Pastrami Burger

Food here is always good, especially if you're craving a burger, not from anywhere with a drive-thru. Pricing is worth it too. Service here moves well and is worth the wait. Ambiance is good when it's not too crowded since the dining area is small, however there's outdoor seating. Awesome hole in the wall!

I have seen CJ's from the road, but was always curious to go and check it out. Glad I did! SERVICE: Went here for the first time today, pretty impressed! I got the 2 meat combo, and felt like it was priced fairly. I really liked how buffalo wings were included in the 2 meat option, there are lots of options to choose from. And lots of sides to choose from as well! Service was helpful and answered my questions. AMBIANCE: This is an order at the register and they bring your food to you restaurant, it seems like they do a lot of to-go orders as there aren't a lot of tables inside to sit at. But there is outside seating as well if you prefer that. FOOD: Food was good, I got the two meat combo: I chose Tri tip, buffalo wings and for side I chose fries, coleslaw. A bun comes with it as well. TRI TIP: This Tri tip was TENDER! The most tender I have had in Oxnard/Ventura. The bbq sauce on top is really good, but they slather it on there for you and it's a lot. I would recommend you ask for the bbq sauce on the side if you order the trip tip. --8/10 BUFFALO WINGS: The wings were average for me, nothing out of the ordinary. Very classic and tasted good. -- 8/10 FRIES: The fries are AMAZING. Like seriously, so good. They have great seasoning on them, I'm obsessed. The ranch is really good too! 10/10 COLESLAW: I've had better, wasn't bad but wasn't amazing. A little sweet and not a lot of flavor. 7/10 BUN: Bun was delicious, seriously so good and the BEST bread side I have had for bbq places in Ventura/Oxnard. Other bbq places just give you white bread that is barely toasted sometimes. This was buttered and toasted to perfection. 9/10 Overall, we are definitely going here again. It was tasty and a fun way to shake up our normal routine. I really want to try the cobbler soon, and those fries are incredible. I like that they have bottles of BBQ that you can use at the table, that was an awesome touch. Totally would get this place for catering/to go!

Bbq beans, mac n cheese, sauce on the side and dinner roll

It's my birthday today but my dinner plans were cancelled. I wanted something I haven't had in awhile so I thought of CJ's. Called them up 30 minutes before they closed and they took my order. I ordered a full rack of beef ribs! Took of to make it there before closing and was greeted with the friendliest person that just kept a smile on. Gave me my order and told me to enjoy my food. I told him I will because it's my birthday. We started talking guessing each others ages and we were both off by 10 years. He gave a cornbread in the house. I asked his name and he said,"Chris...CJ" I didn't know that was him. Such a pleasure to meet the owner. Very personable. Reminded me of Sal at Sal's Mexican Restaurant went he was still with us and the place was open. Anyway, I got home and the ribs were the best! I asked for the sauce on the side because I don't usually use sauce on my ribs, but when I put some on...wow! It was even better! The bbq beans were great and so was the mac n cheese. I just wish my sides were bigger. As for the cornbread...so good. I ate everything except 3 ribs. I got too full. I'll be back soon for more, but I will order bigger sides.

I haven't ate there since September of 2099. I gave it a shot three times, and disappointed all three. I'm sure it's worse by now

Sides, drinks and other food items are available in the mart as well. My fresh juicy burger was made to order with my specifications; cheese, lettuce, and sauce on a pita instead of a bun. Yep, so good!!! Don't sleep on the incredible international variety of snacks and sweets such as chocolates from England and chips from Japan. A plentiful variety of soda, water, beer, wine and liquor round out this food Mecca. Sorry folks, while the Harbor Mart shop is open Sunday-Saturday 8am-9pm, the deli hours are 10:00-6:30 Monday-Saturday. Although the deli is closed Sundays, there are still plenty of tasty foods and treats to meet your hunger. There's even an automated coffee machine if you're looking for a latte of a hot chocolate for the kids. Don't sleep on buying the hot dogs here, they are filling and OUTTA THIS WORLD!!!

We haven't been to this area in three years and they opened about three years ago so we have never tried it before But based on the reviews, we decided to stop in for lunch. The menu is divided between American offerings like hamburgers and some Mediterranean options as well as salads so a pretty good overall number of options. This is not only a restaurant, but it is also a market that has lots of Good selections and is quite nice. The service was amazing when I walked in the door one of the family members who owned the place greeted me personally showed me around and told me how the food ordering works. Nice seating outdoors and highly recommended place if you are in Ventura Harbor. Please support this family business is awesome.

I clearly Said who I was with the first time, and I clearly stated what was ordered. The second time two days after , i tried the ham because it had a bad review the last time I came in. I wanted to try it, and give you the benefit of the doubt... so much for that, I mean how hard is it to screw up a boarshead meat sandwich? . Based on the 3 meat sandwiches last time, and the ones I saw being eaten while we were there, it definitely wasn't the usual meat. Or WAS IT???. BUT I EVEN took a picture of it. Just in case you came back and got rude in your response like you have in the past when you don't like when others don't leave you a good review. . We even came back in TODAY and wanted to give it ONE LAST TRY and so i ordered a hot Italian and it was LACKING meat and any flavor, the sandwich is literally the smallest SUB i have had in 37 years! . so Now. I will leave this a solid zero review.. So everyone can see what type of company you genuinely run... BBQ Worth Fighting Over at Smokin Jay's BBQ & Coffee from Potheads Coffee…read more My wife and I recently stopped by Smokin Jay's BBQ and paired it with a visit to Potheads Coffee, and it turned into one of those meals you end up talking about long after you leave. From the first bite, it was clear this spot takes their BBQ seriously. Entrées: We started by ordering a brisket plate, which came with about 1/4 lb of brisket, roughly six solid pieces, along with macaroni salad and baked beans. Our original plan was to share, but that quickly changed after the first few bites. The brisket was tender, flavorful, and cooked just right with that perfect balance of smoke and juiciness. It didn't take long before we realized sharing wasn't going to cut it. So my wife went back up and ordered a brisket sando with fries, and it absolutely delivered. The sandwich came loaded with brisket, pickles, slaw, and sauce, all working together perfectly. The fries were a great side, crispy and a solid pairing with the sandwich. Sides: The macaroni salad and baked beans that came with the plate were both on point. The mac salad was creamy and complemented the richness of the brisket, while the baked beans added that sweet and savory depth you want with BBQ. Sandwich Details: The sando really stood out, especially with the addition of the slaw. My wife usually isn't a fan of coleslaw, but this one changed things a bit. It wasn't overpowering and added a nice crunch and balance to the sandwich, tying everything together without taking away from the brisket. Drinks and Service: Grabbing coffee from Potheads Coffee alongside the meal was the perfect move. What really stood out, though, was the service. Jay, the owner, was walking around checking in on customers and genuinely engaging with everyone. He even helped my wife decide on a coffee based on what she usually orders at Starbucks, which was a great personal touch. He later stopped by our table, chatted with us for a bit, and made the whole experience feel welcoming and personal. Ambience: The atmosphere strikes a great balance between laid back and lively. It has that casual, welcoming BBQ spot feel where you can relax, enjoy your food, and not feel rushed. Pairing it with Potheads Coffee adds to the experience, making it feel like more than just a meal but a spot you can hang out and enjoy. Overall: Smokin Jay's BBQ is hands down the best BBQ spot I've had in Ventura County so far. Between the quality brisket, well put together sides, standout sandwiches, and the personal touch from the owner, it's an easy recommendation. Pair it with Potheads Coffee, and you've got yourself a top tier Ventura food stop that's definitely worth coming back to.
