My friend and I stopped at Gordos Hot Chicken for lunch which is located in the Annex at the Collection. We both had been eager to try this spot since it opened fairly recently at the annex food court and anyway is an excuse for fried chicken. There was no line so it was meant to be. You order at the electronic monitor in front of the store and it was all pretty easy to navigate. We were also impressed that the food came out pretty quickly yet all tasted super fresh. I ordered the three tender chicken plate with fried pickles and Mac & cheese. My friend ordered their loaded French fries but of course he wouldn't let me take a picture of it...Okay, let me reframe, he started eating BEFORE I could take a picture....men lol. The chicken was definitely juicy and huge pieces of white meat for the tenders. My friends loaded fries plate was gigantic so be prepared to come hungry. I'd say the chicken was really good in terms of portion size and freshness, however I personally like a little crunchier / thicker batter and the seasoning was on the mild side. The Mac and cheese was good for sure and different. I don't think I'd get the fried pickles again, small and crunchy but they don't have homemade ranch here (they just give you the packets - so that didn't seal the deal for me with the pickles). I think next time I'll try the loaded fries plate with chicken and Mac because my friend liked his meal more and a lot of people that messaged me when I posted I was at Gordos earlier recommended the fries :) They have a unique flavor profile and taste which isn't comporable to other fried chicken / hot chicken joints I've tried in the area. If you are a hot chicken connoisseur I'd be curious for your take on this spot. Overall I'm just happy we have some new and creative spots popping up at the Annex which makes this a spot for everyone to come, catering to all tastes and preferences. Always happy to try something new and wishing them much success at their newest location in the 805.

Food came out fairly fast. Prices are a bit high. Portion size is ok The food is a bit bland. Not too flavorful. Overall it was ok. Given all the options in the collection, i would suggest looking elsewhere for great food

Fellow yelpers , I'm from the Inland Empire and picky eater. I had seen this restaurant on instagram and decided to take a drive to Oxnard to check it out. This place did not disappoint. The staff was professional , and friendly. The menu is simple but has something for everyone. Who does not like chicken , fries and Mac n cheese? This place has a Gordos Chicken fries and they are tasty . Hookup with season fries , Mac n cheese, chicken coleslaw with bits of pineapple. It may sound weird but it's tropical and crispy in one bite. The location is nice , you can come with the family, or by your self. The scene is cool . Very nice ambiance to enjoy good food. Will be coming back. You have to check it out your self

This spot is mid when it comes to hot chicken. I've had the GOAT aka Howlin' Ray's many times. So obviously tough to compare to that. It pales in comparison to Dave's and similar establishments. This chicken isn't even hot spicy wise and the breading is terrible. I ordered the 3 tender combo and the bottom of the tenders were soggy with no breading or crispiness. The chicken itself was tender and cooked well. That was pretty much the only highlight. The crinkle cut frozen fries are under seasoned. I can do better at home. The Mac and cheese had a decent flavor but overall nothing special. I've given those spot a couple of tries but will definitely never return. Like many Annex restaurants i doubt they will last. Hopefully the food truck survives.

Food here is delicious! It's become mine and my husband's favorite. He loves hot chicken and we've tried other places but this place is better than all the others. The spice is perfect, perfect blend of sweet and spicy. Fries and Mac are delicious too. We will drive 30-40 minutes just to eat here. Definitely worth the drive!

First time eating here and the food was amazing ordered a 3 tender combo and every bite was like heaven the best part is I got a free drink since I asked if it came with the combo after I payed and received my food

The food is good. I'd say a solid 7 out of 10. The customer service is good. The service could be a bit faster but it's not terribly slow. It's a food truck so no place to eat and sit down. It's a park it & spark it type of vibe. The Cole slaw has pineapple, which is controversial but I like it. The Mac and cheese is 10x better than the fries. The fries look well seasoned but they still lack more flavor. The sandwich is over all good, I recommend the try out.

This place was GOOD before it was changed to Gordos. The chicken was insanely dry and bland. The noodles claimed to be mac and cheese but was actually a tomato cheese sauce and was mushy and over cooked. The fries were decent. They somehow managed to mess up pre-made Kings Hawaiian rolls by soaking them in butter and attempting to make them be like Texas toast. They were soggy and inedible. Gordos ruined this place.

I ordered the 3 finger combo with regular spice level

They were parked at a brewery so I would've understood if they opened later, it's just always such a bummer when I'm looking for some new lunch spots. The owners of the truck (I'm guessing they owned it at least), a lovely woman taking orders & a gentleman making the food. They were both SO nice, and let me tell you, a smile goes a long way people. They both genuinely looked so happy to be there, which really just brightened my day. This was by far the cleanest food truck I've ever seen. No I didn't actually jump on up there, but from what I could see, it was spotless. Sparkling even. Falafel is such a difficult dish to make right, I often find myself extremely disappointed. I took a chance and I'm SO happy I did! They were super crispy on the outside but light and airy on the inside. Amazing flavor. I also loved the shape!! Like cutie little chickpea donuts Keep in mind this is a Syrian inspired truck, so Middle Eastern flavors, not Mediterranean. I say that because I'm so used to seeing Greek joints cook up falafel. This was different and I really really enjoyed it. Everything from the sides to the sauces were so delicious. Spot on. Can't wait to be back!

So taste-wise? They are ok, nothing great but a good late night spot to catch some tacos. Here's a rundown of their meat offerings: Asada - Not that good, but then again tell me one place here in the Nard that knows how to do this right. Pastor - Just ok, they cook it on the flattop just like all other taco places but the flavor is decent. Lengua - Very good! My favorite of all, very tender and flavorful. If you add the green sauce and a little salt you'll be in tongue heaven, yes that is a thing! Barbacoa - Not bad, was missing a little salt but over all good flavor. Tripas - Nope I don't eat this, not even in Mexico, I have to draw the line somewhere. Chorizo - Pretty good overall, decent seasonings not too fatty, it would be great in a gordita or a quesadilla. Cabeza - Not that great, still too watery and lots of fat on it, however I did hear some lady order it without fat?! Is that really a thing?? I might try this again. Still left to try: Chile Verde, Colorado. Like I said, this place is not a show stopper but when you are sitting at home watching TV on a late night and you get the cravings for some Tacos, this is not a bad place to try. Also the ladies running it are very nice and accommodating which is always good to have. Oh and before I forget, apparently the Tortas are pretty good because my kid had me go back two days in a row and ordered the exact same Torta, so at some point I think I should try one too ;)

The cash register is right straight in as you walk in. There are communal benches outside and a few high top tables inside, but the restaurant seemed to get a lot of pick up orders. Food came out within 5 minutes on a Saturday at lunch, which I was weary about since it's BBQ - but everything ended up still being hot and juicy. We ended up going with the 3-meat plate for about $30 total. It was enough for 2 people (or 1 really hungry person!). We ordered the brisket, burnt ends, and hot links which came with garlic bread and two sides of our choice - the star of the show was for sure the burnt ends, which were juicy and deeply flavorful. The brisket was moist, which I feel like is hard to find, but I do wish it had more flavor. The hot links were also good but didn't have much nuance either. Next time, we'll definitely save room to try some dessert, which was only $5! If you're in the area, definitely check this place out!
