    Spicy Karaage

This, hands down, is my favorite ramen shop. Came by with my boyfriend after hearing about Kame for months and finally tried it out - omg so good! We ordered the spicy karaage and we each got the spicy tonkatsu. The broth is incredibly flavorful, the noodles are not overcooked, and they give generous slabs of pork belly. I was so full but had to get every last drop of the broth. Will definitely be back soon :)

Warming yourself up with a delicious bowl of ramen is always the answer to surviving a cold, dreary day. We visited Kame, a Japanese restaurant in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, on a Saturday evening. Reservations are highly recommended on the weekends, especially for large groups. The restaurant is small and has a limited amount of seating. We were lucky and scored a table for two without any reservations. The ambiance is different from your traditional ramen shop. It has a sleek minimalist interior. The lighting is dark and dim with a vibe similar to a speakeasy or trendy lounge. They have LED lamps on the tables. The menu focuses on Japanese comfort food, with ramen being the star dish. They offer classics like gyoza, takoyaki, karaage, edamame, tonkotsu, and curry rice bowls. They also have a vegan menu. As for drinks, they serve beer, sake, wine, tea, and non-alcoholic refreshers. Ramen here will cost you around $19-$23, which is a bit hefty. BUT we're in NYC... so these prices are expected and reasonable for the area. We already had light bites & drinks beforehand, so we went straight for the ramen! We both ordered the Tonkotsu ($19), which included pork broth, noodles, braised pork belly, kikurage mushroom, scallions, black garlic oil, bamboo, and seaweed. You can customize your bowl with more toppings at an additional charge. We added an onsen egg (boiled in low temperature water to achieve silky, custard-like whites & a firm, creamy yolk) for $3. Service was quick and attentive from start to finish. As soon as our bowls were set on the table... I knew it was going to be a solid meal! The broth was rich and creamy with an intense pork flavor - super savory, but not overly salty. The black garlic oil was very aromatic and added some smoky flavor to the broth. There was a generous amount of pork belly - two large cuts! It was sooo tender and had a melt-in-your-mouth texture. It had just the right amount of fat and lean meat. The noodles were springy and bouncy, but could've been more al dente. The onsen egg and other toppings were fresh and complemented the strong flavors of the broth. Overall, it was a satisfying and comforting bowl of ramen! I was stuffed after eating mine. I absolutely loved the pork belly slices and tonkotsu broth. Although the price tag is a bit higher than other competitors, the quality of their ingredients justifies it. If you're in the area and craving ramen, you can't go wrong with dining here! There's a reason why the rating is high ;)

Great food and service. The restaurant is cozy and perfect for a dinner date. It would have been perfect if the ramen came with an egg, each one was an extra $3.

It was my first time coming to NYC and I happened to come across a video of someone who tried Kame and I just had to try it. It did not disappoint! We got the spicy tonkotsu ramen and the spicy shrimp ramen. The seafood ramen had a coconut flavor to their broth that was amazing! Definitely spicy but not too spicy; it was tolerable. The flavor was there!! It's a cozy little spot and the waiters were really nice and attentive. We didn't make reservations and just walked in at around 5:10 p.m. and they had opened at 5:00 pm. It did start getting a little full after. We also ordered two of their famous appetizers which were also delicious. Hands down one of the best ramen dishes I have had! Will definitely come again if I'm ever visiting NYC!

This was our first time trying this restaurant. The restaurant is very close to FIT, making it a great spot for college students. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. The dishes came out a decent time. We ordered ramen and really enjoyed it. Although the space is small, it wasn't busy when we visited during lunchtime. I would recommend making a reservation if you plan to go for dinner.

Kame Ramen is a top-tier ramen spot in Chelsea! We stopped by on a rainy Saturday, and the place was packed. The space is small, so be warned; the wait can get tricky since there's no official waitlist and it runs on an honor system. It's definitely easier for smaller parties to get seated faster. Despite the crowd, the staff handled everything with patience and genuine kindness. Service was quick once we sat down, and everyone working there kept things running smoothly. We tried the Tonkotsu Ramen, a rich and creamy pork broth with tender pork belly and black garlic oil, and the Shoyu Ramen, which had a lighter soy-based broth with shiitake mushrooms and bamboo. Both were outstanding. The only downside was the wait logistics, but the food and service made it completely worth it. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

For a small little place this serves some amazing food. I arrived a bit late and there was a line, but the greeter was quick to clear away a spot at the bar. Later I found out is is not just the host but also the waiter. I opted for the Spicy beef ramen and the Takayama which arrived pretty promptly. The Takoyaki had three squid balls with the fish flakes dancing all over which is a sight I always enjoy. The ramen though was the highlight!! Very very flavorful, though the beef was on the lighter side, but the broth and the noodles were really good. Great texture and flavor. This is going to be my new ramen spot in Chelsea

