What a great find. A neon blue sign reassures you they invest more in their fish than the decor, and they mean it! The fish was very fresh and lovely. The salmon was melt in your mouth with a lightly sweet note. The seared pieces of nigiri were well-balanced with just a light smokiness. I was craving sushi and saw all the excellent reviews so I stopped by after work. I got a sashimi tasting. I "think" the fish is fresh. I have to say think because everything was extremely salty. The sashimi sits on a large bed of seaweed. I tasted the seaweed so it was super salty. So the sashimi sitting on the bed of seaweed absorbed all the salt. It was barely eatable. We came to Jurin Sushi to get takeout after our other omakase reservation cancelled on us due to the weather. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor, has 2 small tables and window seating. The staff were really nice and gave us a mochi ice cream dessert while we waited for our order because it took around 30min to make. Ordered the Nigiri & Sashimi (15 pieces of sashimi, 10 pieces of nigiri) $55, which came with green salad or miso soup. They did not skimp out on the thick slices of fish, but some pieces were better than others and unfortunately the sushi rice was a bit too hard and dry. I went with their $40 omakase box and thought it was pretty solid. It came with 10 pieces of nigiri and a negi toro roll. For $40, I think it's a steal! The only troubling piece I would say is their uni as it seemed to not taste very fresh. I think it's good value for the price I paid. I also had their Beef Tataki and I really enjoyed these. Such a great little sushi restaurant in midtown. We visited a few days ago on a rainy weekday. We ordered sashimi and spicy tuna and a few other things. The fish was fresh and delicious. The owner is so caring and kind. She brought trainer chopsticks for our 5 year old son and took a poloaroid both for her wall and for us to keep. She also, and very thoughtfully, brought us some mochi dessert on the house. She said - it's okay, I can do this, I'm the owner. Ha! I'm so glad we found Jurin sushi. We'd come to Jurin after walking into another nearby sushi place and being brusquelly asked what we wanted. Uh - to eat sushi?
