I was ending vacation at the J Dub and I wanted to go big for breakfast. I was looking for Country Fried Steak and Eggs. After some searching I found CJ's on the way out. The staff was so nice and was immediately greeted. Food was ordered and came out piping hot. Sooo I have this thing about over medium eggs. Came here while visiting before playing a round of golf a few weeks ago. It's a perfect stop in diner for a quick good bite. * I ordered a standard breakfast of hash browns, over easy eggs, and bacon. I asked for the hash browns to be well done which they didn't do a great job with, but the bacon and eggs were good. My girlfriend got the blueberry pancakes which she enjoyed. The winner of the meal was the biscuits and gravy. Very good. I definitely recommend the biscuits and gravy. * We got two coffees with our meals but we were still surprised when the bill came and it was close to $50. That meal look like $50 to you? Especially for a diner. So wasn't too happy with that but overall still good. With the hash brown mistake, and price, I'll give it 4 stars read more

I have eaten at this restaurant a few times now. I have never had a bad meal at this restaurant. The food is off the chain fantastic. The waiters and waitresses are all very pleasant. They are very friendly, pleasant, polite and professional. Our waiter that we request every time we go is Antonio. this young man always make my wife and I very comfortable and always takes care of business. He never lets our drink cups get close to empty, if he gets busy and can't make it back to our table, then someone else takes over. Oooo so you found the most hidden awesome gem in the desert. This place is my absolute favorite breakfast spot. It's an old school feel with a counter top and the best friendly staff in the desert. My favorite is the Huevos Rancheros, with the Mexican rice... omgggg Can't find it better anywhere else. Another notable mention is the Monte Cristo which is uniquely crafted too perfection. Veronica, Alyssa & Cynthia always roll out a red carpet for me and I've always felt at home. It's the kind of place you just keep coming back to because it's never as good anywhere else. Hidden in the trees the patio is shaded and a cool atmosphere also for the winter and spring months. I highly recommend this place especially if home town diners are your type of food. Stopped by for lunch after an appointment near by and what a great find!! This is a true neighborhood diner hidden amongst a large business park. They have a beautiful garden and with the daytime temp only reaching 80 degrees today, the garden was the perfect place for a quiet relaxing lunch! My husband tried their Monte Cristo sandwich which he loved! I had a half-order BBQ chicken salad which was the perfect size to fill me and was really flavorful. Staff are friendly and now we have a new "go to" breakfast and lunch spot when we are in east Palm Desert! read more

Hidden Gem. Always our go to when we come out to Palm Desert. Located in a small shopping plaza. You would never think it is even there. Place has that nostalgic feel to it. Staff are very kind and friendly. I always order the Country Fried Steak. Comes with country fried steak smothered in gravy. Along with eggs, hash browns and toast. The steak is cooked to perfection and the batter is amazing. The gravy that covers it is the best tasting gravy I've ever had. The eggs and hash browns are always a great compliment to this meal. Wife and I drove up, not quite sure what to expect, as it's located off the main streets (its off both Cook and Hovely), but worth traveling into the business park to find. Patio dining during the pandemic, but plenty of tables. Broad menu with breakfast standards as well as some great specialties, we had today's special (Huevos Rancheros) and wife tried the French Toast made with cinnamon egg bread. WOW. Delicious, everything was really good, maybe a little undersalted, but that's a good thing - you can always add salt, but you're in trouble if there's too much to begin with! The only thing that pulled it down from 5 stars was - as good as it was - nothing was really extraordinary. They deserve a solid A, maybe not an A+ Our waitress Veronica was great - SO sweet and helpful with a great attitude, but also businesslike and accurate, and was moving constantly keeping our waters full and checking in on us regularly, checking all her other tables, and we still felt like we got her full attention. Searched for a local breakfast place in Palm Desert and found this lovely local establishment. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. It was a bit warm inside the restaurant (maybe a/c wasn't working properly??) and so I asked if they would please turn up the ceiling fan. Without hesitation, they did. The food was super yummy, as well as their coffee. Their menu has a great variety. The waitress mentioned that they post daily specials on their Facebook page. What a hidden gem! I was walking my dog while waiting for my car to get an engine and transmission oil change, and we stumbled across this secret restaurant, nestled in between every imaginable automobile repair and accessory shop imaginable. There's a lovely outdoor patio space, providing as much sun or shade as you'd like. Veronica and her teammates provided me and Turbo very attentive service, including a special order diced chicken breast just for him. Yes, Turbo is a dog. I had a difficult time deciding between the Monte Cristo or French Dip, and ultimately went with the former (because, other than at Disneyland's Blue Bayou, where else can you get a good Monte Cristo?) and CJ's did not disappoint. I haven't been to a diner since the pandemic. It's a shame, because I love diners and CJ's diner fulfilled my craving. I want to give us particular thanks to Omar and Veronica for providing excellent service. We got the chili cheese omelette with hashbrowns and the corned beef hash with hashbrowns as well. Two coffees to boot. It hit the spot. It was empty when we went in there, granted, it was the slow season on a summer Thursday morning. It's a shame that diner-style restaurants today charge high prices for basic comfort food. I will be an ardent supporter of CJ's diner, because it's places like this that we need to keep alive, especially here in sleepy Palm Springs.
