We had a lovely stay at this beautiful facility in a great neighborhood. The staff were courteous and helpful. We parked in garage next to the hotel and walked to several nearby restaurants to eat meals. We even walked to the beach and Lincoln Park. Great place! read more

TL;DR: Room was pretty & cute, but I paid for a deluxe king room and they gave me an adjoined room (because all their deluxe king rooms are adjoined, which was never mentioned to me) and I heard waaaaaay more than I ever wanted to hear from my next door neighbors, if you catch my drift... I wanted to really love this place. The second I walked in, I was taken aback with how beautifully decorated the lobby was. Everything in the lobby looks brand new and it has a really cool vibe to it. I stood here for 4 nights and paid for the "deluxe king" room which was obviously more expensive than the regular king room. I had a really early flight & a long journey from the airport to the hotel so when I got to my room, I immediately knocked out. I noticed it was an adjoined room and thought it was weird but I was too tired to do anything about it. I was woken up by the people next door yelling and playing music. I never complain about anyone in hotels because I think that's a lame thing to do, but it honestly felt like they were IN MY ROOM. I couldn't go to sleep because I could so clearly hear their music and their plans for the evening (it was about 6PM). I called the front desk and I asked if I could switch rooms because I paid for a deluxe king and my room was an adjoined room and I wanted to switch to another. She said that ALL their deluxe king rooms are adjoined rooms, and that I could downgrade to a regular king room but keep the same price I paid. Um???? First, why would you make all of your higher priced rooms adjoined rooms? Second, why would I choose to pay more for a deluxe room but get a lesser version of what I paid for? I told her that I'd stay in the room since I was already completely unpacked and if they were all adjoined, it wouldn't make a difference anyway. The people next door eventually left for the evening. My boyfriend and I left too and we returned to our hotel at around 1 AM. They returned at the same time because I could immediately hear them. I'm not being dramatic when I say it sounded like they were in my room.... They were drunk. Girlfriend was hungry so she asked Boyfriend to order pizza. Boyfriend orders pizza and praises the man on the phone for delivering at this hour. Girlfriend asks for pizza without sauce on it. Boyfriend thinks thats weird but orders it anyway. Boyfriend hangs up and asks Girlfriend what's wrong. She starts yelling at him that it was mean to say her pizza order was weird. He says "come on, baby, I ordered it anyway!" Then the two of them knock out. An hour later, Pizza Guy is there ready to deliver. He's calling their room over & over again on the phone and, obviously, it sounds like my phone is ringing over and over. After about 20 minutes, Boyfriend wakes up, says "Oh shit!" opens the door and Pizza Man says "I was waiting for 20 minutes! This is unacceptable!" Pizza man leaves. Boyfriend and Girlfriend are silent so I assume they pass out. But by the next morning, my assumption is proven correct because Girlfriend says "I can't believe we didn't eat our pizzas last night." They eat their pizza. And, I can't tell you what they do next because I'm sure it violates some type of Yelp policy but trust me when I say it was WAY MORE than I ever wanted to hear. And I heard it not once, but twice. Vividly. Horrifying. When they were finished, I heard Boyfriend say "We gotta hurry up! Check out is in 45 minutes." I was extremely relieved by that. The next 3 nights, I didn't hear anyone in that room. I'm not sure if it was vacant or not, but I got lucky and heard nothing. My first night and second day was pretty dreadful. Aside from all that drama, the room itself is cute. The bed is comfortable. The water pressure in the shower is incredible. I love love love the glass door in the shower as opposed to the gross shower curtain. I could use some more sink space in the bathroom, but whatever. read more

We booked a king room for $85/night for two nights. We parked two blocks away for $35 for the whole weekend. The check-in was very pleasant, the lobby is beautiful and the check-in woman (I believe her name was Sam) was very nice. She asked us what kind of view we wanted and what floor and she accommodated what we were looking for. The actual room was kind of rough. Very small, could use some new paint, a few cobwebs, the paint above the shower was peeling off, and the carpet could use a good cleaning. The bed was very comfortable and so was the bedding. The location was perfect. In the middle of the night on Saturday night I was woken up by the overwhelming smell of weed. I know this isn't anything the hotel can control it's just something to note. Over the entire weekend the whole floor just smelled like weed. We didn't use any of the amenities but we did walk around the second floor and the gym looked about average. Our stay didn't make or break our weekend it was just a neutral experience. read more

