian options were available. Our favorites were the corn ribs and the vegan sushi roll - both were delicious and memorable. Prices were very reasonable, especially for the quality, and the lunch special was a great value, including soup, salad, and an entrée. Overall, Manhatto is a fantastic addition to the neighborhood, and we will definitely be going back!

Jaw dropping addicting pasta, u def have to get the uni mentai pasta (one of the best if not the best). Uni is super fresh. The flavors weren't too storm but perfect enough. You can't go wrong with anything. Their corn ribs are super flavorful which makes it taste like chips. Def get their scallop as well. Staff members were very kind and helped us with the menu. Vibes inside cozy

3.5 stars. Visited Manhatto on a Thursday night and it was not crowded at all. The place is nicely decorated and very vibey, and the service was great. However, I felt like the portions were quite small and the food was overpriced for the portion sizes. Several members of our group mentioned that they were still pretty hungry after our entrees. The uni mentai pasta had the smallest fingernail amount of uni. I honestly don't think that uni even deserves to be in the name of the dish given how little uni there was, and the uni did not contribute to the taste at all since there was so little. There was a slight kick of spice from the mentaiko, which I enjoyed, and I liked that there was a good amount of crab for the amount of pasta, but the dish was also tiny. You could finish it in four bites. The ribeye fried rice was good, but not worth $49. The rice was well seasoned and cooked well. The steak was also well seasoned, but not a particularly high quality steak. I saw a whole slice of fat included in there. There was also a bunch of saffron on top, but I don't think it added much in terms of flavor. I really liked the bite I had with the cured egg in the middle, but for the amount of rice there was, there should be more than a single cured egg yolk. The miso butter sushi was good, but not spectacular. I think they were trying to add some varying texture with the tiny furikake at the top but that didn't really come through. The gyutan was...interesting. I've really only had beef tongue in thin slices, so when it was served diced, it had a chewy texture that made it very apparent it was tongue. The amount of yuzu kosho and salt that came with the dish was too little - we had to ask for more salt. The matcha honey toast was good - the bread was soft on the inside and nicely crunchy and toasty on the outside. Matcha ice cream had a slight bitterness and wasn't too sweet, which was great. All in all, yummy but not really worth the price.

I'd have to say...the tonkatsu was quite good....not quite as sublime as my favorite tonkatsu place in Tokyo...but still, very, very good. The dish also came with a bowl of miso soup (good, and not overly salty) and a bowl of white rice, which I considered the most disappointing part of the meal. The Ankimo came with three pieces of monkfish liver and scallions in a ponzu wasabi sauce. It was a nice start to the meal, with its creamy texture and rich flavor. The Age Tofu came with three cubes of fried tofu that had a slightly chewy exterior and a pillowy soft interior. The bonito flakes and dashi broth gave it a punch of flavor. It was my first time ever having Mentaiko Pasta, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was creamy and the spiciness of the cod roe sauce was subtle--it kind of creeps up on you after a few bites and gives the dish a little kick. I felt like the cod roe flavor shone through, and the bacon added another dimension to it. The Hotate Carpaccio came with 6 slices of Hokkaido scallops, ikura, and a mustard soy dressing. It was a delicate dish that I enjoyed, especially after the heavier Mentaiko. The Cold Soba Green Tea was my favorite dish. It was so refreshing. All the ingredients went very well together--the green tea noodles had a good bite, the salmon sashimi was very fresh, the ikura added a nice brininess when you pop them, and the dashi broth provided a nice backdrop to the dish. The sashimi in the Kaisen Don was fresh, and came with salmon, tuna, yellowtail, octopus, and ikura. The dessert menu is found at the end of the drinks menu. We got one of each dessert: the sweet potato balls with hojicha ice cream, cheesecake with yuzu sorbet, and black sesame ice cream with red beans. The sweet potato balls were SOOO GOOD--crispy exterior and chewy interior, with just the right touch of sweetness. The hojicha ice cream was so good. We regret not having ordered an extra set of the sweet potato balls. The cheesecake was a little dry, but had these little rice crispies on top that gave a nice textural change. The yuzu sorbet was a good palate cleanser. The black sesame ice cream was rich and creamy, and the red bean sauce added an extra layer of sweetness. Sozai is a great place to share a few dishes. I definitely want to come back to check out the lunch specials.

The tuna from the bone is the most famous dish here, but I was not able to get it as they sell out very fast.
