We have been here twice and both times it was under whelming. The first time I had the petite filets which was ok. Nothing I could not make myself. The second time I had the steak salad which was not good. Very plain and I only ate the steak. The drinks are pretty good. We had old fashions both times. I don't remember what my husband had, but it wasn't memorable. The second time dinning there we went from inside to outside seating due to the volume of the music. I sound like such a damn Karen, but it really was loud. I would definitely give it at least a try. They need to expand their menu. read more

I really wanted to like this place, but it definitely fell short of my expectations. Pros- Chicken and waffles entree was good! Libations, specifically the Moroccan Manhattan and blueberry Mojito were good! Cons- I had my beer half gone before my husband got his flight of beers fried avocados had 0 taste, I get it it's an avocado, but I thought the Panko would have some flavoring. Husbands Fillet was highly suggested by the waitress, it was just okay. As we were waiting for our food we overheard the wait staff talking about working Valentine's Day and the words "upsell, upsell, upsell" came out, is this why the fillet was recommended? Came in with the lady for a quick salad. We both went for the bacon date salad. So good. The greens, candied walnuts, blue cheese, real bacon, and chopped dates really made for an excellent salad. We also tried the potato soup but found it only ok. For the price though we really enjoyed our salads and can't wait to come try more of the menu. The Good Great salad. Friendly staff. Another winner downtown SGF! This place has a great selection of seating, upstairs, curbside, back sporty bar and classic rustic up front dining. Lots of brews on tap with great service and knowledge of the local favorites. I had the Maple Filet, Brussel sprouts and Gouda infused mashed potatoes and it rocked...obviously licking the plate was frowned upon. But flavorful meal to say the least. My wife had the panko fish sandwich and was a fantastic choice. We ordered the Bruschetta starter and my wife had a coconut rum and pineapple drink. I can't verify if her drink was ok because next glance over to sneek a taste it was empty. She claimed the first was defective and would need another. I had a long Island and it was on point. The night was looking up. Our entrees were the chicken and waffles with maple syrup and gravy , because gravy!. Wife ordered the falafel wrap and she loved it. Along with a pecan and date balsamic salad. I was all pumped up to get their petite medallion dinner with gouda mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts, and spending $20 on it, I was anticipating and hoping it would be worth the cost. I was unfortunately, disappointed. The medallions were cooked medium rare like I asked, I'll give them that, but they were tasteless and nothing to brag about or order again, they even had a gamey taste to them, not sure where they get their beef? I couldn't taste the gouda in the potatoes and the veggies were meh. I didn't bother eating the last of the 3 medallions and I'm a big beef and steak lover. This is the second time I have been here and I was not disappointed. The salads are great, the truffle fries are superb, the crack bread is exactly what you would expect when you order it. Not a great experience. Had drinks and food upstairs and the waitress really didn't give a flip about us. Never cleared a single dish from the table, was not interested in helping with beer or food choices and could not get the ticket split right- and we were just 2 couples. Frog legs were disappointing, "chips" were pedestrian, never got the "devilish eggs". Husband loved the chicken and donuts but my open faced turkey and waffles were bland and the side of kale was greasy. Lastly, parking is horrendous in downtown springfield - food and service has to be great to go back, and this was sub-par. read more

Had lunch there...the atmosphere and the food were great! I have a chicken wrap with the crunchy Brussels spouts . Choices of sides were a little different, which I like! We sat outside because the weather was great. I would say the street is a little busy which made it hard to have a conversation. so sad to have to write this review because we love civil kitchen :( we were here visiting and we were told by the hostess @ 10pm that she couldn't seat us because they closed at 11pm yet the door AND website both say 12am. Regardless, it was only 10pm and there were many tables available throughout the restaurant. After telling her how we had called ahead and had been told to walk in to be seated, she slammed our silverware down on two tables and sat us. We ordered quickly as soon as our waitress took our orders. It was such a weird encounter/behavior and sad that this location would rather turn customers away an hour before closing and treating us like less than none. Yikes not a good look read more

If you place an online takeout order here, I recommend calling to confirm they received it. They never received ours and said they don't use Yelp. We had to educate them that the Yelp order is powered by Grubhub. Then when we arrived they were mysteriously able to find the order submission, but hadn't started cooking it yet. Waited over an hour for an order that was estimated at 15-30min when placed online. This far into COVID19, I would expect they would have their takeout procedure efficient. read more

Every time the staff is attentive and super helpful. The drink options are pretty extensive and the appetizers are addicting...especially the crack bread. I don't recommend you get it, because it will have you coming back for more...and more. The main dishes are great, I just wish they would switch it up a little more frequently. Wasn't the biggest fan of the chicken and waffles, but they weren't bad and several of my friends really enjoy them.m. The sauces are always fun to try and add a little pop to the dish. It took multiple minutes for any staff member to acknowledge me. Then, minutes later, the "host" appeared. The host was very vocal about how it "will take a while" for my group to be seated. It was very apparent from the initial non-acknowledgment walking in the door from this staff that they weren't concerned about creating a welcoming environment. They blamed all of the experience on Covid, and the rude manager, Miranda, had a tit-for-tat, excuse for everything, looking for a fight attitude. This place is really cute but the parking is a little inconvenient. The food was pretty good, the menu is unique. My husband wanted to order a loaded baked potato but they said they were out and it was only about 6 pm and the restaurant was dead so that was weird. Honestly I would have given it 3 stars but then we had this amazing dessert, gooey butter cake ice cream sandwich. So. Freaking. Good. I would go back a dozen times just for that dessert. But it is huge so make sure you have several people to share it with or wear some serious stretchy pants! read more