Nice boutique hotel in Chicago's Gold Coast Conveniently located amid the brownstones of Chicago's Gold Coast, our Claridge House room suffered from some significant misses. I have traveled for many years, and I don't remember a hotel shower without a soap holder, shelf or towel rack. And don't expect a bathtub, we did not have one. We were not happy placing soap, shampoo, and other sundries on the shower floor, nor having to put clean towels on the toilet lid. Additionally, for a four night stay, the room had no closet, but a wardrobe, so small, that most of our clothes remained in our suitcases. Our street facing room windows appeared to have not been cleaned in many years. That being said, our double queen beds, for the three of us were comfortable, although our room was rather small by boutique standards. The housekeeping staff was perfect, and kept us supplied with clean towels, etc. We did not choose this hotel, as it was a recommended choice for a wedding we attended the weekend of St. Patrick's Day. The restaurant food and service were we had one breakfast was excellent. While the hotel is an excellent value in a great location, and our street facing room was quiet, I might look for other accommodations in the future. read more

We booked a room here through hotwire. Seemed like the area we wanted and we rolled the dice. Our gamble paid off! Very nice hotel in the best location (for us). Our room was a queen room on the 10th floor. While the room was small, it was spotless and the bed was nice. When I go on vacation, I only plan on being in my room to sleep, so the size of the room doesn't really matter. The linens were nice, clean, and the knit throw on the bed was a nice touch. There is no dresser in the room, only a small wardrobe, but again, that doesn't bother me too much. Our view faced The John Hancock Building and The Willis Tower! Made for some amazing sunrise, sunset, and nighttime views. The location is more of a residential area. Having been to Chicago before, we had stayed Downtown and were not very impressed that there was much as far as food goes outside of regular business hours. This area was the exact opposite. There is pretty much everything you could want or need within a short walking distance. Walgreens (came in handy for a few things we forgot!) and Starbucks is at the corner, and there are lots of bars and restaurants for all. I walked to Starbucks one morning and was there and back in less than 10 min. The hotel was nice and quiet, the only other guests I saw were couples. the lobby was very warm and welcoming. The staff was friendly and always said hello and goodbye when we went through the lobby. We really enjoyed our stay here and can't wait to come back. read more

Service was terrible. Had to call multiple times for towels, toilet paper, and hygiene products. When they did not bring these products we had to go down to the front desk to receive them. We stayed for four days, three nights and our room was never cleaned. There is one lamp in the whole hotel room, outlets didn't work, and the bathrooms are tiny. The people working at the front desk are extremely rude and unhelpful. Did not want to help their customers in anyway. The only good part about this hotel is the location. read more

Nice place to stay while in Chicago. Good location and quiet street. I had a nice room and liked it. However, I got charged both an amenity fee and an urban fee at check out. While I was aware of the amenity fee - as most hotels charge an amenity fee- I was disappointed to learn about the urban fee. I asked what the difference is between these two types of fees, and I was told by the clerk that it is the same. So, about $30/night for the amenity fee, $30 the urban fee in addition to your rate. It is a rip off!!! Please be aware of this hotel's hidden fees, AKA "junk fees". Honestly I liked the place and my room, and was planning to return in the spring, but after being charged both amenity and urban fees, I will never check in at Claridge house again! While the location of this hotel is wonderful, I believe the staff must have received a memo to be as rude and discourteous as possible. Not one staff member over a three day stay smiled, offered to help or even bothered saying good morning. When I requested my room be cleaned, they told me I was informed at check in that I must provide 24 hour notice. They never mentioned it and I checked with other members of my party and no one was told. They basically refused to clean the room. The amenities are minimal and while the bed was comfortable, that was the only good feature of the room. Even the towels were bad. I don't know how this place stays in business. This is not a 4 star hotel. The paint is peeling off the ceiling in the bathroom and the window leaked air like crazy. We had to keep the heat on at all times. When we checked in late, there were no sheets on the bed. They are also not doing housekeeping due to covid, but not one staff member was wearing a mask. One of the worst hotels I have stayed in. They do not have luxury bath products and when I asked for more conditioner, they ran out. We checked out early due to winter storm Elliot and they were not helpful and could have cared less about getting is a refund. I never write reviews, but this was such an upsetting stay. read more