(Last visited July 21, 2023.) Working in New York City for the week and my co-worker said he was craving ramen or something of the sort. I did some Yelp'ing as I do and found Kame! Here's why I liked it so much! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right on the corner of 8th Avenue & 28th Street is this gem. Obviously there isn't a parking lot, but there's plenty of street parking around and I'm sure there are multiple parking structures somewhere around. The original location opened in a different part of the city in 2020 and maintained strength until a leasing dispute forced them to move to where they are now! Inside is a modern, chic, simplistic atmosphere with excellent mood lighting and chill music with no words. Service: I can't remember who took care of us, but she was sweet, patient, helpful and just made sure we were well taken care of. Food: I started with the beef bun and it was GOOD. It was so soft and flavorful. The meat wasn't as tender as I'd like, but it was okay! Just a hint of sweetness. The gyoza was AMAZING. Probably the best I've ever had with a different shape, crispy skin, succulent pork that definitely was made fresh in house. The fried chicken was also amazing. It had sesame seeds, peanuts and scallions all on top of its good crispy skin. Mild spiciness and sweetness. DELICIOUS. The Spicy Salmon Ramen was very good. There was a very slight fishy taste, but it didn't throw the whole dish off. The flavors worked well together and most importantly, the dish wasn't overly salty. Value: The beef buns are $6.00 each. The gyoza was $11.00 and you get 5 pieces. The fried chicken was also $11.00 and you get 4 chicken-thigh sized pieces. My ramen was $21.00. All in all, this place is adequately priced for sure and everything was well worth it. You can't have excellent quality food without paying for it. You feel me? I'd pay it all over again. In conclusion, I loved it here and I wish them much success! The restaurant is on the smaller side, so make reservations and make sure you check this place out!

So spicy so simple so delicious. Easy in and out. Sat at the bar - efficient no nonsense service which is great for the solo eater. Ramen was delicious and not overly abundant which is fine. Spice level - above average and enough to stimulate which is what I wanted after a long day at work. Plenty of meat and egg. Nice local joint and near the hotel. Definitely recommend. Fast and efficient service which is so NY. Will come again.

The Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen had pork belly that were large pieces, meaty and tasty. With so many ramen places in the City it is hard at times to know which one is worth checking out. Jeni and I had lunch here a few days ago. She likes bao and ordered the pork bun. This version had lots of creamy sauces on top which made it messy to eat. She still prefers the one at Ippoudo. With it she chose the Shoyu Ramen which she enjoyed. My ramen had an unusual flavor of the broth and it was spicy. Kame has been here for about six years and resembles a railroad apartment. The walls are grey and the atmosphere seems dark. Service was fine. Both cash and card are accepted. Two restrooms are in the back.

Got the shoyu ramen and the broth was delicious. Definitely recommend to someone looking for a solid ramen spot

I was able to taste just the 2 tonkatsu ramen (regular and spicy) and they were both solid. The pork belly melted in my mouth! Keep in mind that the spicy IS spicy indeed. Welcoming and kind service. Clean restrooms. Not crowded at lunch on a weekday but I get you need a reservation at dinner time. Recommended.

We walked into a comfortable modern space with a casual energy that worked well for both a quick ramen meal and a longer dinner with friends. The interior had a warm, inviting feel with a layout that accommodated both small groups and solo diners, and the open kitchen added a layer of engagement to the experience. The ramen is the main highlight, especially the rich and flavorful broths. We ordered a few options and found the EAK ramen standing out with its deep, savory broth and satisfying texture, the noodles having a good chew that held up well against the richness of the soup. The Zebra and chicken-based ramen offered different flavor profiles, each arriving with well-prepared toppings and balanced seasoning. The small plates were also worth exploring, with items like takoyaki and chicken karaage adding more variety to the meal, each dish arriving hot and well assembled. The menu had a lot of choices beyond ramen, which made it a good option for groups with different preferences. Service was quick and the restaurant had a relaxed atmosphere that made it easy to settle in. It could get busy during peak times, but the overall dining experience moved along smoothly. The staff moved through the room with efficiency, and the pacing of the meal kept the experience comfortable without feeling rushed. Overall, E.A.K. No complaints, except that I guess I prefer Tonkostu (pork bone) over Paitan (chicken bone). I appreciated sitting at the bar to watch the lone ramen monger stir around the next batches of broth, hand-torching some chashu; boiling, whip-drying, and gently nestling my noodles, then manually laying out the toppings. We walked into a compact dining room with a handful of tables and counter seating facing the open kitchen, giving the space a relaxed and intimate atmosphere. The room had a warm, focused energy with the sounds of the kitchen and the hum of conversation filling the space, and the seating arrangement kept the attention on the food being prepared in front of us. The ramen is the reason to come here. We ordered a few bowls and found the signature chicken paitan broth rich, creamy, and full of flavor without feeling overly heavy. The noodles had a nice texture that held up well in the broth, and the toppings were thoughtfully prepared, with the chashu tender and the seasoned egg adding a creamy richness to the bowl. The spicy versions added an extra layer of heat without overpowering the chicken broth, and the deluxe bowls offered generous portions with additional toppings that made the meal feel more substantial. The chicken curry ramen was another standout, combining the comforting broth with a mild, savory curry flavor that added a different dimension to the bowl. The side dishes complemented the meal well, with options like bao buns, takoyaki, and onigiri adding variety, though some appetizers were on the smaller side and the ramen itself was filling enough to be the main focus. Service was generally quick, and even during busy periods the food came out at a good pace. The team moved through the room with efficiency, and the pacing of the meal kept the experience smooth without feeling rushed. The biggest thing to plan around is the limited seating. The restaurant fills up quickly, especially during lunch and dinner hours, so there may be a short wait for a table. The compact dining room could also feel crowded during peak times, but that was part of the restaurant's charm. Overall, TORIBRO Ramen is a great spot for anyone looking for a comforting bowl of chicken-based ramen in New York City. The flavorful broth, well-prepared noodles, and cozy atmosphere make it an easy place to revisit, especially on a cold day or whenever we are craving a satisfying bowl of ramen.
