Came in with the lady for a quick salad. We both went for the bacon date salad. So good. The greens, candied walnuts, blue cheese, real bacon, and chopped dates really made for an excellent salad. Libations, specifically the Moroccan Manhattan and blueberry Mojito were good! Husbands Fillet was highly suggested by the waitress, it was just okay. Another winner downtown SGF! This place has a great selection of seating, upstairs, curbside, back sporty bar and classic rustic up front dining. Lots of brews on tap with great service and knowledge of the local favorites. I had the Maple Filet, Brussel sprouts and Gouda infused mashed potatoes and it rocked...obviously licking the plate was frowned upon. But flavorful meal to say the least. My wife had the panko fish sandwich and was a fantastic choice. Had a great experience here before but not last night. Had Chicken and donuts, chicken was way overdone, dry and tough, donuts tough. Wife had Prime Rib sandwich which was good, but when she asked for more French onion dip, we I told the manager said that would be an additional $.75! The medallions were cooked medium rare like I asked, I'll give them that, but they were tasteless and nothing to brag about or order again, they even had a gamey taste to them, not sure where they get their beef? We ordered the Bruschetta starter and my wife had a coconut rum and pineapple drink. I can't verify if her drink was ok because next glance over to sneek a taste it was empty. She claimed the first was defective and would need another. I had a long Island and it was on point. The night was looking up. Our entrees were the chicken and waffles with maple syrup and gravy , because gravy!. Wife ordered the falafel wrap and she loved it. Along with a pecan and date balsamic salad. This is the second time I have been here and I was not disappointed. The salads are great, the truffle fries are superb, the crack bread is exactly what you would expect when you order it. I would recommend the chicken & waffles, yummo in my tummo. They have a great beer selection, the atmosphere is nice and grow up, and our waiter Tyler was most attentive. so sad to have to write this review because we love civil kitchen :( we were here visiting and we were told by the hostess @ 10pm that she couldn't seat us because they closed at 11pm yet the door AND website both say 12am. Regardless, it was only 10pm and there were many tables available throughout the restaurant. After telling her how we had called ahead and had been told to walk in to be seated, she slammed our silverware down on two tables and sat us. We ordered quickly as soon as our waitress took our orders. It was such a weird encounter/behavior and sad that this location would rather turn customers away an hour before closing and treating us like less than none. Yikes not a good look read more

Not a great experience. Had drinks and food upstairs and the waitress really didn't give a flip about us. Never cleared a single dish from the table, was not interested in helping with beer or food choices and could not get the ticket split right- and we were just 2 couples. Frog legs were disappointing, "chips" were pedestrian, never got the "devilish eggs". Husband loved the chicken and donuts but my open faced turkey and waffles were bland and the side of kale was greasy. If you place an online takeout order here, I recommend calling to confirm they received it. They never received ours and said they don't use Yelp. We had to educate them that the Yelp order is powered by Grubhub. Then when we arrived they were mysteriously able to find the order submission, but hadn't started cooking it yet. It took multiple minutes for any staff member to acknowledge me. Then, minutes later, the "host" appeared. The host was very vocal about how it "will take a while" for my group to be seated. It was very apparent from the initial non-acknowledgment walking in the door from this staff that they weren't concerned about creating a welcoming environment. It took 30 minutes to come out and when it showed up the cheese wasn't even melted. I had the Steak Sandwich. It's supposed to be "sliced petit filet" but I got huge chunks of shredded beef. Weirdest looking steak I've ever seen! The menu said it came with "balsamic mixed greens" but all I got on mine was chopped iceberg lettuce. I ordered the bacon and chive mac and cheese as my side. It was just macaroni and melted cheese with bacon pieces. There was no cheese sauce! Once again, the food was super disappointing and didn't match the menu description.