Charming little boutique hotel near Old Town Chicago. The street that this hotel sits on is so cute! The most darling little row houses, a Starbucks and other restaurants within walking distance. Right around the corner from the red line. The staff was super friendly and the evening bartender was so much fun. The decor is very cute and trendy, unlike the very sterile decor you get in some hotel rooms. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. I was able to overlook some of the minor repairs needed in our room because all the benefits outweighed those details. I would absolutely stay here again! Oh and a bonus? This neighborhood has so many dogs and I got to meet so many puppies during my stay which made my heart so happy while I was away from my own pups. read more

This hotel is such a gem. Sophisticated, stylish and cozy. During a trip to Chicago I booked a Queen bed and I was very happy. The Red Line and 22 are nearby and the architecture in this neighborhood is stunning! Plenty of places to eat and shop nearby, which are listed on papers in the lobby. The lobby is lovely with cozy seating, lots of intimate areas to eat, drink and meet friends. Sushi by Bou is located on the ground floor by reception for dine in, pick up or delivery to your room. I enjoyed the sweet potato sushi and chips as a pre and post bar treat. Lots of art and Instagram worthy backdrops for photos in the rooms, lobby and even the elevator. Complimentary bottle water from reception, cookies, peanuts and candy since it was near Halloween for me. The room has a nice view, a steamer, coffee maker, keycard entry and express check out. Full size mirror and lighted bathroom mirror made getting ready and selfies fun. FYI $100 charged upon check in. Lovely neighborhood and experience, I would stay again. read more

Upgraded me to a new room after bringing all my luggage up. Left a pair of boots accidentally and didn't realize for a couple hours. Sadly when I went back to get them I couldn't get in the room and housekeeping stated they "didn't see anything". Not worth the upgrade unfortunately. Won't be staying there again. This is a quaint hotel located in the Gold Coast area. Lovely neighborhood, away from the hustle & bustle of business areas. The rooms are small but adequate. Disappointed there was no microwave, but the real disappointment was customer service. Even though the front desk staff were friendly, there was no follow through. The bathroom floor had obviously not been cleaned as prior guests' hair was all over the floor. We requested that the floors be cleaned. They never were. The second night, we came back to ants in the room. We requested that be addressed. After more than a hour, we went to Walgreen's, purchased bug spray, and took care of that ourselves. Later, staff came to the door and attempted to hand us a can of spray, not offer to come in to take care of it themselves. We had to request fresh towels when needed. We were there for three days; staff never entered the room. On the final day, the elevator broke down. Fortunately, we were not stranded inside as were other guests. To their credit, they did adjust our bill when checking out, but rather than that, they need to improve their customer service standards. read more

This hotel isn't horrible. For the price, the location in Chicago is great. It's nestled between a cute bistro and it's a very short walk to an L train entrance spot. The lobby is nicely decorated and all staff members that we had were nice and accommodating. There were many things left to be desired, however. First of all, they advertise online that the extra "urban" fee (which amounted to almost $200 for our stay) includes a $15 voucher for breakfast. This is a LIE. The "discount" only works at their extremely overpriced sushi restaurant. We were only able to get breakfast there one day because of this. It was over $30 for an orange juice, a coffee, a scone, and a quiche. Way overpriced and the scone was horrible. It was dry and definitely microwaved and so was the quiche. The lobby also had a very distinctive and strange smell that was VERY off putting. As to our actual room: it was very shabby and poorly kept. There were little holes in the bottom of the bathroom door, almost looking like it was eaten by mice. The toilet was absolutely horrible and hardly worked. It was also very low to the ground. The bathroom itself is not like the images show online, it is TINY. You hardly have room to open the shower door. The room definitely looked like it needed a deep cleaning. The pillows were horribly uncomfortable, but the bedding was clean. There was only one tiny trash can which is horrible for a Chicago hotel where one of the biggest staples is pizza. The "view" we paid for was just into a dingy alley which you could tell was dingy. Overall, nice location, nice lobby, fairly friendly staff, not the best room/bathroom. read more

We stayed here for 2 nights when we were in Chicago for my daughter's wedding. The rooms were modern and clean, had great views, and the beds and pillows were so comfortable. The front desk staff was always helpful and polite when I spoke with them. A maintenance worker saw me moving a desk chair from my daughter's suite to my room, and he rushed down the hall to carry the chair into my room for me. Even the coffee bar adds a nice little touch by heating the sweet rolls when you order them. I would recommend this hotel to anybody visiting Chicago. read more

do not stay at this hotel. Miss coco at the front is very prejudice toward people of middle eastern descent. the other woman at the front was very rude and kept changing her position from the GM to director to manager. She was blatantly lying and needs to take a management and people skills course. So I arrived to the claridge house on Saturday at 4 am. I just arrived in Chicago for the first time. I had booked my stay from Thursday to the following Tuesday. Due to covid related delays I was able to arrive Saturday the earliest. I showed up and spoke to the man at the front desk. He was very helpful and started working on my booking. He even charged my card for incidentals. He mentioned to miss coco that he needed to comp the remaining nights of my stay (sat-Tuesday). At the last minute she came and interrupted him and started fussing with him. She asked me to take a seat. 15 minutes later she had sent him home. She said "idk where he went, he just left". That was lie #1. she told me that she could comp 1 night of my stay but I would have to pay again for the other 3 nights. I told her I had already paid for my entire trip from Thursday to Tuesday. I paid this upfront. She then mentioned that the hotel has a shady "no-show" policy where since I didn't check in on Thursday, they charge me for the entire trip and let someone else book the room. I told her I would not be paying twice for the same rooms. At that time she told me I needed to wait for her manager to come in and she will arrive at 7 am. I waited from 5:30 am to 7 am. When the manager arrived I had already called hotelstonight, The app that I booked the hotel with. The app called the manager and told her that she needed to let me stay the remaining days of my trip. The manager then told me she will let me stay Saturday through Tuesday but would not refund my first two nights. I thought ok that's fine. As long as I can still take the room for the remaining nights since I had already paid. She said yes that's fine. Miss coco then told me to come back at 11 am - 12 pm the latest because the rooms will be cleaned by then. I walked around the city for the next 5 hours. I still hadn't gotten any sleep. When I got back to the hotel both miss coco and the "gm" of the hotel changed their story. They now said I needed to re-book my room for the remaining nights. Even tho I had already paid for them. They said that since I was a no show my rooms were charged in full and given to someone else. And if I wanted to stay I would have to pay again. So basically they are charging me twice. I asked them why they would forfeit my booking. If I paid for the rooms upfront why does it matter to them that I show up or not. Those rooms are reserved for me since I paid. The GM agreed with me but said sorry that is our policy. I asked her if she thought a policy like that was a scam. She agreed that it was but still said she couldn't do anything about it. Now it's 1 pm and I've been basically been left in the lobby for the last 8 hours. I left the hotel and booked somewhere else. I'm not sure if these women were prejudice because I have a muslim sounding name but every time they would give me a peaceful resolution just to go back on their word. The GM even lied that there no rooms available. I showed her that the website shows rooms are available. And she said well if you pay again I can get you a room. I said how if they are sold out. She flustered and said "I will kick someone else off their room". I decided to just make a YouTube video about this and handle it a different way. If you are Muslim or a brown person, be very careful in staying here. I saw the treatment that other customers were getting vs what I was getting. Very poor management. Terrible people skills. At this point if this hotel wants to prosper the owner needs to invest in better staff. Doing a remodel but having low level employees running the place will never see the place prosper. I highly recommend that you do not stay here because there is no consistency in policy. I almost felt like the staff had a bad day and took it out on me. If the hotel wants to use shady policy to make money they need to stop doing that. They would not have lost any just by doing the right thing. But instead they cheated and lied. Overall a good 5 night stay. Great location right off the bat. The hotel gets extra points for having good gym equipment and enough space for mat and weight bench workouts. Our queen hotel room was small but that's to be expected. Certain things show age and wear and tear but the bed was comfortable and the place was quiet. We stayed on the 11th floor. Housekeeping stops by every day and is responsive to requests. You can get good brewed coffee in the lobby at the bar with one free refill. Also, take advantage of the free happy hour with wine selections from 5-6. This hotel has some nice touches and the freebies are a rare find. I will be back. read more

THANKFULLY we were only in the city for one day and therefore only had to stay at Claridge house for one night. Let me start by saying, it's a beautiful hotel and the rooms themselves are decent. The issue is purely the front desk staff and the suggested parking lot that makes this hotel a TERRIBLE stay. If you're planning on staying here, do not use the parking next to the building that the front desk suggests, instead go around the corner and pay half the price for far better customer service. We waited 20 mins on the valet to not even acknowledge us, to be told we were holding up his line and to get out of line as we were in the process of paying $60 for parking for ONE night. I asked the hotel staff at the front desk, two ladies, if they had any information as to who the valet is and how I could get ahold of his supervisor and neither of them were any help. When we got into our hotel room everything looked nice and clean, however the floors were not swept, the complimentary water bottles were open and drank out of, there was old hair in the shower and they didn't provide new conditioner after the previous guest had clearly used half the conditioner bottle in the shower. When I called the front desk to ask if we could have new water bottles, the lady at the front desk told me I would have to come down and get them and they wouldn't be brought up to the room. I'm not sure if they have room service or not, I understand this is a boutique hotel but the customer service is TRASH. The blinds in our room were also broken and need replaced, and the air does not get as cold as the thermostat says. After paying $230 for one night, one would expect better customer service and more hospitality when it comes to simple hotel etiquette. Instead we were greeted with disrespect and disregard starting with the hotels suggested parking garage and ending with the hotel staff being completely inhospitable. Coincidently, we ended up meeting another group that checked out of the Claridge house before we checked in, and they spoke about having the the same experience as we did with the valet. The walls here are paper thin - You can hear someone sneezing in their room three doors down. It's ridiculous. People start pounding on doors at 6am and we've had a dog barking all morning as well. I'm so exhausted and super annoyed. Also the hotel itself is pretty outdated. They lure you in with the cute lobby and bar but the rooms and hallways feel a little shabby. The lobby staff is nice but I need a good night's rest and not going to get one here. read more

They ask you to wait everything you are checking in or out or have a question and then forget about you (this happened multiple times). The coffee machine doesn't have a plug so you have to take it to the bathroom. To start off, I would give this hotel a negative -2 rating if possible. I do NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. I booked this hotel for a night out. I ended up with BED BUG bites in the morning. Our room was nice, but do NOT get a room with a connecting room. If they offer one, refuse it. There is no soundproofing whatsoever. Our first night was fine, great neighborhood, quick check-in, room was clean and as advertised. (We had a king with fireplace.) We did find that the vending machines were only taking cash, so that was a minor bummer. The second night, the people next to us were loud as hell from like midnight to 5 am. Yelling-volume conversations. The first night of this, I called the front desk about 2 am. Nothing changed. I went down to the front desk. The woman working there was asleep. Said she'd ask them again, and offers to move us to another room. (We were not the problem!). They didn't stop, finally had some peace at 5am when they shut up. They stared yelling again at 9am (with speakerphone even) and were still going when we left for the day. Second night, same thing. Called the front desk, she called the room. Nothing changed, so went down again. Different, conscious, person this time. Explained the issue with the previous night, and got a little cranky about it. (I'd had 4 hours of sleep in over 36 hours at this point and was over it.) Offered to call the police if that was what was needed. I don't know what that wonderful woman did, but she shut them down and we didn't hear another peep out of them. I love her, and we had a great stay after that. We didn't try their restaurant offerings, though they looked good. The dining area is right in front so it's a little weird - you basically walk through a restaurant area to get to the front desk. But here's what your "resort fee" and absurd $100 security deposit really gets you: I checked my bags at checkout until my car would arrive two hours later. When I picked up my bags the laptop bag was unzipped and hanging wide open. I did not check-in unzipped and hanging wide open bags. The man "working" that night was downstairs for About 15 minutes before coming up to check on his hotel. After struggling to convince him that these were in fact my bags (I had the ticket) and having to show him items in the bag with my name on them (seriously), asked why the bag was open he, looking directly at the bag, said "that ain't open". Then when I questioned him about who was in charge he said "not me" then threatened to call the police on ME, a paying guest for the entire weekend, for trespassing. Trespassing into the room with my belongings where he asked me to be. He was clearly high. Upon arriving to my following destination, my mothers hospital bed, I reached into my laptop bag where my Apple Pencil is ALWAYS kept. It wasn't there. Called the hotel and after 3 attempts at evading responsibility and being hung up on twice, I spoke with a man who eventually (and quite sarcastically) said he would investigate. No apology for ANYTHING. Sidenote I first called to check lost and found I was not then nor am I now accusing anyone personally for stealing the Apple Pencil I just know where it absolutely was last, which is in that bag in that building. Save your money there are many better options in the area at the same price point without the resort fee and senseless security deposit. Go to Ambassador only 2 blocks away. That place is run like a hotel. This place can say "boutique" all it wants but they're delivering straight up Amateur league customer-doubting blame-evading penny-pinching Mom-and-pop-don't-give-a-sh*t sloppy service. I'll never be back and this review is going on every social and travel platform until my situation is properly addressed and rectified. With a special shout out to CoralTree Hospitality. I will add that the young lady who checked me in was extremely warm and professional and belongs in the hospitality industry, much unlike the mouth-breathing Neanderthal Of a coworker who tried to have a paying guest arrested for trespassing. Hopefully soon she will find herself in an establishment that knows what it means to provide guest service. I'm not sure if she has something against me, but she's extremely unprofessional. Playing on her phone half the time or taking a personal phone call. Whenever I try to check in with her she always tells me to come back in an hour and doesn't even look at her computer to see if there are any rooms available. I never have this problem with any of the other employees here. Everyone else is wonderful and very accommodating. As it appears from other Yelp reviews this isn't the first customer upset with her. Maybe management needs to step in? I am a frequent booker but with my recent interactions with her in particular I may start to book elsewhere. read more

Booked via Hotel Tonight. I was a little concerned at first because there was a distinct mismatch between the lobby of this hotel and the upper floors, including the rooms. The lobby was pretty nice, freshly renovated and with tons of seating space. Great place for a meeting or small gathering. Upstairs, the room I was first assigned was a lot older. Fortunately, the service I received more than made up for it. The manager (I think her name was Araceli?) upgraded our room and switched us to cotton sheets due to a polyester allergy. When I tried to tip her and her co-worker for coming up and switching everything out, they would not accept it and insisted it was on them. The service was terrible. The rooms were fine but the front desk ladies were rude and unhelpful.

Great spot for coffee or a cocktail. Carlos the bartender is top notch and will treat you well. They offer a small discount for people who live in the neighborhood which is pretty cool. Stopped in yesterday and it's a great place to work or grab a bite to eat. Took some pictures so you can see the space. I recommended Claridge House to my buddy who was coming downtown for the weekend. He ended up booking a room at an affordable price and enjoyed his stay there very much. One of my best Chicago stays yet!! Such a wonderful hotel. Staff was attentive, kind, and helpful. The room was clean and beautiful. We sat at the bar for drinks during our first night. Very good hotel in the midst of the Gold Coast! Wehadsome issues with booking it through a third-party (Groupon)and not getting the room we booked yet the staff was great about it and worked it out! Parking is tough as expected in the city and we had a great experience using Park whiz and parked at Jewel osco, literally around the corner, cheap rates per day! I have such mixed emotions, the location was great, if I rebooked here it would likely be just because of the location. The room is SMALL, I mean SMALL. There was two of us, one suitcase and I felt like we were cramped. The lobby is nice, but you can tell it looks like the redid the rooms, which is fine. Our window didn't shut all the way, which wasn't a big deal, but still. You could hear everything in the hall and the doors slammed very easily. The toilet is very small and the bed was not comfortable, you could feel every spring in the bed. Overall, I was satisfied with the hotel, but I'm not jumping for joy to recommend it to anyone asking where I stayed. read more
